It's no use I think. Compiled stock kernel would still have to be flashed which requires unlocked bootloader

Actually I want to unlock my W8's bootloader. After I heard many people bricking their phone after unlocking,I really don't want to risk this cause I probably won't change a new phone for some time.

Hi! I just thought of something.
Why do we don't have this status bar bug before changing ROMs, and appear only after changing ROMs?

YES, I have 11w41, I unlocked my BL and I have now Alfs-8 with firedroid 1.1.
But I'm very lucky and my phone is s special one. Only one bug that is caused by the unlock procedure: I can't send text messages, it's just "sending" it, never gets done.

Do you recently disable some app with Autostarts? Once I had that problem and solved by enabling Messaging in Autostarts.

The ONLY reliable, and existing, way to tell if the phone is "security fixed" is through "GPG cable connection" ... as detailed by the_laser on setool.net
Also, the ONLY way to unlock the boot loader of 11W29+ devices (without hard bricking) is also by using a combined hardware/software approach. There's NO WAY to unlock the boot loader through software only.

Ok, the road is open for someone which buy the software and hardware and unlock, at good price, phone for all 11w29 in the world... Better if one for country. Could be a way to be busy and rich
This is just a joke, obviously.

Afaik there will always be even a small chance of something going wrong. But then
It's the 11w29+ phones that are really at risk.
Goodluck lukenda. And if you do get your bl unlocked, thanks for your help for those of us with 11w29+.

There is no risk. I unlocked mine under gdx with 11w18 and I didn't even knew if I risk something xD
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
As everyone said before, it's safe as long as the phone isn't sim-locked.
However, regarding Jelly Bean -- as nobodyAtall said on his CM10 development thread, it's "a best effort to support the unsupportable" or something like that; our X8 really, really shouldn't go any further than 2.3. I'm currently on 4.0 and it leaves a lot to be desired -- 2.3 roms are *much* snappier, but for some reason I get terrible battery life on those (that's why I'm on 4.0)
How can i be sure that my phone is not sim lock.
Without inserting various sim cards,thanks

Read Bootloader unlock threads for thatv sim certificate. Everything is explained there.
Mine X8 is 11W19 and i had no problems with unlocking bootloader.
Are u seriously asking these or u are testing us.. u have been here since quite a long time and know a lot more than many of us around..
Any way you can check out the thread by spyderx on unlocking with all the methods and details or mine below for a simple one with some usefull links..
And yes i haven't heard anyone complaining about brick for the one's below 11W29, still no one can assure u on that, there are always a few chances if something goes wrong(very small chance )..
Good luck..
No risk is involved, but use your brain a little bit.
Im sure you will be happy after unlocking ur bootloader.
Hey, ur not a noob, though its ur choice
You should read related threads for unlocking bootloder and then follow proper procedure.
U will definitely succeed.
Gud luck

What should I do? I checked many forums and threads but nothing is matching my problem.
Please help!
THERE IS A SCREENSHOT OF THE "About Phone" OPTION IN SETTINGS

No ics for stock kernel. The only way is to pay for it. Or, risk it. I guess it's safe to say you have 90+% chance of hard brick if you try. Not worth it

Yes, we have an ics for stock. But its laggy and buggy.
Though there are many time for stock kernel

don't try it mate. for x8/w8, if the date is greater than 11w28, the risk of a hard brick is huge. better stay on stock kernel. also, you may want to read the stickies to make it clear why that's so.

some people with 11w29 up have successfully unlocked their bl. they got lucky as most who tried bricked their phones. there is also a paid method but i'm not familiar with it.
roms that do not need unlocked bootloader? gingerdx, froyopro, froyobread, amd some more in the dev section of x8. there are a number of roms for stock. so just have a look around.
