some times the phone stops responding to the power button. just black screen. nothing helps. only to take out the battery. can it be the sdcard?
CM 7.2
Hello!
This sounds like a SOD(sleep of death).
Do you use the latest KANG?
What kernel do you use?
Standard kernel or a custom build?
It could be the battery - I had SODs after reinstalling the stock battery – switching back to my Andida battery I use since August 2011 helped.
But this was in connection with an UV-kernel - didn't have SOD with standard kernel.
Use a more stable rom. Stock based ones.
Hello!
The latest CM7-KANGs are very stable - I actually have less trouble/SODs/instabilities with them I ever had with stock based roms.
But temasek/CM7-sources had a few little hiccups in KANG building around x-mas, which are sorted out right now – so the OP should update to the very latest kang since their seem to be some KANGs in between with some issues…

This to me I'm 99% sure its a SOD. You cannot recover unless u pull your battery.
Nothing is wrong with your phone. It just happens with our phone though I've not had a sod since long long ago.
Update to latest rom and just pray it doesn't come back again.
If it happens again use power + vol up. Depending on your sd card it might require an extra shutdown because it doesn't mount properly. I just hate pulling battery with people around cause it looks stupid

try to use another rom...for example guestes rom...it´s very stable

Hi everyone
Recently, i've updated my i9000 from cm9 to cm10. But i found it a little bit laggy, there is too much data run in the background and my phone can't just handel it. Some app don't work anymore (i have some message after an unsuccefull update saying "out of memory").
Do i have to wait for further updates or should i go back to the latest CM9 ?
PS: Is there any tips to prevent the shuting down signal problem with the i9000 ?
Hey,
I've had the same feeling about CM10 being laggy on my I9000. Hopefully it's just another bug.
And it is a well known issue that some apps aren't still running yet.
I went back to CM9.1 which runs really smooth. I'm gonna wait for a CM10 stable version and check if it's still laggy.

Yust move apps to SD, CM10 has a new partition layout.. That solve the problem of low space
Try elitemovil rc12.1 which is faster and smooter than stock sgs3

You should try the new nightlies, hardly any lag at all.
All jellybean roms get laggy no matter what you do, I tried most of the JB roms and I used HellyBean for a while with super launcher (a custom supercharge for galaxy s) and it kept working fine because somehow by flashing a new rom version often the phone would stay fine (wasn't just wipe cache and dalvik)
But I'm now back to ICS because even if most of the time the phone is doing fine, when you need it the most it starts failing even overclocked at 1.4 and with performance mode and swap, so I will wait 11 days and buy the nexus 4 !
Jelly bean runs fine on my phone to be honest. No lag or nothing. Only ROM that's ever lagged is hellybean.

On X-Bean 3.0 + Semaphore 2.5.0s here. LiveOc 120, ondemand ui, noop/sio, big mem 404mb, rasd 1024. Running smooth & stable here. No lag, reboots etc whatsoever

My experience is the exact same as the one you quoted.
I believe the clue to having a stable jb is to avoid most of the non-vanilla settings. I.e people come in various jb threads claiming bugs and unstability, while having oced, deep idle, custom kernels with experimental settings, not having wiped, flashed the wrong package - lots of issues that are experimental and not stock and stable.
The question of what is stable is relative, but I'm convinced that the ability to read, knowledge, proper flashing and simple logic would help avoid 9 out of 10 "unstable" jellybean experiences.
I am aware this might come over as a bit condescending, and I guess that's partially true, but it's not directed at any particular person here.

people, CM10 is the best. I've never had such a great rom, I mean, the SGS I is old, but with CM10, oh boy... I've never had such a good battery life, such a smooth rom, and non laggy ( helly bean was a disaster, it lagged a lot and very few updates).
Well, here is my settings:
-> CM10 latest nightly
-> JB hugemem patch (391mb ram and 720p recording still working)
-> Rom Slimmer
-> Semaphore kernel 2.5.0s:
.......- oc 1140 MHz
.......- SIO
.......- Smartassv2
.......- 512kb read ahead
-> SUPERLAUNCHER + SQLITE

i cant believe that so many ppl are busting HB.
laggy disaster?
first of all, HB is a CM10 too.
and beside this HB isnt laggy!
sometimes it depends on the phone, cos a SGS1 is not a SGS1. so many differences available...
best is, just try some JB ROMs and decide for urself!
I never had problems with CM10 . Run smooth .
I think is the best ROM i had experienced on my SGSI .
I installed slimbean (cm10 based) recently on my i9000m and its a tad laggy when I am pushing it but overall its better than the last stock GB rom that I had been on for a long time (got tired flashing this and that). And its stable too. Overall the switch has been nice, for the main reason that I have less of a desire for the SGS 3 (hey there's always the 4 one day right?)
My experience with cm10.1 has been roller coaster. To day it is fast and smooth but yesterday it is leggy and gets stuck. I frequently get popups of applications not responding etc. The i click wait and it gets done.
Before you throw me with rotten tomatoes let me give you the steps that i followed.
Got a brand new i9000 from from a warranty claim a month ago.
Flashed cm10.1 nightly using Cwm after having to work around a few bugs with the new heimdall program not being compatible. But with CWM on I no longer needed the pc.
Download a nightly (26 Feb)
So did a factory reset and wiped everything. Flashed cm10.1 nightly again just to make sure. Then loaded a modem that seems to work for my area. The modem is a XXJVR and is a ICS modem. then flashed Google app for jb 4. 2.2.
Rebooted and logged in. Restored all my sms using sms+ backup and restore
Installed all my preferred application from play Store.
It started nice but soon became slow and large.
So I updated to 10.1m2. Same problem.
At this moment it is workable. It takes about 6 counts to respond to changing from portrait to landscape. If i turn it one the home screen takes about 2 counts to get updated and responsive.
Holding the home button gives you the recent application list. It takes about 2 counts to respond with a vibration and then 2 to 3 more counts before the menu pops up and the list of recent applications have been populate. I don't know if this is normal but 5 counts feels forever when you decide to do something and need to wait for the system to be ready.
I am not over clocking and I am running no custom kernels.
The notification bar at first comes down in jumps. If i do it again it is smooth.
But the biggest frustration is typing. The lag between presses and haptic feedback seems to be random. It is always under a half a second but when you want to type you never know if it got the press or not. Just as you think you need go repress the letter updates.
Battery life is also erratic. Yesterday the phone was uncomfortable hot in my pocket all day. Battery did not make 14h. Today it is cool and it is at 73 % for 9h.
The main battery life is taken by android OS and screen. Not calls or any of the chat apps that I use. Yesterday Android OS took half my battery life.
Going to apps the zoom is jumpy and sliding jumps. If i do it again it is smooth.
And today is a good day.
Any suggestions what I can do to improve the performance? Except getting a new phone.
H
I don't think I can quite relate to that, my phone runs CM10.1 quite well...
Had to be said though that I can feel my phone struggles running it, pushing the limits pretty hard.
My phone has the slow RAM, unfortunately, I'm sure a lot of the people posting stories of glory are ones with the faster version.
That said, I could never in a million years go back to an earlier version, I know my phones limits and work around them without too much trouble, mainly browsing (using Chrome) is the one thing my phone struggles with.
But regarding your erratic phone behavior, have you installed a startup manager and better battery stats?
Android battery stats doesn't always do a very good job of reporting exactly what apps or background processes are draining over time...

It been quite some time now, but have you been able to fix your erratic behaviour? Cause I'm experiencing something similar.
I tried Slim JB & Fishears Rom so far. Right after flashing, without any apps, the roms seem to be running smooth but Slim JB soon became laggy so I tried out Fishears Rom which seemed to behave smoothly even after installing some apps.
But after several month of usage the system slowed down almost as much as it was with Slim JB.
As both of them are based on CM I guess it's a general problem that the SGS 1 just can't handle the new Rom + big amout of apps. Sometimes it runs relatively smooth if I cleared RAM etc and didn't start any apps, but as soon as I for example listen to music in the background everything just becomes laggy :-/
I guess after 3 years my SGS1 is just too old now^^

Hi. No I gave up. My first SGS1 was amazing and did not behave like this. I think it had faster ram. Due to some issue it was replaced under warranty. The replacement looks the same but it is very frustrating. I am running stock rom now 2.3.4 with almost nothing installed. But it find that it is a pain. Calling takes long to actuality start to dial. The screens are smooth but when you do things. Like flip between apps or go to dialler it is almost unusable.
I think Samsung release more expensive variations in the beginning and then keep the look the same but drop the cost of the handset to the end.
Hi.
I'm a noob in this custom business and i have a i9000 and i just flashed CM10.1.2 and everything is ok but i want to use igo and after install i get an error about the sd card. How can i use igo?
Hey guys,
I have my Note for about 7 months now. The last 4 months I used a ICS nightly rom (can't quite remember which one it was).
Everything went smoothly, but some day the Note started to take a while to wake up. Did not make a difference if powered on by home button or by the power button. I thought this was an issue of too many apps or something. So I wanted to make a clean new install. So I did everything in the normal procedure (wiping everything, install new rom etc.)
So now I tried the Rocket ICS, the Rocket JB and currently the ParanoidAndroid roms, but I still experience this enormous lag of 4-8 seconds when waking up. I tried the Abyss kernel 3.9 (which didn't work with the ParanoidAndroid rom, I guess b/c of the new mali drivers). So I tried a kernel with the new mali drivers, currently the JellyBeer kernel. So the rom booted fine, but still no change to the wake up lag.
So right now I just don't know what the problem is and how to fix this. The lag most often appears after the phone rested for a while. Also changing the cpu governor does not change a thing (ondemand, conservative, performance, and so on)
I hope one of you guys has an approach or a solution to this problem, because this is getting really annoying.
Thanks in advance,
MCSCHMIDD
No ideas?
Additional info: that lag does NOT appear when I have the phone connected to my PC or a power outlet, only when running on the battery alone. Switched the battery yesterday, seemed to work fine again. But after recharging on the power outlet over night the lag appears again.
Any ideas guys?
Hallo,
I am sorry, to post it here, but I cannot post in the related forums below 10 posts.
So I had 4.1.5 and it was great. I flashed 4.2.3 now and it was great until after pretty much one day, when it becomes slow, had the same issues with 4.2.2 (becomes slow after a day until reboot or downgrade to 4.1.5) where I downgraded again, but it is not possible anymore without resetting the launcher3 due to some changes.
It will crash repeatedly.
Any help?
Kind regards

I've been using CM based Mackay ROM for a long time now, updating to every new version as they have been released, and have not experienced anything like what you are describing.
Also, you should have really posted in the Mackay ROM thread...

@neox456! I am not sure I understand your problem fully. I have been using the same ROM since it came out for Kit Kat but never had a problem such as yours.
Could it be the no. of apps you have in your phone ? Or maybe because you aren't using low mem option (which was a feature of Kit Kat)?
It'd be good if you could explain your issues a bit briefly.

Did you install CM10.2 (stable) or CM11 before Mackay 4.2.3? This increases your partition giving you better performance and is recommended for KK roms. Try again with 3 wipes plus Format System first, then the CM11, 3 wipes and format again then the Mackay Rom. If you get into trouble, go back to GB 2.3.6 with ODIN like you did when you first rooted your phone and back up from there. Hope it works for you.
The difference was between 4.1.5 and 4.2.2/3. But I played around a little and the main difference was, that KSM was on with the later ones and not with 4.1.5 so I am pretty sure that slowed my device down after a while.
I'll try 4.2.3 without KSM now and see if it won't slow down.
I cannot answer on the official Mackay-Thread until I reached 10 posts!
neither can I yet...
Naaah, it did not really help...
But I guess it is the KitKat slow downs... it is not as horrible as 4.3, but still far from well usable.

Very strange.. I went all the way back to GB 2.3.6 then CM 10.2 (or 11) then SlimKat and it works really well with no FC or lags. (well maybe say max 2 second delay opening Whatsapp but I can live with that. Plus they all seem to have a 1 or 2 second delay when a call comes in for the screen to register.
Well... I am not sure... Maybe it is too many apps. At least they are not constanlty crashing like in JB4.3.
What about waking up the phone for you? Do you have a 2 seconds delay there, too? Well I sometimes have a more like 10-15 seconds delay. I press the power button and nothing happens and after a while you notice the phone is ready, because the LEDs are glowing and funnily you can already unlock it, although the screen does not show anything yet...
Well and sometimes it is only a few seconds...
I have always used CM or Mackay-CM... not sure, whether the other ROM will make such a big difference...
I had lags with CM in ICS so I went to Liquid smooth by aways .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223729
I like that one, no problems opening apps or answering phone call. Pkus he uses semaphore and the Nova Launcher which has a nice look and feel. Pluis customisable.
Then after to SlimKat, (after increasing partition using the CM11) which works pretty good. I will flash the mackay rom or the omni this weekend to see how it behaves in comparison.
I am down to CM9 (still Mackay) now and happy with it.
Some features got lost, but I am happy, because in general it is way more useable.
Hi everyone,
I'm planning to reflash my device with another lollipop rom. I'm currently (and have always been since its release) on AICP. But I'm fed up with the freezes and such
Is there a better, faster (battery friendly) lollipop rom than AICP? Or are all the roms kinda the same? (like everyone has a lot of freezes)
I thought about temasek (since it fully supports the fast f2fs), candy5 but also all those new sabermod roms which i do not know a lot of.
What do you think? Have you tried other roms? What is your experience?
Thank you!
PS: How's flashing XPOSED? I'm using it also on AICP 22/10. Is it safe to use or is it actual one of the reasons behind the freezes? Cause I use xposed for greenify and Superusermod which I need for some sony apps
Is it just me or what
Every 5.1 rom on my sp are horrible lag
Battery life are terrible
"quick boot " take 2mins to turn on my phone
I prefer stock 4.3 or 4.4
Try temasek with t-kernel, i use this rom almost month and it's good, almost none freezes, but this system got 2 annoying bugs:
- Long boot
- Bluetooth don't remember saved device, you need pair every time
I think xposed causes problem with freezes so i don't use them now.
"quick boot " take 2mins to turn on my phone
This is not even possible.
I think you might've understood the meaning of quickboot wrong.
Quickboot doesn't mean a reboot would be fast.
When you enable quickboot and "SHUT DOWN" your phone, you'd go into a state of hibernation.
And when you power it back on, it starts up within 3 seconds
I have never even got it crossing 5 seconds. Ever!
Is battery life same with temasek? Or does it wear down quicker? Also how do you use apps like greenify and superusermod then?
I use greenify pro without xposed, superusermod i add manually, about battery life it's good ( i think like other LP roms) Today new version up i start downloading now
Yeah already downloaded! And alright then. And sorry I didn't mean temasek I meant tangerine kernel Goes battery life quicker down and does it have better performance or only a little?
Didn't test too much with stock kernel, in new version oftemasek is new kernel so i now check it
Since development for this phone is dead, what is the most current and stable ROM out there other than stock? I've found that on stock I get constant freezes and horrible lag unless I reboot once a day.
I just wanted everyone's opinion on what would be the best ROM to currently run, and does it receive updates? Or is every ROM posted here dead?

I tried CM a while ago but the lack of updates and lack of support were a deal breaker. Not to mention I constantly had issues with data handoff after turning off wifi. This time I went with PAC-ROM and so far I couldn't be happier.
