yap..best and stable..battery issue also fixed..
think we should not call it beta anymore..
where are the 2.1 ROMs? Telus Lite has definitely the performance to keep up with FroYo!

My thread for 2.2 mod rom only! Sorry!
vote for cronos 1.6
....................
Just wait ...
the MIUI Rom will become the best rom for the MS.
And once the official froyo for Milestone starts rolling this thread will become obsolete because new ROMs will emerge to take advantage of the new kernel.
Here's to hoping MIUI would come to the Milestone2 rapidly!
Eh I have not tried CM6 yet but I think Froyomod by luca is pretty darn good.
waiting for Miui to be more stable though

I know, but that's discrimination of the good ol' ROMS
kabaldan's work is the most impressive! Not to say other ROMs are no good but CM6 has everything working good in average with few bugs.
I might change my point of view if I decide to flash the new version of MIUI 26.11.10 though =)
CM6 (rock) , thanks kabaldan !!!
CM6 all the way...
Keep up the good work kabaldan!
CM6 is the best!
As kabaldan fixed the issue "Touchscreen not responsive or chaotic" for Kernel 2.2, vote goes to CM6.
I kinda like CM6 and MIUI...
Cm6 - Since its very very refined...
MIUI - Looks pretty good...might be my permanent ROM in a few months after major bugs are ironed out.
Well every stable 2.2 ROM is based on CM anyway, or it is Cronos(which also has a lot from CM again )
I prefer FroyoMOD, he has nice under-the-hood changes comparing to CM and is based on CM provided AOSP.
Second pure CM.
Third Cronos, also the great stuff from CM included, but also again as FroyoMOD alot of customazation.
Than HONO has only minimal changes to CM base, so basicly it is CM.
Than there is MIUI, which i havent tried yet, i think they base their mod on GOT 2.2.1 beta leak. Which is bad so i don't try it... I rather w8 for luca to add some great things from MIUI into his stable FroyoMOD Or for MIUI team to make the ROM more stable.
FroyoMod by Luca!

i went for nadalbak's CM6.
but still my problem with milestone's RAM is not solved.who knows which rom has the best RAM management.i keep deleting widgets from my homescreen but i still have aloy of app crashes on backgrounds and services
I just tried the MIUI from 26.11.. gotta say it looks promising but there's no comparison to nadalbak's ROM based on CM6 yet. Since his last built, I can harldy say if there will be a better ROM that could possibly exploit more of the Milestone's potential.
Vote for CM6:
-Long battery life
-Best performance
(ae tinhte đông thế )
My vote goes too for kabaldan's CM6 port. Fine work (hats down)!

I vote for this.
but if you don't use any video recording, CM9-Kang by owain already can be used for daily.
it's fast & stable enough if using default config.
I'm pretty happy with what I have in my sig.
However, I would test drive the phone for a couple of weeks if I were you. There have been users reporting very bad battery life that returned the phone and got a much better one.
So personally I would test-drive every functionality of the phone: 3G, wi-fi, bluetooth, GPS, etc and make sure everything is working fine before going for "warranty voiding activities"

Thats also what i'm using right now, also with ironkrnL (80 uv-log-su-rld), Chainfire3D and my own sd-fix. But in cause of the missing hw acc, i posted the cm7 variant
+1 for cm7 kang by temasek (with stock kernel).
I dont see anyone talking about one of the best ROMs with all custom like features with excellent smoothness and best performance....Django ROM with Stefan's or Spica's Kernel....it virtually flies...

You have to change the filename before flashing, i recommend to NOT use "jrnl"!
And never flash it with touch-cwm, it would kill your system/data partitions.

I guess question was about fastest and most stable ROM, not about "stable and fast enough". ICS on P990 is highly unstable for now. I'm using ICS for daily use and i don't complain, but there's always something that isn't working as it suppouse to. So at this moment CM7 isn't only more stable then ICS, it's faster too. Android 4.0 doeasn't even have hw acceleration yet.

Agreed, at this moment CM7 is much more stable and also faster, i tried CM9 but some apps didn't work and sometimes the phone was getting slow all of the sudden not to mention the browser was always crashing, im using CM7 now and its so fast and stable
You can use CM7 and see it flying, but without some of the phone features, like video call (I'm not talking about Skype or viber, just the native one), smart share, divx, hdmi video resize... Or you can try one of stock roms with the great kernels from here and have a full phone.

Thanks for all the replies. Will try out soon. Also, I have noticed that the battery life for the optimus 2x is so bad! With stock froyo last night, after just about 2hrs of some wifi and games, the battery has already gone down to 15%!!! That's how bad it is!
Is this normal? Should I return the phone to the store?
Also, will the gingerbread update and/or custom rom flashing bring about better life for the battery?

DjangoManouche 1.1 is highly recommended with V20q baseband and HP SR3R2 Kernel. After trying out many stock variants, Modaco ROMS, Thanatos and CM ROMS, I finally settled on this one as it has resolved all the issues I had with the phone and gives good battery and network performance.

guestekrnL Platin Hybrid v1.0
Have you ever asked yourself, why the f*ck it is neccesary that we poor stock users have to use an old outdated linux kernel based on a much older kernel version than an up-to-date CM7 kernel? Well, we don't have to any longer
Stock v20Q kernel is based on linux v2.6.32.9
This kernel is based on linux v2.6.32.55
This is a difference of 46 revisions.
Specials:
First O2X Stock kernel completely based on latest CM7 kernel
Linux base thus is 2.6.32.55 instead of 2.6.32.9 like all other stock kernels
All features have been ported correctly, vibration, brightness setting, auto backlight, led buttons, WIFI tethering, USB tethering, GPS, USB Storage, everything is working
All features known from normal guestekrnL including the GuesteOC app are included and useable
Hybrid parts are taken from both v10E kernel and v20Q kernel
ultrasmooth
A CM7 kernel has never before been successfully ported to 100% stock P990/O2X compatibility.
I might even port other CM7 kernels like VorkKernel to stock in future.
Enjoy the first release.
And attention: Of course it is possible, that the kernel is instable or something does not work. So please report how it works for you.

First impression: Very smooth and seems stable, there are just a few little lags in scrolling and reaction time of softkeys.

Just got one article by droidphile about different parameters of kernel. Although written in context to Kernels developed for SGS-II but great for general reading too.I am going through the article and trying to get a primary knowledge of everything. Noobs like me may take a plunge. Great compilation by droidphile BTW. Thanks to him.

Now the big question.
HID devices such as Bluetooth mini keyboard work perfectly in CM7 ROM. In stock ROMs do not work.
You could research in this line?

Now I'm curious and interested to know.
Does the newer kernel v2.6.32.55 bring any significant improvements or new features over the older v2.6.32.9 kernel?
And is there any reason why LG did not update the kernel whereas for other brands (for example Samsung) they did?
wow, great baater life with the new kernel
Ok,in only write some SMS,have 1call und always a look on the Phone but, looks great.
Right Picture with the Gueste Final
Left the new Platin
Very nice what is your rom cojo11 ?
Hi
I know there is no official ICS ROM but i know that people have ported it off other devises so it works on the s+,
I was wondering...
A) is it worth it e.g. are they stable and fast
And B) which is the best, again most stable and fast.
Thanks
As far as I know there are only two stable ics roms - arco's cyanogenmod 9 port and miui v4 which i havent tried, but its based on cm9, so they should have the same bugs. I'm currently using cm9, and its ok for everyday use.

Update
I have tried a lot of Custom ROMS. I found CM9 Acro the best. Now even Camera is working fine (Front, Back and Video recording @ lower resolution).
MUIU v4 is good, similar to IOS. Lot of bugs. (best part they are reducing everyday).
Paranoid Andriod Ecsatcy is a Tablet like Rom. Can try for a completely different feel.
RemICS is also good with Apex launcher. Need some small fixes though.
Ehndroix is again a good one. Lot of fixes. Can also try it.
Now a days there is lot of work going on so i am happy to see even work progressing on Jelly Bean as well.
hope this helps. Cheers.
I would say the cm9 by arco is the best i've tested.

In my opinion cyanogenmod 9 is the best ICS Rom and there is a offical "stable" version! I tried the nightly builts for 3 months and had no problems.

Hello
I am trying to flash an stable ICS rom for my brothers phone but I really can't find anyone without major bugs. CM9 = to much bugs, Nyx RC 5.0 is just pure ****, Slim ICS (what the **** is wrong with the font?) So can someone recommend me a nice and clean ICS rom that is stable enough for daily use?
I just installed CM9 today and it works pretty good despite the camera and the radio (and now there are alternatives to avoid those bugs too).

CM9 is sluggish as hell so I wouldn't recommend that either. However I don't really understand your font issue with Slim ICS. It does only have 5 system languages but you can install additional fonts to display languages via the "Updater" app included.
In your case as you've eliminated Slim ICS, I guess ICS333 (Team 3xtr3m3) is probably the best one out there. AOSP based with toggles from AOKP and offers a good balance between performance and battery life, with no bugs I can really tell.
Team-Nyx (RC5) yet the most stable rom for me on ics and its pure AOSP

Actually I find cm9 to be the fastest. I've gotten the highest benchmarks compared to slim ics, aokp, etc. Plus I have a bit more trust on cyanogenmod than aokp. Team nyx is pure ics stock but its really slow. Cm9 all the way for me always.

Hi !
Unfortunately, though ICS is extremely good the Custom ICS has it's quirks !
This is because they are developed without source codes from Samsung and no matter how good they are, at a certain point they show their lack of support which they never received from the manufacturer in the first place and therefore after a few days ( or if lucky, weeks) things don't work properly and needs reboots frequently.
Having ICS is like having a short love affair.
Use Gingerbread or change phones.
Sad fact, but true.
Look at the custom ICS camera and look at the original ICS camera. Do you think that we are going to get all the goodies in the SGS ?
Similarly, there are many great features of ICS which the developers cannot give us.
Time to move on.
Take care.

Hi.
Can you please stop posting these opinions as facts, when the "problems" can easily be fixed. This is a development forum, at least it used to be, and you cannot expect everything to work right out of the box like official stock firmware (even though it does most of the time). It's not like you've been scammed by a car salesman selling you a car without an engine.
No offense intended, but please stop it.

Everybody has his own taste, some people like AOSP, some people like AOKP, some people like CM9 while some people like slim ROM regardless with few bugs ... also there are people here in this forum (like you) who install ROMs incorrectly n find it **** (yes i am pointing to Team Nyx's ROM).
