I would agree - go for the .32 version. It's quite stable for me, and quite fast. The only issue I seem to encounter is that the battery never stops charging when it reaches 99%, it just says "Charging (99%)", and never "Charged". One other thing, sometimes wifi starts from max. the third try, instead of from the first, but it's really no problem. Other than that, everything is fine and the phone feels quick. Also don't go for version 6 - install v5, service pack 1, service pack 2 and the newest zice fixes and it's perfect.

The best 2.2 rom with great battery life is utopia guys!

Anyone recommend me a stable froyo/gingerbread rom? I dont care about performance, just a bug free and stable rom. Not oxygen, had heaps of problems with that rom.
Thanks

For 2.3 I really think its asis ..

For GB I would say Mur4ik's Swifdroid ASIS or PCfighter's CM7, i'm currently on PCfighters GB (not a big enough data partition on ICS

Why absolute?????? People which don't do video chat can perfectly use froyo
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
Yea i know it's old but i want to try it and see if it works well. If not then i will put on CM7 kang on it.
Don't worry as Ive already put cm7 kang onto it and its good.
i dont use video chat often, but i personally found gingerbread better, its just faster, more responsive, better ram management and the battery lasts longer. good enough reasons to say that froyo is obsolete imo.

Fastest and Most Stable Custom Rom

Hi everyone!
Just got the optimus 2x from my brother. Its still in stock rom. May i know from you what's the fastest and most stable custom rom for the phone so that i could give it a try?
Im using miui 2.3.16 + etana kernel with lite battery mod. No issues found.

I vote for this.
but if you don't use any video recording, CM9-Kang by owain already can be used for daily.
it's fast & stable enough if using default config.
I'm pretty happy with what I have in my sig.
However, I would test drive the phone for a couple of weeks if I were you. There have been users reporting very bad battery life that returned the phone and got a much better one.
So personally I would test-drive every functionality of the phone: 3G, wi-fi, bluetooth, GPS, etc and make sure everything is working fine before going for "warranty voiding activities"

Thats also what i'm using right now, also with ironkrnL (80 uv-log-su-rld), Chainfire3D and my own sd-fix. But in cause of the missing hw acc, i posted the cm7 variant
+1 for cm7 kang by temasek (with stock kernel).
I dont see anyone talking about one of the best ROMs with all custom like features with excellent smoothness and best performance....Django ROM with Stefan's or Spica's Kernel....it virtually flies...
try it man....you will know

watch the flag system!
You have to change the filename before flashing, i recommend to NOT use "jrnl"!
And never flash it with touch-cwm, it would kill your system/data partitions.

Good support- every Weekend a new update.

I guess question was about fastest and most stable ROM, not about "stable and fast enough". ICS on P990 is highly unstable for now. I'm using ICS for daily use and i don't complain, but there's always something that isn't working as it suppouse to. So at this moment CM7 isn't only more stable then ICS, it's faster too. Android 4.0 doeasn't even have hw acceleration yet.

Agreed, at this moment CM7 is much more stable and also faster, i tried CM9 but some apps didn't work and sometimes the phone was getting slow all of the sudden not to mention the browser was always crashing, im using CM7 now and its so fast and stable
You can use CM7 and see it flying, but without some of the phone features, like video call (I'm not talking about Skype or viber, just the native one), smart share, divx, hdmi video resize... Or you can try one of stock roms with the great kernels from here and have a full phone.

Thanks for all the replies. Will try out soon. Also, I have noticed that the battery life for the optimus 2x is so bad! With stock froyo last night, after just about 2hrs of some wifi and games, the battery has already gone down to 15%!!! That's how bad it is!
Is this normal? Should I return the phone to the store?
Also, will the gingerbread update and/or custom rom flashing bring about better life for the battery?

DjangoManouche 1.1 is highly recommended with V20q baseband and HP SR3R2 Kernel. After trying out many stock variants, Modaco ROMS, Thanatos and CM ROMS, I finally settled on this one as it has resolved all the issues I had with the phone and gives good battery and network performance.

[Q] Help with improvements

Hi everyone, I'm trying to get all the potential from my O2x, so I have installed CWM, flashed DjangoManouche 1.2, and installed the Supercharger script from the Django topic, the question now, is why my battery drains so fast, I think I have overlooked something, and what can I do to get more power from my phone.
Thanks in advance

i can think of two issues...
1)try to change the BB/RIL combination to the one mentioned in the first post of the ROM by the developer...(DJ 1.2 is V20Q)
2)allow the battery to be charged and discharged for a couple of times....I mean a few cycles to check the actual performance...
Personally, DJ 1,2 is the best in GB ROMs - in performance, stability and speed....I am waiting for the Developer to come to ICS ...
Hope he is listening...one of my best friends in this forum.....I am waiting my friend for you in ICS
Thanks for the reply, I think that my RIL is right, because in GetRIL app, it says that my RIL is 0725 (V20q, Europe) and my baseband is 1035.21_20110725, how can I see if my baseband is 20q too?
And how many charges I will need to make, to get my battery working properly? At last, which kernel you think I get best battery / performance? And it's normal to get the phone at 40ÂșC or hotter when charging?
Sorry for my bad english, it isn't my native language

Are you sure that running for maximum performance, you wont damage or even brick your phone? And I guess 40c is kinda hot for the phone.. I used to get this hot phone on couple of roms this winter, but not any more.. I would suggest you to try out Owain's ICS , yesterday came out most stable and smooth version - RC0-35 And today he strted conversation with EaglesBlood , so hopefully soon we will get something amazing..
Friend, and your battery, how much time it lasts? Mine don't last for more than 12 hours of medium use, what kernel are you using now? And I want a stock ROM if I can choose :-D
Thanks for helping

[Q]Best and stable ROM

Hello members out there.!
I have one simple but still hard question,
At the moment i've tried a lot of ROMS for my Optimus 2x
But not all that stable and atm im looking for a stable ROM, not a phone that keeps
Getting random shutdowns or low battery perfomance.
So please share your experience here with your ROMS and tell me which one is the most stable
Greetings,
Micronuub.
this question is here many times.
you have basically 2 choices - stock or cyanogenmiod.
i think the most stable is stock 20q ROM with some better kernel. it only has some problems - few RAM, it becomes laggy after about 120hours of use, but it still works and you can reboot it manually. i dont like when i oversleep in the morning because CM7 ROM randomly, once in month, drains all battery over night and alarm doesnt work in the morning.
if you dont need 100% reliability from stock rom. i recommend 99% reliability of cm7(temasek build) with ram hack kernel.

I dont like to oversleep in the morning cause my phone yet had another random shutdown, I will try CM7 Kang the newest build.
Thanks
Greetings,

Hi,
I use DjangoManouche ROM and I can say that it's very great.
Actually I'm testing v1.3beta+Gueste1.6OC.
Fast and smooth.
i tried new one ROM, but it not all that stable for my 2X.
Now i use ROM Nova HD RC17-30.
What version?
Use Temasek KANG builds until Tegra binaries are popped out for cm9 work
Hello,
Try the v20q by flix123 plus the v20q pack. I think it's taking the stock roms to another level of stability and performance. You can put the spica1234's sr3r2 on top plus the pp10r and you have smooth, long lasting stock experience!
The gueste kernel is also very. very good.
I also suggest is to reboot the phone after each flash because with me it reboots when i enter the market if i put in there more than one flashing at once.
cheers
I am using alien revolution 2.1 FINAL
fast
stable
good battery life
no random reboots

Install as usual with cwm. It will be start aroma installer on which you can choose option, like kernel, with GUI.
Also choose full wipe.

From ICS to JB - any advantages?

I was just wondering what the experience has been for people who switched from ICS to JB. Are there any advantages in terms of battery life, stability and/or performance?
Thanks in advance.

I'm using TAJB rom from last 1 month, it is daily driver with very minor issues and 100% faster smoother than any ICS rom.
I can say JB is real matured OS of android.
For example, Max Payne game
On ICS it strucks very much, and need to wait almost 5 mins to load the game. I know saving the game also an issue.
On JB, it is smoother and loading became very faster and never strucked. i tried very hard to struck it intentionally but failed every time.

Praveen.

There is no perfectly stable JB roms atm as they are all still in alpha/beta.
Elite's recent beta 9 is apparently a very good improvement over beta 8, some are even claiming that it's currently better than his very good ICS rom.

What do you believe, could JB get more improved for SGS than ICS? I mean, all of the ICS rom's that the developer said that are stable, failed at some point. Every ICS ROM that I had on my phone, had a critical point in time where all of the apps and system apps had permanent FCs so I'm looking in the close future for a ROM that it isn't stable for an "determined" period of time... I know that it's not necessarily to get better stability while having better performance, but I hope that there is a better chance in improving our SGSs with JB.

The FCs you got is probably because your /datadata partition got full. Install the Datafix app from the Play Store and clear your cache every now and and it shouldn't happen again.
I've used Elite's ICS rom since beta 10.1 and it's been stable as a rock for me. I'm sure his JB rom is just as good.
Hey guys, I am still using an odexed version of GB, it is very fast and stable but does the memory improve in ICS or JB, the problem with the sgs as you know is the memory I just want to know if ICS or JB use less memory then GB.
do you recommend to change?
For me battery life was a bit better on JB, depends really on the kernal you use though,
with performance, depends on the ROM you are using, for example i found that some roms where slow, and had poor battery life, while others were extremely fast and had good battery life.
Im currently using X-bean 1.0 and i am very happy with it

The current best one is X-Bean. I've tried all of them and X-Bean is by far the most usable rom that is available currently, with SlimBean + DevilKernal combo coming in second.

In my experience, boot times vary from rom to rom even within the same android version, with lighter roms having shorter boot times.
Same here, I'm using X-Bean and since now the fastest and most stable JB ROM (I used all JB's on XDA). I'm using Devils kernel and in normal usage - 1,5 day. Best battery of course on GB, but this is a small cost for performance
