I'm having trouble installing it... I place it there and reboot it doesn't show up. Should I mount the folder differently? Or should I rename to music2 and then c+p?

Introduction
Teamhacksung has been porting ICS (to be CM9) for the Galaxy S and Captivate we feel that it has reached a state where it would benefit from public testing. However this is still a very early versions and there will be bugs. Bug reports are allowed in this thread only. Please check the known issues section before reporting a bug. The most minor bugs are welcomed (we'd love to know them, but we may not fix them instantly).

Frequently Asked Questions
My calendar sync isn't working!
Install the latest build and gapps and wipe your data.
Can I mount the phone as mass storage via USB?
The default configuration is to transfer files via MTP from within android. The below command can be used to change into USB Mass Storage mode (starting from BUILD6). USB Mass Storage mode is always used in recovery.
Code:
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb
Please reboot after executing the command.
I can't adb into the phone!
The build currently uses Galaxy Nexus driver due to the MTP support. Please download the driver here: http://www.multiupload.com/BUCFT8M42N. In mass storage mode (or recovery), the Nexus S driver should be used.
Can I flash other modems?
You may flash modem packages designed for CM7.
Does 3G work? Do I need to install a script for it?
3G works out of the box without the need for any script hack. If it doesn't connect, please check if you have the correct APN.
How do I take a screenshot?
The screenshot taking function is built into ICS. Hold volume down + power.
Can I use CM7 kernels?
No, the kernel has modifications to make graphics, camera, data counter and data limit work.
Can I disable LED Notification?
Yes. Untick Settings -> Display -> Pulse notification light.
Maps keeps asking me to sign in even though I'm signed in!
Ignore the sign in dialog and pull down the notification menu. Answer the request for permission. Do this a few times and Maps will work.
How do I enter Captivate Settings (Device Settings)?
Type "am start com.cyanogenmod.AriesParts/.AriesParts" from adb. Or starting from BUILD 7, it is available as an icon in your launcher.
How do I enter service mode?
Type "*#*#197328640#*#*" into the dialer.
What's working? Why is there only a list of issues?
Everything else not listed are supposed to be working (aside from the usual CM7 bugs). If they're not listed, please post so that they can be added to the list of issues. A list of issues is far more useful from a development standpoint.
Why am I getting notified that my data partition is getting full when I have 1+ GB free?
Your /datadata partition, a smaller partition, is getting full.
Also, there is an additional FAQ by XDA forum user everest.deth that might be useful if your question isn't answered above.
Thanks

MIDNOTE2.x SECTION
Ladies (uh, where?) and Gentlemen (uh, HOW many!!), please forget all the "2.0" rules of installation, this is a FULL WIPE version and starting base MUST BE GINGERBREAD WITH FULL ROOT.
LET'S START.....FIRST, OUR FRIEND "ashwin123" GREAT VIDEO "HOW TO INSTALL"(Thanks Bro).
The only file changed from 2.1 installation procedure, is "step 7" one, if you already have all the other files, no need to re-download..simply follow very carefully the installation instructions and download only "step 7" file....
1. Download and flash with cwm the modem : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCZTI5QXlUaUJTQXlOMHRDRktMWmU2dw (if you have already LB2 modem, go to step 2)
2. Download base rom : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCTFJxNVpMVDZSZDJLVG45YU1TR04zUQ
3. Download kernel : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCWTF2bUZtLXJSVFcwRVUwVUNIYndQZw
4. Do a nandroid backup of your actual situation (People actually on ICS rom, MIDNOTE2.0 included, must flash abyss3.9 kernel (https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCY2EyNGRhMTctODE2MC00MDU4LWE2MjgtYjRmM2RmMmEwM2Zh), reboot kernel and go back to Gingerbread, like said before, because (I repeat) STARTING BASE MUST BE GINGERBREAD WITH FULL ROOT
5. Open mobile Odin and select "open file", then select "step 2" tar file. Now select "kernel", then select "step 3" tar file, verify that ALL (enable everoot, inject superuser, inject mobile Odin) are checked, then check also "wipe data and cache". Now press "flash firmware" and answer "yes" on md5 verify.....(Odin PC causes increase of the counter, and I'm not directly experienced a flash with it, so please, don't complain on the forum if you don't want to use mobile Odin)
6. After the flash, you will be in CWM recovery, do a reboot, then wait some minutes to build the caches, ONLY FIRST TIME you will see statusbar only. Now long press power button, then select "reboot" and WAIT TILL YOU WILL BE AGAIN IN FULL WORKING SYSTEM
7. You're not yet on MIDNOTE2.2, now you have to download the real customization zip from here : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCbnJDTFlJZ2xTUC01aVFnOTdYRmJYQQ and verify MD5 of zip file : 59dbd4c51b998a40c65791277d133e33. Is correct ? Go to "step 8". Not correct ? redownload the zip. This is a rapidshare mirror : https://rapidshare.com/files/2554117602/MIDNOTE2.2.zip (Thanks to "not-i")
8. VERY IMPORTANT STEP : VERIFY IF mobile Odin obtain correctly root permission, if all is OK, reboot in CWM recovery and flash "step 7" zip file, then reboot. DON'T DO ANY WIPE IN THIS STEP, SIMPLY REBOOT
9. Now you are in MIDNOTE2.2 WITH FULL GAPPS INCLUDED, please do nothing and reboot in CWM recovery (use CWM manager to do it, so you can check gains of root permissions)
10. Do a FULL WIPE DATA / FACTORY RESET, then wipe cache (NO Dalvik), then reboot
11. Wait for cache rebuild, then when prompted select "SETUPWIZARD", the second choice
12. Check time option to "auto", then CHECK BOTH GOOGLE LOCATIONS option to "ON" (keep attention to this step), DON'T ENTER YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT name and password in this step, finish your setup. Now select your preferred launcher.
13. Go to settings/keyboard and set samsung keyboard language option to "English/UK", and uncheck T9 prediction
14. Fast fix to FLASH PLAYER..: Use root explorer or similar app, go to system/app, click on "Adobe flash player" and select install, wait to finish. Now delete Adobe Flask apk from system\app. Flash will works fine..
15. (The last ). Open Market and install "Maps", set GPS "off", open Maps, answer "ignore" if wants to check positions settings, then LOCATE YOUR POSITION (wifi or 3G data must be ON)
VIDEO REVIEW FROM BEST XDA "VIDEO PRODUCER", "ashwin123".. :

- If you use "FaceLock", this is the last version with better recognition..: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24246367&postcount=1403
- If you use VPN, this is the fix (thanks to "opensys") : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCSUJxYkFrLW1SWHVtdEpDcjA2T2psdw

VERY IMPORTANT ADVISE : as usual, I don't want donations, but this morning I decided to devote MIDNOTE hard work to my parents ("B&G" are the initials of their names), both died of cancer, so.........if you want to give a donation, please follow this link : https://www.airc.it/aiutare-la-ricerca/donazione-online.asp
Like usual, it would be good for me, after installed the rom, to fill your data in the following ONLINE worksheet : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjRB5vMumafCdDlvQ3ZyQnRhMF9jWndVVXowamVvNFE THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR COLLABORATION..
MIDNOTE2.1 SECTION
Ladies (uh, where?) and Gentlemen (uh, HOW many!!), please forget all the "2.0" rules of installation, this is a FULL WIPE version and starting base MUST BE GINGERBREAD WITH FULL ROOT.
LET'S START.....a little longer procedure than usual, but (IMHO) worth it--
1. Download and flash with cwm the modem : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCZTI5QXlUaUJTQXlOMHRDRktMWmU2dw (if you have already LB2 modem, go to step 2)
2. Download base rom : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCTFJxNVpMVDZSZDJLVG45YU1TR04zUQ
3. Download kernel : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCWTF2bUZtLXJSVFcwRVUwVUNIYndQZw
4. Download gapps7.1 : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCMTY3OWE3NzgtMGMyMS00MWVjLWI3OTMtZDEwNDY1ZDFkY2Zl (don't complain if you use another gapps version and your calendar sync doesn't works)
5. Download MULTI-CSC : LINK REMOVED - it causes the loss of root permissions (use only for samsung keyboard "null null" issue)
9. You're not yet on MIDNOTE2.1, now you have to download the real customization zip from here : https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzRB5vMumafCTl9SUVBxQTFTaUtyUU8zQUZ4dmZFUQ VERY IMPORTANT STEP : VERIFY IF mobile Odin obtain correctly root permission
10. Reboot in CWM recovery, then flash gapps7.1 (step 4 zip file), reboot and configure your google account using chinese keyboard
11. Now verify MD5 of "step 9" zip file : b442d6e1f809ffad9ebf0475e2a93ed1. Only if correct, reboot again in CWM recovery and flash it
12. Now you are in MIDNOTE2.1 read below my recommendations :
- Use apex launcher (embedded in 2.1 rom), best ICS experience
- Use App Quarantine (in the app drawer), to easily freeze all the apps that you don't need (chinese or samsung), I preferred to leave the complete rom because there are many Chinese users that use MIDNOTE..
- Make a home shortcut to "quick settings", and use it to set "sound + vibrate", verify if it works correctly, then from now on you will not miss notifications..
- You will find "note everything", very nice app to makes all kind of notes
- Use "not call log" (in the app drawer) to fast switch to home after a call
- Use N7player for music (in the app drawer), best app and related widget (for my opinion)
- Use Sygic (free version in app drawer), best ICS compatible navigation program
- You can find also ICS Keyboard, try it, it's a very nice keyboard
- Freeze S-planner if you don't want to see doubled calendar events notifications
- You can use CWM recovery to flash zip files and do nandroid backups, BUT DON'T USE IT TO RESTORE ANY KIND OF BACKUPS (GB OR ICS), OR TO WIPE DATA, IT DOESN'T WORK and causes bootloop and lost of root permissions, so if you need to go back to GB, use redpill recovery from abyss3.9 kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22758543&postcount=6). If you need, you CAN restore (from redpill recovery of course) also ICS nandroid backup, but remember, after that, you will not be able to delete files from system directory
- and now.......THE CHANGELOG :
A. fixed random SOD of 2.0 (thanks to LB2 modem)
B. fixed random reboot, but the "tradeoff" is the return of "android apps optimization" every reboot
C. fixed all contacts app various problems
D. fixed lots of full root related problems, now you HAVE full full full root..
E. fixed Samsung keyboard, now it's fully working like GB one (only english language)
F. fixed stock video player with all kind of video formats
G. nice "Armani" fonts
H. fixed stock internet browser, no more "black on black" address bar (but you can find also ICSbrowser+ in app drawer)
I. native call recording using stock dialer
L. real ICS themed, with more readable icons and no "double arrows"
M. torch widget works fine with three steps
.
.
Z. still works in progress for "Google locations" and battery % in display settings, on my Note I have it perfectly working (see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24143667&postcount=1154), but this morning a member of an Italian forum warned me that not worked for him, so I decided to publish the ROM with the settings "unmodified". I need more testing time for it... (Thanks to "lukemo" of Telefonino.net forum for the advise)
VERY IMPORTANT ADVISE : as usual, I don't want donations, but this morning I decided to devote MIDNOTE2.1 hard work to my parents ("B&G" are the initials of their names), both died of cancer, so.........if you want to give a donation, please follow this link : https://www.airc.it/aiutare-la-ricerca/donazione-online.asp

Thankyou maxicet for your excellent work!!!
Installed it a few hours ago and so far all is working.
Fastest and solide ROM for daily use for me.
Only the theme is a bit low contrast, many of input boxes are barelly visible.
Please, disable WiFi if want to use GPS.
CoPilot crashes if WiFi is enabled.
For me the fastest ROM for now, only light bugs and i hope our great dev will eliminate it soon.
Contacts need a bit more work, the displayed name is wrong on call, thats only bug.
Thakyou for the "Italian quality" ROM its really the best now.
Great please can you write what doesn't works?

install from market the app
Massimo,
Theme looks great. Hope you are finding the ICS leak more useful than I am. I got your PM, but I'm really still just using GB and waiting for a new CM9 build.
Regarding your PNG issues, I would inspect the original apk and make sure the image pixel sizes of the themed replacement matches.

Svox tts
Is the svox problem fixed? Anyone tried ?
@all
managed to figure out whats wrong with dialer and contacts.
If the phonenumber of person calling you, is saved with international prefix, e.g. 0041xxx or +41xxx, in your contacts, than you see only the phonenumber from the caller but there is NO ASSOCIATION with your contacts. And on display you should see "HunagdeHuongGong" as caller name and his phonenumber, WITHOUT international prefix.
For Switzerland is international prefix 0041xxx or +41xxx.
For inlandcalls i use the 044xxx for Zürich region.
So i have a phonenumber like this 00 41 44 xxx saved in my contacts, the callerID displayed is only 044xxx and the phone dont find any contact with matching number to display the name.
Dont know how its for another country, but this causes the crash from dialer and contacts in Switzerland and Europe, with prefix 00xxx or + als leader.
I changed the phonenumbers of my contacts to only reginal prefix and the callerID works flawless, the callername is proper displayed on screen.
Hope any dev can fix this issue.
I think thats wrong because the leak is from China and there are different callerID and prefix managments.

After a new wipe and installation there is no correction. Also with USB connection my phone wasnt found by windows.
@ziko
Did you try the other ICS leak for Europe market? Was there no problem with contacts? Could you try if the problem exists with the contacts apk from european release? If you don't have it I can upload it.

Thanks for the translation!!
As you are using this rom can you tell me more about the bugs? Like what else is not working besides screen brightness?
And what does this mean "Not a working copy /paste "??
And last thing why this rom is not posted here on this forum? (maybe you can tell me!! )
The ROM is working perfectly and the only minor bug I have detected is is relation to the brightness and the volume. Both are ok, only is not working for increasing or decreasing, except if you put the fix.
Ref to the fix for the SD, I couldn't identify the problem
ELITE, the developer is preparing a new version, beta4r2, that include theses fixes
Ref to the "And what does this mean "Not a working copy /paste "??", ELITE talks about that this ROM is developed under the Nexus base IMM30B, it's not an evolution of any CM
Ref to the "And last thing why this rom is not posted here on this forum? (maybe you can tell me!! )". All his former developments have been issued only in the htcmania web. ELITE doesn't look too much interested in translating to english the explanations. However after 15 months of flashing roms, for me this is the best ROM I have never settled down in my SGS, and I consider that everybody must know it, enjoy it and contribute to make it even better.
Two messages more and I'll be authorize to talk about this development in the correct forum.
Sorry for this one.
Besides, once this ROM appear there, users from HTCmania will start to talk in English about their own experience
This Rom seems very promising.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I'm using this ROM for more than 10 days and the last Beta4 since 48 hours ago and it's really the best ROM I have never settled down.
The developer maybe is not intresred in uploading this ROM that XDA subforum due to XDA is very strict for the new ROMs, and he is not really interested in spending a lot of time in burocracy instead of development.
Never mind, here you are this ROM
Elitemobil the beta4r2 will upload soon, that comment yesterday...

So that.
We are waiting that today, maybe tomorrow is released.
Once it's ready, I'll post here
The new 4.0.4 Beta4r2 is released
In page 1
I have been running this for a few hours now. it seems dead fast.
And some how it has got my 3g working again.
Why is this rom in the Q&A??
I have also got the face unlock working. wow it all works

For reconnecting 3g again you must only switch off the data, put the 3g and switch on the data
I'm not the developer, only I make a reference of this great ROM. And the only place where I can do is in this subforum.
I hope that the developer put his great job in the appropiate forum.
This rom work perfectly for daily use. The only bug is the permanent signal bar.
But, do you have Elite's permission to publish it here?
Better than Dark Night rom?

After 24 hours using the last versión, beta4r2, it's sure that now this ROM for me it's working much better than dark night. It's a real 4.0.4 base
I'm have been flashing ROMs for 14 months and never my SGS has worked as now

How to Flash Install Android 7.x/6.x/5.x/4.4x Builds on the HP TouchPad(Data Media)
Note(Important): If you have not installed Android before or are using a version older than 4.4.4(CM11), then start by using the [ROM GUIDE] How to Install Android 8.1.x/7.1.2 builds on the HP TouchPad guide here. My guide will teach you everything you need to know about using Jcsullins TPtoolbox to install a variety of Android 7.1.1/4.4x(Lineage14.1/CM11) Roms. The TPtoolbox is a dynamic tool and gives us the option to remove, restore or keep the tablets original OS WebOS. The guide on this page will instruct you in updating and installing Roms by flashing them through recovery. This is how you can install and update the latest DirtyUnicorns 8.1 builds.
How can I check my current Android version and System Partition size?
-Get the free app,Quick System Info PRO, to check the size of your partitions and remaining free space.
-Check your version of Android by going to settings/About Tablet/Android Version.
How to make a Nandroid backup:
I highly recommend you make a Nandroid backup after installing and setting up Android on your HP TouchPad. This perfectly preserves your current configuration and can easily be restored through CWM, Philz CWM, or TWRP Recovery.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuhGcXSoXjc
Clean install:
"Clean installing" a Rom means you format 3 basic partitions, system, data and cache before flashing the Rom and gapps package. This erases all user data and ensures a smooth install.
When updating your version of Android its recommended to do a clean install. You can do this by either using TPtoolbox to install android with your chosen files placed in the ttinstall folder or by flashing the Rom and Gapps package directly using your recovery (CWM, Philz CWM, or TWRP).
How to do a clean install with the TPtoolbox:
After installing a data media Rom you can do a clean install of another Rom listed in the guide by again using the TPtoolbox. Return to step 5 B) and install a different Rom. The TPtoolbox will wipe the system, data and cache partitions/volumes and do a clean install, WebOS will not be changed. Your apps and user data will be lost but your media content on the SDcard1 remains the same. If you wish to completely remove WebOS, Android and all data on the device return to step 5 A) and do a complete data reset.
How to do a clean install from Recovery:
Reboot into recovery (CWM, Philz CWM, or TWRP) to Format/Wipe the system data and the cache partitions. You will find a full step by step instructional video below. First choose an Android 4.4.x or 5.0.x Rom and Gapps package from the detailed guide. Next transfer the two .zip files to your Android device with the USB or directly download them. Watch the how to update video below for step by step instructions. Note that you must have the correct Gapps package for your version of Android or you may experience errors or missing apps like the Play Store.
Clean install Step Summary:
-Reboot into recovery
-Select "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", choose "Yes delete all user data"(CWM) or "Clean install a New Rom"(Philz CWM)
-Select "Install Zip", "Choose zip from /sdcard", Locate and select your ROM, then choose "yes install CM-XX-"
-Select "Install Zip", "Choose zip from /sdcard", Locate and select your Gapps package, then choose "yes install gapps-xx-"
-Once complete select "Reboot system Now" to reboot into android.
How to backup and install Android from TWRP recovery Video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U1bF2-RJ24
How to Clean Install Android from CWM recovery Video
How to clean Install Android from Philz CWM recovery Video
Note(Optional): After a clean install you can attempt to use CWM, Philz CWM, or TWRP recovery to advanced restore the data Partition from a backup. This will restore your Android apps and users data but could cause errors, so its considered an optional step. Click here to learn how to do an advanced restore after a clean install with CWM:
Clean install Step Summary with Advanced restore:
-Reboot into recovery
-Select "Wipe Cache Partition", choose "Yes - Wipe Cache"
-Select "Advanced", choose "Wipe Dalvik Cache", "Yes - Wipe Dalvik Cache"
-Select "Install Zip", "Choose zip from /sdcard", Locate and select your ROM, then choose "yes install CM- XX-"
-Select "Backup and Restore", "Custom Restore from /sdcard", Restore just the data partition "Start Custom Restore Job"
-Once complete select "Reboot system Now" to reboot into android.
Dirty Flash:
"Dirty Flashing" a Rom involves formatting the system & cache partitions before the install. This preserves your user data and setup, all your apps and system layout will remain the same. However dirty flashing incompatible Roms could cause boot loops or errors, if this happens you'll need to do a clean install or restore a Nandroid backup(See Troubleshooting section).
-Dirty flash installs are only recommended when updating the same or similar Rom. If nightly builds are available, updating in this manner would be acceptable. Going from one CM11 nightly Rom to another is generally recommended but if you wish to change your type of Rom or version of Android a clean install would be best to avoid issues. Download your selected Rom and gapps zips and flash them through your chosen recovery. Don't forget to wipe your caches.
Click here to watch a video clip of a dirty flash with CWM..
Dirty Flash install Step Summary:
-Reboot into recovery
-Select "Wipe Cache Partition", choose "Yes - Wipe Cache"
-Select "Advanced", choose "Wipe Dalvik Cache", "Yes - Wipe Dalvik Cache"
-Select "Install Zip", "Choose zip from /sdcard", Locate and select your ROM, then choose "yes install CM- XX-"
-Once complete select "Reboot system Now" to reboot into android.
Rom Guide and Videos:
Select One of each, Rom and Gapps .zip files to download and install from CWM, Philz CWM or TWRP recovery:
Or
Select One of each, Rom, Recovery, Gapps, .zip files to download and install with the TPtoolbox:
-Scroll down to see the supported Rom, Gapps and Recovery files available for the HP Touchpad.
-Each Rom requires a corresponding Gapps package for its version of Android. 4.4.x Roms need 4.4 Gapps, or 5.0.x. Roms need 5.0 Gapps.
-Each Rom has notes about its details and a rating for the battery drain during deep sleep.
-Three recovery types are available to choose from; each does the same tasks but the interface is different, CWM, Philz CWM, TWRP.
-I prefer the Philz CWM but its personal preference, unless otherwise specified.
-Check the Rom Developers thread for their recommended Recovery file downloads.
Which Rom should I choose?
-Currently the Android 4.4.x Kitkat Roms are the most mature, stable and fully functional. I would recommend them as your daily driver.
-Android 7.x Nougat Roms are in developmental but aren't as fully functional as 4.4.x Roms. The battery life is shorter, the camera is currently inverted and Bluetooth is less stable.
-The latest Android 7.1 Nougat recovery and gapps packages may not be fully compatible with the current TPtoobox version42 and will need to be installed by flashing through recovery using Flintmans TWRP.
-It takes several months after the initial release of a new android version for it to become mature and stable. Please see the developers threads for the latest details about their Roms, Happy Flashing.

[font=georgia, serif]Data Media Q & A:[/font]
[font=georgia, serif]What is a data media build?[/font]
Previously on the HP Touchpad Android and WebOS shared SDcard space in the media partition. This was the space you saw when transferring data via the USB cable. It stored all your media like music, pictures and movies. Data media builds separate the Android and WebOS space by emulating a 2nd ext4 SDcard in the data partition. The place where your app data was stored, separate from the SDcard media partition. You will need to move the majority of your free space from the media partition to the data partition, by using flashable zips, Tailor or android apps. With this setup the data partition now becomes the main place where your apps and users files(Music, pictures, movies, ect) are stored. The left over space in the media partition is now separate and only used by WebOS. WebOS will be left with just a small amount of free space and the majority will be given to the Android Data partition. You will need to boot into WebOS to access its media SDcard space or use the Evervolv build which allows you to see both partitions from Android. Following these instructions will leave WebOS perfectly intact and it can be used for useful things like flashing the A6firmware[Fix Guide] How to Reflash the A6 Firmware.
[font=georgia, serif]What are the Advantages and Changes for Data Media Builds?[/font]
New data media builds change the default partition layout to more efficiently use the available space. You get a larger area for storing apps and mount an emulated ext4 SDcard all on the Data partition. The ext4 doesn't suffer from the 4GB file size limit that the older Fat partition had and gives you more space for large apps. In additon there is no longer a limit of 50+ apps like some users experienced with the non data media roms.“Performance on ext4 in Android is also probably better than FAT.”*The next advantage for HP TouchPad users is the updated 3.x Kernels all the new Android 4.4.2 builds use. The updated Kernel's more efficiently communicates and allocates resources between the hardware and software. However data media Roms require newer data media recoveries to accommodate the new partition format and selinux support.

[font=georgia, serif]Do I really need to do all this, how can I go back to my old setup?[/font]
If you’re happy with your current setup and Android version there is no urgent need to upgrade. However this is the direction that future builds will take and if you understand the basic concepts of flashing rom's and have previously installed android with the ACMEInstaller, then you should be ready to test these new builds. Experienced users should backup all their data before trying out these new builds. If you wish to go back to your previous setup you can use the new Jcsullins and Philz Touch DM-CWM recoveries to restore your older nandroid backups. Jcsullins and Philz DM-CWM recoveries can see both SDcards while restoring your backups. The Data partition will show up as SDcard and the Media Partition as SDcard1. When restoring a backup it would be best to uninstall android install just moboot and CWM then restore your backup. Note that due to the larger size of data media, backups you cannot advanced restore the data partition of a data media back up on a non data media rom. Please leave our talented developers some feedback in their respective threads. Reporting problems in the developer’s threads and submitting alogcats can help to move development along and fix bugs.

1)Uninstall Android and Clean up your SDcard:
A]Uninstall Android completely by using the ACMEUinstaller2, watch the instructional video here: Next you will need to cleanup your SDcard before we can change our partition sizes. After uninstalling Android you will automatically reboot to WebOS.
Note: I would highly recommend making a backup and transferring it to your PC before removing Android. If you decide to go back to your old setup this will make things easier.
B]Now from WebOS you must clear enough free space on the media partition in order to add that space to the data partition. You can do this quickly and easily by wiping all your SDcard data from the rest options in WebOS. You could also manually delete files to clear up the space but wiping all your data is highly recommend and ensures that the flashable zips will work correctly in step # 3. If you encounter errors or issues during the install process be sure to redo this step.
Completely wipe your SDcard by booting into WebOS and going to, settings/device info/reset options/erase USB drive.
View attachment 2625408
Note(Important): Backup, Backup, Backup, This will delete absolutely everything on your SDcard so make sure you have your personal data files backed up on your computer. Don’t forget to move your Nandroid backups onto your PC. By default CWM backups are located in SDcard/clockworkmod/backup/
Note:This will not affect your WebOS setup, apps or Preware and is highly recommended. The Touchpad will then reboot itself and the data will be erased.
Note:You could also manually delete files you have added onto your Touchpad but I would recommend cleaning off your SDcard from WebOS or the flashable zips to resize the partitions may not work correctly.
2)Run the ACMEInstaller5, Install CWM and Moboot:
Now its time to install moboot, CWM and set your system partition to 600MB by running the ACMEInstaller5. Download CWM and Moboot*then place the zipped files into the cminstall folder on your HP TouchPad. Reboot the device into WebOS recovery mode and run the ACMEInstaller5 from your PC. Watch*the full instructional video here if you're unfamillar with the process but only use the files provided here for installing data media builds.
Download Jcsullins DM-CWM recovery and moboot:

B]moboot_038-tenderloin.zip*
Or
(Optional) Download Philz Touch DM-CWM and Moboot:
A]Download PhilZ_CWM-jcs-dm-tenderloin-20140317.zip
Note: Jcsullins has modified Philz touch recovery to support the HP Touchpad. Philz is a touch interface version of the DM-CWM that still works the same as non-touch based recoveries. Both SDcards are accessible plus you can still use the volume and home buttons to navigate and select options if desired. Philz touch also supports TWRP backup formats, so TWRP users making the switch can still restore their backups. Scroll down in the menu and select TWRP mode to switch to TWRP formats.

3)Switching the majority of your free space from Media to Data:
With the basic partition layout setup(System Partition=600MB), recovery and Moboot installed, we can now move your free SDcard space from the Media partition to the Data partition. Here are a few different methods that we can accomplish this with, the Flashable zips are recommended.
[font=georgia, serif]Recommended Data Media setup:[/font]
Before Data Media setup
system= 600MB
cache= 200MB
media(16GB TouchPads) = 11.5GB
media(32GB TouchPads) = 28GB
data= 1.5GB
After Data Media setup
system = 600MB
cache= 200MB
media = 400MB-2.8GB (depends on methods, 3GB recommended)
data =(16GB TouchPads) = 11.5GB
data =(32GB TouchPads) = 24.5GB
A] Flashable zips(Recommended): Advanced users Gradular and The Ape have both created zips you can flash through recovery that can make the partition changes quick and easy. Download the desired .zips either directly to your TouchPad or to your PC and then transfer them to the Touchpad with the USB cable. There are several flashable zips available but you must choose one that best accommodates your TouchPad model 16GB or 32GB. It’s recommended to use the largest possible zips for your TouchPad model, a 32GB TouchPad could use this 24576 zip*and 16GB HP Touchpad would use this 10752-0.1.zip. Flashing these zips will leave about 2.5GB of space on the Media partition for WebOS and move the majority of space to the Data partition for Android apps and file storage. If you use WebOS often, then you might wish to leave more space on the media partition.

Note: Before changing your partition size you must have enough free space on the media partition in order to add that space to the data partition. If the zips fail to flash make sure that you have previously wiped your USB drive via the instructions in step #1
Note(Important):When flashing files from Jcsullins DM-CWM you will be able to choose between installing zips from both SDcards. The Data partition will show up as SDcard and the Media Partition as SDcard1, see below picture:
View attachment 2626945
B]Tailor: The WebOS Preware app Tailor can be used to make the necessary partition changes. This method also works well but can take longer to setup and complete. Note: Make sure your HP Touchpad is fully charged before making changes with tailor. Checking the file system and resizing the partition can take some time, so be patient. If you get an error during the file system check, run it again. Do Not restart or shutdown the device until it completes. Read all about using tailor by watching*my video*and reading the OP in Gradular’s thread below.
Note(Important):If you have accidentally interrupt tailor you may need to run the WebOS Doctor, See the Troubleshooting section*Video Here:
How to guide for changing your system, data, and cache partition sizes to whatever you want.by*Gradular
C]Android Partition changing apps: There are a number of apps in the Play Store that could help you change the partitions sizes. However the success rate of using these apps is questionable and some require you to get a paid version. If you wish to try using apps make sure you have a full backup before proceeding.*A Parted ( Sd card Partition )*Android Partition Manager Pro
4)How to Install Android 4.4.x Data Media Builds :
Now its time to install android by flashing the rom and gapps package through recovery. If you've chosen to use the flashable zips to change your partition size, then do that first and reboot before flashing the rom and gapps package. Consult the Android 4.4.2 guide below and download anyone of the 5 available Data Media roms by visiting their corresponding threads. Just below the roms you will find the available 4.4.x gapps packages. Download your selected Android 4.4.2 rom, and 4.4.x gapps package directly to the tablet or transfer these files over to the Touchpad with the USB cable from your PC. Once the files are located on the tablet you can flash them through recovery to complete the install. Refer to the full video to see the step by step flashing process with both Jcsullins DM-CWM @ 18:00 and Philz-DM-CWM @ 20:25.
Note(Important):When flashing files from Jcsullins DM-CWM you will be able to choose between installing zips from both SDcards. The Data partition will show up as SDcard and the Media Partition as SDcard1, see below picture:
Philz Touch DM-CWM(Optional):
Download PhilZ_CWM-jcs-dm-tenderloin-20140317.zip Note: Jcsullins has modified Philz touch recovery to support the HP Touchpad. Philz is a touch interface version of the DM-CWM that still works the same as non-touch based recoveries. You can still use the volume and home button to navigate and select options if desired. Philz touch also supports TWRP backup formats, so TWRP user making the switch can still restore their backups. Scroll down in the menu and select TWRP mode to switch to TWRP formats.

DM-TWRP(Optional): DM-TWRP(Optional): If you'd prefer to use TWRP then you can get Jcsullin DM-TWRP below. Flash the DM-TWRP.zip through your current CWM recovery to install it.
Download update-TWRP-jcs-dm-tenderloin-20140512.zip
Note:The Evervolv and CM10.2 Roms will show two SDcards when accessing the tablet from the PC. You can also use a the ES file explore to see both SDcards from Android. One partition will be for Android and the other for WebOS (Evervolv 4.4.2(DM) and Milaqs CM10.2).If you will be unable to see the media partition, then reboot to WebOS in order to access it. ie sdcard0 = emulated android /data/sdcard, and sdcard1 = webos /media/sdcard.

Troubleshooting:
Notes, Fixes and Tweaks:
Note:The following are Solutions for the most Frequently asked questions and problems.
1)If the WiFi turns off in Sleep/suspend mode then uncheck wifi optimization.
Note:Turning off "WiFi optimization" might help to improve WiFi functionality.
-Settings/WiFi/3 Dots/Advanced/WiFi optimization (uncheck)
-In Shumash's Schizoid build you can find it @ RomControl/General
2)If the HP TouchPad isn't charging do the following. If MTP is already checked, then uncheck and recheck the option.
-To Enable MTP mode, Go to settings/storage, look for the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the screen, tap computer connection, make sure there is a check next to MTP.
-This will enable the TouchPad to transfer files and charge using the USB cable.
3)If your Touchpad skips moboot and boots right into Android, then do the following:
-Hold the home key while booting to force moboot to display the Menu.
-To fix this problem use a Rooted File explorer, like X-plore, to delete the moboot.next file located @ Root/Boot/
-This problem is often caused by using the CyBoot app in WebOS.
4)Turning off "network location services" might help to improve overall battery drain and longevity.
-Settings/location access/ access to my location set to off
-You may wish to monitor your battery drain history during sleep.
-Install the the free app Battery Monitor Widget:
-To setup the Battery Calibration correctly for the HP TouchPad,
-go to BMW settings/calibration/Battery capacity/ and set it to either 6300 (F29C) or 5800 (S29C) and tap OK
-Note* See the Battery p/n # on the original packaging.
Or
You can also use Cool-Tools to monitor your battery drain in real time.
-Watch the instructional video Here.
5)You can enable additional reboot options like recovery by enabling Developer options.
-Go to Settings/About Tablet/ Tap on "Build number" 7 times.
-A new menu will appear in the Settings/About Tablet/Developer options/ tab on the left.
-Check "Advanced reboot" to get the Recovery/Boot loader options.
6) When installing Roms and .zips with the ACMEInstaller5, you may need to add "update-" to the beginning of the file names or they won't flash correctly. Like so "update-cm-10.1-20130808-EXPERIMENTAL-tenderloin-BLUETOOTH_TEST.zip"
7)If Moboot is displaying multiple Rom or recovery names that you are not currently using, then do the following.
-With a rooted File explorer go to root/boot/ and delete the unwanted uImage.( X) file to remove the entry from Moboot.
-Here you can also change the default boot option by editing the moboot.default as text.
-Also you can change the default recovery option by editing android.default.recovery
8)If you installed Android and are unable to find the Play Store, you get keyboard errors or Android system errors , then you will need to reflash your gapps package. Click Here for the how to video! Note: If problems still persist then reflash the Rom and gapps to fix them.
9)If you are unable to find the camera app install this Nexus 7 Camera Launcher:
-This will also make the camera preview full screen.
10)Use this free app "4.2 Multiple User Enabler Root" to enable multi-user functionality.
-You can also use the terminal emulator to enable it too, see VFF instructions here.
Bricking, Boot Loops, Help & Fixes(Important):
If your HP TouchPad is stuck in a boot loop or not responding Don't Panic! Try the following:
-Hold down the Power and Home buttons together for 30sec to force the TouchPad to Reboot.
-Hold down the Power button and click the Home key 14 times.

If your TouchPad seems bricked and won't turn on:
-If your battery has been fully drained, then you may need to leave it charging for a full day.
-When the battery is fully drained it can take the TouchPad a longtime to reach even the lowest battery level.
-The USB cable does not transfer enough power to effectively charge the tablet. You must use the wall plug when charging the HP TouchPad.
-After charging the HP TouchPad for a full day try holding down, home + power + volume down for 30+ seconds.
-If the tablet does not turn on after the previous steps it may be bricked and you will need to run the TPDebrick procedure found in the thread below:
Developer Jcsullins has posted a thread "TPDebrick v0.4" dedicated to helping people with bricked HP TouchPads(Important):

How to Change the DPI settings for CM10:
-If your home screen looks a little off then you may wish to change the DPI/LCD density.
Note: Setting the DPI to something other than 160 or 120 can cause compatibility issues with the Google Play Store. If you are unable to download and install apps then change the DPI to 160 or 120.
You can change the DPI settings either by using a free LCD app or by editing the build prop. The two apps below will do the job.

How and when to Use the WebOS Doctor(Important):
Q: What’s the WebOS Doctor and when should I use it?
The WebOS Doctor is a program that has two main functions for HP TouchPad users. It can either update your version of WebOS or fix problems with a damaged WebOS by completely reinstalling it. If WebOS no longer boots or apps and preware have stopped working correctly, then you will need to resinstall WebOS with the Doctor. A failed or interrupted attempt at changing the partition sizes with WebOS preware app Tailor may cause these problems. To check what version of WebOS is currently installed go to Launcher(Up Arrow)/Settings/Device Info/ Version
Note(Important): You MUST uninstall Android before running the WebOS doctor. Failing to remove Android before running the Doctor can result in the process becoming stuck at 8-12% and potentially bricking the device. If you are currently stuck visit the thread below for information about fixing the problem. If you’re unable to use the tablet at all follow the instructions in Jcsullins TPDebrick thread.
The Official Fix your TouchPad ( 8-12% stopped, No SD, Opps reformat, $&^#[email protected]&# crap....) thread.(Rootzwiki)
The Official Fix your TouchPad ( 8-12% stopped, No SD, Opps reformat, $&^#[email protected]&# crap....) thread.(CM)
TPDebrick v004 - Jcsullins dedicated thread for fixing Bricked TouchPads:
Note(Important): Running the Doctor will completely wipe all personal information, applications and preware from the TouchPad. Media like music and movies will not be affected. However I would recommend backing your important files to PC, before running the Doctor.
Note(Important): In order to install apps from the WebOS store you will need to get the Root Certificate fix for WebOS cloud services.
[Video+Guide] HP TouchPad Root Certificate fix for WebOS cloud services
How to run the WebOS Doctor:
1) Install Java
-Java must be installed in order for the TouchPad to communicate with your PC.
2) You MUST completely uninstall Android from the HP TouchPad before running the WebOS doctor. Remove Android by running the ACMEUinstaller2. Watch the following video for full uninstall instructions.
How to Uninstall Android or CyanogenMod on the HP TouchPad (All versions)
3) Download the latest 3.0.5 WebOS doctor application to your PC. If upgrading you can check your current version from WebOS by going to Launcher(Up Arrow)/Settings/Device Info/ Version.
WebOS Doctor 3.0.0 to 3.0.5 Official Links
4) Put the tablet into WebOS recovery mode by doing the following:
-In WebOS Reboot the device by going to Launcher(Up Arrow)/Settings/Device Info/ select “Reset options” choose restart.
-As soon as the screen goes dark hold down the volume up button until you enter WebOS Recovery mode. Note the large USB symbol that should be on the screen. If you miss it just reboot again and hold down the Volume up button right away. Once in WebOS recovery mode connect your USB cable to the PC.
5) Now you’re ready to run the WebOS Doctor app by clicking on the .jar file you downloaded in the previous step. Be sure that your tablet is fully charged and connected with the USB cable before starting this process. Running out of power or interrupting this process in anyway could brick your HP TouchPad. Please be careful and fully read the instructions before beginning.
-Double click the webosdoctor.jar file to launch the app
-Select your language then click next
-Accept the licence agreement, read the warning message then select next to begin the install.
-Be patient the process can take anywhere from 15min to 1hour to complete.

[Video]How to Reflash the A6 Firmware Method 2:
Full step by step A6 Firmware Flashing instructions and Info here!
The Problem:
Developer James Sullins, Aka Jcsullins, has informed HP TouchPads users that there is a problem with our tablets A6 Firmware. This issue can cause an usually high battery drain during sleep. This problem occurs overtime while running both CyanogeMod and WebOS, on the HP TouchPad. As a results the Touchpads battery drains more quickly with daily use and the overall life span is reduced.
The Solution:
Reflashing the A6 Firmware effectively fixes the problem but may need to be repeated as a part of regular HP TouchPad maintenance. Watch this video and follow the step by step instructions to reflash your own Touchpads A6 Firmware.
How to test:
How to monitor your battery
To monitor your battery drain history during sleep install the free app Battery Monitor Widget:
-Once installed open the app and go to history to see a log of your devices sleep history.
-To setup the Battery Calibration correctly for the HP TouchPad,
-go to BMW settings/calibration/Battery capacity/ and set it to 6300 (*f29c), 6000 (*i29c) or 5800 (*s29c) and tap OK
-Note* See the Battery p/n # on the original packaging.
-Note* after setting the calibration, users will have to allow several hours to pass before the history can be accumulated.
Or
You can also use Cool-Tools to monitor your battery drain in real time.

HP TouchPad Root Certificate fix for WebOS cloud services
HP TouchPad Root Certificate fix for WebOS cloud services(Important)
The Problem:
A vital "root certificate" on webOS devices is due to expire on July 23, 2013. This certificate gives Touchpad users access to HPs cloud services for the App catalogue and Backing up the device. When the "root certificate" expires users will no longer have access to the App catalogue and backed up data. Furthermore HPs online WebOS support is expected to disappear altogether by the end of the year. So it’s recommended to backup your personal data and essential Touchpad software to your PC now.
Read the full WebOS Survival Kit Guide Here:
The solution:
Getting a free App catalog update will fix the "root certificate" problem as long as you downloaded it before July,23,2013. If you are hearing about this after July,23,2013, then you will need to first set the date to June,23,2013. To do this boot into WebOS and go to settings/Date & Time, toggle off the "Network Time". Now adjust the date accordingly and download the Update, once complete comeback and Toggle on the "Network Time" button back to on.
To get the update in WebOS go to Downloads/HP App Catalog. Open the app Catalog and select the categories tab at the bottom. Next click on the “new” tab at the top and Scroll down the page till you see “App Catalog Update”. Now install the update and your Touchpad support will continue to work in a post WebOS world.
Note: You may get a message saying the installed failed but this is incorrect. You just need to reboot the tablet into WebOS and the patch will be installed.
Note:This update requires webOS 2.1+ to be installed. Devices with older versions will need to run the WebOS Doctor first, the latest version is 3.0.5.

Additional WebOS Performance Tweaks:
I would highly recommend doing the following tweaks. Read the full instructional guide in the link below:
HP TouchPad Setup Guide Part 1: Speed Up Your Tablet With Preware, Homebrew & Patches [WebOS]
Download and install the following packages from Preware:
You should see a noticeable speed improvement while using WebOS. Also a few apps to improve functionality.
Note* You will need to reboot the device after installing most of these packages:
-EOM Overlord Monitoring
-Muffle System Logging
-Remove Dropped Packet Logging
-Unset CFQ IQ Scheduler
-Unthrottle Download Manager
-Increase Touch Sensitivity and Smoothness 10
-Quiet Powerd Messages (sic)
-Faster Card Animations HYPER Version
-Advanced Rest Options
-Disk Cache Mod
-Unhide Developer Mode Icon
-Reduce Minimum Brightness
-CyBoot
-Ad Blocker OR Max Block – Do not install both.
-Private Browsing (adds an option to your browser)
Reduce Logging & Patch ‘em Up:
This patch require you to log into Skype with the "Phone and Video Calls" app.
Once there place a call to this number using the dialer type: "##5647#"
A logging window will launch, choose to "Clear Logs" first then "Change Logging Levels" and setting logging to "minimal".
Once done, exit the app – your logging levels are now changed.
If you have never used Preware you can watch the 2nd video about Flashing the HP Touchpads A6 Firmware to get it installed.
You will also learn how to use the WebOSQuickInstall-4.5.0 software to install Preware.
Both of these procedures are highly recommended and can be done as part of your post apocalyptic WebOS Survival.

Nevermind.
I got it to work by going into cwr and manually install cm10.1.
(While in cwr I also install gapps.)
The Cid head logo's eyes turn round instead of frowning...It's booting now.
That's the way to do it

Good job figuring it out, that was the recommend install procedure from the OP. You could also use CWM to format System, data and cache then flash the Rom and gapps. I don't recommend doing a full install with these Roms unless you've never used ACME3. Some of the Roms can cause boot loops when installed fresh with ACME3. I don't know why this happens but I have notes about boot loops in the OP. I also tell you to make a Nandroid backup and be prepared with that. I suggest you make one now.
"If you wish to keep your current setup, this Rom and 4.2 gapps can be safely flashed over your current CM9/CM10 Rom, don't forget to wipe your caches. If you are using CM9 and have not yet used the ACMEInstaller 3, then you will want to fully install this Rom and gapps with the ACMEInstaller3. Full instructions can be found here, just use this Rom and 10.1 Gapps.

If I'm not mistaken, milaq and others are waiting on the release of JCSullins' source code so as to integrate the bluetooth fix into their ROMs. I haven't seen any further notice that the source has been released.
oh thx for your answer mate!
i am still wondering why this fix is not implemented in CM updates...
As far as i read its working good...

Nightlies do not have bluetooth working. Dirty flash the 20130808 bluetooth test rom by jcsullins to get it back and do not update to a nightly after that.

Great walk-thru vids RolandD.... I was working on reconfiguring my 32GB TP to be ready to go from 4.2, 4.3 & 4.4 roms without having to mess with WebOS... But I ran into a weird problem... Will list my steps and maybe u can help me figure out the problem...
I installed CyanogenMod 9 using the Rev guide a while back... So I decided to start a new since I needed to get WebOS back to stock so it would take the least amount of space...
I uninstalled Android from it using ACMEUninstaller...
Then I deleted my TP Backup thru WebOS so it would forget all the accounts on it...
Then I did a FULL SECURE ERASE so it would get things back to stock...
I started over the TP... Made sure the App Catalog was up to date & that all stock apps where updated & switched it to Dev Mode & installed PreWare & Tailor & minimized logging...
Then using AcmeInstaller3, I decided to only install moboot_038-tenderloin & recovery-clockwork-datamedia-6.0.3.6-20130926-tenderloin before installing a rom & gapps since I want to do the Tailor mod to the partitions... I plan to switch between 4.2 & 4.3 & be ready for 4.4...
I did not add "update-" to the recovery-clockwork-datamedia-6.0.3.6-20130926-tenderloin file so I am thinking that might of cost half of my problems...
So the TP rebooted... And moboot 0.3.8 started & that's where the weirdness begin... It list my old AOKP rom & my old TWRP install & all the other normal moboot options... I thought the AOKP listing & TWRP would be gone since I ran ACMEUninstaller... So if I choose AOKP it will just hang since there is no rom installed... And if I choose TWRP it actually starts TWRP 6.3.x which I though would of been deleted after both the ACMEUninstaller & the WebOS Full Secure Erase... Not sure why it's still there.... It doesn't make sense...
Then I did something really dumb.. Within TWRP I choose all the partitions... Mounted or not & told to wipped them... Of course the TP didn't like that & recover itself as much as it could... Now I've re-ACMEUninstaller & I have SECURED FULL ERASED the tablet again... It's back to stock... But I am wondering if the old moboot listings & TWRP are still in there...
So I think the new recovery didn't get installed because I did not include the update- line on the file... Easy way to fix that...
I am guessing some how the old moboot file is still there listing AOKP & TWRP & why is TWRP still there... Gonna continue to play with it... But it seems I might have to install Internalz Pro on WebOS or Android to be able to go in there & get rid of the old TWRP & to delete or alter the moboot list... I also remember there was a PreWare prog to uninstall Android... Wonder if I'll need that...
Any info would be appreciated..

K... Was able to fix the problems.... After running ACMEUninstaller again... I just had to install Internalz Pro from PreWare on WebOS & go to the boot folder... There I found a uImage's for the old AOKP, TWRP & some other android.recovery file... Deleted all 3 & reconfig WebOS....
By reconfig WebOS I mean...
Delete Webos Backup...
Full Secured Erased...
Setup WebOS & updated any of the stock apps that needed updates...
Changed Developer Mode to on...
Turned logging to minimum...
Installed PreWare...
Installed Internalz Pro...
Installed CyBoot...
Installed Tailor...
U can install all 4 apps from WebOSQuickInstall v4.5.0
Then I ran ACMEInstaller3 & installed moboot_038-tenderloin & recovery-clockwork-datamedia-6.0.3.6-20130926-tenderloin... Checked moboot's list & everything is on there correctly... Just make sure u have "update-" added to the recovery name when installing with ACMEInstaller3...
Now I went back to WebOS & ran Tailor...
Although I plan to change between roms.. I went ahead & modded the size of the partitions on my 32GB TP to...
USB (media) : 1024 MiB (Should be more then enough for any WebOS mod's/Installs & initial storage for first instal rom & gapps)
Android (system) : 1024 MiB (More then enough for any rom & system app's)
Android (cache) : 200 MiB (Tried to increase the cache but Tailor will say that the Check Filesystem fail... I did not choose to fix it... Just left it alone...)
Android (data) : 25.445 GiB / 26056 MiB (A ton of data space for games, music, movies, etc...)
Unused Space: 0 MiB
The Android (data) Partition Size input was 26056 MiB which shows as 25.445 GiB
Now I am just trying to figure out if I want to install Evervolv 4.3 or CM10.2 first...
Need to figure out if there are any issues with using the recovery-clockwork-datamedia-6.0.3.6-20130926-tenderloin with evervolv... I am guessing there shouldn't be any problems since TWRP is also a datamedia recovery...

You need to carefully read milaqs CM10.2 thread and see what folks are saying about it and the Data media CWM. Then read the Flintmans Evervolv thread and figure out that Flintman isn't doing that setup. You'll note that I don't tell you to install that Data Media CWM due to so many folks reporting issues with it. There are also issues using TWRP with MIlaqs build, why not read about it instead of asking me to read it to you. I see you over at Rootz asking for ETA's on BT...
Soo, here is an updated OP I was working on, read it. If you don't have a backup of CM9/10 install that first, from my provided packages(Easy way guide)! Don't flash untested files with ACME3, hence the reason its all provided for you. No one told you to flash the data/media with ACME3, you realize every time you flash with ACME3 it will resize the system partition to 400MB? I'm amazed when people say they've read my threads but didn't see one of the 3 notes about adding update- to the file names.
"Note(Important): If you have not installed Android before, then start by installing CM9 or CM10 and making a Nandroid backup using the easy way guide below. If you have not installed android for sometime and used the ACMEInstaller3 before, then you will need to do a Full uninstall and reinstall. This is necessary to accommodate the larger partition sizes required by newer versions of Android and the ever increasing size of the gapps package. There is also a flashable .zip file you can use to change the partition size to 512MB. Additionally you can also use the WebOS Preware app Tailor to resize you system partition. Refer to Gradular's thread below for instructions."
Now if you want to upgrade to Android 4.3, go ahead but make sure you fully read the related threads. You see while i'm having to explain the need to read to you, my OP is not getting updated.

Does anyone have audio issues?
Seems like voice calls doesn't work for me. Reverted back to CM10 for now...(need to use the phone for calls today)
Thank you for the rom. it seems mobile data and wifi work. no problem with voice call. no problem with the sound with skype. i must do more tests
same mic problem with 3.1 kernel exists here too. if we have hdmi mirroring, it will be perfect. Bluetooth headset is not working like cm 10.1

I've fixed the issue by flashing a different radio (baseband-N_01.100.00R)
What I've noticed that the Battery Status shows 50% and would not pass that. Will continue to monitor it.
Thank you for the work!
ATT version atrix 4g on tmobile, baseband version N_01.100.00R.
On first boot: The mobile network icon is unknown, quick settings drawer also indicates no mobile service. Despite the erroneous info display, voice works. No mobile data.
On reboot: Stuck in a boot loop. Reflashing everything would let me boot again, but problem repeats itself on and after 2nd boot.
Battery percentage stuck at 100%
its worked tested with full gapps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
and swiched to art ...no problems ..its so stable.:good::victory:
sorry for my bad english
P.D.: interval timer informs the battery 10%

There SHOULD NOT be any problem with battery... (of course the indicator is only with 10% increment)
You know, when you boot into recovery, and do all sort of formatting and flashing, it will deplete the battery but does not update the battery status in /data, so there will be error on battery level
The way to reset it is to CHARGE YOUR ATRIX for at least 2 hours, UNPLUG IT, IMMEDIATELY delete /DATA/BATTD/* (just all the files, not the directory), REBOOT.

-The TPtoolbox will now check the files for compatibility then begin to set your partitions/volumes.
-If the TPtoolbox fails to run it will display which file is incompatible, start the install again and replace the offending file(s).
Note: Flintmans newest TWRP builds cannot be installed with the TPtoolbox and must be flashed from an older legacy recovery.
7)How to change the Partition/Volume sizes(Required for Android 9.x/8.1.x/.7.1.2)
-Before confirming the OS installation scroll down and choose Adjust Volume Sizes from the TPtoolbox menu

-Scroll up and go back a page in the menu, select APPLY Changes and confirm the partition layout
-Now confirm the OS installation by selecting Yes and pressing the home button. Your Recovery Rom and Gapps will be flashed automatically.
Note: I recommended setting the cm-data volume to 2048mb+. Optionally you can increase the cm-cache to 400mb+, users say it could improve performance with Oreo.
TPToolbox Auto Installs your Rom, Gapps and Recovery(Please stand by..)
-The details of partition/volume resizing will scroll across the TPtoolboxes bottom output window and the device will auto reboot into recovery. The Rom and Gapps package will now be installed automatically, this may take a few minutes, Please stand by..... Once complete the Touchpad will restart and boot into Android.
Note:You now have the most stable mature Rom installed on your HP Touchpad(Milaq's Lineage 11 Android 4.4.4). You may wish to stay here or come back to this setup if you have issues with newer 9.x or 8.1.x or 7.1.2 builds.
-I recommend making a nandroid backup at this point to easily return to this version of Android.
8)Download and Transfer Android 9.x/8.1.x/7.1.2 install files to the HP TouchPad
-Once the tablet boots to Android KitKat, connect the USB cable to the tablet and your PC.
Note: You can also transfer files directly from TWRP by plugging in the USB cable to the PC
-Transfer over the 3 android 9.x or 8.1.x or 7.1.2 zip files below, Recovery, Rom, and Gapps, to the HP Touchpad. I put the files into my downloads folder.

-After choosing to install the rom click the button to add additional zips, add the gapps package and put a check beside reboot when complete.
Note: The first boot to android 9.0/8.1.2/7.1.2 can take some time, Wait for it...
Follow up Q & A:
How do I update my rom to a newer version?
-To update your rom you need to do what is called a dirty flash.
-Download the latest version of the installed rom onto the device.
-Reboot into TWRP recovery and flash the rom, just like you did in step 10 but without the gapps package.
How do I change my rom, do I have to start from the beginning?
-To quickly change to a different rom download the rom and gapps to the device and reboot into TWRP recovery.
-From TWRP select the "Wipe" menu then swipe to factory reset (warning this wipes your data).
-Go back to the main menu and install the desired rom and gapps then reboot.
-Be warned switching to various versions of Android like this could cause a boot loop, if you get stuck just start over with the TPtoolbox
What Roms do I recommend?
The biggest complaints about using the HP Touchpad in 2021 are app compatibility and YouTube crashing or having distorted playback. Jcsullins CM11 Snapshot has good YouTube playback and great all around perfromace.
However older roms might not have compatibility with newer apps but newer roms aren't as mature and reliable. This causes users to try different builds in search of what works best for their specific needs and tastes. Many issues have simple solutions, have a look at the troubleshooting section in post 3 for more assistance here. The HP TouchPad has had an incredible level of community support and aged gracefully but has reached its end of life.
#1 Android Kitkat 4.4.4, I highly recommend these builds for people who want the most stable reliable rom. This is your set it and forget it daily driver. From the golden age of HP Touchpad development, these roms have the least amount of issues and saw the longest period of development. Jcsullins CM11 Snapshot doesn't have issues with YouTube playback like Lineage 11 and is an excellent choice.
#2 Android 5.1 CM12.1 Snapshot by Jcsullins. Another fully functional rom by the Touchpad talented one. Much like CM11 this rom has aged well. The user interface is more modern than CM11 but performance is little slower.
#3 Android 7.1.2 roms are fully functional and have good app compatibility. YouTube works well plus streaming fixes were added to the roms. I'd recommend checking out CM14.1 and Evervolv 7.1.2.
#4 Android 9.0 Pie has similar functionality to Oreo but the camera and Bluetooth don't work. The rom is usable but incomplete. If you don't ever use the camera and Bluetooth you probably won't miss them. Make a backup of your current rom before installing and touring this final HP TouchPad triumph.
What Apps do I recommend?
Ad-Away, XDA thread here, Github here
Note: use build 4.3.6 here with Android versions 4.4.4-7.1.2
Blocks adds through host file blacklist. Great app been using it for many years, silly video here
Advanced Task Manager here
Note: From the 3 dots menu/settings/ select, Screen off kill, Regular kill, stat up kill and then disable auto kill notice. You can whitelist apps you don't want killed by unchecking them in the menu.
System app remover (root needed) here
Note: Use a task manager app to identify unwanted system apps popping up in memory and remove them. Frees ram and space, gets rid of unwanted Google apps. Always make a backup before removing system apps.
PassMark Performance Test here
Note: Useful benchmarking tool to compare and contrast rom performance.
Quick System Info Pro here
Note: Great app for quick info on the TouchPads specifications, frequency's and volumes.
3C-Battery Manager here
Note: Great app for testing battery drain and health
3C-CPU Manger(ROOT) here

Troubleshooting
Problem: YouTube videos appear broken and blurry
The solution: The blurry broken playback issue is solved by changing the default video quality from the minimum to maximum 1080p setting and then repeating as needed.
Step by step: Tap the screen to pause the video. Click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner. Select "Quality" and set it to "1080p". You will have to switch the video quality back and forth if the problem persists.
Problem: YouTube keeps crashing to the Homescreen
The solution: Reducing background app usage and activity will help to keep this from happening. Playing videos gradually eats up all the available memory and results in crashing. Setting up a task manager app can help to reduce the frequency but won't entirely fix the issue.
Advanced Task Manager here
Note: From the 3 dots menu/settings/ select, Screen off kill, Regular kill, stat up kill and then disable auto kill notice. You can whitelist apps to kill by unchecking them in the menu.
Problem: My AOSP Keyboard keeps crashing at start
The solution: Download and install an apk for the Google Keyboard here
Problem: Help I'm missing Super User/Root Access
The solution:
To enable Super User/Root access download and flash this SuperSU zip here.
Note: Root is available by default on most roms such as Lineage11 but missing from Oreo 8.1 DU.
-To get root with Oreo 8.1 DU you must also flash Sumashs SKZ custom Kernel here
-You will need to reflash both of these zips each time you update your rom.
How do I overclock my HP TouchPad?
-Us the Kernel Adiutor (ROOT) app here to overclock your CPU/GPU.
-In order to overclock the Touchpad you must have root access.
My HP TouchPad won't turn on is it bricked?
-If your battery has been fully drained, then you may need to leave it charging for a full day
-When the battery is fully drained it can take the TouchPad a long time to reach even the lowest battery level
-The USB cable does not transfer enough power to effectively charge the tablet
-You must use the wall plug when charging the HP TouchPad
-After charging the HP TouchPad try the following key combinations
key combinations to turn the HP TouchPad off or on when not responding:
-Hold down the Power and Home buttons together for 30sec
-Hold down the Power button and click the Home key 14 times
-hold down, home + power + volume down for 30+ seconds
I've tried everything and the tablet won't turn on?
-If the tablet does not turn on after the previous steps it may be bricked or have a dead battery(white battery symbol with ? in the middle).
-If bricked you can run JCSullins TPDebrick procedure to revive your tablet, links below:
TPDebrick v004 Jcsullins dedicated TPDebrick thread(Rootzwiki)
TPDebrick v004 Jcsullins TPDebrick thread(XDA)
Download Jcsullins tpdebrick v004 and v005
-Here is an instructional video made by Joshsnice. It's a little hard to follow and has three parts but with this and the forum threads, you should have enough info to get through the procedure.
Note: Run the 32bit version of Linux
How do I replace the HP TouchPads battery?
-Replacing the battery is not an easy procedure and you'll have to find a replacement battery on eBay/Amazon
-HP TouchPad Battery Replacement guide from iFixit here

How can I check my battery drain and performance to compare with your guide?
-Test your Battery drain with the 3C battery manager here
-Benchmark your HP TuochPad with PassMark Performance Test here
How can I check my current Android version and System Partition size?
-Get the free Quick System Info pro app to check the size of your partitions and remaining free space here
-Check your version of Android by going to settings/About Tablet/Android Version.
How can I check my MD5 in Windows?
-Download and extract the free Hasher program here
-Run the Hasher.exe, browse to the file you want to check and push the "Calculate" button.
-Compare the MD5 result with the MD5 of the file in question, if it doesn't match exactly redownload the file.
How do I make a Nandroid backup?
I highly recommend you make a Nandroid backup after installing and setting up Android on your HP TouchPad. This perfectly preserves your current configuration and can easily be restored through TWRP, CWM, Philz CWM Recovery.

Can't mount USB drive with CM11 and Windows 7
-Plug the HP TouchPad into your PC with the USB cable
-Go into Device manager. You will see "MTP USB Device" under portable devices.
-Right Click it and select update driver software
-Select Browse my computer for driver software
-Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
-Select USB Mass Storage Device then click next to install the driver
[Disclaimer]
I am not responsible for bricked devices, lost data, spillt milk, etc. Backup, Backup, Backup, Using the "Complete Data Reset" feature of the TPtoolbox or the "Erase USB drive" from WebOS, will delete absolutely everything on your HP TouchPad! So you will want to make sure you have your personal data files(music, pictures, videos, etc.) backed up on your computer. Don't forget to move your Nandroid backups onto your PC. By default CWM/TWRP backups are located in SDcard/clockworkmod/backup or SDcard/TWRP/backup .
Note: Make sure your tablet is fully charged before starting any install procedure on the HP TouchPad. Running out of batteries during an install will ruin the process and possibly damage the device.
[Special Thanks]
We all must give thanks to the talented people who helped to make our HP TouchPad Great! Thanks to Flintman, Elginsk8r, Jcsullins, Flemmard, Dorregaray, Invisiblek, Milaq, Shumash, Erik Hardesty, Drmarble, Arco, Steve Kondik, Eyeballer, Verygreen and anyone else that helped to make this happen.

Thank you kindly, just doing my part to support the development of our favorite tablet:highfive: Credit to AlwaysLucky for his post here, I just made it a little more pretty and step by step. Wrote the whole thing up last weekend
Thank you, Roland. You always do a wonderful job on your tutorials. I wouldn't use anyone else's. I have a question. There is what is called a "Virtual USB drive" detected. When I tap on it, it asks if I want to use it as a portable storage or internal storage. Which should I choose?
I would use the portable storage option

Hey thanks so much:highfive: The media partition is being read as an SDcard, nothing is on there but the ttinstall folder and possibly WebOS. I'd choose portable storage to keep it acting like an SDcard. Setting it to internal storage might reformat it and make it harder for the toolbox to find. I did the internal storage option on my phone and the SDcard came up as internal storage but I lost a bit of total space and wasn't able to separate it easily. You can adjust this on the tablet from settings/storage settings/. Update: I've heard some reports of WebOS not booting when it's set to internal storage, thanks

Thank you so much for your help. I have another question. I get the clock has stopped working message when I reboot the Touchpad. Has anyone else had this happen. Is it just a problem with the nightly that will be taken care of in a later one?

No problem glad to help:highfive: I've experienced the same issue with the clock stopping at boot, so far its the only app I've had problems with. It crashes when you to try to open the clock app too. If you need to use the clock for an alarm or what have you get another free Clock from the play store. Any other clock app works fine, I believe its been posted about in the Evervolv Nougat thread but it still seems to happen. I expect it will get fixed sooner or later but its probably a low priority.
Great tutorials
But i have a question about this step "B)Backup, Backup, Backup, Using the "Complete Data Reset" feature of the TPtoolbox or the "Erase USB drive" from WebOS, will delete absolutely everything on your HP TouchPad! "
Did you have a video tutorial how backup Touchpad (WebOS) (img of system and app) to restore this if Android install problem.
Thanks for your help
And happy holidays to you and yours
I read on one of these forums that Flintman has moved the forum for his rom to another platform. Problem is, I can't find out where to! Anybody know?
Thanks a billion!

Hi, happy holidays and new year to you and yours, thanks:highfive:. I don't have a tutorial for that myself but I Googled it here. There was some info however I don't know if any of this will work anymore now that the WebOS servers have shutdown completely, I do have a video talking about that below. If you follow step 2 you shouldn't have a problem with WebOS as its on a different partition and installing android won't affect it, so long as you don't do a complete data reset(step5).
Edit: Checkout post #14 in this thread here Seems to be the best WebOS back up and restore info I've seen. Also interesting info about a data base you can download 6000+ WebOS apps from(here) now that they're considered abandonware.

Day two update: all is still working great. Thank you so much for creating this forum. I thought it would be helpful to list the issues I have to check if other people have the same or if I have found new problems.
[I am running the 26-12-2016 nightly build]
- Only the back (triangle) button works. The square and circle do nothing.
- Gmail app wont sync emails
- If you Restart the tablet it continually loops in a restart cycle (i.e. you cannot use it). Solution I have found is to shut down only.
- Clock app doesn't work, I have disabled the app and don't get the message anymore.
Otherwise everything is working, I have BBC iPlayer on it, Plants Vs Zombies, VPlayer, Sling Kong. Great! My Dad was going to get rid of this tablet but now it is repurposed for my kids (to play games, watch TV programmes on long car journeys) etc.

Only the 'left' Back (Triangle) button is working?
OooooK, Just when I though I'd seen it all with our beloved TouchPad.....
Is this happening in both Landscape _and_ Portrait mode?
Can you swipe down from the top and the menu 'pulls' down?

Hi Dan
Yes those buttons do not work in landscape or portrait mode. The triangle button always works.
I can swipe down for the menu in both landscape and portrait mode. Is this a new problem?
Are the other issues I have common?
Thanks for your help, Andrew
