Re..

p.s: just a reminder the problem is that when it reads the ph11img.zip file, i doesnt ask for update!
Does not ask to UPDATE ?
Hey guys, I have HTC Salsa with following details:
ICON_G PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.03.0000
MICROP-0558
Area:HTC Asia India
When i put the BigBearEVO's PH11IMG.zip file (mediafire.com/download.php?uma19r3pysr93dr) any other PH11IMG.zip file from forums, it is just "CHECKING" the file and NOT ASKING to update it as written in many S-OFF Tutorials ?
Can any one tell me whats the problem ? Does it need HBOOT update ? Will i have to go through the process of UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER before S-OFFing my phone ?
Please reply ASAP.
Thanks.

try going to htcdev and directly updating that way...seems some users can, the pm11img.zip was mainly directed at s-off users, s-on users may just benifit from a direct update...which is easier

to s-off, which isn't recommended, u need the xtc clip at a cost....
to root, you need only unlock your bootloader...plenty of threads showing how and where.....simple steps and its unlocked in no time...please note, backup everything u can before doing this..as it wipes your phone off..
BigBear, could you pleaassee throw some light on my thread regarding reverting back to stock rom in the salsa general section!!

BlackRose has an uninstall option and will replace it's S-OFF HBOOT version with the stock HTC HBOOT 1.13. Depending on which ROM you have installed, this may leave you with a phone that will not boot normally, so the next step after you uninstall BlackRose is to flash a RUU to return to stock.
For HBOOT 1.13, your best bet would be the WWE 2.30.405.1 RUU.

Sounds like you need to visit the BlackRose thread in the Development section and start reading and learning.

No because the BlackRose will prevent the RUU from overwriting it's S-OFF HBOOT and replacing it with the stock HBOOT.
With both AlphaRevX/Revolutionary and BlackRose you need to 'prepare' the S-OFF HBOOT so that a RUU can overwrite and replace it with the stock HBOOT.

[Q] HTC J One S-OFF with Rumrunner

Hi there, sorry for my first post being so needy...
I am trying to root my HTC J One and it seems that I first need to S-OFF the device. I'm trying to use Rumrunner as my bootloader is at 1.54 unfortunately...but I get the error "looks like device is not rooted AND lacks an unsecure kernel. su or FU!!"
I'm using the HTC Universal version of rumrunner as there doesn't seem to be a device specific version for the HTC J One.
I've uninstalled HTC Sync Manager and uninstalled my virus scanning software and turned off my firewall. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go next? Thank you for your help!

Firstly, only the Verizon HTC One needs to be S-OFF'ed prior to root. All other models need to be bootloader unlocked and rooted to get S-OFF.

Thanks for your reply! So do I need to unlock the bootloader prior to rooting the device?

Hello,
I have unlocked the bootloadres using Revone... otherwise you may try Rumnummer.

It seems as mentioned here that Revone / Rumrunner are needed to unlock the bootloader, but neither seem to be working (revone doesn't work as my bootloader is version 1.54, I did try it anyway though...and rumrunner gives me the error mentioned above...
Or is all of this unnecessary to root it? I kind of hope it is!
I'm sorry to bump...does anyone have any suggestions?

If you want to get back s-on then you shouldn't do it on 7.19.401.2. You will need to remove the tampered and unlocked/relocked flags from the bootloader, flash the 1.28.401.7 ruu and then you can turn back s-on. Everything explained in nkk71's guide if you need more info.
Sorry about the late reply alray and thanks for the link I ended up just soft bricking my device and they sorted it out for me when it was sent away
