[Q] Confused rooted V7 Rom to GingerVolt - LG Revolution

I have been reading the forum but am a basic noob and am confused. Basically I have a used Revo that already has ZV7 on it that I rooted, everything fine there. The question is can I install GingerVolt 1.3 on here without backing down to a stock rom. I know I have to delete data & cache just want to make sure that if I install GingerVolt on top of the current Rom I don't brick the phone.
Thanks

If you have not put gingervolt on yet you are on the stock V7 gingerbread. All you need to do is get gingervolt on the sd card make a backup in cwm then wipe data, cache, and dalvik flash the rom then wipe cache and dalvik and reboot. All you need to do is read the gingervolt thread all answers to flash are in there.
GINGERVOLTED!

Thanks
Thanks Indyred99, that is basically what I did. I had a Droid Inc before this and I was romming it on a regular basis but some of the post on here confused me a little with the wording and I wanted to make sure I did it correct.
Gave you a Big THANKS . I am now GINGERVOLTED and customizing it now....
One last question what is a good safe Kernal to put on

There is only the one kernel. Blitzkreig.
GINGERVOLTED!

THANKS Again;
I will look that up tonight when I get home.

[Q] Ok guys I am stuck..

Quick run down:
Pretty new at all this stuff, flashed my first Custom ROM on Friday (sc 2.4non voodoo), then quickly upgraded to Sc 2.6 Voodoo. From that point I flashed my first Theme (VA Green), really like it but wanted to dab in some other ones just to get a feel. At that point I flashed right over the VA Green with the Black and White Super Light Theme. Everything seemed to have worked fine, but I realized it was a mixture of the two themes and that wasn't what I was going for (being the noob I am I thought the new theme would just 'over write' the existing theme). SO I decided it would be a good idea if I restored back to my Frankenclean 2.6 vd that I had backed up (no theme).
After doing this I downloaded and flashed the newest version of Honeycomb. It booted, but as soon as I unlock my screen; boom FC loops to no avail. I, then restored my Frankenclean 2.6 voodoo (no theme) and everything was cool. I thought it was just the Honeycomb theme, so I tried simply restoring my VA Green theme that I had backed up and this time I got FC loop, into boot loop.
So essentially the only thing I can run is my non-themed Franken 2.6 voodoo. I have tried to trouble shoot as much as possible and truly cannot figure out where I steered wrong. -- I did go into CwR---> Mount/Storage at one point and MAY have changed a thing or two, so if anyone knows what that screen should read that would be VERY helpful (as far as what is mounted/unmounted etc etc).
Lastly, (since I didn't make it very clear earlier) I did do a factory data wipe/cache wipe and davlik wipe before proceeding from one step to the next. I also do have plenty of personal data storage available (someone had told me that could be the issue).
I am close to just flashing over to a completely different ROM and starting over, if anyone has ANY clue on how to possibly fix this I would appreciate it much more than you know.
Big thanks in advance!

Personally, I would factory reset and start at square one with flashing a stock rom in odin, stock kernel, root, then install SC2.6 + patch, kernel, then VA Green. Search the development forum for the stock files.
Sorry bout that fellas, mod feel free to move.
Ok, I guess back to square one it is. Thanks guys
EDIT: Since phone is rooted, if I flash an all in 1 file (that includes root) will that cause any problems?

Nothing will happen, make sure you disable voodoo before you odin back to stock.

Will do that right now, thanks alot man.
Again, sorry for the noobish issues; and more importantly misplacement of the thread.
You CAN flash themes over other themes, they do overwrite eachother, but you need to wipe data in between or they can mix the two themes together like that.

Forgive my ignorance, but when you say data, you are referring to factory restet/data wipe right?
Then from that point would I reboot from my restored frankenclean 2.6voodoo, or just run the zip after the data wipe?
Thanks again

I dont think you should be "restoring" the 2.6v with rom manager (thats what it sounds like to me from your posts). I would red cwm install from zip after wiped cache and dalvik cache. Boot up your 2.6v and restore apps and settings only, not restore your rom backup. Then go back to red cwm, wipe cache and dalvik and install your theme zip. Basically the theme only overwrites specific apks that the dev picked. Hope this helps get you going in the right direction.

Missing Sms!

i first of all , i have an alltel. 3 months ago i was running CM7 i had no problems with the rom! i decided to get back to a sense Rom. i found Wildheroc 2.1 i flashed it. i notice i kept missing sms! and didn't detect my carrier! so i flashed back to CM7 (the same one) and i started to miss sms with that Rom too? then i found the new sense Rom from yesterday i flashed it last night, same results. i think somehow i messed up my phone from flashing back and forth! can anyone help me?
Try flashing back to stock using the HTC RUU. see if you still miss texts. If not, then go back to CM7 or whatever rom you want with Z4root.
try doing a full wipe and full format( wipe data, cashe and dalvic, mounts and storage, format boot, cashe, system and data you know the routine) do a full wipe again, yes do it again then reflash your rom, you should be ok after that.
i do know theres been alot of issues with the wildheroc's mms and sms. BTW, What kernel are you running ??? Just curious

[Q] Please don't ban me or yell at me! Problem with root on galaxy s I9000 2.3.5

Hi all.
Really sorry cos I'm sure the answer's around here somewhere, but not sure where to look.
Problem is, I had my 2.3.5 rooted and all was ok. I then had a problem a while back with Titanium (paid) backup that said that I wasn't rooted.
I've tried re-rooting and that didn't work, so now I've done a factory reset, cleared the dalvik cache.
CWM is still installed but nothing works on there. Can't install busybox.
Just want to take it all back to fresh and root the phone with the fastest ROM possible.
Like I say, I've looked all over here and various forums but can't find an answer to my specific problem(s).
PLEASE HELP!
Thanks

use this link to get a JVU based rom on your SGS.. it'll be rooted with CWM recovery and stuff.. after that you can choose to flash any rom on your SGS.. just follow the instructions in the op of the rom you choose..
Thanks Ishangoyal..
Just to reiterate, I can just install this on top of the phone as it is not and it'll work?
I would highly recommend this tutorial instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379650
It allows you to upgrade to ICS.
You're a diamond - it's done! saved my phone from being stamped on! ;-)
download super user from market.

[Q] gingervolt 2.0 problems with sim

im running version 2.3.6 or v8 i did the root and upgrade from v7 reinstalled cwm and everything went great now im trying to install gingervolt 2.0 this is my first custom rom flash and i hope im missing something small but everything installs it asks for my language then it gives me a error for the sim card not installed i did wipe all data before installing. any help would be greatly appreciated so i don't have to miss out on all the fun. i know the sim is good if i reflash back to the stock rooted rom it works fine.
On V8 you need to flash broken out 1.1, not gingervolt. Gingervolt was for v7.
thanks i wasnt fast enough to get rid of this i just had to take a break from my reading and come back to it and i realized my stupid mistake thanks again

[Q] CWM Restores a perfect restore?

I was wondering how perfect of a restore a CWM restore is.
I was running a custom GB ROM (rocket rom to be exact) and it was running flawlessly. I then decided I might try this new CM9 ICS ROM.
So to be sure about the CM9 install, I figure I'd install from a stock GB Rom. So I first did a CWM backup of my current rocket rom and then I restored an older stock (rooted) ROM. It seemed to work fine. Then.... after reading about the (few) issues wit this new CM9 rom I decided I'd wait a bit longer until a few more of the quirks are worked out.
So I then restored back my Rocket rom backup and even doing the flash cache and davik cache also. But now I notice my once working Rocket ROM is experiencing a lot of SODs.
So now I'm wondering how perfect my restore was. I really don't have a lot of apps or wireless networks and can easily restore my contact list. For that reason, do you think it'll help if I do a factory reset wipe and then reinstall everytyhing....or even go so far as reinstall rocket rom and then reinstall everything else manually without any restores...would that be really the best clean install....or would any of this not make a difference at all and wiping/reinstall a toatl waste of time and my prob is actuaully something else....
Thanks
I could do with knowing the answer to these questions too.
It would be good to get a detailed idiots guide to CWM, do's and don't's etc.
Well a clean install will surely get you rid of the SODs. There is some app and its data that is conflicting with the system and crashes the whole phone. So if you are ready to clean install everything that will fix everything

sleep of death, its the device not waking up properly from sleep
Pus it doesnt include efs, so its not complete backup. Handy if yu stay n same rom version, but thats likely not.
Squicky clean install is always best. Even only app and data recovering thought titanium can mess things up. Make it laggy and nonfunctional etc, Blegh
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
1. Install abyssnote42
2. Factory wipe, cache, dalvik
3. Restore your rocketrom backup
That's what i do with my rocketrom v23 backup
Zapped through server hops to XDA forums
its not perfect but its the best so far
all i can say is that cwm is the best and simple thing for me so far and if u get trouble some times while trying to shift from CM9 to normal ics or from gb to ics all I suggest is use redpill recovery from abbysnote

Yeah, mine does that from the clock on Dragon ICS 2.4 when charging it didn't use to, started since I started Dual Booting. 2.5 is out in the next hour or so according to the Dev page. Hope it fixes an otherwise awesome ROM.. Otherwise it's back to single booting and possibly on to Omega 12 until CheckROM is released..
