Skinning a music player

Let me start off saying I have exactly 5 days of Android experience, with my rooted B&N nook (weird not to capitalize that) and that I loath the default music player.
It runs Android 1.5, I've tried a couple 1.5 music players but they were closed source and nearly impossible to use. (Mixzing, 3/^3/Cubed, btunes wouldn't install) With the nook's setup, Android sees one screen, 600x944 with 120 pixels cropped at the right because the 480x144 LCD screen that displays the loader isn't as wide. The default music player is abysmal.
So I am here, with the Android SDK + all 1.5 related things installed to it, instructions for running the firmware in the emulator, and my rooted nook. Hoping somebody will give me some tips as to how I can take some open source player (defualt one of some other device?) and change the UI as to make the normal controls reachable on the LCD with (not necessarily needed) the filemanager/playlist displaying up top. Or build my own simple one.
Still researching and reading on my own, but any direct help would be amazing. This might also launch me into developing some more much needed apps for the nook...

Mezzmo is a DLNA server with transcoding capability. Has anyone been able to get the video option to work? Music and pictures are working great.

Mezzmo is by far the best DLNA server I've tried. It works perfectly with my Series 6 Samsung LED TV over Wi-Fi N. But I also experienced problems with my Samsung Galaxy S - until I found the right settings on some forum. After connecting your SGS to Mezzmo (it's better to have a fixed IP address for your SGS I suppose), go to Mezzmo's menu Media Server -> Media Devices (smth like that, 'coz I have a Russian version of Mezzmo), then find your SGS in a list of devices, double click it to open the Settings window, choose Samsung Captivate as profile and make sure that both checkboxes are checked (especially the one with transcoding options); I also set 800 x 480 as a max resolution on Performance tab; now it works perfectly for all video formats!

You do use Allshare?
I do exactly like you and cannot play video, only music and pics.
What could be wrong?

[Q] XZ with BT MW1 + powerAmp title problem

I've had Xperia Z and Bluetooth MW1 a couple of months and it only shows "unknown - unknown" in the handsfree display even if title streaming is enabled in PowerAmp.
When i flashed it to CM10.1 it worked fine. But then I flashed to stock, and "unknown - unknown" appears again.
i decided to try ROMAUR, witch is based on a stock firmware and the same problem still exists.
Title streaming works with the original Walkman app. But even if I inactivate it or force a uninstall, it doesnt allow PowerAmp to stream any titles to Sony Smart Wireless Headset Pro (MW1).
Does anyone have any ideas why?

Yes. I have the same problem.
Is there any way to fix this issue on a rooted devise?
f.e. to change the bt files?

Yes. I've installed both apps above. Otherwise it wont work with walkman player either.
My old Xperia Arc can send Spotify and PowerAmp titles to MW1, but not Xperia Z. I guess it has something to do with Walkman. But i don't want to use Walkman when i bought PowerAmp witch is better by far.

Without installing anything it works fine with Walkman, but it doesn't work with PowerAmp. I emailed the development and no sound from them.

1)Well as long as I am aware poweramp does have not build in - avcrp 1.3. So that could be an issue
2)Sony makes a custom sound driver for the MW1. that is way the smart connect is build in.
3) by installing a cynonomod os you installing a standard drivers which have avcrp 1.3 build in standard version (without sony modification )

Hmm, you may be right on all three points. But isn't it possible to flash something in CWM or TWRP to override the Sony crappy thing? I'm not so good at how it works, and even worse to self make a zip file which could fix this problem.

[Q] Looking for a working Movie Studio app (videoeditor.apk) on CM

Hi all,
I have been using CM on Xperia devices since CM9 and the Movie Studio app which comes as standard has never worked. It always crashes when you try to export a video. I'm currently on Xperia Z/ZL with CM10.2 stable and it is the same situation - the app crashes when I try to export an edited video.
Does anyone have a working version of this app that you could kindly share?
Appreciate any help.

Is there nobody with a CM rom that could test it for me? Simply try to export a movie from Movie Studio app!

Hi , all i wanted to share a few apps/workarounds for troubleshooting a bug or two
A : the VIDEO RECORDING bug in old LP rom or the latest CM13 build marshmallow rom ..
For this over the year i used the app VIVA VIDEO - editor it works like a charm no lags whatsoever .
If it is not working u might want to use its premium version, easily available free just google it :cyclops:
B : SCREEN CAST / CAST SCREEN / ALLSHARE is not working when trying to connect the phone to outer video source ie. smart tv or android tv
For this i have tried a lot of apps old and new but last week one app clicked just the right thing in my phone i used app by cm`s ex dev Koushik dutta also the owner of ClockworkMod franchise its called ALL CAST i was able to wireless stream my videos onto my smart tv .[samsung] Worked just fine.
If it is not working u might want to ue its premium version, easily available free just google it :cyclops:
C : LOW HEADPHONE/EARPHONE VOLUME during MUSIC PLAY/ CALLS HANDLING ,
For this i had found that there was a significant increase in headphone volume once i flashed THE HBBT tweaks.which is here on xda forum for about some time now , its also goo dfor battery and performance
