A goldcard is not going to help you with that error message. Sounds like you need to redownload the RUU.

Solved!!

when i tried installing the official WWE 2.12.405.7 RUU i get ERROR 140 : BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR i was using the goldcard during installation the RUU seems to have updated my HBOOT to version 1.13 with S-ON
i tried flashing the ROM manually by using the one from the RUU and placing it on my SD card after renaming it but i keep getting a error there again "Main version is older" and it fails to install I even tried to enter the recovery menu from HBOOT but that doesnt seem to work either
Please help i need to get my phone working

[Q] Help Stuck going back to stock

I'm trying to go back to stock ROM to do the OTA update. I have a bootloader that says the following ***TAMPERED***, ***UNLOCKED***, HBOOT- 1.44.000, RADIO04A.17.3250.20. Firmware is 1.27.531.11. I know that it also says S-ON even though I was S-OFF Before. I tried using moonshine to S-Off since I'm on 1.44 hboot. It did its process but still shows S-ON. Anytime I try to flash a firmware package it tells me FAILED (remote: 99 unknown fail). So I'm stuck. When I try to do a software update it will allow me to download, but I'm afraid to install as it may brick the phone. Any help?
Thanks
I'm on Tmobile US. CID says T-MO010

1- downgrade not possible without S-Off
2- hboot flashing not possible without S-Off
3- you can only flash signed firmware/ruu (same or higher version) with S-ON.
i tried !
even the htc update gave me a signature verification error !!
i tried the rumrunner_HTC_0.5.0 s-off method
but didn't work !!
what can i do ?!!

i'm not really familiar with your model, but have you tried http://firewater-soff.com/
EDIT: you should also be using a ROM which is rooted and has an unsecured kernel for best chance, i believe

[Q] HELP needed, HTC One Soft Bricked and RUU's wont work

hello guys.
i had an htc one m7 ul for a while and all was great until the network stopped working.
so i decided to flash an RUU exe for my device which is HTC___J15
the process did not finish and it gave the error "failed zip" on the fastboot screen.
i rebooted the phone and it went back to the fastboot screen and it never got back in the system, this was two days ago.
yesterday i tried to flash the htc___j15 ruu zip file and it gave me the signature verification failed error.
it says tampered and reclocked *security warning* and my hboot version is 1.61 and os-7.19.401.51
after some reaserch im discovering it says s-on .
is there any way to put it to s-off or downgrade the hboot from 1.61
tried revone, rumrunner and all those did not work

If your version main is 7.19.401.51 then the only RUU you can flash is the 7.19.401.51 version. You don't need S-OFF to flash this RUU and fyi, S-OFF can only be acheived using the Sunshine S-OFF exploit on this hboot version. Hboot can only be downgraded when already S-OFF.
If you need more help, pleas post the output of "fastboot getvar all" with your next post (hide imei/serial)
The 7.19.401.51 RUU can be found here at post #2 and instruction how to flash at post #1.

At first you need a running system cause sunshine is an app based service. After that you can download the latest sunshine app and install it, then the app will test your device if it is possible to make it s-off. If it can, in the second step you have to buy a license for your device within sunshine (about 20€/25$). After sucessfully payment your device will reboot and sunshine will set it to s-off.(The license is bind to your device and you can use it on this device as often as you want, for other devices you need to buy another license)

If after flashing the RUU your problem isn't fixed, it's probably an hardware problem.

Reflash ruu
Or
If you have backup of partition 2,3,4,5. You can restored the partitions that have phone info like imei and serial no with TWRP by if=dd
