Hi - apologies if this sounds like a rant but my Galaxy S (andriod 2.2) is possibly the worst handset i've ever bought. I'm using it for about 8 months now and anything but the most basic activities are so slow i've stopped using them. the handset regularly freezes when I try and use the yahoo mail, facebook or whatsapp apps, and sometimes I can't even seem to receive an incoing call despite multiple swipes. I usually have to force-restart by taking out the battery pack 2-3 times a week. I dont have too many applications loaded either. I was told to try 2.3 Gingerbread but Kies doesn't let me upgrade.
Any suggestions for a relative novice as far as technology goes would be much appreciated. Should I write off this model entirely and change to a better one?
Thanks, Ani
Get familiar with odin and upgrade using that. Kies is a pain most of the time. Do a total wipe of phone, cache, and reformat sd card... Should be fine after that.

when you wipe your phone by dalvik, wipecache, reformat, etc. Do you have to reboot every time between those steps?

Hi,
I suddenly got a lot of force close on my phone and made me have to reboot the phone.
I see that those force close started after the internal sd card scan, I am curious that if it may be the problem of the internal sd card.
Even I did the factory reset, it still keep on having the same issue. I rooted my phone. I dont know if I need to get it to the customer services or can handle it by myself.
Can anyone gives some suggestion?
Try to flash xxkb3

Thanks for your reply,
May I know what is the purpose of flashing xxkb3?
To fix the firmware?
If yes, the phone is flashed with the original firmware by the samsung's customer services yesterday.
Its a mysterious thing.u should replace the done.

It seems that it may be related to the internal sd card, sometimes, I dont know when, the sd card is not detected by my phone and cause the issue. May be I should take to the customer service center.
Thanks
Take it back to care centre.

Take it back to care centre.out can also happen when internal memory is corrupted, only solution in such situation is replacing mother board.

i think my phone got slower? or it maybe cause of the external memory? i put all the big games. any help?
Dear all,
I have recently rooted my Samsung galaxy note using this method:www .cursed4eva.com/root-galaxy-note/ which worked very well and i had no issues.
I then installed Beats audio pro from the play store and thats when i started to get issues like crashes and such so i uninstalled the app, then thats when i started to get a error message saying "Process system not responding" which would result in me losing control of my keyboard and i completely lost service and was unable to make calls etc(O2 UK).
I then performed a factory wipe and cleared the cache but this has made matters worse now when i reboot it only shows up for a couple of minutes then shows the "process system not responding" error message then goes to a blank screen with only the two lights at the bottom showing and i cant use my phone at all.
Please Help ill paypal anyone who can get my phone to work again.

Not sure what the point of the last thread was. It's possible that the hot fixed had a virus? Be careful about the sites you choose for Android tweaks, it's incredibly susceptible to viruses. I could be way off here.

Am I missing something here. Where did the virus come from?
It's not difficult to add things into an app. They're saying that someone could have embedded a virus in what he used for root, to hijack his phone.

Thats a nice situation there,
Cannot go to download mode anymore?
Then i guess its bricked, (no soft and hard brick for me since as long as ypu can recover it, its not bricked)
Suggestion =
if it still has warranty, then let sammy do their job and bring it to them,
If not , better bring it to a tech since not many experience that white screen here,

Now I found his thread here.
sweynmonillas, he has a CDMA device.
Overcome method screwed his tab for good.
Next time be careful when recommending Overcome to others.
Ouch, didn't know that.
Sorry mate,
May i ask what is the difference between his unit and those p1000's around?
sent from my nokia 3110 using sms.
Basically it has different innards and works for CDMA network.
Their ROMs are not interchangeable.
Must be treated as a different device.

I've had this phone since October, but I decided to upgrade to a Skyrocket i727. I flashed this to CM10.1 back in May, and a guy from down the street wants it with the current ROM I have installed. However, I'm a bit concerned about the personal data on it. Should I do a full flash to stock, then reflash CM? Or will I be able to accomplish the same thing by going to: Settings>Backup & reset>Factory data reset. I want to be able to hand him the phone and it be as if I just flashed CM10.1.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
If it were me, I would flash back to stock, root and install CM. Let him do the Google Set Up.
Unless you just need the the money...... I kept my Cappy when I upgraded. I unlocked it and use it as a backup phone and a multi media player.

I considered this, but I'm trying to help him out. I went to high school with his wife. He dunked his iPhone in the pool. Thought an Android might turn him from the dark side!

you can do a secure DOD wipe before factory reset. there are apps on google play for this. uninstall all your user apps, except the secure wipe tool. delete your google and email profiles. then run the secure wipe when rooted. do a factory reset.
should do it.
Sent via Monty Pythons Flying Circus
Everything you need to do is to move all your files on SD card or PC and do Factory Reset. All personal data will be erased, including Google accounts.
Thanks for all the tips guys!

They might if they see it is rooted. Due to liability
But these guys aren't exactly high end technicians with high paying jobs just normal people say please and explain they can't make it worse.

Wow. Tricky one right there. Usually a stock firmware flash would do it. Anything else that you've done to your phone before the battery went dry ?
