Well... if you want to install CWM you have to install a new kernel. The closest one to stock you can get is the CF-Root, which you can find here. You will have to download the zImage specific for KL3. Please read the first few posts carefully.

Just choose your present kernel from the links provided and run already-rooted.bat file and that way your kernel will remain the same version while having CWM installed
Thanks for the reply, I ll do it and let you guys know.

Sorry for repost, wrong category.
So, here's the story again .
1. I had 2.3.3 xxjvo Gingerbread with cfroot
2. I flashed 4.02, the platypus one
3. I wanted to go back, I used my cwm backup
4. Cwm's were different version -> soft brick
5. Flashed stock froyo with 2e recovery
6. Unbricked phone with dbdata.rar
7. Noticed still have the 4.0.2 kernel
8. rooted the phone anyway with cfroot because no root
9. Got Rom manager, Superuser. Flashed recovery from the app
10. Noticed: still 2e recovery.
11. Tried to reflash. No result.
It asked the permissions and everything, why not work?
Also, is there a way to install a fully stock rom and kernel with odin?
Can 4.0 be flahed with odin?
Instal a stock rom and then flash CF-root from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
I'll try, but I kinda did that already.
Where can I get the original xxjvo rom with the kernel, the links seem to always bee broken!

Man try this:http://androidadvices.com/info/samsung/galaxy-s-i9000/page/4/
I solved this one myself: I made a cwm backp, which messed things up from the beginning, but I knew it was valid.
I got a very similiar rom to my own, flashed it, cfrooted and used cwm to restore the old file:
IT'S UP 'N' RUNNING WITH ALL ITS APPS!
I am so glad, I will probably go to ICS again but now I'll just flash the firmware and use my backup. I gotta love this SGS.

Hello,
I have recently downgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.6(using this Rooted_Stock_Odex_N7000DDLB2.rar), kernel version LB2. Now, I am really struggling to understand what should be done next?
How can I root LB2? Do I have to downgrade it again to the lower version using PC odin? If yes, which is the safest one?
My main aim is to install a custom ROM.
EDIT: Ok, so I can see superuser app in my drawer(so it is rooted). I want to install a CWM recovery option so that I can flash kernel and flash custom roms. Sorry for the confusion.
use the three button option to go to custom recovery that must have come with your present rom
( vol up+power+home -- till you see N7000 logo, wait for recovery to appear)
from the options in this recovery flash whichever rom you want.
read the instructions in opening post of the rom you want first.
wipe data, cache, and in advanced -- dalvik and then flash zip file of the rom you must have placed on your sd card from before.

That is the issue. CWM recovery is not there.
what happens when you use three buttons for recovery ? blank screen ?
then download KL3 rom from Dr Ketans sticky thread and its corresponding rooting tools ( zergrush method) and flash that rom.....
or you could also try KJ1 from Dr Ketans signature, thats also pre-rooted, it will give you a recovery,
flash again indownload mode if you face simillar problems.
KL3 is reliable though.

I was not getting options to take backup, restore. Now I have installed CWM recovery using InitialCFRootFlasher method(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784).
I can see CWM now and also many option when I restart the mode in recovery mode.
Now, next step whether to flash a kernel and then flash a custom ROM? If I flash a kernel first, which one is compatible with 2.3.6 firmware?
u dont need to change kernel now on GB
u want to flash ICS custom rom right ?

This is one thing I have to explore now.
Any good custom rom would be good. Pleas suggest.
i just realised you should have posted in QA forum.
No matter which rom you decide to flash you must read the opening post and last couple of pages to get a fair idea.
ICS kernels and stock ics based kernels like CF root, - you cant wipe on them, factory data reset, flash new zip roms, nandroid restore, so be careful
my fav is Kingdroid v 7.4
but you can also flash the most recent release of Touchwiz official - LRQ and learn to root it and then install mobile odin and flash a safe kernel- its newest headline on this forum, worth it. :good: you can flash it with mods from Jeetu's thread in theme section.....
have fun
Hi guys I'm new to the N7000 forums, but I am no means new to the android and flashing scene. I'm just a bit confused as to how to safely install ROM's on the note.
I've attached a screenshot of my "about phone" so you guys can tell me what kernel I should flash before installing different ROMs
The ROM(s) I'm interested in flashing are Jellybam, Sweet ROM (JB version) and Ultimate jellybean. Can these roms work with any safe kernel? i.e. once iv'e flashed philz or franco kernel I can let the flashing begin.
Also do I need to flash a safe kernel in order to install cyanogenmod or other, not based on stock roms?
Forgot to mention that I am rooted. Any help at all would be appreciated, if I am wrong about anything so far, feel free to set me straight.
Thanks to all who responded, if anyone else wants to reply feel free but i'm going to mark this as resolved so their won't be any confusion.

if you are on stock kernel then download Philz kernel for LP7, flash that in recovery, should give you root again aswell. then you can flash away to any of the ROMs you listed above. just every time you flash a ROM or think of factory reset or data wiping make SURE you're on a SAFE kernel. that's all
as you are rooted, just install any safe kernel like hydracore or philz. thats all. then you can try out any rom. Just make sure you follow the instruction to flash the rom in the OP
I saw that the Philz kernel has a lot of different versions, which one do I choose, am I right in saying the UBLPC one, as that is my build number? Or any one can work, I also read that you should not flash with the temp CWM, I will admit though I used the temp CWM to flash the root files and i'm still ok but I don't want to take any chances, how do I flash with the stock recovery?

this is the one you use - PhilZ-cwm6-UBLPC-UUB-2.7
http://www.mediafire.com/file/35d4kd...2.7-signed.zip
the zip file mentioned above can be flashed using stock recovery. Put the file on ext SD card > boot into recovery > apply update from external storage > thats it

First, forget about the franco kernel. The franco kernel for the Note is outdated and thus useless. Second, if you plan to flash a JB leak the only kernel you should use is PhilZ. And especially important with the JB leaks is to stick exactly to the instructions how to flash. Otherwise your phone won't even boot.
Have fun with your device! The Note is still an outstanding phone.

Thanks guys for the quick replies, i'm gonna flash the philz kernel now and give the leaked version of JB a try.
make nandroid backup 1st..
Hi all!
I'm going to flash CWM recovery on Samsung galaxy mini (stock 2.3.4) and I'd like to ask a couple of questions.
I'm going to follow this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529863
Is it okay?
1. Do I have to root the device before flashing CWM with odin? Phone isn't rooted now, it's completely stock.
2. Can I install ANY custom rom with CWM? eg. CM9 or 10?
3. I want to make sure that if i want to install a custom rom, first I flash CWM with odin, then custom rom with CWM. Do i have to do something else?
I'm asking these questions because I don't want to brick my phone on my first time flashing something.. I want to be sure.

Okay, thanks very much for your help!
if you want to be on stock then root first before flashing CWM as after flashing CWM you may not be able to root your phone.
If you want to flash custom rom then there's no need to root your phone.
Just boot into cwm wipe data
flash rom
again wipe data and then reboot
remember that wiping data is needed before and after the flashing process.
Ok, I'm going to flash CWM tomorrow
Thanks for help!
E: Succesfully installed CWM on my SGM!!
Enjoy and play more with your rom

Hi All,

i had bricked my device bt now i have managed to install the stock rom
my device is rooted need help in installing cwm recovery so that i can install cm11 or cm12 or any other rom
how do i install cwm tried many ways.. need flash files to install it with odin
also i searched in forums bt am confused regarding kernal and all
Please need assistance
Thank u very much.
I think you're in the wrong section. anyway,
1. if you're still on stock recovery, try install Philz kernel(search in the forum) for your stock ROM, Install it using update function in the stock recovery.
2. reboot to recovery again, you'll have philz recovery (but it's outdated for flashing android KK and above ROM, but you have to install it first since it pass the stock recovery verification) then flash kernel that compatible with android KK n android L.
3. then reboot to recovery again, and finally install your cm11 or 12 ROM and the following Gapps they provide
I Tried that bt still not able to find the correct version for my mobile if you guide me for the proper link/ direct link i can provide all the information required
thanks
You can find it following this:
3.flash PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT6-XSA-5.06.1.tar.md5 (http://d-h.st/OTu) to get cwm recovery by using odin or mobile odin (To download click the blue Download now button)
