[Q] Phone does not detect External SD Card after Cyanogen 7.1 upgrade

My phone does not detect External SD card after update to Cyanogen 7.1.
When I click on the card from within Internal SD card it shows empty.
pls help!

Look for the card in /mnt/emmc
its there and not under EXT_sd

why has this changed and how can i make it work with es file manager which is better?

have the same issue on a SGS2. it don't see my 16Gig SD card in es-file explorer.
When i connect to my PC via usb and turn on USB storage both the 16Gig and 11gig storage locations are accessible. but on the device i have to use File Manger and navigate to /mnt/emmc to view the files.
This sux what is going? is this normal or have i installed something wrong?

As said previously, you still need to look under /mnt/emmc in ES file manager
CM7.1 is Android, not Samsung.

yeah, and to do that you need to change the mount point in settings to /

I started custom ROM from CM9, everything went fine except that in CWM it won't detect my external SD.

that's normal for CM9 (i had the same problem, don't worry your sdcard is fine) just install "Rescan SD Card!" from the playstore or anorher file manager. it only happens the first time you flash CM9.

[Q] Best way to swap contents of internal & external SD cards

I need help to swap contents of the internal SD card of my O2x to a new larger SD card and swap contents of the old SD card to the internal card . Aslo, I want to make the External card as the default card for storage and installing apps .. Could some one point me to the right forum/post OR tell me what is the best way to do this . I Know how to make external card default via Cm7 settings ,but am not sure how to swap data & apps in the most convenient way .. Ps reply I'm running out of space.. Thanks in advance
I'm running Temasek's CM7 Kang

Copy everything from internal, paste to new folder, then copy everything from external, copy to new folder2, switch the internal to external option from CM7, reflash your ROM (most apps will have been used you seeing one partition as a place to store all their data and such, so this is recommended). Then paste everything where it belongs.

Wont that interfer with market settings and data downloaded by apps (for e.g. the huge game files downloaded by games ) ? Also wont I have to re-install apps again ? Have you tried this approach ?

Not at the moment, because its going to be connected via USB Storage and wont be used by the phone.
And read the end, I answered that question.

Hi there,
I recently got an 32 gb sd card but have just realised that apps such as Deezer will only use the phones internal phone storage.
I think my only option is to somehow get the phone to use the SD card as it main memory - will this work? Will I have to root my phone?

Those are for root. And for how mount sd card i used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2123369 (just look for your model)

sorry..i can access settings...i just can't access the storage part of it...should i be worried?

[Q] external card problem

Hi, I have problem with seeing my external card. In some apps I see external card(like Poweramp), but in total comander I cant external card see. I have latest Slim 4.3 rom and Semaphore kernel. Can somebody help me?

The way the external_sd is mounted in ICS roms and above is different, for some unknown reason.
In GB roms its /sdcard/external_sd
In ICS roms and above its usually /storage/sdcard1
Its still able to be read by apps like Poweramp because they still scan both the internal and external storage. However some file explorers like Total Commander can't see them probably because they don't allow the user to go outside of the internal memory when exploring files, or in other words the file managers can't explore root folders (which is a shame because the only access to the external sd is through root folders).
There have been workarounds but I've never got them working.
Your best choice is to use another file manager app that does let you access /storage/sdcard1.

[Q] Unmountable sdcards after flashing 4.4?

So.. I did what I planned for this weekend - installing the Carbon 4.4.2 rom. ^^
But I have a problem..
In recovery, when I select "Mount USB storage", my computer can detect both the internal storage and the external sdcard. But I can't move files to any of them. I can't even read files.
First, I thought this was a driver issue, but yesterday I noticed that I couldn't move Dolphin Browser's download location to ext sdcard.
It appears that the internal storage is listed twice in the storage directory, while only one of the links is working. The external sd however is listed only once and unfortunately not working.. :/
And by the way, any file managers work just fine. I have full access to the ext sd there..

Hmm..mine also..using J1 ace 2015 android 4.4.4..also cannot move/copy pictures/music to ext sdcard..weird..is it samsung or google problem??annoying!!
