hi,
im planning to buy samsung galaxy note. im new to android.
so i dont know much about android.
read some people suufering with dead pixels on their screen. so can anybody tell me any other problems i need to check in the phone before buying.
il probably root my phone as soon as i buy it. so before rooting are there any things like taking a back up of the system files(i mean a rom with all the system files so that i can restore to the factory state if there occurs any problem later).
what is tun.ko module. read it somewhere in openvpn installation tutorial. where can i download these files for samsung galaxy note. or please suggest me how can i install openvpn on samsung galaxy note.
any body please answer the post
My Note doesnt have any dead or stuck pixels. However, there is a light pink color bleed on the right edge of the screen and a small pink blotch in the center of the screen when the color grey is displayed. This does not appear when any other color is displayed.

I think the main problem is the screen(in my case anyways).....so just put the phones brightness right down and check for dead pixels and dark bandings....good luck and hope you enjoy your new Note...
@speedofheat and dmax99
thanks for the reply guys... what abt the tun.ko module???

Hi everyone,
The last few days I've been trying to revive my friends Galaxy S i9000.
He brought it to me when his screen all of a sudden wouldn't work anymore. All that it puts out are faint green, pixelated lines.
At first I thought it to be a crashed ROM or something, so I hooked it up to Odin and started flashing.
Two days later I've been through a whole lot of ROM's, ranging from stock Froyo's to custom ROM's with SpeedKernel I run on my own (still working ) Galaxy S.
All to no avail. The last ROM I flashed is the stock Samsung Gingerbread one, and I can hear the phone booting with the startup sound and all, even hear the keytones when I go over the touchscreen.
But still... the screen is either black, or when I wait a while after booting, looks like the image attached to this post.
I'm starting to think this is a hardware problem. I have already opened up the case but can't see anything wrong, all the connectors and ribbon cables attached to 'em look just fine.
Any suggestions or should I just get a replacement SAMOLED from eBay?
Any help is much appreciated, thanks!
this mofo is dead as hell...
Haha yeah I guess... but it still functions as a phone, with the startup sounds and all, vibrate also works, it's just the screen that's not functioning like it should...
The problem seems to be with the screen, get it checked by any local mobile repairer if it isnt under warranty !
I checked through the forum pages that some of other folks are also getting this problem. Not on G-Note but on G-S2 and G-Tab.
e.g. here and here
Quite evidently, the problem is with samsung.
Its like if there is a wallpaper with a color gradient, say grey at one end and black on the other; the screen shows me some area with grey and then there would be a sudden transition to black. More like a grey band and a black band put together. Looks real bad, I tell you.
Now I am rooted, on Abyss Kernel 2.5. (Stock ROM though) and I've absolutely no idea what my BINARY COUNTER is. So I am scared if I take back the phone to the Samsung guys to ask for repair/replacement, they might send me back after telling me that the warranty is void.
The purpose of this thread is to seek help to either help me resolve that issue or help me roll back to the stock ROM with 0 binary counter, so that I can go ahead with the RMA procedure.

Thanks for that link bud but that thing looks like a half cooked recipe. TBH I don't really rely on that thing and don't wanna risk bricking the phone. Also where can I get that jig ?
Ok I just realized, its not any issue with the note, its with the software.
This post really saved me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350695

so events like this. I often mutually exchange oblack rom, then I edit the build prop.

I have to admit i didn't really understand the problem. But if your device is stuck in bootloop use smartflash tool.
Yeah, I didn't understood too... Flash the ROM again as an update to see if it work.
Hey everyone, Having an issue hoping for a solution on. My Sprint Galaxy Tab S2 wont boot at all, wont (atleast show) charging, Odin isnt picking it up, and Smartswitch is telling me its not connected to the pc either. I put my S/N into SS but it comes back saying wrong SN each time I try again. Technically I am within my 1 yr however, Ive rooted it also so bye bye warranty... Anyone that can throw me a bone? Id sure appreciate it!
I noticed my volume button is also sticking a bit but Im not sure its even part of the issue. The phone died (hard bricked?!?) during an update I believe. Im hoping I can recover the device especially because in the past Ive done the same with my Note 3 and Note 4 and have been able to locate the proper resources to recover with odin even when odin didnt see it at first. (Dunno I did it but I know it was some awesome advice from xda-devs that had obviously been there with past noobs. If theres anyone that could refresh my memory or hand me the news that I'll need to seek proper burial for this dead stick I sure would appreciate it regardless....
thanks all
:good:
Thanks

Hi guys I have just bought another Samsung Galaxy Tab S this time the Tab S2 T719Y. It has the same problem as my other Tab S. That is the screen just goes blank if it is moved from the vertical, while reading or sometimes just because it can, sometimes it just wakes up if you move it a fraction of an inch and then goes black again. It is frustrating the hell out of me. I have not rooted it yet I was hoping there is an easier fix, even opening up and resoldering was done on the Tab S but it made no real difference. Is this a common pain for Samsung tablets if so is there an easy fix. rooting if necessary if that will fix it. I dont need the latest and greatest ROM just a stable tablet on 7.0 is fine. Thanks for any advice.
It looks like the cover, ebay purchase, may be a factor.
