First i want to thank hashcode and everyone who has helped him for the Great ICS build =] I realized that most the posts in the ICS development thread were becoming troubleshooting to basic problems [some by me ], so i decided to make this thread to help others.
Before you post with a problem make sure you have wiped /data/cache/dalvik and done a full factory reset. Also tried installing again. Please also state if you restored your google settings. This will help speed up the process in helping you.
Below are a list of fixes for bugs that have yet to fixed in an updated release, if there are more fixes please tell me and ill add them here. Have fun ;]
Input Selection Keyboard Fix by Androidsims
Go to /system/app and delete OpenWnn.apk and PinyinIME.apk and the chinese and japanese input methods will be gone. Along with the icon in the top. If you have another keyboard installed [such as swype] the icon will still show.
Apps are a bit laggy
use Rom Toolbox to set your VM heap size to 88m. I cant remember where but it was said that this is best to achieve a smoother experience with ICS.
Watch Videos on ICS
use the latest vlc for android. Have to click on videos via root explorer or another file manager app. Opening app directly just causes a force close.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517415
I also ran into my audio disappearing when a call was connected. I went back into safestrap recovery, repeated the wipe data, wipe cache, wipe delvik without having to reinstall ICS and audio was back. Anytime things start getting buggy this is usually my first step before reinstalling.

not sure if it is just me but in alph 1 and 2 i get alot of static when i make or receive any calls thru bluetooth.
i've wiped everything even tried re-installing a couple times and even tried a different bluetooth headset. no matter what i wipe/reset/re-install it all ends up the same result. with static on all calls both ways. i hear static and so does the caller.

I combed the ics forum and found issues similar to this but they were solved with methods mentioned above. The fact that you tried all this already makes me feel the problem is unique to u. Try booting into nonsafe and see if you have the issue then. Sorry for the late reply btw

Better that no reply thanx for the help. But I have installed multiple different roms so far and they all work fine, and last time I was in non-safe mode it worked fine but im not sure if at the time ics was installed on my safe system(not sure if that matters or if that is what you were implying or not). So on BT you can make calls and receive calls with no issues? Mine is kinda weird, when I make a call the static is speratic, when I dial out every time it rings there is static and then I can hear the ring (constantly), when in a conversion every couple of words of the caller is static as well.

Not me. If you scan drom page and past in the ics thread someone was talkin about that issue. I can't remember the exact page and I'm on my phone but look in those sections. There issue was different however but I believe it was still solved with a wipe. I think they wiped the delvik too. But I've read all the posts in the that thread though, I don't think there was anything about static. I reccommend you go ask in there because hash can probably help best.

Awesome, thanks for the input/help guys..
Loving ICS so far, thanks a lot!
My biggest complaint (maybe user error):
Pandora isn't playing audio over my car speakers via Microsoft SYNC. I get successful connection with my car, but I just can't get it to play through the speakers.
Haven't had a chance to test out other media apps.
Does it use cable, 3g, or bluetooth to hook up to the speakers? and to the person before, i havent seen a solution at all with the bluetooth, i think it something Hash will have to fix
Sorry forgot to specify. This is via Bluetooth.
I haven't tried USB or 3.5mm connections yet. I don't keep them in the car since I haven't needed them before.
Edit: I should also mention that audio does play through the phone's speaker. So even though it's connected to BT I'm still only getting sound from the phone's speaker.
Ah thats what i was thinking. I think these bluetooth issues need to be brought to Hash attention as its more than one person experiencing problems with it. And its seems to be solely with bluetooth. You shuld report a bug with it to him in his tracker here
http://www.hash-of-codes.com/tracker
As for help i can tell you to make sure you also wipe your dalvik. I have forgot to mention that to people. Instructions from hash ;] Other than that because im no hashcode i really cant code anything to fix the bluetooth. Report it thought and hash might be able to fix it in Alpha 3
Thanks. Yeah I've been looking for a place to provide feedback and just ended up here.
How do I wipe dalvik? I've seen that mentioned every where along with cache data, but I got list on dalvik.
Boot into safestrap, go down to advanced and click that, and then you should see it. its the second or third option i believe
I must have looked over it. Thanks, I'll check it out.
On another note, 3.5mm plug in works fine in the car. Also, I connected via Bluetooth again and tested out calling. Hands free calling seems to work fine with SYNC.
If hands free calling is working clear then it might be an app error. Is this error with your nonsafe rom? If not then I'm thinking their are still some compatibility issues between apps. I'm going to email both app developers and see if they still have bugs with ics or know anything.
Edit: I reread the thread again. Also look into your settings. The fact that the phone isn't even trying to send the audio over bluetooth is sounding like it doesn't know it has to. Make sure all the settings for both apps are correct and that this function is availible for this. I'm going to do a little research before I email the devs for help and ill tell you what I find
I still have safe boot enabled.
I forgot I was going to try out Amazon Cloud Player. I'll test that tonight yet. I also have to test Pandora since wiping dalvik. Not sure how much of a difference it would make.
I did double check the settings both times I've tried it. I don't think I've looked over anything. So maybe there are compatibility issues with the Pandora app. Cloud Player may be a good test to that.
Amazon Cloud Player does the same.
Turns out SYNC doesn't see my contacts. I have to use the phone to pick a contact but the dial tone plays over the car speakers. I'm thinking it is a Bluetooth issue related to this alpha #2 build.

Hi guys, I started having issues with my SMS this morning. Now, I can't send messages reliably, I'm not sure if I'm receiving them properly now either. On top of that, I am was having issues with 3g, sometimes the icon would not appear at all, and others it would not load web pages or send data via internet enabled apps, i.e. facebook. I must stress that I did not change absolutely anything, and that it just started happening. could this be a flaw with cognition? or is it just AT&T being... well... AT&T?
I assume it's just AT&T being AT&T, I had issues with that exact scenario about a month ago. Cog is working fine for me, but you can always try to backup and re-flash and see if that helps.

If it persists I will re-flash... pain, but what ever. Any-who I'm about to get an inspire 4g anyways so meh.

oh and for the record I'm running 3.04. Looking in to 4.1 anyways, wondering if I can update it without having to wipe everything. Can I restore apps + Data if I go from 3.04 to 4.1, or will that cause all sorts of hairy issues still?
No problem at all. Did you do your research around the forums and see all the reviews about the inspire not being all that it's cracked up to be? Not trying to sway your decision or anything, just making sure you know what you'll be getting into.

I don't think I wiped anything when I updated, but when I restored system apps with TiBu, I got some FC's when it came to a few of the system apps and data, don't recall which ones though.

This is a build that has changes to the libaudio and uses the Froyo libsecril-client.so (when we switched to the old ril, we only changed libril, libsec-ril and rild)
Please test out these aspects:
Signal droppage
Call quality
Call muting / unmuting
Calls via Bluetooth
Calls on a headset
Calls on headphones / earbuds (no mic)
Calls via speakerphone
NOTE: This is exactly like a CM10 ROM, flash like it.
Download: http://androtransfer.com/get.php?p=faultexception/RT-v1.zip
No one?
Also, updated replacement audio.primary.aries.so, please try that and see if you have tunnel voice.
will try today
Could you please also post the MD5 sum for yout zip, my Opera will download only 143 Mb, trying on PC now...
UPDATE: Still 143 Mb on PC (downloaded with Chrome). Is that the right size?

Install gapps 20120726
Fix permissions
I'll update with findings as I have them.
i'll try it out just to see if i get a better signal than helly bean. i used to have 3-4 bars in my house now i have 1-2 which is a significant drop. hopefully this will be better
edit: odin to stock and had full bars, flashed this and it went back down to 2
Loading tonight. I'll post update with results.

Hey FE,
I installed yesterday and have been using it without replacing the file. Here's my findings:
No noticeable signal droppage
call quality has been good
Muting/unmuting works on BT and headphone, did not test on headset
BT calls work fine
Headset works fine
Headphones work fine
Did not test speakerphone
I noticed that you updated your post and the audio file is not listed any more, would you like me to test replacing that file or would you prefer that I download your newly posted build?
Side note - I noticed that data drops when I'm on a voice call and I wasn't sure if that was by design.
Please let me know if you need me to pull anything from my phone.

Did data drop before on CM10? Or on stock?
Someone running this, please try replacing /system/lib/hw/audio.primary.aries.so with this file:
http://androtransfer.com/get.php?p=faultexception/audio.primary.aries.so
And then run this command:
Code:
chmod 777 /system/lib/hw/audio.primary.aries.so
Then reboot, and test for tunnel voice. Please report back here on this thread.

Well I posted enough to get into the development topics so now on to business.
Two test calls with my wife. One out going and one incoming and she said I sound much better than yesterday. I noticed a drop in data when I answered, but I think that I've seen this in ics and the cm10 in general. I also switched to the KA6 modem. Also I'm on a T-mobile affiliate called IWireless.
I asked her if I sounded like a robot or far away in a tunnel. She seemed to think I sounded just fine and I was in a Walmart at the time.

Well the yesterday one I had a few issues with after getting the permissions fixed. I called my wife and it seemed good, but then she called me back and it was all messed up (this is where she got the sounding terrible from). I kinda remember an old problem where incoming calls acted different and you could toggle the speaker phone, but I didn't try that at the time. I think I also called myself from my work phone and it seemed okay, but that is a land line.
Note to self : keep a better log of events for FE
Hope I'm helping and not setting you back.

You should get her to call again and try. And then try without replacing the file, just reflashing RT-v1.
By the way, was this the new or the old audio file when it was messed up? (i.e. the one in OP or the one I posted a little bit back?)

The one which messed up was the one in the op. I haven't had any issues with calls since I replaced with the newest one.
I put back in the original for part of a day after it seemed to be having issues and it appeared to work about the same as it is now. I can wipe and try again over the weekend.
RT-v1 is ok. but after i replace the .so file, the sound is choppy .

Greetings!
This is my first post in this forums. They've been very useful to flash, check updates, etc and I've never had the necessity of posting anything since I've cleared mostly any doubt I've ever had about my Android devices. This time, after searching all over the forums and in several other sites over the net I haven't been able to find any solution to my problem. Let me expose it:
Few months ago after having flashed my device to different ROM's, my friends started to tell me that they couldn't hear me well during phonecalls. The sound was not clear enough. They could hear, the volume was ok, but the phonecall the sound call they would recieve was not well.
I thought that this would be related to the hardware, maybe the mic was broken, because once I was thrown into a swimmingpool and I saved my phone by putting it into a jar with rice and letting it rest for few days. However, I have used other programs such as Skype and done the test phonecall so I could hear myself and it went verywell compared to call recorder app tests or regular call, the sound was much better. So I guess that the microphone is still okay and the problem is related to a setting issue that haven't been changed with flashing to different ROMS.
I've been running several ROMS, most of them based in CM7 and I'm now back to the latest stock ROM for America (2.3.5) and the problem is the same.
Any advice will be very apprecciated!

Hello.
I recently dusted off my Australian Velocity after the Nexus 5 went for a swim at the beach. I have S-off, rooted and installed the albinoman ROM.
There are a couple of issues I have noticed so far.
The 4g connection is patchy at best. Not very stable at all but I can live with that.
The battery indicator is acting strangely it stays in 100% for ages but then it starts going down very quickly until it gets to 14% where it stays for a long time but once it gets past that it just goes to full discharge very fast.
I am having the same issue that many other guys and my MMS capabilities are not working. The phone just stays sending or retrying but messages never leave.
Any suggestions about what to do? I have wiped and reinstalled the ROM a few times and it makes no difference.
On the other hand I love the overclocking capabilities makes the phone feel a bit more responsive.
Thanks and keep up the good work

As for the 4G connection, once you've accumulated 10 posts you should mention this in the CM 11 ROM thread and ask if the APN needs to be any different than normal (or if the mod changes the APN). The battery issue should get fixed if you let it fully charge and fully discharge about 3 times. The MMS capabilities is a known issue; try the specific nightlies that albinoman recommended to fix the MMS issue. New nightlies might break previous fixes and stuff.
Same Issue
I'm having the same issue here for AT&T HTC Vivid, none of my MMS were sent, nor have I received any. It's really essential for me cuz of my group, clubs have MMS and inorder for me to get those notifications I need MMS.
Calls are okay, but there are times where there's no sound on the other caller, so to fix that I end call and call again, which fixes it.
One final issue I've been having since Jellybean and Kitkat is the proximity for when calls, it does not respond. So i have to turn on Settings>Accessibility>Power button to end a call, because the phone's screen stays black during call, and 10-30 seconds after call. Camera is okay too, but doesn;t function well in video recording in apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Overall, it's a great ROM by albinoman, I wish the Sweep2Wake is soon embedded, that's really great and wayyy better than the power button.

I'm also in Aus.
Been running CM versions now for over a year.
The new CM11 has been trouble free, with one quirky problem. I manually set my network preference to 2G at one desperate battery extending moment.
Now i can't find how to select "4G"??? When i use the preferred network type i only have 2 or 3G as options.
When i search for available networks i get an "error"

Yeah I tried clearing everything. Did a manual reinstall of the APNs using a number of different configs.
Did the wipes ....... did a little dance .... pulled the battery and sim ...... sacrificed a small packet of tofu (no goats, i like goats) The gods of mobility have still not smiled my way.
Wont find networks when i do a search yet am nicely connected, can make calls etc etc.
thanks for trying. If i get no joy will reflash a nightlie and see if it resets?!
Yeah, although wiping the caches didn't do the trick, reflashing a nightly (along with wiping data, cache, and dalvik-cache) should take care of the problem. If you are really attached to your app settings, look into titanium backup for backing up your apps along with their data; it's also the way I save my WiFi passwords.

Hi, tried the dialer solution and no joy.
Installed INtelli3G but it needs the xposed framework which simply won't install. Have tweaked instal options appropriately so it should???

Many thanks rignfool
I installed xposed and Intelli3g and with a bit of mucking around now have 4g back!
Seems to work, have 4g 4 bars!
My initial attempts to force lte caused me to have no coverage (I was at work in North SYd so good LTE normally).
Using the "use all" option in Intelli3g, a reboot and swapping around towers was the trick for me.
Thanks again
Mike

Known issue, you just have to be patient until it gets fixed (no one has gotten it to work)
I don't know if it is the app or another problem but when I make voice calls, people on the other end of the phone can here their own voice just after speaking. So when I talk back/reply they hear their own voice along with what I am saying. It has become almost impossible to talk to anyone because people just hear their own voice on top of what I am saying.
I clean installed the official stock firmware and the problem still exists.
Can you please suggest me how I can solve this problem? :crying:
@pleomaxell
To be frank , I've searched for the explanation of the settings all over the web, but couldnt find any.
Moreover, I got no such problems. All my audios and calls seem to be louder then before. I pretty much use the 'quality settings', and sometimes use the 'custom' one.
Coming to your query, have you tried uninstalling then making a call.?
Just to see if no such issue arises
