I just recently switched to ATT service from sprint still have to port the #'s.
I got 2 Infuses, 1 Thrill and a SkyRocket.
All is good except for the Thrill? I have the 2GB data on each phone and I am trying to have the kids (Thrill is for Kid) use WiFi at home to conserve data
use as we are used to unlimited with evo 4g's and evo shifts.
Now the problem! The Thrill Connects to my wifi (netgear WNR2000).
But is will not transfer data. It also times out and loses connection.
When on you tube it says there was a problem while playing
Web pages just won't load. Works fine on ATT network.
I'm fairly computer savy and have tried tweaking the router, different channels,
faster, slower speeds. WMM on and off. Nothing.
Try a different wifi network if it still has a problem I would probably take it back I hate my thrill because of how many problems I have with it

captivate is GSM and can be used for international travel. add to that it's closer to it's i9000 brother than the fascinate and is more likely to have a supported CM7 build (mainline) eventually. basically, if you plan on using your phone outside of it's "stock" state, I say captivate... if you don't plan on doing much more than root and lagfix, fascinate will do.
I am a heavy data user. GPS wifi tether Pandora and sirus radio..I went thru 3 dinc's and alley's since July of 2010.. heavy use.. not abuse

What service provider are you with? If I'm not mistaken the dincs and fascinates are on verizon, which don't use sim cards so the captivate wouldn't work at all on that network right?
Is this possible yet with wifi tether 3 or a gb rom yet my optimus died and i found a hero cheap but i need this feature
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
This should be in q&a. Not development. Mods please move to correct thread. And yes hotspot works on most of the hero roms.

Works but really burns the battery quickly and hot. Suggest you plug in to AC power when using it (although USB works, it generally burns the battery faster than it charges).
So what app or mod does ap tethering
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Any updates on this?
Any updates on how to create a hotspot on a HTC Hero in ap mode and not adhoc?
Thanks.
um no the hero does not support infrastructure mode and never will oh and thanks for bumping the thread
Hmmm... you figure that since the Hero can recieve wifi signal it should be able to transmit a wifi signal...
Running ace revolution 3d, I've tried several other roms and am still not getting my 3g, is there a setting tweak I'm forgetting to turn on or something

Also I'm on boost mobile unlimited/shrinkage, my incredible was flashed to boost mobile, I pay $50 monthly, but my account balance is at $38, not sure if that applies to me not getting my 3g, since I already paid my monthly payment.

Possibly radio related. Try flash a newer radio
Edit: BTW you got the wrong thread buddy
First off, this should be in Q&A forum. This is not a development question.
Did you do a *228/PRL update, or did you turn the phone off while it was in airplane mode? If so, your 3G won't come back unless you follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817487
Flash the first gingersense leak by rmk40. Should fix it
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-
Your phone will not work on a Verizon ROM when its flashed to Boost.Boost is Sprint and will not work with the included radios etc that are for Verizon.I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain it won't work.

RADIOS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. I'm on cricket wireless running newts runnymede 3.5 with the latest 07.07 radio. after you flash the rom you want, you will then have to flash it to boost. I have used every incredible radio with many different roms. So your gonna have to search on how to flash the phone back to boost or pay someone to do it
Are you guys sure? Everything else is working, mms, calls, etc its just my 3g
Sent from my HTC Droid Incredible ADR6300 using XDA App
Did you use boost apns with apn backup and restore? With me on cricket my 3g always works its the mms I got to fight with. Was it originally a boost phone? Can you access epst, if so make sure its all set for boost sometimes when I flash a rom it changes my epst settings in the security tab and mip profile tab to vzw and I got to change them back
In my neighborhood...of all places, there is no 4G connection. If I was to put Gingervolt 1.3 on my phone, would there be any negative consequences being that it would be done over a 3G connection or WiFi? I would have posted this in the actual thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326542" but I'm unfortunately under 10 posts as I generally have just lurked so I was made to post it here.

Yes it is, just make sure to have 4g enabled before flashing.
Shouldn't be a problem what you are connected at as long as you look in your settings and lte/cdma is selected sorry I can't give you the exact location of where that is at in settings I broke my settings app last night and haven't put a working one back on yet

I flashed the rom and also got the blitzkrieg kernel and it's all running well & yeah I had thought it was just the LTE/CDMA but it never hurts to ask!

Anyone know if this is possible? I want to connect my phone to my laptop and use the internet, when I plug it in I see the option for "internet connection" but it doesn't do anything.
Thanks for the help
Search "tether" and you will find what you are looking for.
There's 2 options. You could use wifi tether. Wich u have to search Google for. Or u can use easy tether which is on the market
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
But if I use wifi tether. Won't I need to.be connected to a wifi network? I want to use my 3g/4g connection. If there is wifi connectivity, I could just connect my laptop to that, I wouldn't need my phone?
Thanks for the clarification
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
No you need wifi tether it creates a hot spot but requires root
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
Wifi Tether will be included in the next GingerVolt also. I am trying to find a way to get it to have certain settings automatically, but no luck so far.
With ur USB tether share switcher works really well for me. Just add the widget and click on the usb

Ouch!! I just slapped my forehead really hard.
Good answers gentlemen, as always.
In our themes and apps section, there is a thread "wifi tether, not mine" there is an app that works perfect for me. I have thought about dropping ATT for net, and just using Verizon for surfing at home. That would save me 50 dollars a month. Downfall: I have an awesome phone that can do that, my wife does not. So I would have to retire, and live at home and write best selling books so my phone could always be here to make a connection to the net for my wife. Boy.. that would be... terrible.

Yeah that app used to be in the market but was quickly pulled, so now Google just posts it there.

Your provider may require you to pay a fee. There are likely folks that can get around paying.
I did try "easy tether" when I found that the rooting process damaged my tethering setup. It did work well for an hour to two, until my provider found me and throttled me down to dial-up speed. "Their support guy enjoyed my story and admitted the same thing happened to him once too.
