[Q] How to unlock Samsung GT-I9000M from canada - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, my model is samsung GT-I9000M from canada.
the firmware version is 2.3.3, build number: GINGERBREAD.GKG3. baseband version: I9000UKG3.
i want to unlock the network.
i cant root the phone. superOneClick seems not working on 2.3.3 yet. busybox is found in market. i've read many threads and tried many approaches working on I9000, however, it's just not working on this model.
pls give me some hints how to figure it out.
Thanks in advance.

Geeze. I think I screwed up. Here is the issue:
when i first time connected to the odin, two more COM box turned yellow.(so in total was three) I think I might disconnect it in the middle, i got a FAIL. and my phone kept rebooting, showing one GT-I9000M, and then GT-I9000 logo.
But then when i connect it again, it only shows two yellow box in total, including the default one at startup. then i run the PDA, it always shows success 1/fail 1. it still kept rebooting.
Then i tried the kg3 backup in the link "in case sheet! happens", I finally got my interface back. However it still showed "success 1/fail 1" in the process.
Another thing i'm not sure is i didn't do this part :
PIT = 512
PDA = CODE_I9000XXJVP_CL264642_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.m d5
CSC = GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVP.tar.md5
all i did is
"PDA the CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVP-v3.7-CWM3RFS.tar"
i'm so frustrated now, Could you help me fix it? thanks a lot.

I'm not sure why you are getting the other yellow COM boxes.
Do you have any other devices plugged into your USB ports that ODIN might find?
Did you just want to root your KG3 2.3.3 so you could run the unlock program?
If so, just grab the KG3 rooted kernel from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16589476&postcount=183
and flash that as PDA.

this is what i get rooted finally through your link. two yellow boxes. there were three at first. no other device plugged in, i even pulled the mouse to check. and you can see still one fail in the message.
the only problem now is i could just open one disk on the computer when i turn on the USB mass storage. suppose could open both of them earlier. The one with the system files i can't open, the mounted sdcard is fine. i'm not sure if it's related.

great tutorial! Thanks!

Boot loop often happens and means you can't boot into the rom....it's called soft bricked. If you have recovery and download mode still active your safe.
1-Did you check you got the right files ?
2-Did you check the md5sum of the files (if available) to make sure your download is not corrupted.
3-Did you download and flash the proper cwm and/or kernel
4-You missed something in the process. (Recheck #[email protected])

Hi thank you very much for answering. I managed to restart it by flashing a new rom downloaded online, a Froyo 2.2. As I am a little idiot if I write down infos about my firmware would you gently link me to a guide or tell me what should I do to upgrade in order do not do any mistake again? Anyway phone is from At&T but I'd like to unlock operator in order tu use my Italian sim.(before i screwed it up it was unlocked, as i bought it USED from ebay.)
Anyway these are the infos:
Firmware version 2.2
Baseband version I897UCJI6
Kernel version [email protected] #1
Build number:Froyo.UCJI6.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Hope to hear from you
PS: I used this to restore it I897UCJI6-OCD-REV02-Low-designgears.exe and ODIN, if this has any importance!
It should be posted in the OP or there should be a link to sufficient installation instructions in the OP of whatever Rom you would like to flash.
And no need to start a thread in the General and same exact thread in Q & A.
NO need to double post.
Help will be given even with one thread started.
Ok i won't crosspost, I did it because I really need help. Anyway my question.is: now that i have installed this 2.2froyo rom,as i don't know if phone is rooted or not CAN I install a superoneclick 2.3 gingerbread or should i do something first. Will this also remove sim operator lock? Please someone answer
Thanks everybody for help!
If u have root then u should have the "Superuser app"

or View attachment 854464, but Not this in ur app drawer. Or download a free app that requires root and test and see that way.
To go to a Gingerbread Rom from the Froyo 2.2 that u currently are running, u can use one of the One Clicks GB with Bootloaders in the Stickied One Click Thread in the Development Forum.
You have to have the GB Bootloaders in order to run a Gingerbread Rom, but once u have the Bootloaders there is not any need in flashing any bootloaders in the future, because the GB Bootloaders are backwards compatible.
There is risk in flashing bootloaders, so be sure u have a good micro usb to usb cable connection, preferably use a laptop so u don't loose power mid flash, remove all babies, animals, etc. from the room, so the cable does not get "accidentally" yanked during the flash.
Be sure u know what u r doing and then proceed.

[Q] Flashing assistance

Hey guys!
I swear I must be the only idiot out there who can't work out the Flashtool interface. I have rooted, installed CWM and readied my FTF file ready to flash. My problem is actually connecting the phone and getting the interface to recognize the Z.
When booting the program I plug the device in, it loads up and installs the ADB interface drivers and provides me with a prompt giving me a list of phones to choose from. The Z just isn't in there and I don't want to proceed by choosing another device 'by default'...
I have well and truely searched the hell out of this question with as many different queries as I could imagine to no avail. I have flashing experience and consider myself quite computer savvy but this has more then got me stumped!
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Josh

This is how I installed the driver for my XZ:
Install the driver first

Select the XZ driver:
Now update the driver because your PC probably can't find the driver:
Now you have to select the driver yourself. So you have to pick it from the list
This the updated driver:
I hope that helps a little.

Is this what you are talking about?
To flash any stock ROM you don't need CWM. Flashtool is all I use to flash .ftf files
I download the ftf file I want and place it in the firmware folder:
I then start the flashtool app while the phone is unplugged, turned off and make sure it's in "Flashmode"
Once you click "Ok" this window should show up:
And then choose the ftf you placed in the folder. You should see this window:
And flashing will begin.
Just make sure you have full charge on your XZ before you do all this.
Wow, shadowboy23, you really went above and beyond with your assistance given here! You should really consider copying those posts over to the general thread and make a driver installation and flash tool guide (unles there is one...) But yeah, Kudos!:good::laugh::good:
Thanks!
I cannot believe that post shadowboy23 seriously thank you so much I can see the amount of time you have put in there! I myself haven't had any time to check the computer or even think about flashing my phone but will have another attempt this coming weekend and will defiantly bring you results (hopefully good news!)
Cheers again!!
Josh
I had a crack this afternoon and successfully got everything to the stage where your last step ends (on one of my 3 computers only!) and then the flashboot spits out an error message telling me the device drivers are not loaded. I will persist tomorrow afternoon when I have a fast internet connection and can download the latest version of flashboot (I have beta 4 I believe).
Incredibly frustrating process though!!
Josh
SUCCESS!!
Cheers shadowboy!! your new version fixed the issues I was having with the loader and it was all plug and play... but most of all thanks for letting me know to untick those boxes!! saved me the nightmare of having to reinstall everything
Cheers!!

How to fix my phone after breaking kernel (SM-G900A)

Hi! I have a Galaxy S5 G900A (AT&T), Which I wanted to change to a stock Galaxy S5 ROM, to get rid of all those AT&T apps that no-one uses. So I searched it up! Long story short, I found out that AT&T locked the bootloader and I can't do anything about it. Then I found this post to root my phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/g900and3tong3keeprootota-zip-t2862299 . Then I just realized how I wanted root, so I did every thing they said, turned off reactivation lock, installed towelroot, and then flashed the file they said (G900A_ND3_Stock_Kernel) with Odin. After that, My phone just showed the Galaxy S5 logo for a minute like it's booting for the first time, and then it restarted to recovery (stock recovery). I clicked on reboot device in the recovery mode, and it just did the same. Afterwards, I tried to flash the G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar file to go back to normal. Flashed it, and it said "firmware encountered an issue". I went to kies but it didn't see the device. Then I saw this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jfgq6bYfKLg . It had a "All recover Samsung.tar" file which should be flashed with Odin. And, I flashed it in odin. Odin said fail but it went back to the state when it was rebooting to recovery. I tried downloading so many AT&T ROMs and flash it but all say "Fail(auth)!" in odin. Any help? Thanks.
Hope this helps, just ask I will help you further if I can.
I did this too. It's a noob mistake. But from what I understand there is still no way to root Galaxy S5 SM-G900A after the 5.0 Lollypop update. This has to do with the bootloader being locked and not enough dev support on these now considered too old phones to be worth their time.
It took me 3 months to fix it and basically from what I gathered, from you, using the same method. Shoot in the Dark Flashing.

Just keep flashing **** and hope it works. LOL. It can't get any worse, right? After three moths of trial and error Flashing and just a LITTLE wiser in these areas, I think I might be able to help you. You need to Flash something at least 5.0+. Nothing below this will work and will always get "Auth Fail!". That is your locked bootloader preventing you from downgrading and rerooting and reupgrading with an already unlock, root access, stock Rom.
This is the one I used to finally unbrick my phone:
Link it was posted at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/help/g900aucu4coi5-file-t3231450
Link to Download: 5.1.1 OI5 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B11_scgy1qonMW45T0lRbXQ3ZHM/view
But any of these should work...
5.1 PA2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g900aoi5-5-1-unrooted-t3235774
6.0.1 PH2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/g900a-mm-odin-package-g900aucu4dph2-t3477515
6.0.1 PH4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/galaxy-s5-android-version-6-0-1-t3419016
P.S. I was on KitKat before all the above. My biggest mistake was just Flashing random stuff. I inadvertently flashed a lollypop kernel and that is what forced me into an update I could not get out of. So no more root access for me. Lesson learned!
Oh and btw, Hello this is my first post. Never even saw a need to register an account until after be a reader for at least 5 months. The POWER of SEARCH. I did what 5 cell phone repair shops could not. Unbrick my Galaxy S5. All with the resources of this amazing forums.

ASUS ROG Phone 2 E:Failed...

Hello, I was watching YT a few weeks ago and the phone (ASUS ROG Phone 2 tencent edition version 8/128) decided to reboot by itself. It done it before but this time it wouldn't get past the starting logo and restart again! It would keep looping until the battery ran empty... SO I booted in recovery mode, tried to factory reset and get E:Failed to save locale.
A friend has been trying to help me fix the phone and this was the result (screenshot). He can't figure it out.

Hey, haven't backed up before at any point and don't have warrenty. Is there a way to get the phone working again?
Can't find old screenshot; if I remember correctly the first time I tried to factory reset after looping it said "driver E missing" something along that line. Up to that point never tried to change anything on the device by using a usb or PC.

Do it this way:
1. Make a Wipe
2. Download this file https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=8889791610682901175
3. Run fastboot bootloader and connect to computer (side port)
4. Unpack and run "flashall_AFT.cmd" wait for the phone to reset and start up.
Should help.

Question Galaxy S21 dead after trying to update

Hi,
So I've been putting off this last update for some time and finally decided to update it yesterday. Not sure what happened during the process as I left it unattended, came to find out it's stuck on this downloading screen (attacehd image). tried several restarts with no luck.
At one point, after reading a few threads here, I decided to do a firmware restore using ODIN. But, by the time I got to a point to get things going, the phone just shut off! I had it plugged in on the outlet but I guess it wasn't charging? Phone wouldn't start back up anymore!
I would really appreciate some help and guidance on my options now. I'm guessing the battery drained completely Is there any way to get it recharged and revived? If I have to replace the battery with a new one, I can attempt that as well.
Please advise.
Thank you for your input.

have you tried smartswitch?
Hmm, does it do anything if you hold all 3 buttons down for up to 30 seconds?
Perhaps try leaving it attached to whatever device you were trying to flash from, your connection to the outlet may not be working?
The phone is ALIVE!
Display came on! It's plugged in and back to the same screen. What do I try in smartswitch?
What's the best way to recover from that screen that I posted in my first post? Please advise.
Smartswitch fails to connect to the device. What else can I try?
You can try the emergency firmware recovery feature of Smart Switch. Let us know if that does anything.
EDIT: Oops, I didnt read your comment on how Smart Switch doesnt connect to your phone... Try a different PC or USB cable maybe?
The phone gets detected in ODIN but smartswitch says failed to connect to the device. please remove cable and try again.
I would like to see if I can recover without losing my data. Do you think that's possible at this point?
I'm downloading the firmware using Frija at this point and thinking of flushing using ODIN. but would like to avoid resetting if at all possible.

Try using HOME CSC when flashing, if provided. From what I know, it retains user data if flashed with HOME CSC (please look this up yourself however as I havent done much research on this).
Can someone please advise the proper firmware and filesets to flush using the home csc and not lose the data?
I have downloaded a firmware using Frija by providing my phone details and using USC as the CSC. I purchased this phone unlocked.
Below are the files in the archive:
AP_G991U1UES5DWA4_G991U1UES5DWA4_MQB61413430_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta_OS13.tar.md5
BL_G991U1UES5DWA4_G991U1UES5DWA4_MQB61413430_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CP_G991U1UES5DWA4_CP23593197_MQB61413430_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

HOME_CSC_OYM_G991U1OYM5DWA4_MQB61413430_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
Just use HOME_CSC file and the rest of AP, BL and CP to flush?
Thanks so much.
Phone is back up and running with all data restored after firmware flush was done with ODIN.
Thank you for all your help.
