[Q] Rom/Kernals for the Revo - LG Revolution

I have been researching roms for the lg revolution, and im almost positive that the bootloader is unlocked but i haven't been able to find a kernel that fits my needs/wants. I have already backed up the stock rooted rom and backed up all my gfs apps with titanium backup. I would like a rom thats asop, and a kernal that is in between 300 and 1000mhz and undervolted like crazy because my girlfriends phone dies in like 10 mins. I am coming from a droidx and ogdroid where im an expert so this phone is new territory for me.
Anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to Revo land.. you should get with MTMichaelson on here, he is our only actual developer but has done a lot for this phone including our first oc/uv kernel. Check out the dev section here. Also IRC freenode #lgrevolution

There are no ROMs for the Revolution that are AOSP. The only kernel we have is overclocked at 1500 by default. The kernel is undervolted though.

I'm going to go with no because he has 18 posts and no thanks. But I'm just guessing he can answer for himself the next time he checks his thread

best news ever. been waiting! glad I checked the forum before going to bed
hell yeah!
Amazing news! I love CyanogenMod but certain limitations kept me from using it, so I switched to sky raider. Anxious to go back to CM6 though. This and s_off soon made my day.
Thank you, devs, for all the amazing work you all put into this phone!
Awesome news. Thanks for the post!

basically with this we can now have some great stuff going on
1. CM6 will most likely fully support our phone now
2. we can have UV/OC kernels, which allow our cpu to be faster, while not using as much battery (theoretically)
3. whatever else the awesome devs out there can come up with
4. ???????
5. Profit (of course)

Do a quick Google search for Hyda kernel
Hydra kernels for 2.1 were great, undervolting increased battery life. There are also undervolt overclocked kernels as well from hyda.
If you are running 2.2 don't install a 2.1 kernel.
It is cool that the kernel source is out now, more goodies on the way!

While definitely good news, the bad news is that it's the kernel source from the first Froyo leak (7/27), not our current 8/1 version.
Will this help in any way to help fully unlock nand?

They might not have updated the kernel between the two versions.
My kernel-fu is weak, or this source blows. Probably the first.
I am merely disabling perflock and compiling. The kernel works, wifi works, and all that, but when the screen powers off, it comes back to a black screen with a lit white line at the top.
*Sigh*

It's all good man. Basically...with the encrypted bootloader, only "official" roms would allow the phone to boot. So if a custom rom was flashed, it would stay in recovery mode. With this, if everything goes right, the custom recovery will allow the flashing of roms and booting back into android. Hope that makes sense.
No risk. We're all here to help and learn.
The reason this is exciting is that it is the first step towards custom ROMs.
To explain further: Recovery is used on a stock phone to help you recover when you have screwed something up by taking you back to the same state the phone was in when you first unboxed it by loading the stock ROM. Loading a custom recovery, if 100% successful would then allow you to load custom ROMs. However, the X also has encryption that requires a signature on the ROM that is loaded before it will actually boot the phone with the custom ROM.
I think there is some stuff that I missed here but this is the general idea.
The one thing I'm not 100% certain of is if they're going need to work on the encryption still or if a custom recovery gets around that. In this case for some reason I'm getting the sense that the encryption isn't stopping birdman.
all i can say is gimmmmeeeeeeeeee
Great job, keep up the good work. Patiently waiting.

This is huge. We should see custom ROMs shortly after we see a released CR.
Unfortunately, we'll only see custom roms with stock kernels, which isn't quite ideal. I'm still enthusiastic about this though.
True, but we will get a 2.2 kernel when Froyo is released for the X and that will make things just that much better.
I say we look at the fact that we're going to get custom ROMs on a device that is supposed to be totally locked down, even though we will not have custom kernels.
I realize we're not going to be able to truly load an overclocked our undervolted kernel. But the custom ROMs are going to rock.
Please pardon my noobiness here, but how does the kernel affect the roms we can load? Mainly can I load a CM 2.2 rom?

Roms are in the future but kernels no
kernels not only help.you over clock but it effects the UI also but yea we can expect to see CM because of KOUSH

Nspbass - the kernel is what talks to all of the hardware on your phone and we would have to have an unlocked bootloader to put custom kernels on the phone. To load a custom ROM without a custom kernel means someone has to port CM 2.2 over to the X by making it work on a 2.1 kernel and we won't have a true version of Froyo.
However, when we get the 2.2ota update our rockstar devs will very likely get under the covers and give us a full 2.2 version.
One the + side they do have a dev phone that has 2.2.1 on it so we may see it sooner than we think.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: Check this out - we MAY be able to load alternate kernels in the future without unlocking the bootloader: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aMPUcY71Yc
HUGE PROPS to Birdman and Alldroid!
Latest from koush:
"koush: Nandroid worked on the Droid X. Trying to figure out why I don't have adb in "recovery" now though."
Seriously, nandroid backups are priceless. Great to see that koush is working this!
Its been like 6 days since they loaded clockworkmod recovery and nothing has come out yet...there may be major issues, at this rate official group will be out sooner.
Just wish motorola would have left it stock android like they did the d1

[Q] LG O2X Weird Behavior

Hi to all, well a friend of mine gave me a LG Optimus 2X with the Stock rom on it (10d). The phone is very slow at everything. While listening mp3 for example and try to read at the same time my tweets or my mails or trying to open the browser the phone becomes unresponsive for a while. The same goes while on browsing the market! The phone performs worst than any android phone i have ever had!
Any workround? Please help.
Thanks in advance

So there is nothing wrong with the Phone (with the hardware)? It is Just the stock ROM in it?
Yeah, stock ROM is pretty bad really. You should notice a marked improvement by leaving it.

Agreed. The stock roms for the optimus 2x aren't that great. Try experimenting with rooting and different roms (I recommend topogogi's rom and kernel since those are the most stable at the moment). If you don't know how to do it then ask, there are a lot of people in this forum willing to help the people who are new to this kind of stuff

Yes that's exactly what i did! But for starters i installed modaco's FR19. It seems pretty good and stable so far. Now the phone is really fast! Are Topogigi or CM better than the one i installed?

{Kernel}My Stash, OC'able to 1.3, Theme'd Blue CWM Recovery v5.0.2.3 {/Kernel}

I had assembled this for my own use, but I figured it was time to give back to the community. Its built from bits and pieces of many different rom's and kernels. So if you recognize a piece of your work, and I forget to give worthy mention, I apologize.
I am not responsible for anything you do to your own phone.
I've been using this with MIUI LE build, version's 3.1, 4, and most recently 5. I've used it with the most recent Cyan Stable build with zero issues.
Recovery works 100% with this build of CWM. For those wondering, CWM v5.0.2.6 breaks wifi!!! Don't bother using it.

I flashed it and it looks like CM7 stock kernel. It doesn't have the gamma hack on voodoo color settings.

You're in luck. Out of general paranoia (and because the rooting process on JB is tedious) I immediately created a backup of Stock Bloated Rooted, otherwise untouched JB. It's uploading now. I'll edit this post in a couple hours with a link. It's 345MB so it'll definitely take a bit.

Holy crap. Sorry for being super late on this. Things got weird.

Edit: As a random thought, if I had a Bionic that was still on ICS (and rooted with Safestrap) I could probably use RSDLite to flash in only boot.img and then restore this backup so that I could be on JB and have a way to FXZ back to ICS for whatever reason. I don't have a way to test this, however.

I posted that link a year ago. I've moved onto a Galaxy S3 and an HTC One M7 ever since that post.
Wait until 12pm PDT and click on my link again.
Then take a deep breath and thank all your lucky stars, your Gods, and then buy a lucky rabbit's foot. Because it's a complete miracle that I still even had that ZIP file in the first place.
Also, start using a newer phone so you don't have to deal with the mess that was locked-bootloader Moto's. Surely you can at least find a used Dev Moto X for cheap.
