[Q] Bootloader unlock and Omnius problem - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
today i sim-unlocked my Xperia X8 using Omnius, but now i want to unlock the bootloader to install a different kernel from the stock kernel.
Following the instructions below http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225, when i start the file msm7227_omniusSL.cmd i get this:
------

but than if i verify with s1tool, i get the message (RUNNING S1_EROM VER" R8A029 ") and so bootloader has not been unlocked.
Does anyone know a solution?
I used Omnius for SE v0.27
Thanks a lot

I have the same problem ...

me too...any news?

Same for me!
Any of you with original 2.1??? Maybe it only works on original 2.1, I remember that I had to change from rom to original 2.1 so I could unlock with Omnius.

I tried with the original 2.1 and with other 2.2/2.3 but it's the same

Hi,
I have been making some experiences and I think that all of us want to unlock boot loader to be able to change kernel.
So it's true that using the omnius method it doesn't work but if we use semc method it works, but we loose radio.
So my idea was:
1- Unlock with SEMC method
2- Apply custom kernel
3- Unlock with Omnius method (this will relock bootloader but recover radio)
I have tried 1 and 3 and worked, I'm just affraid that also doing nº2 might bring some problems, what's your opinion?
Found my answer!-""If you relock your bootloader while using a custom kernel your phone will be bricked!""

Somebody already unlocked bootloader anyone of you?

I have searched I never found anyone that sim-unlocked with omnius and then unlocked bootloader

I just found out this myself. After wasting $100 (Sale Price) for the omnius unlocker. They never stated anywhere that it would relock bootloader, nor did they mention it could be unlocked. After an inquiry, I was told that msm7227_OmniusSL.cmd should help me...? So I am off on another research adventure. Not to mention I cannot even get my phone to "register on the network". Anyone want a Omnius License with 11months and 2weeks with 4 x10 unlock credits? I take paypal! I just knew I should have ordered the sekey and waited a month for it to arrive from hong kong. I truly feel like I got the "Royal Shaft!".
Can anyone help?

@unimatrix725 if you made a backup of your TA, then you could restore your TA as it was before you unlocked with omnius, so you can unlock your bootloader, the only downside is that your phone will be sim-locked once again, oh and watch out, because you can only restore TA with an active omnius account, i.e. have a 1 day/month/year account, so if you want to restore your TA you should do it before selling your credits
i hate that the only safe way to have both bootloader and sim unlocked is with setools, because the credits i dont mind, but the activation fee is too much price for unlocking one phone

well, for our x8 device,we can actually unlock bootloader using flashtool(latest one)
here a complete tutorial with picture that i manage to safe as pdf file(for my future use) and i think it might help, but it actually from x10 forum, however i already test it myself, and work it for our x8,to unlock the bootloader, follow this step carefully
press thanks if i help

he he he, sorry i think i misspoke that, what i meant was have unlocked sim with setools and unlock bootloader with any other method, not necessary both with setools , if someone could fix the my7227bootwrite_omniusSL so everyone that unlocked their sim with omnius could unlock the bootloader would be great, but i haven't seen any dev interested in helping us ...

OK EVERYONE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM HERE IS HOW TO FIX IT!! After network unlocking your phone with Omnius and you then want to unlock the bootloader follow this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225. You will be using tool msm7227_setool2.cmd to unlock your bootloader. When you have unlock the bootloader install a custom kernel then install your custom rom I suggest GingerDx. (I am not going to get into how to flash a custom kernel or roms there is loads of threads to help you with that). You will notice the network does not work (no coverage). Download the stock kernel from the link above. Flash the stock kernel then use msm7227_OmniusSL.cmd to lock your bootloader. This may take a few times and a bit of patience before the bootloader locks. Now you will have coverage and be able to use any sim card in your phone. Custom kernels dont work after using omnius network unlock tool. It always ends up with no coverage. So just stay on stock kernel. If you need to update your rom you will have to go through the whole method again. I have attached the bootloader unlocking/relocking tools below
I HOPE THIS HELPED EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM IF YOU NEED ANY HELP PM AND I WILL HELP THE BEST I CAN

I want to try this, but I've a dumb question... why do I need to install the custom kernel and then the stock one? .... why not just flash the rom alone?

Please answer all questions.
1) What is the best and easiest way of unlocking the bootloader?
2) After unlocking my bootloader, how do I switch ROMs, Is it like normal or do I need to go back to 2.1 first AND GO BACK TO STOCK KERNEL?
3) Do I need to be on stock ROM to unlock my boorloader?
4) What is the best kernel and ROM combination for you? - PLEASE ANSWER THE POLL ABOVE.
5) Can I Sim Unlock my phone later after unlocking the bootloader?
6) How do I return back to stock kernel?
7) If I go back to stock ROM will my bootloader be locked again?
8) If my phone gets accidentally bricked during bootloader unlock process, can I unbrick it?
Please answer all my questions. And please explain everything as I am a total noob. Thanks.

YEAH...what the proper prepaired????
this my answer..
1) look on my signature (easiest guide unlocking bootloader)
2) flash custom kernel and flash rom (no need back to 2.1 or stock)
3) Yes Unlocking with stock rom
4) It depend on U (for me i wanna the rom with the nice and beauty colour one)
I use "TIM3 v1" + "nAa v8b" ( I mean where u wanna go with fast speed?)
5) YES
6) Use flash tool and download stock kernel (search it on XDA)
7) NO -u can unlock by easiest guide (on my signature there)
8) U can't DIY...(if your phone still under warranty send to them)
for me i got 4 times hardbricked and they repair for me without fee
BUT PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICE IS 11W28 BELOW
(see on phone..PULL OUT YOUR BATTERY AND YOU CAN FIND THERE
hope this help
1.The easiest way to unlock bootloader is with s1 tool. Just connect your phone with usb debugging on and open s1tool and unlock bootloader.( It might brick your phone, I dont recommend you to unlock bootloader)
2.Unlocking bootloader does not change your rom, If you are on 2.1 then it will not affect it. Switching between roms is very easy, just use recovery. For kernel use flashtool
3.You dont need to be on stock rom to unlock bootloader, it can be done through custom roms also
4.From my opinion alfs v6+gingierdx is great. It is very fast for daily use but not very good for hd games.
5.Dont know
6.You can always return back to stock kernel using flashtool and stock kernel ftf
7.Your bootloader will not be lock if you go back to stock rom
8.You cant unbrick your phone if it is bricked during unlocking bootloader, you have to send it to sony ericsson for repair
Thanks very much guys, but I am scared if I brick my device as I can't unbrick it then
I told u...check the MFC date (pull out your battery)
see the **W** (date of manufactoring)
If '11W28' = 2011 week 28
bellow 11W28 is safe..
Above 11W29 is risky..
but nobody force u to unlocking it..
but (also) some nice and beauty rom need custom rom
it totally can't run on stock rom...that why i got my 4th bricked yesterday..
and got a new X8 today with 11W23....
release my tension because can't unlocking bootloader

NO.. not for a hardbrick....
check out some newest threads here which hard brick because of bootloader unlock.. almost all of them not solved and go to SE center..
Ya unlocking bootloader is a bit risky!
Be Careful if your planning to unlock it.
Thanks guys for your help, I really apreciate it. For me the date is not a problem. However is there a possibility of getting bricked during unlocking the bootloader? Well atleaset has anyone bricked their device by unlocking the bootloader and fix it without sending the phone?

U mean if we go back to stock 2.1 with unlocked bootloader, we get bricked?
1) What is the best and easiest way of unlocking the bootloader? From 2nd reply.
2) After unlocking my bootloader, how do I switch ROMs, Is it like normal or do I need to go back to 2.1 first AND GO BACK TO STOCK KERNEL?
You don't need to go back to stock. The unlock won't do a thing with the rom.
3) Do I need to be on stock ROM to unlock my boorloader?
I could only unlock my bootloader from stock 2.1 (tried under GingerDX), but from stock it was easy.
4) What is the best kernel and ROM combination for you? - PLEASE ANSWER THE POLL ABOVE.
For me it's FroyoPro 2.3 ans Alfs
5) Can I Sim Unlock my phone later after unlocking the bootloader?
Can't say... mine was simfree out of the box. (If your phone is not simfree be aware! not all can be unlocked and could cause hard brick)
6) How do I return back to stock kernel?
Just flash back stock kernel file.
7) If I go back to stock ROM will my bootloader be locked again?
No, the bootloader cannot be locked again.
8) If my phone gets accidentally bricked during bootloader unlock process, can I unbrick it?[/B]
At home it is really unlikeley. There are special cables that can do the trick, but they need an expertised technician and a lot of money (for the cable)
Hope it helped for you
My phone is a 11W23 white one with cypress and is unlocked. For You what is the best? What You want? Speed, stability, low battery drainage, cool 3D games etc... For me it was little battery use and high speed with a tad of cool UI.. for this FroyoPro 2.3 and Alfs (Alfs is not needed for froyo pro! so no need to unlock only for that)
Ok thanks guys for answering all my questions about unlocking bootloader. All my doubts are clear

Help.. Locked bootloader but...

Hello guys,
Well... I guess I got one of the dumbest operator rom ever made for XZ (guess it's the same as Vodafone's one), so I wanna root it to get a recovery and then flash any kind of others roms but it's still weird..
By typing *#*#7378423#*#* => Service Info => Configuration ; I was (and I'm still) on the "Rooting Status : Bootloader unlock allowed : No"
So, I do Install the ADB Drivers from this Thread
Then I try the Binary's script, but still no reaction on the 2nd step (yeah I do launch it as administrator), and then I use the DoomLord'd recovery for locked bootloader
So now, I got the CWM 6.0.2.8 recovery on my phone, but I still got the "Rooting Status : Bootloader unlock allowed : No"
Well... I just dunno where I am... Do I am rooted ? Can I flash a custom rom ?
Help

Frnd, Make ur basics clear.. Rooting different from installing custom roms. To install a custom rom u need to unlock the bootloader first. But to root your device, you dont need the same.. Please search the forum once again.. u'll get the answer

I do check what I can since weeks now, and wait till safer way get released (seems cool now ?..)
So I do try the "official" way from sony to unlock the bootloader who just tell me "lol Bootloader unlock allowed : No"
Then.. I would like to unlock the bootloader yeah...
What do I mean to learn ? for now : locked bootloader will stay locked... (I'm still in that feelin that nothin is impossible)
So yeah I search on the forum to "make my basics clear" ; here we go => Usefull forum search
So, what I meant to learn now => I just can be rooted for now, but the Bin4ry's script don't work for me and I still dunno why
But... I success to get the CWM recovery on my phone through DoomLord'd recovery for locked bootloader
Questions was :
Can i flash a custom rom through CWM ? y/n ?
Usually on my previous phones (HTC Leo, HTC Desire, Samsung G2, Samsung Galaxy Nexus) as soon I can get the CWM on my phone mean that I'm rooted, so ?....
You can flash roms that are for locked bootloaders, they are usually indicated by [LB] in the dev threads. The bootloader unlock allowed status for your device will remain no, root does not magically allow you to unlock your bootloader.

[Q] Rooting issues - 4.3, IMEI, not actually rooted etc....

Hi All
So firstly I should say I only have myself to blame. I'm quite a techy guy so I just assumed i'd be able to root my phone without any issues and pick it up as I go. What i've quickly found out is i'm in way over my head and i'm an absolute noob!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated from those guys out there that actually know what they are doing. I have read many forums but i'm still lost.
My story is as follows:
- I have a Z1 that was locked on stock firmware 4.4
- I read that it would be a good idea to unlock the bootloader so i did this
- I wanted to root my phone but from what I read I could see I would have to downgrade the firmware to 4.2. So this is what i did.
- By doing this I lost my IMEI number, got very worried i'd ruined my phone. I tried many things to restore it, there were a variety of different solutions online, none of them worked. I eventually flashed a 4.3 firmware i found on this forum which restored my IMEI.
- I then read through a few posts of people who had similar issues and advice was given to downgrade again (if i wanted to root) but this time exclude the baseband etc. I did this, but lost my IMEI again! the advice didn't work
- So I then went and updgraded again! to 4.3 to restore my IMEI and network access
- There doesn't seem to be a way to root on 4.3 so my phone isn't rooted, that's ok. But when i try to use my banking apps they don't work! they say my phone is rooted even though it isn't! I have checked with root checker
- Like an idiot, i didn't back up the phone when i first started doing all of this, i didn't really know what i was doing so I am now in a situation where i have the worst of both worlds. They are, i can either 1. downgrade the firmware to 4.2, root my phone but not have a valid IMEI and network access or 2. stay on 4.3, have a valid IMEI and not be rooted but certain apps think i'm rooted so i can't use them.
So all in all i've just messed things up and i'm in way over my head. I would really appreciate some advice
Thanks
Yes you are right.
Also, there is no issue with losing IMEI when downgrading, it happens to everyone, but it comes back when you upgrade.
Also, if you unlock the bootloader there is no need to downgrade, that is a locked bootloader method of rooting
You should root before unlocking the bootloader in order to backup the TA partition, but you are too late now...
Solution
1) Use flashtool to relock the bootloader
2) Use pccompanion to update to latest firmware
3) Unlock the bootloader again with flashtool
4) Flash a custom kernel for stock based ROMs
5) Install SuperSU from the play store.
DONE!

I don't think so, the unlocked bootloader method is very generic and there are hundreds (if not thousands) of guides and probably as many videos.

Hi Greg, can you give me a bit more advice please.
i'm just looking at the tutorial to relock by bootloader. It says "before u relock bootloader u have to be on pure stock kernel (flash only the kernel.sin using flashtool), else the device WILL NOT BOOT after relock"
The problem is i'm already flashed on to an FTF image that was on this site. From so by doing this am i going to brick my phone? i'm confused and i don't want to make things work so your advice would be apprecaited
thanks

[Q] Does MoKee ROM requires Unlock Bootloader?

I am not allowed to post on MoKee thread so I will post my question here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761807
I am not a newbie and have been following XDA for 6 different devices and more than 5 years. But I just didn't post enough.
I am currently on SONY Xperia ZR (C5502) 4.4.2 (rooted). I have been trying to flash MoKee 4.4x for the past few weeks but in vain. I bricked my device few time already by trying and have to revital it with all kind of tools (Flashtool, Sony Update Service, fastboot).
I guess now my question is - "Does MoKee ROM requires Unlock Bootloader?" In the last post of that thread, someone said that it MUST be Unlock Bootloader. Is that true? The only reason I care so much about this is because I screwed up my device every time I unlocked it.
I was using the "fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY" method.
I am currently using 10.5.A.0.230.
Your answer will be really appreciated.

I am currently using 10.5.A.0.230.
Your answer will be really appreciated.

Yes just like any other rom out there you will need an unlocked bootloader. The reason is because you have to flash a custom recovery such as CWM and to do that you need to unlock your bootloader. I recommend unlocking you bootloader using flashtool instead of the command. Because it is just easier. When I was trying to unlock my bootloader I experienced problems doing it the way with the cmd. And what problems does it give you after unlocking and how does it screw your device? Thanks!!
PS: Try flashing a custom recovery because maybe your bootloader is already unlocked.:good:

I have installed -=[XZDualRecovery]=- with locked bootloader, so I don't think the reason is about the flashing of the recovery, maybe is something related with kernel flashing. but I'm not sure.

maybe but I wasnt able to write the boot.img unless I unlocked my bootloader.
confirmed that it REQUIRES Unlock Bootloader to install MoKee

Thanks for the advise from gurinderhans
Yes, I have confirmed that it REQUIRES Unlock Bootloader to install MoKee.
I unlocked my bootloader with Flashtool this time, instead of commend line this time. That fixed the problem I used to have.
But I used the CWM comes with XZDualRecovery to install MoKee 4.4.4. It works out fine.

Good to know everything worked out fine.
Any custom rom requires boot loader unlock.

ok this might be a bit too many questions

hi all,
i have recently aquired Sony Xperie SP C5303, and i now i'm lost since i never had android phone. all i used was various emulators for PC and stuff...
but now there is many stuff to be noisy about. and probably this has been answered many times but please, do me a favor and pretty please answer again if possible.
1. Phone is SIM locked (i'm working on getting unlock code from provider, since i have right to do so, after contract expires..which has)..but is there any way to unlock phone before i get the code? i'm wondering how technitians in local services do that. they ask about 30€ for unlocking device, and i doubt they have acces to provider's unlock code.
2. I tried to flash phone with custom firmware (using flashtool) but it failed on me even though i used right firmware, and phone bricked. however i managed to recover phone with sony PC companion and it now works same as when i got it. Firmware 12. 1. A. 1. 205, android version 4.3. i have no idea why it failed on me during flash. can it be cause phone is no rooted, and have no root support? (whill connect to this on 3.) do i have to root phone before flashing? i would really like to have root access.
3. i was unable to do hard reset of phone with power + volume down button. or any other trick didn't work. i couldn't not enter android recovery options. i followed instruction on how to root my phone on
Code:
developersonymobile(dotcom)/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
. i entered
Code:
*#*#7378423#*#*
to check if my device is unlockable, it says boot loader unlock allowed : No. Does this mean i won't be able to have root acces on my phone? or i still have to learn difference between terms or what they mean.
also is that really true what they warn about that there is no turning back after i root phone and all. won't just hard reseting phone or repair device with all defaults troubh pc sofware bring back and vipe everything back? how will than service know if phone has been rooted ever?
thank you in advance for all your answers.
"Bootloader unlock allowed : No" <= this means you can't use UBL ROMs or custom kernels.
You can always root and use LBL ROMs though. There are plenty of LBL ROMs out there to try.
You can always un-root your phone. And you can always repair your phone's OS by flashing the Stock ROM via flashtool. Doing so would remove root access as well, no one would know you ever rooted.
Root using towelroot.
Get recoveries by Dssmex.
Then flash LBL ROMs, mods, ports etc. that you want.
and Be careful when you flash anything,
Read the threads, don't try to flash any UBL ROM as it may brick your device.
First thank you for helping.
UBL is unlocked boot loader right? and L is locked. sorry to doubt your last tip but i need to double check was it typo or...? you said don't flash UBL. isnt that supposed to say don't flash LBL. or i have totally got this wrong. maybe i don't know what what's LBL and UBL.
but just to be safe? where can i find stock ROM? i tried official site, they don't let me download firmware manualy. only trough sony PC companion automatic repiar. Which is ok too i guess. else i can download sony flash tool callsed emma, but i cannot get login info since they need about 7 days to approve my registration.
so my first step is to root my phone. ok i will do that. i might do it manualy, not trough application though.
what about sim lock? after i root phone, is there sim unlock command or what? and do i need code...how do you unlock your phone to be able to use other SIM.

Welcome.
And no, I did mean "Don't flash UBL ROMs"
UBL = Unlocked Bootloader
LBL = Locked Bootloader
The ROMs that are made for Unlocked Bootloaders are UBL ROMs.
Unlocked Bootloader users can use both LBL and UBL ROMs.
But since your device's Bootloader cannot be unlocked, you can only use LBL ROMs.
It's written in almost all ROM threads if it's a LBL or an UBL ROM. But if it isn't specified, then be sure it's UBL. (Like all 5.1 ROMs are for UBL)
Download stock ftf from here.
Use Flashtool v0.9.18.5
and I can't say about the last one as I don't use a carrier locked device.
Try and see what happens.
thank you again for reply. you've been very helpfull with all info.

that is exactly from where i got it the first time. also same flashtool version. after i tried to use that firmware, my phone bricked.
even though it's stock ROM, probably cause my phone had locked bootloader (i finally found article on what is bootloader and i got it now).
but after this, i have used sony software to recover my phone and it works again.
now important stuff. so my device's bootloader cannot be unlocked. does that 100% means that i'm stuck with locked bootloader and no way of getting it unlocked.
even on sony offical site there is process tutorial how to unlock bootloader, and it says "if you device isn't listed, than you cannot unlock bootloader".
but it IS listed and I AM able to get the unlock code for it. now i'm confused. can i still do the process showed?
another confusing thing is where i read about bootloader, it says that for to be able to root i need to flash custom ROM, and to do that i need to unlock bootloader.
but you have provided link for "towelroot" which was able to get my phone root acces. is it different from rooting my phone manualy after unlocking bootloader. how did it manage to root it anyway? and with towelroot it still has bootloader locked. actually it says "boot loader unlock allowed: NO!". now begs the question does that mean, not allowed, but i can be unobidient one and still unlock it without clearance, or does it mean .."you're stuck with locked bootloader. deal with it!. if you try to unlock bootloader your phone will brick"!.
i think after i get answer to this, than it would be my last question for this topic
also again, thank you for answering all previous questions...and this one, hopefully

Did you install the drivers properly (Flashmode, fastboot, viskan common) ?
You need to disable driver signature verification before installing drivers if you're on Win 8/8.1/probably 10 too.
And flashtool should work perfectly in both LBL and UBL phones.
You said your service menu says, "Bootloader unlock allowed : No"
Even if you get a BL unlock code you can't unlock it coz it's not allowed.
And by messing with the bootloader or trying to flash UBL ROMs may permanently brick your phone.
And different phones have different rooting processses. Rooting our SP is easier than most other phones by TowelRoot.
And "Bootloader unlock allowed : No" is more like a "You're stuck with locked bootloader. deal with it!. If you try to unlock bootloader your phone will brick!".
And you can still use a lot of LBL ROMs, from 4.3 to 5.0. So don't worry Lol.
Welcome
i did install fastboot and drivers and everything acording to tutorial. i payed attention on par "pay attention to this. be sure to install drivers correctly, lol"
i'm using win 7 64bit sp1. i have disabled UAC. i'm alaways running as admin. as for flashtool. software works perfectly..it just fail flashing.
it goes to part where i need to unplug phone and plug in holding volume something button..it says on poppup. than i plug in phone and it starts flasshing..it goes up to 40% something percent. if finish few files but when it comes to system.(something) i forgot extension, it says failed. flasshing stopped. than after that i can't turn on phone again.
i couldn't untill i recovered via Sony PC companion. i did try to flash it several times with several roms. i think it's cause my provider messed with bootloader. they locked it together with sim. on official sony site. it says:
"Note! Even if your device is listed here, certain releases of the device model may not be supported due to operator restrictions. Please select your device on the Start tab to check if your particular device can be unlocked."
anyway, i even got my provider's firmware trough flashtool download system, got my provider's name and exact same firmware that was installed. it still failed on same file.
than after i recovered i didn't try to flash anymore. i don't even know what's the point, if i can have root access without it.
i'm not so keen on installing other android version, unless this one gives me problem. for that i need to unlcok phone first to be able to even use it or test it so far it's has been t urned off most of the time

I see.. I'm not actually sure why Flashtool isn't working.
Anyways some good 4.4.4 LBL ROMs are 'CM11 by Bagyusz', 'Omni-X by NeildownX', PA etc.
Try them if you want.

I assume you're now on a rooted stock ROM.
Follow this to get recoveries.
Reboot, when you see the Blue LED burn, press vol down to enter TWRP recovery.
can i use cm-11-20150822-UNOFFICIAL with flashtool so i avoid installing recoveris or CWMP?
flashtool worked for me it just gave me an error during flashing one of the files....that might be cause i didn't know difference between LBL roms and UBL roms. maybe problem was incorrect rom type for my phone.
i tried to install recovery tools. and i had some problems...when i swhitched on phone there was no light showdown,,just red led...and after phone entered safe mode. but not in recovery menu.
i sure have no idea what to do...now everything is so strange.
to be honest i'm considering dropping this whole thig of and use stock rom as it is...
it would be cool if there would be automatic debloat application which will remove all bloatware...
or at least bloatware list of apps i can delete manually, without loosing important function on my phone. than i would not need custom rom!

If you're on CM11 by Bagyusz, Open Terminal Emulator and enter the following codes,
su
./system/bin/recovery.sh
^ it will give you access to recovery when you see the red LED while booting.
If you decide to go back to stock, you can freeze/remove these apps.
I made the list when I was on stock. Take a backup before removing them just to be safe.
thank you a lot! this has all been so helpful!
