[Q] Custom ROMs looping on bootloader - LG Optimus 2x

I've flashed two custom ROMs now (WajkIUI and MIUI Spanish) from ClockworkMod, they both loop on the boot animation.
I've gone into ClockworkMod and wiped data/Factory Reset, wiped /cache and Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache, but the same result.
I've tried the latest CyanogenMod nightly, and that is working fine.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

CyanogenMod is in fileformat ext.4, if your new flashed roms are ext2 or 3 you have to use "back to ext.3.zip" found in xda or modaco forums to revert your filesystem/structure back to ext.3. Then wipe - flash - enjoy. After booting you may change kernel to a kernel with ext4 if thats your choise. Some ext.3 roms have autoback to ext3 some dont. There has also been released zips for making your filesystem ext.of choise.
I hope this helps you out.

Get the link for backtoext3 and ext4 converter from here
And also if you are not on the latest version of CWM, I would strongly recommend to install it. Use ROM Manager from android market to install CWM.

Cant install thanatos2x

I have a problem while trying to install thanatos 2x v3.2 EXT4 rom, i was coming from the BlazingDragon v2.0a also EXT4, as far as i know.
I have done the following:
- installed baseband 0725, as stated in the thread
- installed rom manager, and CWM v5.0.2.0
- installed the zip file using CWM
Now the phone stucks with the LG logo....
What am i doing wrong?
Try this.
1. Wipe
2. convert partiotions to EXT4 (flash this in CWM recovery) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1137218
3. Flash the ROM
4. Reboot
If it doesnt work
1. Wipe
2. Flash the BackToExt3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021549
3. Flash the ROM (this will convert the partitions to EXT4)
4. Reboot
Thanks for posting so fast.
I have tried your solution 1, just now, and the result is still the same, i am stuck with the LG logo.
I have already tried your other solution before, but that did not help either....
Any thoughts?
Your ROM file may be corrupted, try downloading it again. If that doesnt work you can ask for help in the Thanatos ROM thread maybe the developer of the ROM can help you out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267347

[Q] Installing custom kernel = boot loop

Hello, when i try to install custom kernel i face a boot loop. I only tried with v10, not tried with v20 though. Tried 3 different kernels and the same. Why is that? It just doesn't work.
And can you tell me some working custom kernel for v20l to try?
Thanks in advance.
What rom are you using?
For myself, usually its an issue of partition beinh ext3 or ext4 that will cause bootloop. I will usually try back2ext3 from paul or ext4 converter.. either one usually fix the bootloop depending on kernel requirements.
Cheers!
Not enough details. Which kernel?
On total stock ROM or on custom stock based ROM?
We are talking about kernel do don't use what is mentioned just above, it will wipe your all system.
I had a boot loop problem after installing a custom ROM based on stock ROM. I didn't wipe the phone before updating to custom ROM. After recovering the original ROM, I wiped the phone from CWM and then updated it and all works well now.
Well i have tried Neoblaze, HorsePower, Spica. I don't wipe after/before installing.
I om on stock rom. Then i must go back with back2ext3.

After installing the kernel try wiping cache and dalvik and see if that helps.
that's your problem, you have to wipe cache and dalvick cache after flashing. hope this can help
Thanks you, im very happy - working now. Flashed HorsePower.
Does Flashing a Custom Kernal Using Orange Fox Recovery Leads to Bootloop ?

Weird problem when flashing CM7 Help!

I have many times tried to flash CM7, but always happens weird thing.
I have stock 2.3.5 XXJVS with Semaphore 2.5.0 kernel
1.I boot into CWM
2.I wipe cache then wipe data/factory reset then i go advanced and choose wipe Dalvik cache
3.Choose .zip from sd card
4.I choose update-cm7.1.0-GalaxyS-signed.zip
5.My phone flashes it
6.It reboots
7.Normal Galaxy S GT-i9000 then Galaxy S
Cyanogen Mod
8.It goes to recovery and posts text very fast then reboots again
9.It repeats everything what it does from section 7.
Im very confused so please help!
Have you tried flashing it again?
redo step 3 and onwards,
sometimes you just need to flash twice.
It seems like a corrupted download... Are you flashing from internal or external? Have you mounted before?
i tried to flash from internal
What version of CWM recovery do you have? Maybe flash a different ROM just to update CWM, and then flash the rom you want?
I had the same, or atleast a similar problem whilst trying to flash CM9. I fixed it by flashing the rom again.
You also might want to redownload the file incase it's corrupt.
i have CWM 5.0.2.7 and i downloaded the CyanogenMod file again so i try to flash it again
Any luck with your efforts this far?
yes, i succesfully installed CM9 about 3 months ago.
I'm not sure which build it was but it was the newest build

[Q] How do i flash a custom rom?

I have been searching around and can't find out how exactly I should go about flashing a custom ROM on the Hero. Yes, before anyone says it, I am a noob at this, and this will be my first time flashing a ROM(if i could ever figure it out). I have the latest stable version of CyanogenMod 7, which i believe is 7.1.0, and the GApps package to go along with it. Both are on the root of my SD card. I rooted with Z4root, downloaded ROM Manager, and chose the setting to flash Clockwork Mod Recovery. Should I flash using ROM Manager, or should I boot into CWM Recovery and flash from there? If possible, does anyone have a video that could help me along with this? The video posted in the video thread for this device is down. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!
Boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery and flash from there.
BTW, I'm running the latest release candidate for 7.2. Works perfectly for me.
I ended up finding a video on how to flash through CWM. I also later downloaded one of the CM 7.2 RCs, believe RC2. Now my next question is, do I need to wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache if I update to a newer version of CM, like a newer RC of 7.2 or one of the early beta versions of CM9?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA
Wipe cache etc. when flashing a later version of CM7 over an earlier version. Do a wipe data/factory reset when flashing CM7 over CM9.
It has always been a safe route whenever you flash a new rom to just wipe data, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik.
Yes.

i9305 stuck on rom booting screen after flash

Was flashing my friends i9305 and now it wont boot any rom I flash... always gets stuck on the first boot screen until I take out battery.
I flashed CWM 6.0.4.7 using odin.
I have tried flashing several roms (CM 11, CM 10.1, PACman 4.3)... Each one will flash with no errors, then when I reboot after correct GAPPS it just gets stuck on the loading screen forever and won't boot up into ROM.
Wipe data/cache, wipe dalvik, wipe system > Install rom from zip, install GAPPS from zip > reboot (even here I wipe system/data/cache - still doesnt work).
Any ideas on why it won't load up the roms....

Well I figured it out... since it was never flashed or anything before (from stock rom)... I just went into the Mounts and Storage menu, and formated /cache /system /data manually and it finally worked.
Hope that helps
