[Q] Problem with resolution - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to record a video of the Galaxy Note using MHL cable + of course HDMI cable and PCI-E Card Blackmagic Intensity Pro. But then it turned out that the program can't display the image from the phone because the resolution of the Galaxy Note is not standard (1280x800). Standard is e.g 720p (1280x720)
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
PS: Sorry for my English D:
PS2: I made double thread, I'm sorry, I don't know where is Delete Option.

UP. Please help D:

if just connect the samsung tab to the LCD monitor by hdmi. But without playing videos, let say, i open a game app, will i still see the game screen on both LCD and tab monitor?
thanks!
HDMI cable output is video player or certain apps like Netflix. The image on the LCD is portrait, and is mirrored and doesn't time out.
You need the cable that isn't quite HD quality, but will mirror everything on your screen. It has RCA video and sound connectors (red, white, yellow). I use that for my classroom connected to a projector. I got it from Amazon for less than $10.
Here's a link to a popular cable.

[Q] Xperia-MHL-HDMI-DVI-MONITOR

Hi, I read lot of forums and tricks, how to show phone screen on PC monitor with only DVI and VGA input. My problem is, that I can do this, but...On my LG 20" monitor, screen is only landscape and 480p, horizontal and vertical lines are black, simply bad(Movies and games graphics is creepy). And after connection shows some warning about HDCP (I know its a protection....) On HDMI TV MHL adapter works great. Xperia SP support 720p resolution, so where is the problem? Wrong DVI adapter? TV BOX and LG Monitor works fine via HDMI (720p), MHL adapter work too, HDMI all the same.Sorry that I post new thread, but I nowhere find solution for this. Sorry for my bad english.
Btw. My monitor LG FLATRON W2043T-PF support HDCP.
Maybe thats why XperiaSP TV out is made to work with HDMI not with DVI??
One more. Your monitor support 1280x720 resolution as well. But that doesn't mean that it support 720p (1280x720 with progressive scan). Signal from computer is a little diffrent than this from other devices. You have to look and experiment with your video card settings. Try change horizontal and vertical sync. Maybe try using Powerstrip to do this.

DeX Pad working with WQHD 2560X1440p resolution - evidence & solutions

Here I want to put some screenshots from two YouTube videos about Samsung Dex which shows unlocked (not greyed out) option for WQHD 2560x1440p resolution which gives desired resolution on monitor. Unfortunately, in both videos they using Samsung monitors. This arise question that WQHD resolution is option only for Samsung monitor. I dont know anibody that post screenshot with enabled WQHD resolution on monitors from other vendors.
Is there any solution to get WQHD on other displays which support that resolution or we can say that this question is obsolete and that there is no solution for that problem? On developer.samsung page I saw some runtime options for modifying Dex app including to change resolution to WQHD.
I tested Dex Pad with original HDMI to HDMI cable on Note 8 and get qreyed out option for WQHD (on Sony 55XE8505 4K TV which have no support for MHL). In screen mirroring I get 4k 4096x2160 at 60hz.

I've been getting x1440 in Dexmode on a non-Sam monitor using a non-Sam DeX hookup. If that matters to your test.
Thanks. What is the TV model and non-Sam Dex hookup, and what is the settings on TV? I dont understand where is the problem. Many people reported same problem.
Modified the DEX environment a bit in my custom ROM (swapped 2560x1440 with 3440x1440) and can confirm that works with official dock on the LG 34UC98-W. (So I assume 2560x1440 would)
Only thing not working is HDR and 10-bit color, but I think thats more of a problem with the DEX hardware and how its outputting
Could you let us know how you modified the ROM to enable higher Dex resolutions?

Thanks!! But at the max resolution how does the text look on the lapdock? Sadly, my eyes are not as good as they used to be....
Thanks again for posting! [emoji106]
TrungHTC, can you post the screenshot with checked WQHD option, not FHD. The WQHD option on your screenshot is greyedout which mean that can't be enabled. This is my situation, and still no solution with official Note 8 firmware.
I have an older Samsung 4k monitor, not the QLED one. Using International Exynos version of Note 8. I Just tried 3 different adapters.
AmazonBasics Type-C to HDMI adapter, it only goes upto 1080p, 2560x1440 is greyed out. I also get message that I should use genuine Samsung adapter or somethin.
LC-dolica USB C hub. Without power going to it, it does not work, not even a USB drive. But when I gave it power, it let me pick 2560x1440! I returned it though since I'm not too keen about having it plugged into the power.. plus the port wont fit in my Note 8 case.
Samsung Type-C to HDMI adapter. 2560x1440 option is greyed out again! However I dont see any "should use genuine Samsung adapter" message. But still.. no 2k option, I might as well just get the cheaper AmazonBasics adapter.
Edit*: I wonder if this cable will work? Samsung DeX Cable USB Type-C to HDMI. Anyone want to try it out?
If there's some file modification we can do on phone that lets us pick 2k option, I'm willing to root it too.

I read reports from others being able to use something else than a DeX pad. I was not able to get that resolution with other than the DeX pad. I'm using a viewsonic right now. I can use HDMI, Displayport and Mini display port to achieve the resolution with a macbook pro. I can use a USB-C to HDMI and a USB-C to DP/mini DP no problem. The same cables, on the Note 9 only get the FHD option. I know the cables and monitor are capable since they were in use seconds before, and that the Note 9 is also capable, since I am using it in WQHD right now. So the only explanation I can see, if Samsung test for someting when plugged in, and so far only the DeX pad met those requirements. I can't even change the charge on the DeX pad. I have a multi charger on my desk, I could use a thunderbolt 3 cable to power it. It supports QC 3.0, and 9v to 5v. But not Adaptive Fast Charge that uses the same voltage/amp. Weird.
Anyhow, it's the only config that worked for me. I would like to know if there's anything more portable that support higher resolution for when I travel. Otherwise, no big deal. I have been using the HP LapDock at FHD when I travel, and since the screen is only 11", FHD does not look bad.
My 2 cents.
bump. the link given is gone
Thanks guys
I am trying Note 8 (Pie of September) with Dell D6000 USB-C Dock
1) I confirm WQHD 1440p is greyd out for the External Monitor when i go to DEX Settings
2) I also confirm the D6000 Dock works with HP Laptop and same screen and cables at 1440p, so just not the right dock
3) I try now the same setup with the older DEX Station and will report later... I love that Ethernet on the DEX Station

SAMSUNG DEX on NOTE 9 - resolution fix ??

Hello community,
First off, sorry if this is in the wrong forum and if this was posted before.
Anyway, I recently got the Dex pad and connected it to my note 9. ALMOST everything works perfectly, even the wireless logitech k400+ keyboard. The only thing missing is that I only have 1600x900 and 1920x1080 resolution. Everything else is greyed out ... and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to enable the 1440p resolution on the dex pad.
Read online and someone said that third-party USB-C to HDMI adapter might work, as long as it doesn't have an ethernet port ... this sounds weird but I'm giving it a try, just ordered one and waiting for delivery. Also, many people say the monitor must support the resolution natively, mine does and it was still only 1080p.
Anyone has a solution to this ? How do we get 1440p resolution for the dex pad on note 9 ?
Thanks.
For me it was the other way. If I connect straight to the monitor I don't get 1440p, but if I got via the dex pad I get the option.
That is what I read, the extra cooling / capabilities of the dex pad was required to push the higher res.
