CM7 Nightlies Start for the Optimus 3D - LG Thrill 4G

Here is the link:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/4883-cm7-nightlies-for-optimus3d-and-thrill/
Only problem, its built for the v21a GB baseband, so for now the Thrill does not have nightly releases.

Arcee will make one for the thrill. He ran out of time last night. It just has a few different changes from the p920.

[Q] Questions about LG 2x

Hi, can someone explain to me about baseband and RIL, I already have some idea but I need confirmations on some.
I updated my asian phone with LGP990AT-00-V20c-EUR-XX-AUG-02-2011+0_CP.fls as per instruction of this custom ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254359. The name itself suggest european, does europe and asia share the same exact bands for their phones?
Can this mess with my reception? Is there an asian v20c .fls and matching RIL out there that I should have flashed instead?
Unrelated questions: I went with this ROM(lg o2x gb stock mod by topogigi) because it's based on the leak LG GB roms and has minimal bugs and from my understanding is that CM7 based ROMs are very buggy? Like the radio and a2dp doesn't work and when I look at the CM7 bugs thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173229) I keep wondering why CM7 is so much more popular. Can someone give me an insight?
My LG 2x has about 100mb usable memory on fresh reboots, is this normal or is it limited to that ROM(lg o2x gb stock mod by topogigi)?
Thanks for any info. smile.gif
CM7 is popular because it's built from the ground up and contains many extra features. A2DP works fine FYI, but FM radio is currently a no-go.

Looking for a rom

I want to know the best rom for this phone I don't care about 3D features I just want a working phone

If you haven't traded it in yet, I would try out Cyanogenmod on the Thrill. See my post a few days ago to set it up:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431382
I want to use CM but I for one use my 3D so I am waiting for that

I imagine the Cyanogenmod team will be updating their distribution/ROM to include 3D since it was a prominent selling feature. Just check the nightly log:
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p925
I know it says this for Cyanogenmod
If you're currently using a stock rom or a custom rom that is not based on Cyanogenmod then you must make a factory reset/format data in Clockworkmod after installing the latest nightly or else you'll get stuck in a bootloop.
I thought I read somewhere cant find it now but I need GB bootloaders?Im running doomed right now so I can just flash this like any other rom and Ill be cool? Thanks
You don't. Cm7 is modified on the thrill to run on the froyo baseband. Flash it, wipe, works well.
I think that 3d is unlikely in cm7 as it relies heavily on lg's proprietary 3d framework, and cm7 is built from Google's clean source code. For some odd reason, it works in the camera, but nowhere else.

Heres what I meant
If you're currently using Froyo, then you need to flash the latest Baseband;
Use the "LG Updater tool" to update to the latest Stock version so you'll get the latest Baseband, re-root your phone and download Rom Manager from the market.
What is the latest baseband?
Well now using captvate glide

Ended up flashing Cm7 nightly late last night so far pretty sweet

[Q] what is the best version of rom CM7 now for now?

I have not followed to update rom for my device for a half year
So I don't know what is the best rom for Optimus 2X now
I am using CM7 and I feel like I like it, I get used to it.
So that's why I am looking for only CM7 rom.
However, if you have any other rom that you think it's better. Please suggest me, and please tell me why is it better.
Thank you.
this is my device information
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: 1035.21_20110405
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.41-vorkKernel
Mod version: CyanogenMod-7-06212011-NIGHTLY-Optimus2X
Any of them I need to change for a better performance, please tell me.
ps. I suffer the freeze problem sometimes. For now, I use it only for game and chat. When I play a game, I usually suffer that the game hangs, and popup "Force Close"
And sometimes phone automatically shut off.
I was bored, until I feel nothing about it...... (too often until I buy new phone to use as phone, and use 2X as a video game device)
Look for temasek's Kang rom in the Development forum. It's quite stable, has a great performance and battery life is good too.

You might also want to change your kernel. Vorkkernel is outdated, try either ETaNa Kernel or Ironkernel. You should be able to find them in the dev section.
yeah, I know that my rom and anything of that is really old because of I play lots of game and don't want anything to be erased. Also, that time the new rom update too fast. I was bored of changing rom every 3 days. So I stopped following all of these and keep using it.
And now, I think the time has come to modify everything.
Can you guys tell me the best version of everything for me to upgrade it.
e.g. Firmware (my 2x is still V10B)
Baseband
Kernel
and Rom
if you specify version for me, it would be much faster for me to find it
thank you
Allright,
Firmware: Either Android 2.3.X or 4.0 (your choice, however 4.0 is still in alpha phase, so not everything is working perfectly)
Baseband: Different for each and every phone. Do you have good signal and call quality right now? Then there is no need to change your baseband. Make sure to have a matching RIL file with your BB. Download one from the GetRIL app.
Rom: For Android 2.3.X (a.k.a Gingerbread) I would recommend temasek's latest CM7 KANG, or the latest CM7 nightlies, because they are the best and most recent. Temasek can't continue his CM7 work anymore unfortunately, but his Kangs are rock-solid. (Link in signature)
For Android 4.0 (a.k.a Ice Cream Sandwich) you can choose between the latest RC'S CM9 SelfKANG (link in signature) or Owain's CM9 KANG. (dev section) They're both pretty new and are quite stable despite being in an alpha stage. However, not everything is working perfectly, but I can tell you once everything works, CM9 will be much better than CM7.
Kernel: If you use CM7, you can choose between many kernels. The best ones I would recommend are the ETaNa Kernel (link in signature) and Ironkernel. These kernels are the most recent and have the best performance. Unfortunately the dev from Ironkernel, SetIron, left XDA so you cant follow the development over here.
For CM9 there is only one custom kernel available, which is also Ironkernel from SetIron. (link in signature) Although I must say that it's not fully stable because CM9 being in an alpha stage.
Hope this helped
For me, temasek's latest CM7 KANG is the best ROM so far.
However, seeing you havent change ur ROM for the last 6 months and familiar with nightlies, I would recommend you to update to the latest CM7 nightlies.
Just as simple as that. no need to think and you will find your O2X in its best performance.
I recommend Temasek's Kang. I started using is a few weeks ago and it's the best GB rom I've used. I'd still be on it, if I hadn't tried CM9.
thank you all you guys, I will try it soon.
temasek has stopped kanging? Now what?

Go for the CM7 nightlies or for CM9.

[Q] Is it safe to flash P920 ROMs on P925?

Hi everyone!
I successfully updated my P925g to GB v20c, rooted and got rid of all rogers crap.
I installed PimpMyCPU app to throttle CPU down when phone is not used.
Now I'm ready for next challenge - install custom ROM.
I read that CM-nighties are the same for P920 and P925. So what about other ROMs?
I used to have Optimus 2x (European) and played with lots of ROMs and basebands because I couldn't get 3G data in rural Ontario. At the end I found the problem - European model doesn't have WCDMA850 capabilities. So I had to get rid of the phone.
I would just dive and start playing around. But I read some guys were softbriking their phones
From Optimus 2x I know there are different RILs for different parts of the world. What about Thrill (aka 925g)? Should I worry about it?
And what about baseband? Does it come separately from ROM (like in o2x) or it will be reflashed with every ROM?
Thanks in advance!
The CM7 rom's are different for the p920 and p925. More on that on a sec.
AFAIK there is no way to flash baseband separate from rom.
Of note: the p925 and p920 use identical hardware so the key difference is in radio and partitions. Ergo if you'd flashed v21a (which is for the p920) on your thrill, you'd use the p920 CM7 rom, but since you flashed the v20c thrill one you'll need the p925 CM7.

Will we get official JB? :)

Hello guys
Is there any rumor that we will ge JB official from LG
A lot of people will say for me we have unofficial ones suck as cm10.1 and others but in fact i tried them they are not so stable i downloaded v30b and according to my usage it's the best app can manage our OB
Fot that I'm asking this question
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
Not happening. Phone is too old and not popular enough for LG to bother supporting to that extent.
They said for a long time that ICS was coming to the OB, but that never happened where I live (Canada).
I've tried many ROM's from CM10, 10.1, Mackay, Marvell v11 (ICS), Zeus 7.06 and CiCi v3. IMO the OB runs best with a GB based ROM (like Zeus or CiCi). Very little to no bugs and phone runs much faster/smoother.

News to me. If LG/Koodo released the ICS update for where I live, then it was very recent (last few months).
My wife has the same phone, still stock/unrooted. I'll check on her's to see if the update is available.
