Guys ive recently purchased my bionic on swappa. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the phone and it was never rooted. I updated it to the most recent update ota. After that i rooted it manually....that was two days ago. Im running stock and just removed a few apps. Today i tried to add a contact and it force closed. So i went to my contacts but when i press the little "+" button it says contact storage force closed again. I have no idea why. I tried using root explorer to change its permissions but it still force closed. And i know i didnt remove something i wasnt suppose to. I cant find how to fix this anywhere. Can someone help me out? Thanks

What apps did you remove? I'm guessing you removed some Motorola apps.

Did you remove or freeze the Yahoo contacts apps? For some reason the Bionic contacts app breaks if you remove those.

I only removed things like device setup and help center or social messaging. When i googled how to fix this the yahoo stuff came up but i didnt freeze that. I unfroze everything and rebooted but nothing....

There is an issue with the Google plus app that causes that.
Uninstall it, restart your phone, then download from the market again.
That should fix it.

Anyone have this issue or know how to fix it. When I try to open up contacts it will send me back to the home screen and says "aab initializing" Never seen this before in any android so I'm kinda lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind got it. It was caused by freezing the att apps.

Which AT&T app did you need to unfreeze to get contacts to work again?
I'm betting it was contact sync. I used to close that service all the time cause I didn't care if my contacts were being backed up by ATT. Turns out it was controlling my entire contact app.
Yeah it was the contact sync, if I remember correctly. Been so long since I was on the stock rom can't say for sure.

A reboot won't fix it. I have no new notifications. I'm rooted and froze some bloat, but nothing major.
Anybody else encounter this issue?

Saw that happen when I used the Tranquility toolbox. Rebloating and deleting the app worked to fix the issue for me. Manual debloat with TB or using kejar31's debloated rom worked a little better, no stuck light.

Hmm. I froze Vcast apps and some other bloat with TB. That's all I've done besides block some ads. No toolbox installed.

Try pulling your notification window down for a second...this happens to me everytime I restart my phone and pulling the notification window down seems to reset it....

Im pretty sure it will only do it when you restart so just do the same thing and you will be fine...not sure why it does it but easy fix...

I have nothing to confirm this, but this issue just started happening to me on my Bionic for text message notification lights after the recent Handcent update. I have not tried to uninstall Handcent and see if this happens with the stock messaging app. I am wondering if this is a Handcent bug... Is everyone having this issue using Handcent?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
My solution was confirmed: Handcent recognized that there was an LED issue and fixed it in today's update.

I'm new to the Bionic which I have rooted, but I swear I am constantly reinstalling apps I have already installed. Any ideas?

Go to applications and make sure none are checked in the media area. Its been discussed and your should have searched first.
dan46n2 types faster than I do.
Go to Settings/Applications/Manage applications/media area. If anything is checked go in to them and do move to phone. It should fix your problems. For whatever reason anything installed to media area disappears. If you search you will find several threads about it.

Go to Settings--->Applications--->Manage Applications--->Media Area--->Uncheck any apps with a checkmark---->Move to Phone.
I'm on my phone right now so I can't do what I would have done on a desktop
But if you use that search button up, and to the right you'll find your answer in less time than it took for you to start this thread.
Tldr: everyone has this problem, missing apps are in media storage move them or reinstall then move them.

Hey guys, I decided to go back to a stock rom for a bit and am in the midst of removing the bloatware from the phone, just have one question.
Has anybody been able to remove the stock Facebook and Twitter apps? I can't seem to find them listed in Titanium to either freeze or uninstall. Are they not called Facebook and Twitter?
Any help is appreciated.
The ghetto-fabulous LG Facebook app is called SNS (Social Network Service)....freeze that with Titanium and it's done.

Perfect that worked, thanks. Any idea about the stock twitter app?
That one app got rid of both the Facebook and twitter apps for me.

Hmm, so it did look at that. Thanks!
I was wondering the same thing thanks!
Any one have luck updating gtalk to hangouts, I suppose if your rooted it's probably simple but if your unrooted as I am than the talk app is a system app bloatware and hasn't updated to hangouts

OP asked how we'd go about this if we aren't rooted. Curious about this as well.
You can do it via the play store through the webpage.
Says i have hangouts installed but its not in my app tray..when i hit open from the play market hangout app page it opens Talk
Same thing happened to me...just install it from the play.google.com site as @robfactory said above. Fixed.
installed from web to device and rebooted phone
I'll be sticking with talk. Hangouts is a bit......how do I say it..... IT SUCKS:what:

This is how I did it. Still had a shortcut for Talk in one of my homescreen folders, but just deleted it and replaced it with Hangouts. I like it.

Hate to say it bud, but step one for anything XDA, is root your phone .
Stay on the stock ROM if you want (god knows why, less battery life, slower phone, less secure phone, still the same phone and functionality, but that is your choice to stay on the ROM it came with), but you should add root capabilities. You can stay on the same ROM, only downside is I'm pretty sure there is no way to stay with your current setup, HTC Dev unlock WILL wipe your existing settings, widgets, profiles, apps, etc. But you can flash just the small root package and modify nothing that the phone came with originally. Rooting your phone is required here at XDA (lol not really, I just say that). Anyway, sorry I don't have anything useful to say about the app, but trust me... You want root Besides, you can deny root access to anything. Who is SYSTEM anyway? Why does he have all the powers and I haz so little?
P.S.
Do it.
I am getting this...

I believe the update was pushed today, I saw it in play store as the actual update and it worked fine for me. I got the error message in the previous post once, but restarting the app fixed it. I do get my contact list disappearing quite often.
So far I feel the contact list could use some managing, I miss seeing my talk list and seeing who's online but I suppose I could try it out some more. There is a decent amount of emoticons added, but everything feels very basic and minimalistic. Not quite what I was expecting, could be because it's early on.
All in all, still feels like a beta.
