[HELP] I just installed new rom and TF3D looks very colourful [HELP]

i just installed new rom but my phone's image looks really weird and colourful (like negative images).
The following were the items i used.

format your sd card using fat32 (full format) (if you are a frequent flasher I suggest you get a small capacity sd card – 1Gb - and devote this only for flashing)
rename the RUU_signed.nbh to BLACIMG.nbh and pair this with ROMUpdateUtility -(application file). copy this two files in you formatted sd card.
then using Digital Outcast's USPL GUI: look here

Reason you are getting these colours is due to you not having correct SPL for whatever rom your using.
I suggest you read and follow this guide and post further queries within that thread. More information on your issue can be found here in the wiki.

Ok so i`m new to this , let me explain .
So i don`t really have that much knowlege when it comes to OS on mobiles .
I recently set the Android Gingerbread os on my topaz and i don`t really know how to work with it :
1. When i connect my phone via usb to my pc the storage card dosent show up but my pc still does that sound that i conected something .(this happens only when running android . When i`m running WinMo it works fine.)
What should i do ? i`m really a noob until somebody explains to me what to do .
2.I downloaded apps games bla bla onto my storage cards in the folder /apps
but it says that i dont have any files apps nothing .
3.When i put a song on my storage card i tried to add it to my ringtones but it dosent show up only in my music player . what should i do ?
4.Please help me understand what i have to do for my problems , cause i`m really confused and want to start learning a bit about how things work

First of all, it's better to go with Froyo for now. GB builds aren't quite as stable. Plus, depending on which build / ROM you used, some features might not work properly if at all.
1. AFAIK USB storage does not work yet. Get froyo or use WM
2. download, as in thru Market or just the APKs? APKs are like CABs in WM, you have to install to use
3. Again possibly problem with the build you're using
Go and get FRX06 from the Topaz Android dev section and try that out. Most things work with it (except maybe HW3D). If you're feeling adventurous, google CWM ROMs. Tiad8 made a CWM version of FRX06. Available on his site at tiad8.com

I will try froyo out now , i put gingerbread on cause i taught it was faster and optimized , thats one of the main reason i want android cause Winmo is very very laggy and i hate it .

Dude, no need to start a new thread for relatively the same issue.
Also, try to add more relevant info as in, which build you downloaded, from where, what steps you followed etc.. easier to fix that way..
Anyway, fresh start.
1. Go to this thread
2. Get the BUNDLE (first link) in post number 4
3. Unzip the file to a folder called andboot
4. copy the folder the root of your SD
5. Edit Startup.txt in the folder with the options you need, sleep mode, overclock etc (refer to same thread, post #2)
6. Run HaRET..
There's no reason why your XDAndroid wouldn't run now. Since the FRX06 bundle has just about everything for first timers. Give a try and update here if you need anything..

So you heard about the nook color. How it's a cheap e-reader that can be pushed to the limit and you are wondering how you can enable this power for yourself. Well you came to the right place!

1. Why you should NOT use Honeycomb
So you've heard about how the Nook Color can run Honeycomb and you are thinking that you want to try it. I mean why not? It's a tablet OS and the Nook is supposed to be turned into a tablet right? Well here's how it is. Honeycomb unlike other versions of Android is not an open source release. That means that developers cannot see how it works and have to reverse engineer basically the entire thing. This leaves you will something that barley runt because of countless missing drivers and many bugs from the SDK simulator. Honeycomb is a very painful and unstable experience. Do not use it. Wait for the next version of Android codename Ice Cream Sandwich to come out. For now use CM7. To check on the progress of CM9 (AKA ICS) check out this thread where you can find the first alpha builds.
2. SD or Internal install
The first decision you need to make is if you want to install CM7 (Android) over your current stock firmware or to run from an SD card.
a. SD Install
The benefit of running from an SD card is that you get to keep your Nook's current stock rom along side your Android install. The downside is that Android will run terribly if you do not use the correct SD card.
When running from an SD card use ONLY a SANDISK CLASS 2 or 4!

b. Internal Install
I recommend you do an internal install just because it is more stable and a lot easier to troubleshoot and upgrade to a newer CM version. If you ever need to return to stock it is very easy (see part 3).
To install to your internal memory follow this guide
Remember if you have a newer Nook that came with stock version 1.2 or above you may want to follow the repartitioning instructions here to have more space available to save files.
3. Restoring to Stock
So something happened and you need to return to stock. You need to make a warranty claim, register you device with BN, or whatever.
Here is what you need to do
When you are done you will have a complete stock Nook to do whatever you want with.

Starting with N64oid 2.0 and above the new .32 Nook kernel used in CM7 does not work with N64oid.

Overclock/undervolt is included in the CM7.1 kernel.
Overclocking is built in to the CM settings. To undervolt you need to use the Nook Tweaks app.

Link provided by koolkid was for 1.0.1 but I think it was the standard procedure for any other version.
I'm eager to learn a new, better way.

I just substitute the full 1.3 .zip for the CM7 and gaaps .zips when booting with the original install image and it works fine. I recommend everyone who installs CM7 to the eMMC save their original install SD card for future needs and buy a 2nd one for use with CM7. The 1.3 .zip now seems to be missing from the drop box site though so someone will need to repost it. It was linked in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690&page=29

I'm still very much a noob at this.
One suggestion for more info regarding an issue which many noobs like me may have: How to expand the partition to use the rest of the SD card. On my 16Gb card, it now has four partitions: Boot, 2x unallocated, and Storage. Using EASUS PartitionMaster, how do I expand the fourth partition ? Do I have to delete the two unallocated ? Any further info regarding this would be very much appreciated !!
If I use App2SD, which partition would those programs go to ? Seeing that I already booted from SD, the Apps are already on the SD, right ? No need to "move to SD" ?
Thanks ahead for the schooling !!

For your first question: just right click the 4th partition, select resize and then make sure everything is selected.
For your 2nd question: I'm not exactly sure as I do not use an SD install. Maybe someone else with more SD booting experience can help but what I am thinking is that all of your apps are on the 2nd or 3rd partition but when you use app2SD they get moved to the 4th partition.

Unfortunately you cannot use the 8 failed boot method if you replace the stock recovery which most do when installing CM. That is why I used the method I did with this guide. It works no matter what is on your internal memory.

I'm probably slow but your provided link is for rooting the 1.2/1.3 NC using ManualNooter. It has nothing to do with reverse back to stock ROM.
And, the complete wipe near the bottom of the first post, again, has nothing to do with reversing if currently running custom ROM on eMMC.

A mod should definitely sticky this...most helpful thread I've read in the general forum yet.

I just got a refurbished Nook Color and after hours of searching and reading I came across your post. This guide is a like a mother-load of good links and clear instructions. Thank you for taking the time to put it together. It has really helped me understand what was needed to get my NC up and running.

This is a really helpful guide for beginner.
I want to ask some thing about the whole workflow. I've used other Android phones to play with rooting and flashing new roms, but NC is quite new to me. So still need to make sure about something.
In this guide, there is nothing about rooting. And when I use CM7 from a SD card, I don't have to do that and already got the su in terminal. So I suppose if I just flash CM onto the eMMC, I'll get root access anyway. I don't have to root it right now in its stock system, right?

-Updated the Restoring to stock guide to use a 1.3 and the newest clockwork it's on Android Central for now but I might move it over here if I get some time.

Nope, no need to root if you are going to flash CM7 because of the ability to boot a custom recovery from an SD card.

Need help flashing to cm10 or cm10.1

curently have cm9 with twrp 2.2. How do I start over and load the new ROMS that are out. Any help would be appreciated. I don't care about he current apps and don't have files I need to save. Can someone point me in the right direction? thanks

ACMEUninstaller2 (uninstalls Android and removes recovery, All versions) That's what it says in Rolands thread .
Yes you do need to install something else.But the files and info are all in his thread.

[Q] Galaxy ACE S5830 needs the kiss of life. Help needed.

My Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830 needs the kiss of life, so as to return to the 21st century.
It has slow responses and quite often freezes and messes up with my nerves.
It currently runs on a 2.3.5 android version.
I want to root it, take a backup, increase ram by creating a partition in my new sd card and install a light custom rom (like MIUI). For this purpose, I just bought a very fast Kingston 32GB, class 10 U3, sd card with theoretical 90MBs read and 80MBs write speed. I think that will suffice.
I am a simple user and I need basic functions. My main issue is to get a faster response from the phone. I don’t play games and I am not a major fun of social media. I just want to want to use it mainly as a phone, for calls, messages, Viber, and some extra facilities like emailing, web browsing, watching some videos online (news and youtube), occasional photos, listen to music, and install a GPS program like Sygic.
I’ve already read a lot about the whole process, but as I’m doing it for the first time in my life I want to make sure that I got it right. And I have a few ambiguities.
Please advise or freely suggest if any better/easier method is available.
1. Rooting.
I decided to use Kingo Root. So, I need to download Kingo Root to my pc and connect the phone (having enabled USB debugging) and just press Root. Then check if rooting is successful with Root Checker. Then download and install SuperSU app. And I’m done.
Do I need to unlock my bootloader, too?
2. Backup.
a) Take an image of the existing ROM.
Download and install ROM Manager, flash ClockworkMod Recovery and update. Boot in to recovery by using ROM Manager or manually by pressing simultaneously UP+POWER+HOME buttons. Then go to Backup and Restore and take a backup image. Right?
b) Backup apps and messages.
I want to take just 2 backups here, my text messages and my Viber messages. Do I use Titanium or something else? My contacts are already synchronized with Google. If I use a MIUI stock rom do I need to take a backup of my contacts too?
3. Increase phone's RAM
I think now is the right time to increase the phone’s RAM. Do I need to partition it with CWM? Or I just use an app like Ram Expander? Do I do both? I mean firstly partition the sd to the desired size and then use Ram Expander? None of the above? What do you suggest? I have read some other possible solutions like using INT2EXT+ after partition. And when I download a new app how will the phone know where to store it, in phone’s RAM or in sd card?
The key factor is speed and efficiency.
I’ve also read that “Even though the Internal Storage would read 2GB (or whatever is your partition size), the apps would still use some amount of REAL INTERNAL Storage for data, hence you need at least 100MB REAL Internal Memory for every 500MB SD-EXT memory.” Is this true? And if so, since I believe the Galaxy ACE S5830 has about 150 MB RAM the most I can actually get is 750 MB RAM?
It is important to get as much RAM as possible because I’ve read that Sygic (the GPS Navigator app) needs to be installed in phone’s RAM to work properly and it is about 700MB.
4. Install Stock ROM
Finally, the time has come to install a new stock rom. I am thinking about MIUI 6. I like its interface and I’ve heard it is light and fast. Any better suggestions? Can I do it in my phone?
My problem here is this, is MIUI a fully functional stock rom, which means I just download it and flash it or is it a “port rom” which means I have to previously install some android 4.4.x base rom? I have read in some article that is needs a compatible android rom to lean on before installing. Is that so?
Here I am stuck, I can’t decide how to proceed and I need your help.

Hi there, long time galaxy ace user and MIUI lover here.
1. For rooting my device, I just flashed a zip in recovery mode. Can't find the link to that thread.
2. Yes, backup is very important right after rooting, especially for beginners.
As for sms backup, I recommend using SMS backup and Restore, which can be downloaded from the market. I haven't used viber, so I don't know which app would be the best for backing it up, but you can try Titanium backup. For contacts, you can sync them as long as you flash a g-apps package and sign in with the same google account. To be sure, you can try exporting your contacts to your sd card and import it later on (.vcf)
3. I did not even increase my phone's ram via swap, Even with a tiny ram, Miui on top of Cm7 is pretty fast and can handle any basic task such as browsing, youtube videos, music, calling, camera, camcording and messaging with minimal stutters. (I don't play games btw)
4. If you are a simple phone user just like me, who only need some calls, sms and browsing functionality, the best bet would be to use MIUI builds based on gingerbread (CM7). I found that MIUIv4 builds (ICS and JB) are poorly optimized for our device. Also, there are currently no MIUI v5 or v6 builds for armv6 devices.
My personal recommendation is: MIUIXXX http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908444 which comes with FireKernel OC.
I use Gabreek's Miui v5 theme, which you can find it on his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2280553 In my opinion, his v5 theme is the best, because of LOTS of app icons and the overall feel.
Also, be sure to flash a g-apps package for gingerbread after flashing the rom.
MIUI v4 snapseries build is too unresponsive for me, and missing some features like screen off animation. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879323
MIUI v4 JB by msnnsm is also good, but consumes lots of ram http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054460.
TL;DR: flash an miui gb rom. It is the best in terms of stability and speed.

It's completely fine to flash miuiXXX right away (B)
gabreek's is another MIUI rom, but bluetooth is not working in his v6 build. The theme file (mtz) is somewhere in the bottom of the post, below some useful tips and just above the credits part of his post

as far as i know, themer does not work.
Also, MIUI comes with its own theme engine, and you can download online, which is very nice.
Remember that when Applying themes, do not include lockscreen (uncheck lockscreen) . Lockscreens from the Theme app are meant for HDPI device, and you won't be able to unlock your phone if you apply them. If you accidentally get stuck on the lockscreen, press volume up and back button at the same time. It will unlock your phone.

So far, so good, I have not experienced any major problems.
2 more things to ask if you dont mind.
a. Where do I get the gapps file to flash from? Is is a specific file for our rom (MIUIXXX) or any gapps file will do?
b. Can I add an extra language, in the android keyboard or do I have to use an app for this? Or even better in the system itself. I am from Greece and I would find it very convenient in some tasks of the phone. I mean since it is essentially a MIUI rom and MIUI has the greek language in its official roms, there must be a way that this can be done.

I’ve already read a lot about the whole process, but as I’m doing it for the first time in my life I want to make sure that I got it right. And I have a few ambiguities.
Please advise or freely suggest if any better/easier method is available.
1. Rooting.
I decided to use Kingo Root. So, I need to download Kingo Root to my pc and connect the phone (having enabled USB debugging) and just press Root. Then check if rooting is successful with Root Checker. Then download and install SuperSU app. And I’m done.
Do I need to unlock my bootloader, too?
2. Backup.
a) Take an image of the existing ROM.
Download and install ROM Manager, flash ClockworkMod Recovery and update. Boot in to recovery by using ROM Manager or manually by pressing simultaneously UP+POWER+HOME buttons. Then go to Backup and Restore and take a backup image. Right?
b) Backup apps and messages.
I want to take just 2 backups here, my text messages and my Viber messages. Do I use Titanium or something else? My contacts are already synchronized with Google. If I use a MIUI stock rom do I need to take a backup of my contacts too?
3. Increase phone's RAM
I think now is the right time to increase the phone’s RAM. Do I need to partition it with CWM? Or I just use an app like Ram Expander? Do I do both? I mean firstly partition the sd to the desired size and then use Ram Expander? None of the above? What do you suggest? I have read some other possible solutions like using INT2EXT+ after partition. And when I download a new app how will the phone know where to store it, in phone’s RAM or in sd card?
The key factor is speed and efficiency.
I’ve also read that “Even though the Internal Storage would read 2GB (or whatever is your partition size), the apps would still use some amount of REAL INTERNAL Storage for data, hence you need at least 100MB REAL Internal Memory for every 500MB SD-EXT memory.” Is this true? And if so, since I believe the Galaxy ACE S5830 has about 150 MB RAM the most I can actually get is 750 MB RAM?
It is important to get as much RAM as possible because I’ve read that Sygic (the GPS Navigator app) needs to be installed in phone’s RAM to work properly and it is about 700MB.
4. Install Stock ROM
Finally, the time has come to install a new stock rom. I am thinking about MIUI 6. I like its interface and I’ve heard it is light and fast. Any better suggestions? Can I do it in my phone?
My problem here is this, is MIUI a fully functional stock rom, which means I just download it and flash it or is it a “port rom” which means I have to previously install some android 4.4.x base rom? I have read in some article that is needs a compatible android rom to lean on before installing. Is that so?
Here I am stuck, I can’t decide how to proceed and I need your help.

To Root Your Device See The XDA's post.
Take The Backup of Current Rom Using CWM recovery or ROM Manager would do this too.
Then inorder to Increase Memory On Your Device By Partitining the SD Card.
Check My Guide over it in Galaxy Ace Development Section or General Android Dev Section.

Try always to have on your sdcard a backup or a ROM that works ok.
Probe this a few times to be sure you can return anytime to the previous step.
2.
Take a notepad and make a change log with steps you made, so you can return to the previous step if something is not working ok.
3.
Try first to understand what you want to do, to be sure that you will not commit an error.
Try to learn from the mistakes of others.
It will be much easier for you.
