Hey
Well, at first I want to wish you a happy new year.
I think you should try a CM 7.2 KANG with IronKernel because in my opinion this combination will make your phone very stable and it will also perform very well.

Yeah, I don't really know about the camera quality of CM because I haven't compared it with the other roms, but I don't use the camera very often so I don't really care about whether the quality is less than in other roms.

Happy new years!!
I've found that the weapon g2x 3.0_r1 rom is really stable I havny run into any bugs or random reboots. I've been running weapon g2x (various versions) since I got my phone 4 months ago and I'm more and more impressed every day.
Making bad decision's one at a time.

I'm on preorder o2x and I'm on CM7.2 bb824. Haven't had a random reboot/blackscreen in 2 weeks. And I had a lot of those in the beginning.

so is there a stable ICS rom for SGS?

guys I have not been following the mobile scene for nearly four months now. Just want to find out if there are stable releases of ICS for i9000? Not interested in Alpha, Beta builds.
Thanks.
Team ICSSGS
try this one - runs flawless!!!
Doc's Master ICS V5
Milestone 4 of aokp is in my opinion the most stable ICS build.
Great... three replys, three different recommendations.
To be honest none of the ICS roms are perfectly stable yet. They are not like the GB roms stability wise.. Ill give it another 2-4 month before they fix most of the buggs.

Almost three weeks with ICSSGS and Semaphore and I've had exactly one random reboot. It's not perfect but it's pretty close. I also OC a bit so that could be to blame.
Definitely Dark Knight 3. Ive had no issues whatsoever, its the latest 4.0.4, and has awesome battery life

Get lost you're original post was pathetic this one is even more so absurd. You walk in here asking a question without even doing any research. And expect to be spoon fed.
Cut the attitude and sarcasm before anything else. State of mind some peeps on here are in....jeez...

dark knight v3
a good and stable rom is dark knight v3
- some little bugs but works good
and good life batery and speed
thanks guys for your replies. It seems to me that ICS for i9000 is still at premature age. I will come back in four months time to see if I should flash ICS onto my i9000.
in the meantime, those already have ICS on their i9000 have fun.
peace out.

I suppose all 3 roms satisfy the requirement of 'stable'?
He said not interesting in Alpha and beta build, but all the ICS rom out there on XDA are alpha and beta build. If you want a stable ICS, request Samsung build for you one. ) just kidding

[Q] Best ICS rom - Daily use

Hi guys. I am currently using temasek's CM7 build 128, which I really enjoy. (awesome speed, awesome battery, looks cool)
However, I was wondering: is there an ICS rom good enough to use it daily? Even with the hardware acceleration -and other- bugs?
Every thread I search the information is messed up, it is impossible to know if the rom is useable or not. Although I really love testing new roms, I don't have all this time avaiable.
Any sugestions?
Hi,
Try owain CM9.

Owains Domination CM9 (he freshly released Build80). Smooth and quickly. Got nearly no RRs now.
Have fun.
What is the better kernel for this rom?
MIUI v4 by hariel graphics and speed with harsh power 3.0 kernel.
LG O2X - BLACK - ROM MIUI V4 2.6.1 By Hariel
KERNEL HARSH-POWER 3.0.34

Im using Nova with Horsepower kernel. I have not reflashed it since June 1st and it is still smooth as hell.
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda premium
I tried NovaHD and it is really smooth, indeed.
However, apart from the bugs, I noticed 2 things that pissed me off:
1) the battery is warming up fast and stays hot for a long time. I reach 32~34 degrees within 15 minutes of moderate use. (I don't play games)
2) the multitasking feels quite heavy. I no longer can alternate between 3~4 apps instantly, as I could in CM7.
Is it normal from ICS, or will it be fixed when LG/Nvidia release the correct drivers?
thank you for your answers

@cool.guy,
if you haven't tried it yet, give tonyp's PARANOIDANDROID a try as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762494
I either use it or Owain's Domination for my daily use and very happy with both.
Good luck!
Paranoidandroid is also good, like owain's.
However, as I said, nothing compares to cm7. The interface feels much more responsive and light. Running CM9 I can feel the phone using all of its resources and still can't get a decent multitasking.
One of the two senteces below is necessarily true:
1) ICS is too heavy for 512Mb phones; or
2) The lack of hardware acceleration drivers makes the ICS a heavy system.
Agreed?

Why do you believe that? ICS has proven to be a more hardware demander system than GB.
It happened with my old Milestone 1: great phone, but lacked on ram just like optimus. (Considering the launch time).
Result: I had to stay on CM6 if I wanted a decent multitasking. The milestone simply couldn't handle the GB, due to the 256mb ram. So I stayed on froyo and was happy that way.
It seems to be the same situation between GB and ICS.
Please tell me if I am wrong.
Hugs.

Tested Nova, Domination and Paranoidandroid with different kernels and I like Paranoidandroid the most.
I'll leave it as my standard ROM unless something awful will happen, which I'm sure will not : D

tested Nova HD and Paranoid, both is nice and pretty.
1. Nova HD -- Highly customize, can custome your kernel, ril, and Gapp installation, and specially it had LG Optimus UI 3.0
2. Paranoid -- Hybrid system, can exchange your UI to Phone or Tablet and customize each App on the UI mode and DPI
(PS: i like both but i m using Paranoid now)

I'm using Nova HD w/ Nova Kernel Pure Edition right now. With Ramhack (64mb) and autokilling task manager (at turning of the screen) it's freakin slick and runs smooth like a baby ass.
What are the pros/cons, forcing you to use Paranoid instead of Nova HD?
I'm testing the Owain94 rom (domination) with Harsh kernel 2107. I like it, but I have problem with scrolling in some apps. When I use the Dolphin browser and I turn the screen, the app freeze.

Do you really get the decent multitasking as in cm7? After 1 week of using paranoid, I got used to the not-so-good multitask.
When I flashed CM7 back it was like " WTF my phone is flying! I can open the facebook, browser, whatsapp and music player at the same time!"
Do the test. Try cm7 and compares.

[Q] Good tweaked cm7 rom

Ive had my nexus one for two days so far, currently i been running bcm the whole time, i like the rom but its a bit laggy for my taste, even texting seems like a hassle, ill like a current gingerbread rom thats tweaked for performance. its kinda hard searching for one since most roms seems dead. can anybody suggest a few good ones that are running the latest stable cm7?

Performance: CM10 wins here - regarding things like games, scrolling without lag, responsiveness of apps, etc. Especially the browser. I'd wager that even CM7 performs better than the official ICS, knowing LG's awful bloat.
Battery life: Official ICS (for now). P990 sources just dropped so many bugs with the SU660-based CM10 can be fixed quickly
I'd go with CM10 for now. But it's up to you.
Thank you! So i will keep the cm10

this really depends on what you want your phone for.
if you want to use it as a phone as well as everything else you state here. the custom V30a roms are better (no major reports of call bug)
as RC has not released the new kernel version of CM10, the call bug is still there, so for now thats still the major deciding factor to my testing or checking out CM10.
I dont have the call bug

ROM for Optimus 2X?

I tried the Optimus Thrust and Gueste cm7 and cm7 but I am Not satisfied at all! Which one is the best Rom for this phone? Are there any smooth roms with good battery life and short charging time? Im now on old bl but I can simply Update it so no matter about that.

1. Best rom threads aren't allowed here
2. But to answer your question, there is never one ideal rom. It's a personal preference. What I'd suggest is, look at the few popular roms, like one each on ics, cm10, cm10.1 which are trending currently on the forum(browse in the development section to know more, but don't ask in those threads "is this rom best or better than that other rom" etc.) , and give those a try one by one. Settle on your favorite one among those.
Most out here would agree that there is no best, there is a user's personal favorite. Henceforth, a request and an appeal to other new users to not create a similar thread and use this as a reference.
Regards

I personally think that stock gingerbread is the best one, i know it looks like awful due to LG UI Skins but, my back to life O2x is running like a fresh phone now. CM7 as you mentioned is very good at performance but not at battery life, after my O2x bricked when i was trying to install stock ICS, i was using Nova HD and it is pretty awesome, but i think they stopped the development. If you have any question, you can ask me, i will be glad to help you!:victory:

As was explained above, the 'best threads' aren't allowed, one reason, it's avoid discussions since every person has a different opinion based on usage, installed apps, installed mods, etc.
I'll close this to avoid more related posts...
