A few questions first:
What ROM did he try to flash?
Did he try to flash it through Clockwork Recovery or ROM Manager?
When you try to turn the phone on, does the backlight come on the screen or anything? Or does it just sit there without even making an attempt to turn on?
Flashing the wrong ROM would not hard brick your phone. The install of the ROM would simply fail. If anything, it sounds like your friend tried to flash a ROM and the battery either died or was taken out during flashing. Please post back so we can all try to help.
He is talking about me
I flashed it through CWM and went to restart and now the phone is dead
No lights nothing no vibrate it simply will not turn on
flashed it with
O2X FLAIR GB v4 REVOLUTION FINAL (based on LG v20L)
for optimus
From what I am thinking The power button is no longer assigned?
I am guessing

So the ROM flashed but when you went to reboot, that's when the phone froze up?
Are you 100% sure there was enough battery life when you flashed it? You really might have hard-bricked it. I figured the ROM would just simply fail installing because that's usually what happens.

I think it might be something with the splash screen.

Were you doing this through ROM Manager or just flashing through Recovery?

I honestly don't know what to say. If the phone is completely unresponsive then it very well could be a hard-brick. The only thing you can do then is call Verizon, tell them that you had a software update for your Revolution and the phone shut off in the middle of the update and now will not come on at all. They'll probably send you a free one (hopefully). That's really about the only thing I can think of. Have you tried just plugging it in to see if it charges at all? Plug it in and see if either the screen will come on or you at least get the LED light to come on. If not then do what I said a second ago and call Verizon.
Yeah I get nothing, they are going to send me a new one. Thanks anyway.

Yeah I've been there, it sucks really bad. The reason why it happened other than the fact that the ROM is for a different phone, is because the ROM has a boot.img that is not compatible with the Revolution. So once you changed the boot.img the phone was no longer able to boot up. At least that's what I think about it.

hi
plz help me
my nexus one bricked!
what should i do?
First I gotta say, someone get a fire extinguisher cause girl you are on fire! (lol)
Anyways can you elaborate on how you "bricked" your phone? Can you get to the boot loader or recovery at all? What did you last do before you found out it was bricked?
It's very hard to brick them... hold the trackball and power on, and you should get the bootloader, if so, it's far from dead.

flash zip from sd!
Uh oh.
The only real way to brick an N1 is with a bad radio flash. The riskiest way to flash a radio is via recovery.
You can try pulling the battery, plugging it into a charger and re-inserting the battery.

Can't do everything, or can't do anything - because there is a difference...
Is there any signs of life from the phone at all (light/vibration)?
I'm asking because you said you flashed radio AND ROM (was it in that order?). If you managed to flash the ROM after the radio, then the radio probably isn't the problem...

Pretty sure it's bricked.
Send it back to HTC.
If they can't fix it, then they probably can't tell how it got messed up either, so your warranty may be OK...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
The bright side, you still have limited warranty as everyone says until January =]. Been reading mixed reviews of getting a replacement or fixed with HTC.
Probably bricked it, but idk HOW it got bricked, I rooted it following the Tmo version root on here, and then I installed MIUI via clockwork recov, and it installed. Now it isn't turning on....I just got it today, and I really don't want to go back to T-Mobile and look like a psycho coming in everytime. I mean I do got insurance on it, so if that's the last resort, then so be it. But for now, any ideas???

I have same problem. Have you had a chance to try different battery
I have the same problem.Have you had any luck?
I bought the international version from Amazon and got it today. I turned it on and it worked fine, about 4 minutes in to me going through the setup screen, the screen went all pixelated with a white bar through the screen. I pulled the battery and restarted, then an update popped up, I then went ahead and installed it. It completed, booted up and I signed into evertthing. About 10 minutes later it froze, so I pulled the battery again, and went to restart and now it just boot loops.
Is the device rooted? If so, you could try installing a custom rom assuming doing so doesn't void your warranty.

Sounds dodgy. I wouldn't bother flashing custom Rom or rooting a device so clearly faulty. Return it and get a working unit.

I figured it was, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just some error that the phone gave before the recent update. I'll be returning it and maybe I'll get the AT&T version. Thanks a lot.

Hey guy's Im hoping you can help me.
Last night while browsing my phone froze, so i performed a battery pull and on putting it back in the phone refuses to boot.
If i plug thr charger in alone, the LED's blink orange/green
If i place a battery in the charging light turns on. I have two batteries so I tried them both. Still nothing.
I was able to boot into recovery and tried to clear the clash and do a full reset. upon reboot the phone stuck on the boot screen.
I tried a battery pull once again, and since that I have only been able to get the phone to boot once after numerous tries only to get 7 vibrations.
The power button still works, if i try turning it on while on charge the orange light goes out, but nothing.
Ive tried the battery trick while on the charger alone the green light goes on but again nothing, I've tried different chargers, I'm now at a loss.
While typing this IVe been able to get it to boot once again, but again i get 7 vibrations and nothing.
Any help would be appreciated, I have no phone, while my GNEX is being repaired under warranty
A noob question... you said that you do a full reset... Did you flash the rom again? (give more details.. rooted phone...hboot.. rom...)

full reset as in going into recovery and wiping everything, unfortunately, I have note been able to get back in since to try and reflash a new rom.
I'm currently running a stock hboot, with the last stable release of MIUI before MIUI4 cant remember the exact version number. The phone is rooted and locked.
Thanks for the swift response

Why don't you copy the miui zip onto your SD card, and flash it back from recovery? If you are running GB MIUI, the last version for that would be 2.3.30.

Agreed, I've preped my SDcard with a Passimg.zip. however I'm at a point where I cant get the phone to turn on constantly. since posting this morning. I've had no success - c'est la vie. I'm reluctantly thinking of moving on, however I really loved my N1 believe it or not it was much more reliable than my GNEX which is in under warranty repair for the 3rd time already!
Hey guys, I was running Maximum overdrive v1.0 and beastmode 56.8 kernel (no tweaks) when my phone starts freezing and rebooting. It would happen often and even at times It wouldn't boot completely I would have to remove the battery for It to boot. Then It started to get "kernel panic ulpoad mode" I odin flashed back to stock MM but same issues going on. Any ideas? Or its time for a new phone? Thank you

I was curious cause I never heard of that , and some people said a factory reset solved the problem . However a fresh Odin install is good. Did you wipe system as well as the normal wipes?

Yikes. I didn't even see a ton of info on the subject. I can't imagine there is anything left on the device to cause any issues. Hopefully someone with more knowledge about this sees this post. Note 7 release party Aug 2nd if it comes to that!
same issue i see alot of people with it, its the emmc i confirmed it beause yesterday while i was alseep my emmc decided to give up on life no recovery no download failed to read emmc, the problem is repairing it im not gonna take it to samsung as they will charge almost the price of a new phone i have found a chip for it but it says it has sm n910p/f firmware on it not sure if it would be an issue as i could reflash the tmobile firmware on it.
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bran...2630152207.html?spm=2114.40010708.4.13.nPWCQ2
any advice on the chip?
So, what was the final solution?
