You just need to bring up cmd prompt and navigate to the folder where you extracted the zip and run the command from there.

Haven't tried a nandroid yet. Will try it shortly though.
See my post above. You don't need anything with adb. Open cmd prompt and navigate to the folder where you extracted the zip and run the command from there.

yeah, works fine through command prompt... in my desire to get CWM and Nandroid, I didn't realize that the instructions were less than clear on that step... should have remembered.
To Confirm... Nandroid works... though it did hang for a bit, it did finally wake up and complete.

When you extracted it puts it in a folder called fastboot or something like that. I just took all of the files out of that folder and put them in the main folder I was using or you can just navigate to that specific folder. I hope that made sense. I'm fairly certain that is your problem.

Unable to flash root_recovery.img
I was able to root my HTC Raider using the HTC Super tool. However, I am unable to flash the root_recovery.img in order to have CWM. Every time I try to flash it, I get the following error"

With S-ON, you can only use the fake flash by renaming the .zip to update.zip and "flash" it from the stock recovery to launch CWM...

Yes, I've S-OFF.
Turn ON my device on Fastboot, it's connected to computer obviously!
If I run:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-legend.img
The console says that "fastboot" isn't a valid command.
If I am in Android SDK directory and run:
Code:
./adb devices
The console don't found any device.
Where is the problem?? Is this usable on Ubuntu? I'm use it.
Regards and sorry my bad English
See http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/device.html
"If you're developing on Ubuntu Linux, you need to add a udev rules file that contains a USB configuration for each type of device you want to use for development. In the rules file, each device manufacturer is identified by a unique vendor ID, as specified by the ATTR{idVendor} property. For a list of vendor IDs, see USB Vendor IDs, below. To set up device detection on Ubuntu Linux:"

If you're on Windows, have you that in the recovery installation folder?:
AdbWinApi.dll, adb.exe, fastboot.exe and recovery-X.img
Good call, copy paste error
Also if you don't have the fastboot command, you'll need to download the "Android SDK Platform Tools" (under "Tools") from the SDK manager (how did you get adb working though without the platform tools?!)
Should be under the same directory...
Just rename the zip to pc49img.zip making sure you DONT name it pc49img.zip.zip place it on the root of your sdcard (ie.not in any folders) boot your phone into hboot via volume down and power whilst phone is off and when prompted press volume up to update then reboot into recovery to see your new cwm. SIMPLES.

Then, run this command:

How do I do this if the OS itself is crashed and I get a white screen and HTC logo???
The Ultimate guide on how to do everything for noobs
Anyone taking these steps please be aware, you do this as your own choice/Risk....If you have anything important on your phone, back it up right now before you proceed....as everything will be wiped by the bootloader unlock!
Bootloader unlock.
Download this >http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?uma19r3pysr93dr
Unzip into a new folder on your c: called Android (C:/Android)
Plug your Phone into Computer/PC and select charge only.
Follow the guide precisely on HTC
1. Go to HTCDEV website: http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
2. Click on "Begin Unlock Bootloader" (create a user if you don't have one)
3. follow the instructions step 1 through step 10 on htcdev.com
4. In step 10, when posting your token, make sure you remove the blanks preceding each line
5. After you receive your Unlock_code.bin in email, follow step 11.
6. Now your rezound should reboot and you have your bootloader unlocked.
so you have updated the HBOOT and unlock bootloader....
Good now for the next bit.
If by chance you cannot unlock via HTC Dev please tell me as i maybe able to help you on that.
I require knowing which RUU you have installed, this u will find out by using HTC Dev.
Using HBOOT 1.0.7 and updating should be easy and fast.
Installing CWM 5 (Recovery Menu)
Please also read my orther thread on recoverys...it hold same details with extras >http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791707
This is a program installed into the phone itself.
This allows you to do pretty much anything you want.
Main things are Backup and restore of your device.
Flashing of custom Roms
Here is the recovery file >http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=852074&d=1326296914
Save the recovery.img and flash_image in the root of your adb folder.(this means C:/Android)
Now using DOS CMD window
goto C:/Android
*hint, copy the txt in these windows into your DOS window and press enter....it saves time and spelling errors*
DOS txt
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
it should now reboot and show Fastboot USB mode
DOS txt
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
from the hboot menu, go to recovery.
now if above doesn't work and you cannot get into bootloader to flash the cwm. follow this
pull out battery
insert battery
hold volume down key and press power at same time
Hboot will appear
scroll down and select bootloader option, press power.
and your ready now in fastboot usb mode
Rooting
Please note, this method is old, current methods are simply just flash a new rom!
All roms come Pre Rooted with all apps required to run with root (Superuser)
For details in these check out the Android Development forum in our salsa section.
or go here>http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1043
Download this file >http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?pypn6v69o0vnvl9
(This is outdated somewhat and requires updating via Google Play)
place this file on the base of your sd card.
Now goto your new recovery menu.
use this cmd from DOS Windows
Code:
adb reboot recovery
it will reboot automatically
1-Select Install Zip from SDcard
2-Choose Zip from SDcard
3-Find Root.Zip on the SD card
4-Scroll upto Yes-Install Root.zip
it will now flash the root.zip
5-Go back
6-Reboot System Now
Now from here you will have done the following
Unlocked your bootloader
Flashed recovery system
Rooted your stock device.
if by any chance you make a mistake which is not very likely, but odd chance u do...redo the steps per section till you get it right.
WIKI

SuperUser?
Hi BBE,
Followed your tutorial and was successful at every step. But one thing that is bothering me (or maybe I messed up at some step) is that I still do not have the Superuser (Su) rights. I used "Root Check Basic" and it says I have Root access. But when I try to run "Link2sd" or "Titanium Backup" it says I do not have Superuser rights. Is this method supposed to give us Superuser rights? If yes then what should I do now? If no then how can I get Superuser rights for my HTC Salsa?
Thanks.
Zaeem

ok goto market, download, SuperSU looks like a large blue hashtag lol.
install that, update it etc, see if that runs, if you get successful updated binary, reboot the phone. u can run with both SU apps, but you would be better removing the old Su in favour of the new one...im gonna look around for a root.zip with new Super Su in there

I don't think USB can be mounted, you could use adb sideload instead if you completely wiped the internal storage but I'd wait till you boot the phone and then do it instead. Remember to make a nandroid backup you're safe to factory reset in recovery if that's what you meant, as that doesn't touch system or your internal sdcard.

Jokes, so in recovery press 'install zip from sideload' then plug your phone into your PC. Now put your rom zip (rename to rom.zip) in the same folder as your adb file, and put this folder on your desktop. Now use
Code:
cd Desktop
then
Code:

now use

and check your serial number appears.
Now use
Code:
abd sideload rom.zip
and it will transfer and install

Ok, no it doesn't but first we need to find out why adb isn't working :/
Grab the driver from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=963042&d=1332595157
Extract the drivers
Now go to Start menu and right click on my computer and then click manage.
Now go to device manager and there you should see your connected One listed as being without a driver.
Right click on that entry and select 'update driver'
Now tell it that you have the driver on local disk and then browse to the folder you extracted.
Update your driver.
Disconnect and reconnect the device and try ADBing again.
Should work.

I was changing rom according to instructions and accidentally I have deleted my rom.zip. Now I'm stuck in recovery with nothing to flash and no idea how to push rom.zip to phone memory. I have otg cable. Can anyone come up with a solution or direction to relevant topic ?

Easiest thing would be to put your ROM.zip on your usb and plug it into your phone before entering recovery. I'm not sure if Cwm classic supports otg but Cwm touch and twrp do

Apologies, I've just tried it myself in CWM Touch 6.0.3.1...
Go to Bootloader screen and plug in your cable
enter recovery
install zip from sdcard
choose zip from external sdcard
Works for me...
Sometimes if it doesn't mount I go to 'backup and restore' -> restore from external sdcard -> Go Back -> Go Back -> try it flashing from 'install zip from sdcard' again. (Although I have a nandroid backup on my usb so that may not work for you)

yeah...
put your rom.zip in your mini-sdk folder
put your phone to the bootloader screen -> select fastboot -> it should now say 'fastboot usb'
hold shift and right-click on your mini-sdk folder -> Open Command Window Here
command: fastboot devices
if your device shows, enter recovery
command: adb devices
if your device shows,
adb push name_of_your_rom.zip /sdcard be sure to put a space before /sdcard. be sure the 'name_of_your_rom' is named exactly the same as your rom.zip
After a while your rom should be on your sdcard, just flash it as normal.

Just did as you said. The tricky part is with opening command line in the specified folder, I would never have guess that you have to hold shift.
Now waiting for the file being moved to sdcard, after push command the _ is blinking as the file is being send right. File is sent XXX bytes in 222.sec
I tried to instal from the sdcard the recovery reboots itself when I press instal from sdcard

ok, can you select install zip from sideload or does it crash?
if you can, select it and command in cmd (from your mini-sdk folder)
adb sideload name_of_your_rom.zip
once its finished sideloading it should begin install on your phone automatically
If you can't do that, try re-flashing your recovery and try everything again.
fastboot flash recovery name_of_your_recovery.img
(in 'fastboot usb') (name_of_your_recovery.img should be in mini-sdk folder)

Just hold down volume down + power button until it reboots. You may have to do it under a bright light. Keep holding them until your fastboot/hboot screen appears.
Try re-flashing your recovery as I said above and try again - if that doesn't work then I'm afraid I'm out of ideas
What ROM are you trying to install??

read the instructions - realize that you need to flash with TWRP recovery not ClockWorkMod - flash TWRP 2.6.3.3 - enter recovery and wipe - push the ROM again - flash again.

oh no, well here goes, your going to need it, especially as your in a bootloop.
so download and install this, everything including the drivers, the file must be run as administrator: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
then download this img file and put it in the same folder as fastboot and adb that you just installed: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
open a command windows (CMD window) in that same folder, to do this, hold down control & shift & right mouse click on any white area in that folder and select open command window here.
with your phone plugged into the computer and in fastboot USB mode type the following command one at a time
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
let me know when that's done

that was quick, enter recovery, and select wipe, swipe to factory reset then I always go into advanced wipe too and select everything except internal storage.
once done, go back to the main screen of recovery, main screen only, no sub menu's.
download the rom again and put in the same folder as adb and fastboot again.
then with your phone plugged in, rom in the folder, and a command window open type:
Code:
adb push (name-of-rom).zip /sdcard/
takes a while and will look unresponsive but the cmd window will let you know when its done.
once done, unplug your phone, and slect install, select the rom from the list and swipe to begin the install.

yeah, easiest way is once you've downloaded the rom, just change the file name to rom.zip then move it to the adb and fastboot folder, then adb push rom.zip /sdcard/

Hi Seanie,
I followed the instructions on this post, as I was having a similar problem. I installed the Apolo7 v4.1 rom on my phone using CWM instead of TWRP and entered a boot loop. After following your instructions for installing ADB and flashing TWRP, when I try to enter recovery to perform a wipe it won't and goes back into a boot loop wherein it is perpetually trying to enter recovery. Any suggestions?
thanks!

Seanie, I found your advice very useful. Thanks for taking the time to walk us noobs through. In my case it didn't work at first but after I found the right version of TWRP for my HTC One it worked fine. Thanks!
