You can't get s-off yet. Just unlocked bootloader.

-Flashing different radios with different roms. (ie: there wouldn't have to be device specific roms and people wouldn't need certain hboots )
-Flashing a new bootsplash.
It'd be pretty nice to have S-off if I do say so myself.

S-off is indeed useful. I took it for granted on my old Incredible. I miss it.

The Amaze seems to have just been successfully s-off'ed so hopefully some smart devs can work some magic.

Its coming!
Looks like another dev (or a few of them working together?) is working hard on s-off for the raider - just saw a post over in vivid development forum with some screenshots of before and after a successful s-off on the vivid. It says "coming soon....." on the op!

OK, if you can't take a hint and use the search facility of this forum, the least you can do is Google 'XTC Clip'. You should be able to do that.
if he cannot use the search button or google, I don't think he would even know how to use an xtc clip if he even had one.
the safest thing for him is to stay S-ON I think

You can flash HTC signed ROMs using the standard bootloader as long as the ROM you are flashing has the same or large version number.
The GoldCard method should set you S-OFF.
But it's a bit complicated...
It won't work as his software version is too recent.

Forgot he is still S-ON, i was talking about how to Root 2.30.405.1.
HTC & Bootloaders
You may want to review this link.
http://www.facebook.com/notes/htc/update-on-bootloaders/10150305151453084
It may satisfy your needs. Or maybe not.
Nah that doesn't help unfortunately, htc are only unlocking the boot-loaders of the evo 3d and sensation. You used to be able to flash roms with S-ON I did it when I had my desire.
How about Revolutionary?
It seems to work with the Sensation on android 2.3.3, so why not with the Incredible S?
I'm in the same situation right now, android 2.3.3 stock rom on Incredible S with s-on and no way to go s-off software-wise.
This does not work either as the temp root methods revolutionary used to S-OFF the device have been patched in the 2.30.405.1 update.

U can unlock the bootloader via the htcdev.com site.

Cruising through but s-off means security off. You can write to certain partitions like the radio ect which you can't do with HTC unlock

...I don't care how you got it - you have S-OFF on your phone!
**begins to drool**
..I wish I was a dev. Good luck to all those who are about to work on this - all the guys like me are looking forward to playing with the spoils of your labors..lol. If only I knew linux, I'd be glad to help.
So, here's some information that I've gathered from jcase so far about your phone...
It would appear that you have Radio S-OFF, which is great news for you and you only right now.
Basically, it means that you have full access to your /system partition and almost everything else without using the HTCDev unlock tool. Any root you attempt will stick just fine.
Some background information, as I understand it to be:
HBOOT gets it's s-on or s-off status by querying the radio and asking for the "secuflag" (might be "secflag"-- just going off the top of my memory). Once HBOOT receives it's answer, it proceeds to either lock or leave unlocked certain partitions.
All this is to say that the only thing different between your phone and say, mine, is the radio config partition where "secuflag" is stored. The problem lies in the fact that on our devices, we can't access the radio config partition (as far as I know) to manually set that flag.
However, it is possible that just having a copy of your radio config partition could lead to some interesting discoveries in regards to where the flag is and what value it should be set to if we wish to try it on our phones.
Either way, it'd be great if you could stop by #htc-holiday and ping me (IOMonster) or IanWizard on IRC. What you have could potentially be a huge help to us-- or just a special bonus for you and you alone
Thanks!
I just pray this leads to a full s-off method. I don't wanna root my Vivid until s-off is achieved. Too used to flashing with s-off from my Inspire.

you cant thats why you need S-OFF without the only way is with fastboot commands.
I have a quick tool that can flash them for you but it does not use the GUI your talking about
S-OFF allows access to ALL parts of the device memory.
Can you attempt to achieve s-off, it seems to be your main concern

And if you're thinking you can use the developer ICS that was put out there, no amount of kernels we have for the Vivid are going to make it boot.

How to S-Off after ICS update

Hey guys, my HTC Incredible S today gets an ICS OTA update. I have updated it. The version has become 4.0.4.
I have never S-Off or Root my device at all. My Hboot 2.02 and locked. Now I want to root my device.
Can anyone tell me how many ways I can S-Off my device? Are there any other ways beside HTCDev Unlock?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys soon.

Thanks for your reply. I have read through your post. However, I saw the topic is for 1.16 and 2.0. That's why I feel reluctant whether my hboot is 2.02 which is higher than the topic you posted.
So you mean I can do it by your instructions?

Well since you have upgraded your HBOOT to 2.02.0002, the HTCDEV unlock method is your only choice right now. The tacoroot exploit that is used with the downgrade script does not work with HBOOT 2.02.0002.
Can you tell me how to get s-off after unlocking by HTCdev? As I know, it just unlock the device, cut the security is still on.

With the HTCDEV option you will be able to install custom recovery and then root the current ROM by installing su-3.1.3.zip, but you will not gain S-OFF.
Technically there is a difference, but people tend to use the terms interchangably.
Thank you for your suggestions.

i don't think it is for the One
in time you will probably get it, but quicker and like the One S you'll get radio installers like Tecardo's and MrHydes that require no s-off. Some put the radio into System partition a way to bypass not having s-off
One S has no s-off but with these tools from the devs, no problem
