I couldn't find the unlock tread, so starting this one.
A week ago i did Sim unlock . What i would like to know is if that makes the phone open as factory open or not.
I mean update program looks at the imei and not the installed version.
Thanks in advance.
I'm afraid that that is not possible.
When LG check rout IMEI, they don't check your sim lock status, they only search your IMEI at their IMEI database.
If your phone is from a operator, allways it will be from that operator. Other thing is to modify the IMEI... but I don't know how to do it at OB and I don't know if it's a good idea...
Regards!
Well it was worth asking. Thanks Huexxx.
Definitely not thinking about fiddling with IMEI.
hi!, how do you do sim unlock? i can root device.. but it will be simunlocked?
No, to unlock sim (make it able to use sims from other operators) you can do it in internet only paying 4 euros and giving your IMEI...
Go to gsmspain, search for a thread where somebody asks for sim unlock (liberar movil) and post there a single post saying: 'I have a P970 and I want to unlock it'. You will receive a lot of PMs of people who can unlock your phone. Then, take the cheapest and unlock it...
Regards.
Thats what i did. It did cost me 5 euro at liberarme when tills then i an member of xda . Probably could have found cheaper but couldn't be bothered. Got the code in two hours.

Hi i just bought a AT_T tilt and i want to put a sim card from another carrier,
but it tells me that its blocked to at_t only.
what should i do?
or what can i do?
call att international CS 916-843-4685, tell them you will be traveling to europe and you need to use their sims in europe.
they should give the unlock code to you.
call from another phone just to test the unlock code on your phone.
but i dont have a at_t phone number what happens when they ask me my name and phone number, or what will they ask for?
hi i just called and they told me that i need to give a
-AT_T phone number
-the name of the owner of the phone number
-and the phone IMEI.
can anyone help me with that?
or any type of help? i read that i could make it like an HTC Tytn II and remove the at_t software, but will that unlock it so i can put a different provider sim?
Search Ebay For "cellunlockfast". $15, and a few hours, and you're unlocked. I been recommending this guy to everyone trying to unlock. He has the best prices and service on the interwebz.
Here: http://myworld.ebay.com/cellunlockfast
super thanks dude i have my unlock code now...
i really recommend this to anyone who wants to have his tilt unlocked, fast, and cheap.
To anyone who can help me,
I am aware that to recieve the unlock code from AT&T all one has to do is call them up, say you are traveling oversees, and then give them your IMEI number and then you recieve the code. I am wondering, however, if it is possible to enter that number in the phone if it isnt registered or has a plan. What i would like to do is buy this phone, walk out the doors of AT&T and then call them up, unlock the code and insert my SIM, without having to make a plan for the phone with them.
-Thanks to anyone who can provide useful information
Go to the att coperate store, not authorized dealer; buy the tilt at full price. Call them right there and ask for the subsidy unlock code. Normally, the rep will require a fax of the receipt which shows that you pay at full price if you're not att subcriber.
In the worst case, there are some solutions for you:
1, Return the tilt within 30 days and get your full money back.
2. Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361039 to get it unlock by yourself.
BTW, do you really want to buy the phone which is set for "end of life" in December?
Thank you for the information. I was not aware that the tilt would be coming to an end. What would you recomend that would have the... Live TV, WIFI, and other features such as the tilt?

End of Life? Where are you getting that from? Can you post a link with info please
I just got one and used this thread to unlock it myself. Hell with talking to ATT, thats an endless loop that takes like 5 calls and alot of patience.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375583
I would probably unlock the phone myself, but due to the fact that i am not as tech savy i would not want to risk it. Also if you unlock it yourself, doesnt it re-lock with updates, where as the ATT unlock, unlocks it for good.
Everyone was noob at sometimes. It's not hard as you may think. Furthermore, if you can't get it unlock yourself AND att doesn't give out the unlock code then return it and get your full money back within a month. Good deal?
No. Tilt is not a PC so you don't have to worry that it will be re-locked when you upgrade

It simply means att will stop selling Tilt after December 2008.
An att rep I talked with when I called to ask about the Fuze (aka Touch PRO) whom was confirmed this info, too. You can also go to Raphael box in this board and search for Fuze.

OK, noob question....
Is a PUK code the "unlock code" we are talking about here?
The PUK Code for AT&T Customers is available from the AT&T website. Seems like if this is the code, it saves a lot phone calls and pain to just go to the website and get the code.
If this is the code you need to unlock the phone, then I'll post instructions to get to the proper page on the AT&T site.

Nope. A PUK code is required when your SIM card becomes blocked on the network. The most common cause of this is someone activating a PIN code on their SIM, and then either forgetting the code, or entering it incorrectly 3 times. The SIM is then locked (for security purposes) and AT&T will give you a PUK code to unlock it once they verify you are the account holder.
do a search you can unlock it here online by dowloading and flashing a couple things
Hi, I have a rooted G1, I was wondering if there was a way to unlock it so it can work with other networks. If not please just say no, I don't want people flaming me lol.
Yes, the phone can be unlocked regardless of root.
When you put a different SIM in the phone will ask for an unlock code. Both methods require you handing over your IMEI located under the battery of the phone.
If you've been a tmo customer for longer than 90 days phone them and say you're going to another country, they will give you the code.
If not, you'll need to buy an unlock code, it will cost around £10/$17. You give them your IMEI and they send you the code.

That hasn't been achieved yet, supposedly the SIM lock goes deeper than the SPL... or something
There is an alternative.

I haven't tried it myself but I hear that it works just fine.
Worth a shot.
Hello!
I found cheap milestone for sell, but it was blocked by operator (could be stolen, I don't know, the seller says it's because the guy who selled him had an obligation) now I wonder if I buy it can I unblock it? and use it normaly?
only CDMA phones can have bad ESN, so you are most likely looking at a CDMA Milestone (like Telos one).
if that's really what you need, it can't be unlocked but it can be flashed to a different CDMA carrier and should work fine.

no it's a gsm phone the seller says it was blocked after some time he used it... now he is selling it for cheap price because he cannot use it, I'm not sure if it got bad ESN, but it's blocked as I understood from his words, and not for sim as it seems?
If it is gsm and it's locked out, it could be locked out using it's IMEI number which cannot be changed by flashing rom.

so if it's stolen as I guess (even though he says it was blocked because the owner didn't pay the bills) where I will get the IMEI unlock code

What?
I think you misunderstand what an unlock code is. A subsidy unlock code will allow you to use the phone on a different network by switching the sim. This will NOT allow you to unlock a banned IMEI on the same network.
If you want an unlock code, i have had very good service from www.gsmliberty.net.
If you are hoping to stay on the same network, there is nothing you can do to change the IMEI and are out of luck.

well is it possible to change imei? and how will I know which one to choose? also can I use imei from another phone that I'm not using? or it supposed to be motorola milestone one?
it is not possible to (legally) change the IMEI as far as I know.
if it was, that would open thousands of possibilities of fraud, even identity theft in some cases.
for example, many apps, providers, etc. link your IMEI to your bills.
see why that would be bad?
i get from your posts that you didn´t buy the phone yet?
i would advise you NOT TO BUY IT.
it sounds VERY fishy.
thanks, probably I won't buy it even though it costs 60$
Hello there.
I bought a Motorola Atrix HD with the purpose of using it in Tmobile with Tzones. The thing is that ive been trying to buy the unlock code and no luck so far. Its been 10 unlock services sellers and every one of them tell me that my Imei have been rejected or not working ? they refund the money and thats it, nobody tell me nothing.....
Anything of this had happen to anyone here ?
That mean is another scrap phone i bought ?
thx
Sorry didn't have this issue. The unlock code took a bit longer to get on this phone than any other, but they sent it to me within 7 days.
I used unlockunit
Sim Network Unlock
My Atrix HD doesn't seem to want to read my sim card. It SHOULD ask me to input a sim network unlock code, but it doesn't. Is there a way to force that prompt? I ask this as I wait for a unlock code from an unlocker site.

the only way i know is turning off your phone, insert the other provider sim (it needs to be already activated/working) then turn it on and you will see the prompt
Sometimes phones sold are stolen and reported then there imei numbers are bad or frozen the original owner needs to reclaim it if that's the case in order for the imei to be unlocked

You don't need to pay. If you are lff-contract, then you can call AT&T and they will give you an unlock code, free of charge. I have done it on multiple phones.
