I am not to be held liable/responsible if you damage your phone by following / not following this thread.
[ additional info ]
ok, time for some gyan! (by DooMLoRD)
see each cpu/chip is different
each is unique and has different tolerances
slowly keep increasing the frequency
check its stability for 5-10 hrs
check for random reboots
check which one is best suitable for your device
if u start getting reboots/freezes then throttle back and use lower frequencies
remember just because someone else device was able to work at that frequency/voltage doesn't mean that your phone can support/handle that frequency/voltage
I would recommend that u DO NOT use high frequencies for long time! This may damage your device, though the damage is not readily visible!
The high frequencies are just for temporary boost/benchmarks/showoff
You have been warned!
[ how to install ]
please take full backup of system before testing/using this

For controlling keypad back-light LED brightness:
Requirement:
Rooted ROM
UC kernel v4
Terminal emulator or use adb shell
Follow these commands in terminal emulator or in adb shell:
Code:
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness
echo 100 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/brightness
It will set your LED brightness to 100.
Note that resetting brightness value to 0 before new value is required.
And also, the brightness value gets reseted when device goes to sleep and woken up. You will needed some script manager to control this in background continuously
OR
use custom scripts like init.qcom.post_boot.sh found in stock ROM's /system/etc folder and add them to init.d folder.
Note1:From UC Kernel v4 and onwards there will be two releases for every type of ROM, one for stable OC upto 1.6GHz with all features and other with OC upto 2GHz.
The reason behind this is that we do not want to become reason for your device's losses. Using CPU frequency at high level (2.0GHz) is very dangerous and it could damage your device.
These damages are not readily visible but on a long run they might affect your device's hardware.
And we don't think that its worth to OC at high frequency levels at the cost of your device.Note2:OC cpu frequency at 2.0 GHz is not stable on STOCK ROM or Andro-ID, atleast thats the case with my device.
But I could atleast use it for a minute or so on MIUI ROM. So you can use MIUI if you want to OC upto 2.0GHz for show off purpose Note3:
I want all of you to test and give me feedback about fix for multi-touch axis inversion. As I have mentioned it is still in experimental stage. And I need to fix some parameters by trial and error. So need your inputs.
Thanx!
Note4:If you do not want to use UC-kernel bootlogo as splash image then remove splash.img file from /splash folder present in update zip before installing UC kernel. If you have already installed UC kernel v5 then your original splash.img is backed up in /sdcard/UCbackup folder. You can restore it using this Revert_splash update zip.

CPU governors:
Helps in efficient ramping up/down of CPU speed as per demand of CPU load.
They differ mostly in the way the ramping speeds are defined. (Dynamic or constant value)
SmartassV2, interactiveX and SavagedZen are built on interactive governor which suits for high CPU performance with reduced battery drain.
SmartassV2 dynamically sets the ramping speed around a set ideal CPU freq (768MHz) in wake mode and minimum ideal CPU freq (248MHz) in sleep mode. It will try to maintain CPU freq around these set ideal limits. So no need to use any other SetCPU profiles.
IOScheduler:
It tries to distribute bandwidth among all processes according to their weights.
Basically, efficient control of work load distribution over various background running application.
BFQ is based on CFQ. (I dont know much details about any of them. And there is no point in providing technical information.)
In my opinion VR is better.
Check yourself which combination suits you perfect based on overall performance (use different benchmark apps) or battery life.

I can not guarantee about stability on your device as every device is different though sharing same manufacturer.
But I have never faced any stability problem on my device except when I had reduced voltage to a greater extent at higher frequencies, which made it to reboot.
To prevent such problems while setting or playing with CPU related tweaks DO NOT SET ON BOOT option in the apps unless you are very sure about the setting.
By not selecting ob boot you will be atleast sure that the settings will be reseted to default after reboot.
On other note, you dont need to overclock always, you can underclock too. Or for that matter undervolt too for better battery life.
Nonetheless using CPU governors and IOSched makes life great for the device.

the crazy screen thing is cause of using high frequencies for long times...
ur devices will work great at 1.2Ghz... even 1.5Ghz is good... but anything above that depends on ur device...

hi DooMLoRD, remember me? in last posts of v02 thread I mentioned my undervolting miracle...
today I tried the performance governer as you suggested, but the phone freezes on startup & restart once SetCPU & IncrediControl gain super user permission, the setting is 1.5GHz @ 0.75v...
for the phone to boot up stably with performance governer @ 1.5GHz it needs 1.125v...
however, if I use on-demand governer (0% powersave bias - meaning it stays @ 1.5GHz 99%~100% of the time, checked with SetCPU), it is fine, I can play 3D games, loop Quadrant benchmark, run more than 30min of SetCPU stress test without a problem... camera works fine....
based on your experience... can the setting be considered stable?..... like.... something in the boot procedure stresses the phone extraordinarily?? lol?
p/s: for 1.6GHz & above, even with on-demand governer, the phone will need significantly more than 0.75v for the clockspeed to even be applied (scale pulling... it freezes there), I forgot how much, but definitely more than 1v
many thanks for your input!!!
My phone can go smoothly on 1.6ghz at -75v with smartassv2 governor.... i tried -100v but its was an unsuccessful try since it hangs and shut off...

1. slide SetCPU max clock speed (but slowly work your way up)...
2. set governer to "performance" (default is on-demand)
3. apply (don't set on boot, yet)
4. in IncrediControl, decrease voltage of the max clock set in SetCPU, initially you may work with larger decrement... like 100mv....
5. apply (don't set on boot also.. just yet)
6. test stability by playing games, record video with camcorder app, run the Stress Test in SetCPU, loop Quadrant benchmark
7. repeat step 4 but decrease decrement
8. revert to previous voltage if current voltage is unstable (write it down, to be applied later with "Set on Boot")
9. repeat step 1
---------- Post added at 06:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:50 AM ----------
I have done a quick test on battery life & temperature for reference...:
Parameters:
- 1.5GHz
- Performance governer
- 30 minutes of GT Racing Motor Academy HD (just left it there... lol... to avoid inconsistency)
- Discharged from freshly charged 100% battery
- Constant ambient temperature & screen brightness
Result:********************Discharge***********Battery Temp.
- 1.3v stock******************-10%***************37 deg. Celsius
- 0.75v undervolted***********- 8%*****************35.8 deg. Celsius

This is not recommended.... keep the decrements VERY small... ideally decrease 25mV at a time...
Also the best stress test is to use multiple runs of LINPACK/BenchmarkPI

sorry sorry, it was a huge mistake, I was about to type 50mv, then I added the "larger decrement" line, I wanted to change to 100mv but typo 500mv instead LOL, sorry......... but you're definitely right, if we have the patience we should just go by -25mv

1 more observation (no systematic proof though...)
my phone's signal reception is MUCH STRONGER with the processor undervolted, I'm on full bar most of the time now, whereas previously it would be 2-notch, sometimes none...
This is a custom kernel for Optimus Black based on CM's Sniper kernel source.
It aims to continue with knzo's previous hard work (all credits go to him) but in a progressive way.
The name of the kernel contains two different 'fields':
- The date of the latest original lge-kernel-sniper included commit. You can check at https://github.com/CyanogenMod/lge-kernel-sniper if my last kernel includes the latest commits. In negative case, post here to ask for a new up to date recompilation.
- Huexxx's version of the kernel.
Use at your own risk.

FAQ:
Code:
Q. Do I need to wipe data?
A. No, never.
Q. Do I need to flash this if I flash a new CM update/nightly?
A. Yes. Everytime you flash a new CM version, you need to reflash this.
Q. I have xxxxx ROM. Can I flash this stuff?
A. This kernel is intended to flash it over CM7 ROMs. It won't work over stock ROMs.
Q. What can we expect from this?
A. Snappier, increased internet/market page loading, USB transfer rate, etc.
Q. How can I know if I flashed it correctly?
A. Go to About Phone in settings and you should see my nick around there.
Q. How can I change governor and set it on boot?
A. Go to Settings > CyanogenMod settings > performance > CPU Settings.
Q. How can I change I/O scheduler?
A. Don't change it for now... default one is Deadline and it works very well.
Q. What governor and/or scheduler is the best?
A. Take a look at [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242323"]this[/URL] amazing post from knzo. IMHO Smartass V2 (more performance) and InteractiveX (more battery saving) are the best. It seems that new Lazy governor is working so good at Nexus S community, so you can give it a try and comment.
Q. Where can I find the source for this?
A. [url]https://github.com/Huexxx/lge-kernel-sniper[/url]
--> It's under construction right now...
Make sure to read the FAQ before asking any questions.
Regards!
--- Reserved for future use ---
thanx for the great work!
Thanks a lot... flashing it right away.
The link to download it is enabled!
To say that by some reason it doesn't set interactiveX as default governor at boot... but you can set it (or another gov) on boot via Cyanogemod Settings, SetCPU or NoFrills.
Regards!
1st thing thx for ur work i like this kernel
2nd thing : i want u to tell wt is the best settings to set for saving battery and best performance (using profiles in setcpu for example :screen off) , governor and schedulers ?
i want the max battery.
ps: i have tried InteractiveX and i got 21xx points is that good ?
edit :
i'v noticed something ,i got i call and the screen didn't wake up so i'v pressed the wake up key to answer the call :S
Trying! Thanks!

otherwise nice work from you, thank you!!!
Have a nice day.
Hi all!
First of all, thanks again knzo.
I've seen the problem awaking the screen when incoming call. In my case is a lag more than a 'no-awake' problem. I'm looking into it.
Regards!
No lag for me, works fine everything.

Huexxx, try to compile with Codesourcery toolchain.
I compile with Linaro but I'm crazy and aim for performance whereas Codesourcery usually delivers the best stability.
I'm crazy too
Jokes apart, I tried with code sourcery with my first kernel compile attempt and it ended up in a bricked OB...
I'll try again in the future, but at the moment I'm goinf to stuck on Linaro 4.5 that runs guite well.
Thanks for the advice.
It is nice to read the conversation between Android Guru's...
and what can we do is just sit and waiting the updates... hehehe

It's intended for CM7 ROMs.
Maybe it can work with stock GINGERBREAD ROMs.
Don't use it with stock FROYO ROMs.

Works a little bit faster then stock CM kernel
Quadrant score a little better too, thank you for your work.

CleanCache/FrontSwap (via ZCache backend)
Cleancache provides a place where the kernel can put pages which it can afford to lose, but which it would like to keep around if possible. A classic example is file-backed pages which are clean, so they can be recovered from disk if need be. The kernel can drop such pages with no data loss, but things will get slower if the page is needed in the near future and must be read back from disk. Like Cleancache, Frontswap can play tricks with the stored pages to stretch its memory resources. The real purpose behind this mechanism, though, appears to be to enable a hypervisor to respond quickly to memory usage spikes in virtualized guests. Dan put it this way:
Frontswap serves nicely as an emergency safety valve when a guest has given up (too) much of its memory via ballooning but unexpectedly has an urgent need that can't be serviced quickly enough by the balloon driver.
ZRAM (aka CompCache aka RAMZSwap)
ZRAM is an updated version formally known as CompCache and RAMZSwap. It was originally designed for 2.6.38.xx kernels, I have backported to our 2.6.35.xx kernel. ZRAM allows real-time compression of memory objects in RAM thus reducing memory pressure for the Linux kernel and can keep more apps in memory longer (more apps in RAM == better performance, less fetching from slower MMC or SDCard). Compression, however, is not Free. Some CPU cycles are required to do the compress/decompression, so there's a slight penalty for it. The original CompCache / RAMZSwap required a user space binary to control its behavior which adds additional penalty to performance, but the new version ZRAM eliminated the need for a separate dedicated daemon, thus reducing the overhead and increased performance from the old CompCache by 20%. Therefore, with the newer implementation of ZRAM interface, the performance penalty is almost negligible.
Joe's RCU (Optimized for Small SMP systems)
Joe Korty has created an RCU for small SMP systems (> 32 cores). His approach is to isolate all the Garbage Collection (GC, a slow time consuming but necessary processing) to a single core, thus allowing other cores to ONLY work on real required processing. This will allow the additional cores to complete their assigned tasks as fast as possible (not bogged down by GC) then immediately go back to a suspended state (saving battery).
Fast No Hz RCU (Optimized for SMP operations)
Fast NoHz is an optimized version of the traditional Tree RCU. Many new kernels are using the Tickless NoHz design. This RCU is tailored and designed to work with the new NoHz kernel system.
SmartAssV2 Governor (Balanced)
This governor has a built-in "profile" similar to SetCPU, so screen off will use lower clock rate thus conserve more battery, but it also has a fast wake up feature so that user interaction will not see the lag when switching from Sleep to Wake state.... (So SetCPU Profiles are sorta redundant when using this governor, you can still use SetCPU to OC to higher than default Clock frequency).
Interactive Governor (Performance)
This governor is designed to put more priority to User Interface (UI aka Apps) tasks, therefore appears more responsive then the traditional OnDemand governor. So if you want the smoothest UI interaction, this governor is for you...
Brain F*ck Scheduler - (BFS)
This scheduler is designed to be simple and speedy tailor specifically for user interface type systems such as desktop/smart phone devices where user interaction is MORE important than serving 1 million web requests (CFS, the default scheduler) at the same time (think of nimble desktop workstations vs large corporate servers).
SLQB - (SLAB allocator with Queue)
This memory allocator is designed for small number of CPUs system (such as desktop or smart phone devices). This allocator is design to be simple and it is optimized for using order-0 pages as much as possible (order-0 pages are the simplest therefore quickest type of memory in a Linux system to allocate). Not all kernels are using SLQB including CM7 main line...
Fair Budget Queue (BFQ I/O scheduler)
This I/O scheduler is an improvement on top of Completely Fair Queue (CFQ). CFQ is fair in terms of time but not in terms of throughput / bandwidth, so BFQ make sure that both time and throughput / bandwidth are balanced across all requests.

Tigers Blood
Tigers Blood v3.22 Voodoo Lagfix, Sound, Color, BLN, OC/UV[03/31/11]
Developers Note:
As a learning experience, I decided to give kernel developing a try. Tigers Blood is the result. I wanted to make a kernel with some OC/UV capabilities, but yet stable enough for the everyday user. I took a minimalistic approach and by default, the kernel is at stock clocks and voltages and will clock to 1.2 Ghz.
Includes :
Voodoo Sound v7
Voodoo Color
Vodoo Lagfix with modified Clockwork Recovery
BLN (Neldar's free version of "BLN Control" is included - Please donate to Neldar or buy the full version in the Market if you like his work - Full version allows blinking backlights)

Stock+Voodoo
stock+Voodoo stable 5.x for Vibrant by supercurio added 05/01/12
Notes from supercurio
The kind of kernel published here are only stock kernels, which means the exact same code build by Samsung for Vibrant phones.
Of course, there's a difference: Voodoo lagfix 5 stable has been injected in them, with its extensions and also ClockWorkMod recovery as default recovery.
Voodoo lagfix converts /system, /cache, /dbdata and /data to Ext4 with optimized parameters for speed but also guaranteeing data integrity.
Also, it configures the write behavior of Linux to prevent lag from happening, plus apply some memory management providing a better balance than stock settings.
Also supported: custom boot animation, init.d scripts and an improved adb shell (new!)
This kernel also installs the su binary for your convenience. Only activated once you download Superuser App from market. If you don't want to "root" your phone, skip this part.
How do choose the version?
The best version is the closest to the one of the ROM / system you run.
If you use a custom ROM instead of an official Samsung one, ask your ROM dealer which one is closer

DoW14
[GPL] DoW14 v1.4 344MB, Voodoo Lagfix, Sound, Color, BLN 2/21/2011 by morfic added 05/01/12
Notes from
No frosty flakes here.
DoW14-T959 is based on Samsung KA6 T959 Sources
Sleep fix not in, treat it like a stock kernel for now until notified (Do not use profiles that exclude 800mhz)
Only flash this kernel from a "red recovery", do not flash it coming from any ULF kernel, flash a stock+voodoo kernel in-between, then flash this kernel.
Not sure what these other kernels do, but I'm tired of hearing my kernel breaks anything due to THEIR incompatabilities.
Included:
Voodoo Sound v4 (Thanks supercurio)
Voodoo Lagfix (Thanks supercurio)
Voodoo Color (Thanks supercurio)
BLN included (Thanks neldar)
Based on T959 froyo source.
Safeboot to 1GHz for those phones that don't like OC (But 1.4 can be used with setcpu)
TUN (Tunneling/VPN support)
CIFS (Samba support)
JFS (Advanced users only, no automated use of this FS)
DoW14-T959 359MB RAM version -> No HD Video
DoW14-T959-HD v1.4 344MB RAM version -> HD Cam working | md5sum: 743ee5f1023a571260d32bd4c0fcc7f3
Best steps:
Get off your ULF kernel first, flash Stock + Voodoo in-between
You inform yourself what "OC" is and what to expect
Install Neldar's "SGS Kernel Flasher" before flashing ANY kernel.
Backup your existing kernel with his tool.
Flash Kernel through RED VOODOO recovery
Reversal:
Flash the backup you made with SGS Kernel Flasher

Smartass governor option available
Full sound dock support
LIPPOL94's kernel cleaning script integrated into flash package
SetCPU's 400/100 screen off profile safe to use, but not recommended.
NOTES:
The cleaning script is integrated into the flash package, so it will clean before the kernel actually flashes, once its done and you reboot, it will take a little while longer to reboot since the dalvik-cache is wiped.
It is safe to use a screen off profile with 400/100 setting, but i do not recommend it.
The splash screen is the same skull from my froyo kernel, but it has "CM" on it. If you dont like skulls or my splash in general, plz use another kernel. And NO, i won't change or make another version of it, so plz don't ask.
My beta tester, Skitz, has reported low quad scores with this. If you are a person concerned with benchmark scores, then this isnt for you. Quads don't make the kernel, the performance does.
Running OMFGB so i know this will work on that and regular CM7, i hear that CM7 kernels also work on MIUI, but i have not personally tested it on it.

Overclocking. - 1.3Ghz max.
UnderVolting.
Extra governors. - Smartass, Interactive.
Various tweaks. - JPX screen timings.
Sometimes testing stuff. - Stuff from teamhacksung before it goes into their stable upstream.
Changelog:
Fixed battery info/display (Upstream) (NEW)
Some fixes for new recovery (NEW)
Upstream sync. (NEW)
Some fixes for new recovery. (NEW)
Test of new scripts.
Fixed said new scripts since test failed.
Supports GB 2.3.4 (Upstream)
Reviewed some code.
Removed governors: ondemand is better in their current state anyway. (NEW)
Allocate more memory to FIMC0 / fixes googles goggles FC. (NEW)
Upstream sync.
Requires latest CM7 nightly for compass, etc.
Supports bml_over_mtd at flash time.
Voodoo Sound v8.
Some touch-key tweaks.
Fixed touch key inactive on boot.
Added usb dock/audio/etc patches. (Testing - xcaliburinhand.)
Tweaked default haptic feedback intensity. (Slightly softer.)
Changes in LED handling. (Possibly fixes most remaining issues.)
You need this to control the LEDs CMParts see here to install properly (Doesn't install like a regular apk, the reason is its not really an app, it's part of CM7 with modified setting panel for LEDs)
LED on on resume has been disabled for now (keyboard woes - I think.)
Touch key: Enforce recovery routine during r/w failures (Fixes: Touch keys flash and stay off when missing a call - Possibly other weird situations.)
LED stay on when screen off as long as notifications are not deleted. (Due to popular request.)
Fixed liblight for quiet hours/LED issue.
Touch keys light up at resume for a short time. (Like Samsung ROMs)
LED notification respects CyanogenMod's 'Quiet hours' (Settings -> Cyanogen -> Sound -> Quiet hours) Setting LEDs to dim during quiet hours will disable led notifcations during those hours (So it's like BLN schedule except its using the CM feature.) - Thanks for that suggestion.
Fixed keys light time out. (I was being dumb with calls during interrupts, sorry.)
Coolya's battery experiemental tests: allow charging at higher temperature. (Like JPX), changed adc.
Added CONFIG_MODVERSIONS for Voodoo module support. (Future market app.)
Headphone fix. (Upstream issue - Means no play/pause/mic buttons, but at least you can listen to music like before.)
Added smartass - Currently doesn't go under 400mhz. (Not default and just testing.)
Stable OC at 1.3ghz, probably! (At least, 'more stable.' Report if you still crash.)
Fixed voltage table display. (No more '?' in Voltage App.)
Voodoo sound patch v6.
Higher refresh rate and timings, taken from JPX (thx morfic) - Results in 10fps boost in games and smoother scrolling elsewhere.
Le Kernel Du Jour!
[CM7][July 12] Le Kernel Du Jour! Build #2 by TheEscapist added 05/02/12
Notes from TheEscapist
DELETE ALL VOLTAGE CONTROL SETTINGS, AND REMOVE BOOT SETTINGS FROM CM SETTINGS AND VOLTAGE CONTROL AND DISABLE SETCPU PROFILES BEFORE FLASHING THE LATEST UPDATE. THIS GOES FOR ALL UPDATES, INCLUDING UPDATING CM.
This is a CM7 based kernel with a 1.6 Ghz overclock, Voodoo sound and color fixes, uv support, and BLN. See the changelog for all the updates and features.
Informations (THESE CHANGE ON A REGULAR BASIS):
Max clock is set to 1GHz on the first boot, set the max clock in CM settings or voltage control or setCPU.
I cannot possibly stress this enough. IF YOU EXPERIENCE BUGS WHILE ON THIS KERNEL, POST HERE. Do NOT submit bug reports to the CM team, until you have flashed back to stock CM, and can verify the bug exists there too.
Use Xan's UV app to undervolt. It's in that market, search "Voltage Control".
Want to go back to stock? First, if there's any particular reason, please let me know. I love to feedback, good or bad. Then, just flash the latest official update.
Sources --> https://github.com/TheEscapistxda/an..._samsung_aries
BLN is disabled by default. Please enable it by using the BLN control app from the market.
Its not a bug. You're not bricked. Let it boot up.

Devil by DerTeufel1980
Devil3_0.79 - Vibrant - Beta release Updated 061912
This kernel is based on teamhacksung's kernel, with updated Linux base to 3.1.10
this is a first release for the vibrant, so please take it as "beta", although everything should work fine
This kernel is based on teamhacksung's kernel, with updated Linux base to 3.1.10
Kernel working with all ICS Roms
Features:
Brain **** cpu-scheduler (BFS) (this should be much faster than the default cpu scheduler) will be back later
378, 391 and 403 Mb Ram available (selectable in kernel, no need for a patch (403 mb breaks 720p) only reboot required)
2 different recoveries included (cmw touch recovery + twrp recovery)
SIO scheduler (default)
V(R) scheduler (maybe even faster than SIO, can be set as default by using NSTools for example)
init.d
Voodoo Sound and CM9 Color Adjusment / Voodoo Color (VC version)
Devil Idle
BLN V9 (thx to mialwe)
USB Host mode driver (for more information about this, and for saying thanks to the guy, who ported this for our phone, please visit this thread)

Touchwake
vibrator intensity control (by mialwe)
BLX (Batterie Life Extender, I don't think we need it, but maybe one feels better by using it )
backports from Linux 3.2
Swap/Zram support
Zcache, Cleancache and Frontswap
Smooth_ui included to ondemand, conservative, smartass, lulzactive, lagfree and lazy governor (only one setting for activating/deactivating it in general)
3 cpu governor presets (smooth, normal, powersave) for ondemand, conservative, smartass, lulzactive, lagfree (only one setting for switching the mode in general)
many other small features and improvements
Changelog 18.06.2012:
some changes to load balancing
added ultra ksm (metioned by zach thx for this my friend)
readded fiops io scheduler (still experimental and could cause instablilities)
using snappy compression for zram now (2 times faster, but only 2% less compression)
added the possibility to change zram size (at /data/local/devil/zram_size, with valid values: 50, 75, 100 and 150 (all in mb))
fixed the applying of user_min/max freq after reboot
vibrant: fixed gps
fascinate: fixed nandroid in cwm recovery
What is ksm? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kernel_...e_Merging_(KSM)
uksm is more optimized and also working for single core systems. using this should give much better ram usage, but at the cost of more cpu usage

Live OC
[MOD][KERNEL] Live OC
From Ezekeel
"Thus it would be nice to have some way for the user to individually adjust the bus speed to match the overclocking capabilities of their device. Unfortunately with TEUV the bus speed has to be defined on compilation time thus the only way would be to release different versions with different bus speeds which, frankly, would be a pain in the ass. So I implemented a way to change the bus speed on-the-fly while the device is running. In contrast to TEUV not only the bus speed for the maximum frequency but for all states is increased by the same percentage (might change this later, especially for the minimum state)."

Glitch seems to give a better overall battery life for me on all ROMs but sub zero specially build 17 has been no less

subZero works great! The only problem with it is your CWM recovery will have a problem if you're on Froyo BL's. Flash Gb BL's and you're all good.

Thanks for taking the time to release for vibrant, let me know it you need any testing.
Just some minor suggestions, modify init.aries.gps.rc for vibrant (crappy) gps and get rid of fm radio stuff.

So what's the perk of CIFS/TUN as a module? Oh so you can enable/disable it at will?
Any plans for a Voodoo Color version?
You have been thanked stratosk & the newest addition to the Official Vibrant Kernel Thread. So please do visit the pinned thread to post an update and I will get right to updated it ASAP!
Welcome & Thanks a bunch!
Thanks stratosk,we finally get Semaphore here.:victory:
Awesome. So much love for the Vibrant lately. And another of the kernel heavyweights supporting this phone. Maybe we won't need the SGS3 so soon, afterall.
Thanks for playing.

I use to compile some stuff as modules and let the user load/unload them from Semaphore app. I like the modular kernel logic.

I'm sorry, no voodoo color version.
I like that's noop or nothing and ondemand or performance. It's working nicely with ICZen 1.8.3 aka #39 linaro build by MR_Psycho and Br1ckD.
Working nicely. Very smooth coming from devil kernel. But YOUTUBE doesn't work?

Question? Is it compiled from linaro tool chains or full blown -03? Whatever it is is flying!! Good ****! Thanks much

Definately will wait for SGS4...
This is, by far, the best kernel for battery life i've used on Vibrant.
But my GPS dosent work at all.
It worked more than fine on Devils Kernel.
Any ideias ?
Thanks

No changes have been made to gps yet, but a change to init.Aries.Gps made mine work.
Also someone please confirm. I get get prop assert errors trying to install rom with semaphore. Fine if I flash another kernel.

Hi guys,
I want to present my kernel for the Samsung Galaxy S3, that allows you to overclock up to 2 GHz. This kernel is based on the official Boeffla kernel for CM14. Although the official Boeffla kernel supports CM14.0 and CM14.1, my kernel supports CM14.1 only, because CM14.0 for the SGS3 isn't supported by the CM team anymore. It may run on CM14.0 as well, but please don't report any errors if you use it with CM14.0 or any other OS than CM14.1.
Feature list:
- Every feature from official Boeffla-Kernel (6.1 final)
- Support for Synapse (partial) and Boeffla Config (fully)
- CPU overclocking up to 2 GHz
- CPU: 100MHz step added to save power
- Faster boot process due to some internal improvements
- 3 new governors added (adaptive, conservative, interactive)
- CPU voltage can be chosen between 600mV and 1600mV
- full F2FS support (backported from Linux 3.19)
- Charging current can be set up to 2.1 Amps
- Battery percentage never reaches 0%, so the phone won't turn off at low battery
- No overcharge anymore due to an internal improvement
- Early suspend adjustable up to 5000ms
- more undervolting profiles for the GPU
- much lower brightness can be set than on stock kernel; the display will be almost black on lowest brightness level (maximum possible brightness stays the same)
- Configurable kernel logger (turning kernel logger off is not stable on CM and LOS)
- compiled using GCC 7.2.1 by Linaro (Thanks to ZaneZam for publishing the kernel-specific GCC-6-code; this works with GCC 7 as well!)
For configuration I recommend Boeffla Config.
You can use your old config you had using the official Boeffla-Kernel, but this may lead to minor problems. So I'd recommend to reset Boeffla Config before you flash my kernel. If you already use my kernel and just upgrading it you can use the old config without any problems.
WARNING!!! Nobody except you can and will be responsible for a damaged or bricked phone due to my kernel. It's very unlikely that my kernel harms your phone, but it's not impossible.
Have fun using my kernel and feel free to ask questions about it!

Recommended settings from the developer
I'd recommend the following settings to be applied to my kernel:
Battery saving:
Doze enabled
SELinux strict
Governor: conservative or intelliactive
Scheduler: deadline
File system tweaks: both on
CPU maximum freq: 1300MHz
CPU minimum freq: 100MHz
CPU idle mode: AFTR+LPA
CPU voltage: set it as low as it is stable on your phone
GPU frequency profile: 108/160/200/266/350

GPU frequency profile: choose either a profile or overclock manually; you can set this as high as it is stable on your phone
GPU voltage: set it as low as it is stable on your phone
Boeffla sound: configure it by yourself until you get the best sound out of it
LED brightness: 0 to 255; choose it as you like it
Touch boost: 1300MHz or 800MHz
Touch wake: can be enabled if you want this feature
Early suspend: 10ms (default on my CM14.1 kernel)
MDNIE settings: configure it by yourself until you get the best out of it
Touch key LED: same as MDNIE settings
AC charge current: 2000mA

For a combination of performance and battery saving you can either combine these two profiles or leave the default settings of my kernel. If you don't know what a specific setting does I'd recommend you to leave the default value that came with my kernel.
Could You make the CM11 Version please
It's already finished, but you have to compile it by yourself because I never published any zips of the CM11 version: https://github.com/Oebbler/elite-boeffla-kernel-cm11.0-i9300
The instructions on how to compile it can be found below the source tree (on top of the readme file).
If you have troubles compiling it please write to me.
@Oebbler1 Thank You so much for your efforts I am going to try it Thanks for keeping updated our S-3 :good:
Is it safe to overclock that much? And can you post best configuration for this kernel, in your opinion?
Thanks
Pls compile it-cm11.thanks in advance
It is the wonderful kernel. It is really safe because when I too overclocked my phone and it was unstable so I used the normal boeffla kernel and after used the elite kernel again. The kernel cooperate with crdroid v1.5 on my phone. I am really delighted that this phone has 100 mhz frequency cpu and 1500 mhz frequency cpu and more powerful charging. This phone by persons like you is brilliant even today. Thanks for your hard-working.
I think 2 ghz is too high lol my device is direcly crashing
But the 100 mhz underclock rocks:good:

It is safe as long as you don't overvolt above 1500mV. I'll post my recommendation about the config tomorrow.

Yes, but I'll publish new versions in the future. Every published build of my kernel can be downloaded in the "Download" section of this thread. There's an icon below the title of the whole thread that says "Download". If you click there you can download every build of my kernel.
I installed it but I have a lot of restarts with aicp 12.1, thank you good job !!
You experience these reboots because my CM12.1-kernel includes the ramdisk for CM12.1 only and doesn't support the anykernel method Boeffla and I are using since CM13.0. I'd recommend you to upgrade as soon as possible to an Android 6.0-based ROM because most Android 5.x-based ROMs don't work well on the Galaxy S3.
Thank you for your feedback!
