+20MB Ram Fix - Gingerbread Situation - LG Optimus 2x

Hello, I decided to open this thread to understand the situation of +20MB Ram Fix on Gingerbread ROM, MoDaCo is currently offering this service, but does not explain how to do it by yourself, so, someone can make a guide to be useful at all? exactly what needs to modify in Settings.apk?
If someone posts a guide I will be happy to include it in the first post

Take an original and modified setting.apk and compare yourself
(I'm not a dev... I think just)

It 's my SIM.
However, I figured out how to do probably, as soon as I have time, place a guide.

Topogigi made a trick like that to use ram normally used by LG Ota, that is in fact not used at least in Europe. Besides removing omadm client he did something in services I guess, perhaps you could find a clue in his thread.

20 mb ram fix.. for a device with 512 mb it very well !!!

From memory, you don't need to do anything other than remove the ovdm apk, but attempting to check for updates from settings causes an FC.

Correct. Stops settings/about working all together however.

See here my post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20504844&postcount=4348
Topogigi made a hack in Settings.apk to resolve the problem. It seems to work with V20M too.

Works great thanks

Is this file for V20M only ? Can it be used with V20L or is there another version of Settings.apk ?

It was based on v20e, it works on 20m so it should work on 20l.

[ROM] 8/26 Leak Lite w/ Sense

Hey guys,
Moved this from a previous thread to avoid confusion.
Details:
Based off of Froyo leak from 8/26
Rooted
Zipaligned
Deodexed
Busybox installed
Capable of custom boot animations
Removed Verizon's bloat (e.g. Footprints, VZNav, 3g Hot Spot, My Verizon, Skype)
This will not update the radio. Instructions for doing so can be found here. All credit for that guide goes to dadicus. I had nothing to do with it.
Installation:
NANDROID!!!!
Must have root, NAND unlock, and be running a version of the 2.x radio to utilize all features.
A wipe is recommended to ensure no hiccups
Can be installed either by clockwork recovery of through ROM Manager
NOTICES:
I take no responsibility for any problems or damages that may occur. It is unlikely that this could cause any irreparable damages, but there is always a chance.

No offense or anything...but I don't see how the removal of 4-6 apps which takes 5 seconds requires a whole ROM...
wow everyones beating me to making a rom off of the leak

Would be more beneficial to just make an update.zip that removes the apps. It would save you about 99% of the size of the ROM.
Hey great rom but you should also really remove /system/etc/CDROM.ISO which is the most annoying popup/nag verizon put on their OTA.
does the new leak fix the slow charging problems?
if I'm running the 2.0.5 radio will this update me to the newer 2.x.x radio?

I don't think it has for me...
I wont know till I go through a whole cycle to make sure my battery status is being reported correctly, but seems to be the same speed. Maybe a touch faster. Used to be 25% in an hour, I had 35% in the first hour I charged it this time. But that too couldve been misrepresented by the fact that I haven't cycled at all yet.
FWIW, I'm not using this ROM, but the one that has the bloatware.

[MOD] Battery Percentage Mod - alternative version

Hello,
I have made some modifications to MaliciousKen's mod of the battery percentage for stock rom:
Changes:
- the main change is to show the percentage even during charging; I based on MaliciousKen's graphic files and just made some changes in the xml
- based on v10d stock rom's framework-res.apk
- retain music notification in the status bar (i.e. same as stock version, you can disable it in Music's setting; there seems no problem in v10d version on this)
This is my first time modifying an apk! Please have a try and let me know if there is any problem
Any screenshots pls??
Will it work on mcr10?
No. This version is for stock ROM.
How do i install this ?
Read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007863
You'll install it as is (archive) with option "install zip from sd card".

If you will make this mistake, do a backup first. In case you don't ,you must flash a new rom.
Just a warning, maybe you have anything else to do these days.

Sorry if it has caused trouble. Now I have uploaded another one based on MaliciousKen's version directly. So hopefully this should work for v10a/b/c.
Do make a backup (at least copy out your original framework-res.apk) before you try.

However, if either of the above works for anyone, please kindly let me know.
As said, it's the first time I modified an apk file, so when I found it successful (on my phone), I'm so excited to share here. Too bad if it only works on my phone
I have re-built the apks with another method and tested ok. Please have a try if you have time

which xml file should I edit in order to build a working apk ?
I tried to modify the stat_sys_battery.xml and stat_sys_battery_charge.xml
and I have also put the image file in correct place..
using APKmanager to compile and sign ...
I just got boot loop afterall -__-
Anything I have missed ?
the 1st xml is for the normal display of the icon while the other one is during charging (animation)
i used apktool 1.3.1
(note the latest apktool is 1.3.2 but this one appears buggy, i also had the boot loop with it)

Looking at it, the zip is 120MB ish. It would probably fit on a 160MB system. Just make sure you have a cwm backup and/or fastboot handy
EDIT: Needs 250MB. Tried without, and it wouldn't boot
I could be v20e. v20e is "rare" only released in baltic region and i think CES too (no idea what CES is). How did you make this rom? Softmod some elses rom or? really interested in finding out.
Edit: Can someone confirms that init.d works? I think Quarx said that init.d wont work with 2.1

I own an LG Optimus Black KU5900 model (KOREA), so use any rom's, but my banda base remains always the same (V30I.FLS), I wish someone with more experience, explain to me if this has something to do with the battery consumption, because I live in Brazil and I believe that my battery dies faster than you should.

There is something like this for our OB, but it only works up to GB. It's called GetRIL. See here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5zaWJib3IuZ2V0cmlsIl0.
Maybe contact the dev, so he can update it to ICS. It is incompatible there, cause the phone name in build.prop has changed. If you change it back, you should be able to use it again. But there will only be files for cm7, GB and maybe Froyo. You can simply change the lge-ril.so in /system/libs I think, that's all this app does. Take it from your local ROM (just copy it to your harddrive or sdcard) and replace it in the ROM you wanna have it in.

And if it is possible to change something in *. FLS BRAZIL to get it to recognize my IMEI correctly.

[mod] Tweaked build.prop for better performance and ram usage on D415

I tweaked the build.prop on the D415. I find it manages RAM better than stock when combined with my kernel. However, startup and the ten minutes of using it after startup will be SUPER laggy, so give it around 15 minutes of using it before you judge wheter to keep it or not. I can now keep multiple applications open at once!
Edit: forgot to add link, oops: http://1drv.ms/1dDVdis It's a flashable zip btw.
EDIT: version 2 (not as laggy): http://1drv.ms/1LdFAg1
Just 2 questions, ignore if you aren't in mood for answering:
1. Will there be a D405n version?
2. Will you add those tweaks to your kernel for custom roms?
Once again, sorry for that, I know it must be frustrating
Can you tell us what exactly did you change in your build.prop ?

1. Yeah, I'll probably make one, but I gotta finish xkernel for d405n first because I just figured out the version I released won't boot. I'm busy this weekend, so that will probably happen in a few days.
2. No, some of these tweaks do not apply at the kernel level.

Lg stores minfree values in build.prop. I changed those to be less aggressive. I changed maximum apps to a really high number to let the lmk do the killing. I also applied some of the tweaks from here (such as panorama quality, etc):http://niranjanthilak.com/improving...evice-through-optimizing-build-prop-settings/
Note that I did enable lock launcher into memory, so disable that if you don't like it. If you're interested on the exact properties, run a diff between the one included in the zip and the stock one.
And this works on any D415 ROM?

An interesting thing to do would be to grab the build.prop of phones with similar specs and compare them.
Obviously ignoring garbage brands and going after more flagship (older obviously) type phones which would have seen the most usage.

On the D415 version, a lot of lines have been added that weren't previously there by apps like pimpmyrom. I don't know if those tweaks actually work if the lines weren't originally there, so I didn't add them to the d405n version. I just tweaked the lines that were already there.
