[Q] Hong Kong got new update V20E !!! - LG Optimus 2x

Any Body has update to V20E in Hong Kong ? anything change ?

I found the previous V20D was quite buggy, quite a few unexplained issues during normal use. I flashed CM7 and happy with it, not interest on stock rom anymore.

I don't want to give up stock rom coz want to know can update to ICS in one day
( Fairy Tail only )

me2, I've updated to 20e, it seems to be a little bit better than 20d.

The Update was disable !!!

You don't have to worry about that, you can flash back to stock rom at anytime. I did it few times without any problem.
The thread below described how to a flash stock rom file (.kdz):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327929
It's recommended to download your current kdz rom file from LG web site:
1. open a browser and type this in address bar: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=XXX...XXX
replace XXX...XXX with IMEI number of your phone;
2. it will return a long string contained a URL of a kdz file ('http://csmg.lgmobile.com.....kdz')
3. copy that URL and download that kdz file to your HDD.
i.e. URL for V20D: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP990/AHKGBK/V20d_00/V20D_00.kdz;
In my case, I was using other custom rom before, when LG release GB I flashed my phone back to V10F followed the method above, and then used LG tools on-line upgraded to V20D.

Hi Eric and hkkp,
My experience is CM7 give me a smoother experience and better battery life:
http://bbs.hiapk.com/thread-2931011-1-1.html
However, you need to update the latest CM7 kernel in order to fix the "sleep death" problem:
http://www.4shared.com/folder/9Y9RYzQA/_online.html
Advantage of stock rom is better screen and photo quality.
Someone have modified and improve the stock rom, I have tried and it is better than the stock one. If you really care about the camera and video quality more than smoothness and performance, you should use this:
http://www.angeeks.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1848884&extra=page%3D1%26filter%3Dtypeid%26typeid%3D14%26typeid%3D14
I am look forward to the ICS. CM9 will come up very soon. It will release before the formal LG one.

Our india got same v20e at same nearby date of hong kong.
Its somewhat better and had heridetry proxy settings in wifi. I dint use it long but it was less battery eater. May be it was optimized for asian sim providers.
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk

switched to MIUI rom now, it has a bit more functions which is useful for me. MIUI + ironKernel + Go Launcher, sounds like a perfect combination.
I believe when LG release ICS, there must be CM9 and/or some other better custom rom out there. I won't go back to stock rom unless I need to bring my phone back to LG repairing centre.

yes ur right thats exactly what needs to be done it also worked for me
Didn't work for me. Now on Cherry Magnum HD Update 3. Smooth and very responsive. Everything works!
Stay off from CSL Spice 2.3.4 FB0-318D-0-5012-A03
I own a spice Mi-410. The A03 update seems to have greatly improved battery life (just over 3 days with limited calls, occasional fruit ninja, and data always on in 2G mode)
I started suffering from wake up lag issues on the official spice Gingerbread update FB0-318D-0-5012-A03 all of a sudden. An additional problem is that bluetooth support is very limited to receiving files on the stock Spice GB rom.
Since I had a good experience with the stock Cherry Magnum GB ROM A01 version (except for the lower battery life), I tried the more recent version (update 3) which is also an A03 release. I feel this is the best stock GB ROM currently for the Spice Mi-410. Of course removing some unnecessary bloatware also helps. For example I really do not see the need for nero sync. Also restored back the splash image and bootup animation/sounds from the Spice ROM. Having no issues for the last few weeks.

IIRC I used SUT to flash that ROM
Sorry for the confusing statements. The A03 update is pretty good, but I had three issues with it.
1. Limited bluetooth support (try sending files from your phone with bluetooth). Have to use a third party app to deal with this problem.
2. GPS is quite poor. Takes a long time to get a lock.
3. Camera color balance does not work well.
4. Missing Android Gingerbread keyboard. In my opinion touchpal keyboard though better than the Froyo keyboard is not as good as the GB keyboard.
The A01 update which I tried caused issues with the wakeup lag but atleast had a working GPS and proper color balance.
For the reasons listed above I prefer the Cherry MagnumHD FB0-318D-0-5019-A03 ROM to the Spice FB0-318D-0-5012-A03 ROM.

Not sure what you mean by weak GPS signal and touch screen axis inversion. I get a GPS lock (outdoors) within 30s most of the time and within 60s all the time, with AGPS.

yeah, with A-GPS it sure is very fast... it is supposed to
I was talking about the vanilla offline GPS, slow & painful as hell 99% of the time
The vanilla offline GPS can take as much as 10-15minutes before it gets a GPS lock and this I mean outdoors. This is especially true if the GPS is offline for sometime as it has to download the ephemeris data again. For more information you can read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_signals.
Since Ideos X6 variants all use the Quacomm Snapdragon 8255 SoC there should be no difference in the performance of the system compared to say the HTC Desire HD or Desire-S. Any issues (and I have not found any GPS issues with the Desire-S which I tested for two weeks and neither found any with the Spice Mi-410) is likely to be firmware related. I did have GPS issues with the Spice Mi-410 GB A03 firmware which was very stable otherwise.
So likely a firmware issue.
You can also try the GPS Test app from the android market https://market.android.com/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&hl=en

MI410 Cancer with CHerry A03
Hi,
I have upgraded to Cherry Magnum HD A01, and it was all fine.
Upgraded to A03 (update 3), Battery Life has increased, and Touch felt as good, all was great till last week. Thats when issues started.
Problems:
1) Very slow response on trying to unlock screen
2) Very slow performance
3) Lag in ringtone (As if there are scratches while running a CD)
4) Call answers after 5 seconds
5) ....... Overall runs as if its struggling to survive with Cancer.
I Tried:
1) Cleared Cache (Helped for an hour)
2) Factory Rest (Helped for a day)
3) Reinstalled Firmware Removed Google Account running with new Google Account (Helping so far, aint sure when it start stuggling with Cancer again)
4)Tried to flash with Spice CSL A03 (dint work)
Any help in this regards will help many ambitious impatient users of MI410 like me who rushed to flash by re branding.

[Q] newbie again

Hi all
I am just getting a head of myself here but I am wondering if I can learn before I start flashing my LG O2X.
I am in Australia and I am wondering which firmware (full stock) is most preferred at the moment?
I read in the firmware sections and it seems as if the not all stock firmware are very stable (Some people are complaining that it sucks out of the juice badly).
so any suggestions (links will help heaps) is much appreciated.
any link to good tutorial to flash the firmware is also greatly appreciated.
Thanks
sorry for the newbie questions

Cheers guys!
I am still confused with all this term of base band and firmware used for LG o2x.
On my Samsung if i want to update my stock firmware i just need to go to samfirware download the latest one . Open ODIN as the flashing application, put the downloaded firmware package and press start.
Is this the same process in LG?
Do i need to root first? Where can I download the latest firmware package for LG?
Thanks again guys

Hello!
This depends...
If you only want the latest firmware provided by LG - just use the LG Update tool, follow its instructions and click start - wait a few minutes and voila.
Only working with an unbranded phone of course - in case of a branded phone you might have to wait for the OTA from your provider.
But you might have to wait at least another 6 Month for the next update from LG - last Update by LG(in Nov.) was to Android 2.3.4 and still has some bugs - ICS(Android 4.0) is in the making but...
If you want root, a custom rom(I would say CM7 is a lot better than stock rom - my opinion) with all the latest updates(i.e. Android 2.3.7 may be an ICS-build for X-mas ) and/or an OC/UV kernel it is a little more complicated.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
So... it sounds like the CM7 has won lots of hearts.
If I want to update mine (stock unbranded), which tutorial should I use?
since I am completely new to LG, any step by step (from the beginning) tutorial will help greatly.
I am after total stability and good battery - I am only using camera/video recording, playing videos, musics, skype/fring/viber and also some small games like angry birds etc.. good GPS lock is a bonus.
So any recommendation is greatly appreciated
Thank you

Frist things First - backup all you date before you start because the phone RAM/ROM will be wiped!
If your phone comes with Froyo (Android 2.2.2) you could go right ahead and start after the ***-line
...if your phone comes already with GB (Android 2.3.4 – look under setting on the about page!) you need to smartflash a CM7-compatible baseband (i.e. 0725 for Froyo or 0823 as I use it).
Guide to flash baseband – only needed if your phone some with GB(Android 2.3.4)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070
A German guide with downloadlinks…
http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/lg_op...-lg_optimus_speed_p990_aktuelle_baseband.html
If you try the newest baseband on this page (0823 – 23.08.11) you must flash all 4 files in descending order of filesize – the others are single files which are easier to use.
***************************************************************************
The easiest way would be to root the phone with SuperOneClick.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/superoneclick-updated-to-2-2-now-features-zergrush-exploit/
…and then use Clockworkmod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745) or Rom Manager to flash the latest KANG, since there aren’t any up to date Nightly’s because the CM7-build bot server is broken.
A Guide is in the Wiki pages for the LG P990…
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/LG_Optimus_2X:_Full_Update_Guide#Method_via_ROM_Manager
You could use either one of these KANGs…
Rusty:
http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/gigglebread/p990/
temasek:
http://www.mediafire.com/temasek
koboltzz:
http://www.4shared.com/folder/9Y9RYzQA/_online.html
Don’t forget to flash the latest gapps for GB 2.3.7 (right now AFAIK version from14th Dez.)– you can find them on temaseks-mediafire account.
Just place KANG-Files and Gapps on your SD card before you enter boot recovery.
At the end you need GetRIL or LG RIL versions from the market to update you RIL because the preinstalled baseband of you new phone is almost probably 0725 and CM7 comes always with 0218 – just download GET RIL and hit the install button…
Now you should be good to go.
If you are even more adventurers you could look into the ironkrnL for more performance/powersaving – see my sig. and/or look in the ironkrnL-Thread at xda and flash an ironkrnL after the gapps.

So “only” about everything one could do with a Smartphone…
Latest ironkrnL-builds with 00 or 32 ramhack should do it(stability and good battery) - but you might need to set the ring delay between 3000-4000 in the build.prop found in /system (you need a root-capable filemanager/editor i.e. ES Datei Explorer (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop or Rom Tool from the market). I had a problem with the preset delay of 225.
Hope that helped...

Baseband Requests optimus 2x p990 Gingerbread

Hi,
I am from India and a newbie to Android world.
I have a LG stock ROM(optimus 2x p990 Gingerbread). The factory version of the ROM is LGP990AT-00-V20e-ESA-XXX-OCT-28-2011.
The baseband is 1035.21_20110725
After taking a backup of image of Stock ROM with CWM,I have installed Gueste 2x v3.6 Hybrid Revolution, with symbiosis kernel.I have found it to be stable with good GUI
I have observed a heavy battery drain, with RIL v10d(Europe)
I am planning to flash 218 baseband as suggested by stefan.
But before doing so, I want to clear my doubts and have few requests
1) what are the best settings for a good battery life? I am switching to 2g networks when not surfing/downloading.
I am also using lots of apps, for my kid, who uses my mobile for a hour or so.
2)In case I need to go to Stock LG ROM, where can I get the original baseband, as I do not find it it anywhere, so as to to restore the CWM backup.
3) Stefan- Your ROM is wonderful. I have got few requests. Can you please port the stock LG Messaging app, Contacts app & "Backup & Restore" app .
Thanks
I am also from India.
I am using 0725 Baseband with v20d(Asia) RIL.
I dont have any battery problems whatsoever on this baseband and RIL combo. I get a straight 1 and half day on moderate usage (Few call and texting, 2g browsing for an hour or so, some music listening)
Battery drain wont be always due to baseband. It may also depend on some of the Apps you use which run in background.
Check the battery usage from the settings and see which program is using most of your battery.
Press "THANKS" if this helped.
Use the search function instead of starting a new thread. Please close this one.
Thanks Shane582.
I am sure that the battery drain was due to wrong bb (725) and RIL(v10d Europe).
As I am unable to get the LGP990AT-00-V20e-ESA-XXX-OCT-28 version of KDZ, I had posted the mail here, hoping that some one may help me.
Anyway this is not required now.
Also since this was my first post, I couldn't thank Stefan for his superb ROM( Gueste 2x v3.6 Hybrid Revolution )
found at the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1464986
Also I do a search properly, hoping to find a solution. Hence till date for the past one month, I was able to flash CWM, 5 different ROMs and come to a satisfactory solution for the issues faced.
Excepting for some rookies, I found the forum quite helpful, for sorting out all kinds of problems
Thanks everyone.

[ROMS]ICS FULL STOCK V30A & V30B with root, Busybox, init.d - CWM installation

FULL STOCK LG ICS roms V30A & V30B
This is for people that want stock experience with the possibility of root, busybox and init.d support, but don't want the blingbling or tweaks from a custom rom.
These are full stock roms, meaning it is still odexed.
Modifications are help tools and have no effect on the stability and performance compared to a OTA updated.

INSTALLATION
ICS unlocked bootloader required with ICS partition layout.
Custom recovery for ICS.
Full wipe if coming from a different rom.
Install with custom recovery.
It is best to use the V30.. baseband for this.
V30B and V30A are different, first thing I did this morning was check them again.
V30A got more code then V30B , this is probably because V30A needs to support a wider region with more providers.
The strange thing to me is that LG gave it the same Baseband number 1035.21_20121130.
So it is possible that depending on the region you live in V30B or V30A is better.
To be very clear the ril of V30A and V30B are 100% the same so it can't be that if you get better connection
Note:
These are full stock LG ICS roms with the following modifications.
-Root
(SU 3.1.3)
-BusyBox 1.20.2
(Busybox is installed as primary and not default toolbox)
-Init.d support (Ramdisk modded for this)
For people that want to use scripts, like V6Supercharger or any other that needs init.d.
Folder is already present in "system/etc"
-Data mounted in EXT4 like the rest of the system.
(Ramdisk modded for this)

-Side info , these roms are fully based on the stock KDZ files that I extracted and pulled the full system from it and turned it into a cwm flashable package.
I used spyrosk Toolkit for it and kitchen with .img extraction tool. This way I got a clean boot.img and system dump .img that I then turned into a system build folder.
The same way I build my custom roms

Both 30A and 30B are distributed multilanguage even each of them has a different region distribution.
Thai language is already included in 30B, the same of Italian used by me.
Civato, maybe you should explain in your first post that region does not mean multilanguage options.

I already have problem with allinonetoolkit, I know how to do it but I should upgrade baseband and also i should change partitions from old to new layout and after all I will use cwm to install this rom.
However I confused that which one should be first? Upgrade baseband or change partition.

How stable is this, my missus has the 2x and is constantly having problems she's been telling me today that she's already had to do a battery pull 4 times today because the instability.
All I need is a rom that's solid and stable and just works I don't care about fancy tweaks and speed just save me some ear ache Is this the rom to try?

This is full stock with no tweaks , only help tools like full root , init.d and busybox. These things have no effect on stability.
If you got problems with this you got a problem with your phone.
I've not flashed this rom I've used others and others have not been stable hence why I was asking how stable this one actually is, is the stock good enough to be used as a daily driver? After all LG have not been known for their bug free stock roms in the past I mean no offence to the quality of your work just wondering how good LG's latest version is.

I've been using this on my partners phone for a while and I keep getting a very weird issue I've not seen on any other phone. Randomly when I wake the phone up the screen is flipped and the colours seams to be like a negative. If I press power to blank the screen the power again its all fine.

Fast and stable stock firmwares for GT-i9000

Hi guys!I read this forum for a very long time but I really, really can't find exactly what I need.
So I got my first Android phone and it's Samsung Galaxy S-i9000.Now I really know more about android phones and RAM and CPU for Android phones. However, now I think the better choise is Galaxy S 2 because of 1 GB RAM,it's faster and it has flash for camera(But I don't really need flash ).
The problem is RAM and I really like games like Subway Surfers,Temple Run,Ski Challenge,Real Racing.
I own Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 2 months and when i bought phone, firmware was Gingerbread 2.3.3.It was smooth and fast, but I had a battery drain problem. After charging and playing games,Android OS was draining my battery,so I had to reboot my phone after every charging and playing game.I searched a solution and i found that draining battery is bug of firmware 2.3.3.So I updated it via Kies to 2.3.4 XXJVQ and draining was still there but less than with 2.3.3.I didn't know what to do,so I searched forums and found that I should update to original Gingerbread 2.3.6 JVU.I bricked my phone, because Odin stuck at setup connection. There was just image of phone-!-computer when I booted.I was able to go to download mode and I immediately took my phone to repair service.Repairman installed to me 2.3.6 JVU and it is bit slower, slower for some games.I am sad.I don't know what to do.It is only 320 MB available.
-What should I do?
-I think I should take my phone to repairman and say him to install new firmware but I don't know which firmware. Can you tell me please?I want fast firmware without bugs and battery drain and I really want to play games like Subway Surfers and Temple run without lags like I used to play wit Gingerbread 2.3.3 and 2.3.4.
-Is there simple solution to change firmware?
-Why did I bricked phone last time when I tryed to update it.Is it because I maybe don't have USB 2.0 port.
Please reply.
P.S. I don't really like Custom ROMS because I think they are slow and unsafe.
Sorry for bad English

You should better use USB 2.0 to update the firmware, Samsung USB driver must be installed and Kies process killed by the Task Manager (it loves to work in the background and can block flashing via Odin)
BTW, if you have used incompatible Odin version for your i9000 that also could be a reason for soft brick.
I fail to understand your point, as custom ROMs are actually faster and less laggy (especially when BigMem enabled: 407MB of RAM)
But for gaming is probably recent GB firmware a better choice. So all after JVT are fine, maybe JW7 would be best for you, it was released for Portugal and you can download it from sammobile.com
If not sure about something, check my i9000 guide

I am sure that I closed all Kies proccesses, and I used Odin 1.85 which is compatible with my phone,so I think the problem is USB port. That computer was old.Do you think it is because of old computer?
Wait,it is based on Android 4.x and my phone has to be rooted.I realy don't want to root my phone, and this Gingerbread JVU 2.3.6 (currently on my phone) is value pack too and it is slow.Very less RAM available. Is it about Kernel maybe. My kernel is [email protected] #2. Can I change and how?My phone is not rooted. Thanks!

I don't understand why wouldn't you root the phone....
Root would give you so much more options. Stock ROMs are full of bloatware that slowes the phone incredibly down.
With root access to your firmware you could uninstall all useless Samsung apps and it would boost the speed of your i9000.
Flashing a Semaphore_2.5.0bm.tar kernel would grant you full root access, CWM recovery and you could enable 409MB of memory on your phone, what isn't imaginable now (on costs of 720p video playback that wouldn't be possible anymore)

Because I want to took phone to service and tell them to install me new rom, beacuse I'm scared after first brick. And I think they won't root my phone and install custom roms. That's the reason I want Official Stock Firmware for GT-i9000 which is fast for games.I just want to tell them which firmware I want. And I am so confused about kernels.I don't even know should my phone be rooted to change kernel...
So,please if you know some fast Official Stock Firmware without bugs and lag, tell me. :highfive:

OK, I understand.
So, the latest one is JW9, not many people know it as it came very late and only for very few countries. But I remember people were saying it was awsome. Try Portugal one and if CSC works in your country stick with it (screenshot attached)
If no, this one will ceirtanly work (as it has multi-CSC) is this JW4 release:
Code:
United Kingdom / Ireland: 2012 April GB 2.3.6 I9000XXJW4 csc: I9000OXAJW5
I know that one, quite smooth, not very fast (compared to JB or KK roms) but stable and with excellent battery life. Best you can do is to download both, check that the zips aren't corrupted (download error) and give them both into your service and tell the guys to try first if JW9 works in your country. It should, actually.
Good luck and let know later if you like them

Allright,I think I'm will download just JW4.I googled, but there are many opinions.
Have you tried it yet?Tell me is it fast for games. That's most importan to me.
Also, people say it has 364 MB avaiable,BUT i'm little suspicious. Some peole say that 200-220 MB RAM is already unavailable when you turn on your phone. Is that true?I'm sorry if I'm boring but I really want to know all these answers before I took my phone to service.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

BTW, you know, I got so curious about the JW9 as I really didn't know it and I've just flashed JW9 today and: I must say I am bit shocked how good it is! It is far the best gingerbread I ever tried, incredibly fast and smooth., much better than the CM7.x (2.3.7)!!

No problem mate
Yes, it is all together 364 available as part of 500MB is fixed (reserved) for some system functions.... actually, with only 500MB capacity, the RAM of the i9000 is already around 60% full / used before you start any app or game.
Go for JW9, it is amazing! It is obviously better, faster and smoother than the JW4.
It will be no problem about signal I think, basebands in Europa are so similar.
I just showed it my wife and she wants that I install it for her instead of the CM11...... she prefers GB's layout and design..... Oh, yes: it just flies with SpeedMod kernel k-17-3.... but it is also very fast with its stock kernel

I changed my mind. Then,I will probably tell them to install JW9.I don't care does it include my language, but I just need english language. Is english avaiable in JW9.After 1-2 days using tell me,please,is that good firmware.I just wanna know some basics:
-Is battery good? (I gotta admit that battery on 2.3.6 JVU (now on my phone) is very good,no Android OS bugs, but performance is bad)
-How much RAM is avaiable and how much is unaviable when you turn on phone?
-Is Temple Run lag?
-Is that Value Pack? (I hate to lose RAM on that kind of firmware,I don't even like new features,I really don't care )
If I finally make my phone stable and fast, you're the best!

LOL, it is not about language pack, but Baseband / Radio- frequences for mobile networks that can vary in different regions of the world
Comparation: I know JVU well from before, IMHO, the JW9 is better in all terms. Faster, smoother, great.
It also looks much nicer, I've attached you few screenshots, I only couldn't make it fast enough to open the drawer before screen was printed (releasing of back+home button makes a shot, but also exits from laucher drawer)... it is my cat as wallpaper
My wife has liked so much the JW9 that she asked me to de-install her CM11 and flash JW9 on her i9000 today!
By no apps running, I had 42% RAM free, what is very good for the i9000
But you will also need some day root access, if nothing else just to uninstall Samsung's bloat apps that you'll never need and they slow your phone down. With root apps, one can hibernate many processes and

Don't worry about baseband. It will work with your country's network. The guys in service will take care of it.
I will check later about RAM, but it will probably be about the same like with JVU.
I know you need more memory, that is why I suggested you to flash a custom kernel, Semaphore enables up to 384,5 MB on stock GB roms and up to 409 MB with KK roms.

Hi,
I've checked the firmware for Portugal from sammobile.com and it is totally bloated with stuff for some portugese provider.
Here you have a clean- non-branded XWJW9 firmware for your i9000, best Gingerbread I ever tried:
I9000XWJW9_I9000OXAJW4_I9000XWJW1 download link
It has open Europe-CSC so it will ceirtanly work also in your country. If your language keyboard is missing, just install free app MultiLingual Keyboard
So, good luck and lots of fun- happy New Year with your new i9000

Can I flash either the Portugese or German XWJW9 firmware on my SGS? The one I'm currently on right now is the XXJW4 UK/IRELAND with multi-csc. Wifi signal is weak but when the phone is right beside the router, the wifi signal fluctuates.
I'm in the Philippines by the way. I'm a bit worried that the baseband and CSC for the XWJW9 won't work in my country.
Thanks.

Yes, JW9 will work. If the baseband isn't working, you can replace the modem later with any root file browser. Sometimes changing the region in the Wi-Fi settings can really help. You should try. Maybe no need for JW9.
