[Q] i9000 rebooting in recovery and download - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my international gt-i9000 is constantly rebooting in recovery and download, as well as normal. i was running onecosmic ics and it just started rebooting this morning, so i put it on charge and tried to charge it to fix it, thinking it was relating to low battery...
this didnt work and its still rebooting in recovery and download. i also tried putting on the stock kernel (zImage) through heimdall but that just soft-bricks it, since it reboots during the download process. i did manage to get the kernel back on there but it still just constantly reboots.
pulling the battery stops it.
any ideas on how to fix this? my other phone is a windows 7 phone and isn't as great to use!

Reflash to stock rom. Flash a CWM Recovery and then flash ICS.
Note that ICS is still in testing phases and such issues are common.

Unfortunately i cant flash a stock rom since it reboots in download and recovery...

Upgraded through KIES to FROYO buts stuck at BOOTING & VIBRATES

I have just upgraded to FROYO through KIES after 3 HOURS of waiting.
But my is stuck at boot screen & vibrates..
i had tried the recovery but no use.
please help me...
my phones also stuck at boot screen I cant even go to download mode it says POWER RESET or UNKNOWN UPLOAD MODE anyone else have these problems?
my phone does the same thing after I upgrade via kies, as well as flash samfirmware.com rom....stuck at boot screen and vibrate and black screen, but I'm still able to go to download mode...
I'm able to flash to one customer rom, but then not able to go into clockworkmod recovery anymore...always give me signture verification failed, even when I choose reboot to recovery in ROM Manager.
Is there anyone can help?
I experience the same. I took out the battery, go to Recovery mode.
Clear system and cache. No use, it does not solve the vibrating issue while Froyo running.
Then, I go to Recovery, format internal SD, clear system and cache.
Boot into Froyo, do a factory reset.
Froyo been running 24 hours. no big issues. when running multiple complex tasks, SGS vibrates for 1-2 times while lag (memory??), then back to normal operation.
When normal, it runs smooth and stable.
Will test for more hours.
Try flahing the new rom via Odin, that should sort it out. samfirmware has a guide on this and all the stock roms you could wish for, or theirs plenty of info on xda. Also remember it's always best to do a factory reset before flashing a new rom or updating, especially when going from 2.1 - 2.2. Use titanium or nandroid to backup before hand. I had similar problems with Kies, in the end I uninstalled it and just use odin, much more reliable

[Q] waiting for bootloader to initialize

Hi, I think I have a major problem with my phone.
When doing a rom install the phone got stuck and did not respond to anything. Eventually got the phone back to life using NVflash. Re-installed the blazing rom from a back up and the phone was back to normal. However less than 24hrs later the phone spontaneously crashed to dead again. Nothing will restore it. Using NVflash again its get stuck at "waiting for bootloader to intialize. I have read all the other similar post and tried all their suggestions...but to no avail. Is there any thing else I could try. Is there a different boot.img file I can use...since this is the only thing that gets loaded when I run nvflash.bat.
thanks for any help you can offer.
You should try to restore a Stock ROM, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127849.
Or flash another ROM, like Cyanogen or another, to see if the problem still occurs: if it still occurs, it doesn't come from boot.img but from a deeper problem.
I can't even load a recovery image via NVFlash let alone choose a stock rom!

Phone is got into bootloop

I'm using Doc's master Rom Ics V8 and the semaphore kernel with Huge Memoroy (Sbm I Think ) and the phone has been having FC lately and when I tried to reboot it just got stuck on booting... any Idea why??
Normally, take the battery out and wait a few minutes - reboot...
If that does not work try to re-flash the rom in recovery etc.
This always works for me.

[Q] Note randomly turns off and gets stuck in bootloop.

I've had my Note for around a month now, and I'm having an issue where the phone will shut itself down at a random time.
If you try to turn the phone on, it'll get stuck on the Galaxy Note N7000 splashscreen. Occasionally if I go into recovery
and select Reboot Phone Now it'll boot properly, but very rarely does it work. I've also tried leaving it on the splashscreen
and coming back an hour later and it will be fine again. It happened twice yesterday and once today.
If I can't get it to boot, the only thing I can do is restore a CWM backup, but doing that multiple times a day is very frustrating.
I'm running a stock XXLSA deodexed and rooted ROM. I've also tried a stock XXLSA non-deodexed and unrooted ROM with the
same issue. The phone was working fine on ICS 4.0.4, but I really need the use of MultiWindow so downgrading is not an option.
I'm using Philz Kernel 3.99.
Any ideas?

That's a common issue with the JB leaks. You have the following options:
- Do a nand backup, do a full wipe, format cache, system and preload, restore your nand backup (might work)
- Do a full wipe, format cache, system and preload, reflash the rom (works always)
Even if you manage to fix it, be prepared that the problem will occur again. For me it was always the same, I flashed the rom, it worked for several days, suddenly it got stuck at the boot logo, I fixed it, after several days the bootloop reoccured.... Eventually I decided to flash a stock ICS rom in order the get a stable device.

galaxy note 4 (sm-n910t) caught in boot loop and won't enter to recovery.pls help

my galaxy note 4 (sm-n910t) caught in bootloop . i dont know what caused it. the phone simply restarts upto first bootscreen, ie upto 'samsung galaxy note 4' and then vibrates and then restarts.this process continues upto battery is down or i pull out battery.the phone is not entering to recovery mode but enters to download mode.
i have tried installing stock rom from sammobiles but it won't help.i have also installed custom recovery twrp but that also won't help to enter to recovery mode,
i am trapped pls help..
You didn't mention how you tried to install the stock ROM . Did you use Odin?
I just fixed mine with the same issue. I was able to boot into recovery and download mode but mostly download mode without bootloop when I had the usb cable plugged in. I used ADB when I could to boot into download mode, but the buttons worked too. Trying to restart the phone only lopped after the Google screen.
I followed several guides here to flash stock with Odin and wipe cache etc but none solved my boot loop issue. almost gave up but there is a video on You Tube that said the battery warping in the cause of the boot loop. The battery, after/during quick charge, may heat up and change shape causing the issue. Today I installed my new battery purchased on amazon and no more issues.
Now I am on stock and have to find a good rom.
If you do decide to flash back to stock there are a lot of good guides. You may find yourself stuck on the T-mobile screen for 15 minutes when booting for the first time but that is ok. If you still boot loop after installing stock and wiping cache I would try the battery.

hi OP,
did you find any solution to your problem?
Hello all. I'm also pasting this in the T-mobile thread in case it can be of benefit to someone. This is advice to use as a very last resort if you are experiencing the recovery bootloop issue AND you don't have the emmc failure bug. I had the recovery reboot, sudden shutdown with no warning, etc. issue for the past two weeks. I tried everything on Google and Youtube to fix my problem with no success. I flashed multiple stock ROMS and recovery tars (stock and TWRP) via ODIN, but nothing worked. Oddly enough, I never received the emmc error that I have read about. Also, in the few times that my phone booted normally, I even loaded the Wakelock Power Manager app, set it to partial wakelock and my phone STILL continued to bootloop. As a last resort, I bought a new battery, but the reboot problems continued in Android 4.4.4 Kitkat, 6.0 Marshmallow, 7.1 Nougat and 8.1 Oreo ROMS. Well, here is what finally helped me to get my phone back operational. I had a backup ROM from a previous install and a TWRP flashable version of the same ROM on my SD card (in case the phone did not stay on for the full restore). I put the phone into a ziplock bag into a freezer for about 20 min. (thankfully this time TWRP stayed on long enough for me to do the following):
1) copy all the files I wanted to save from internal storage to a computer.
2) performed a full wipe (Dalvic, Cache, System, etc. Like when flashing a ROM, but this time also internal storage. Note: Please do not wipe both internal and SD card, as you may have a difficult time trying to load the ROM file back on the sd card (assuming you don't have a card reader).
3) After wiping, I was able to restore my stock ROM backup (or you can just flash the stock ROM).
I can't be 100% sure, but I think my wiping internal and then flashing the stock ROM finally did the trick. Since this morning, the phone has been pretty much back to as it was before. In either case, I'm sharing this with the hope that it helps someone else.
