You're right.
In froyo fws, the scrolling in the musicplayer was a bit better but the app is perfectly adapted for the 2x.

just wondering.. what's the correct way to install this? i've never done this before.. can i just run the apk file from within the phone? do i need to place it somewhere specifically? what about those files in the meta-inf folder?
i would like to try this on CM7.2 temasek build 23
It's a flashable zip for the clockworkmod. Install the CWM via Rom Manager (Root is required), copy the zip file to the external SD, boot into CWM and flash the zip file.
You don't need to extract anything from the zip file.
ahh thanks for that.. i just tried it on CM7.2 temasek build 23 and it FC's
now umm.. here's a question.. how do I go back to the previous music player as it installed over it? do i have to reflash the ROM onto it?? :S
Thanks a lot for this
Messed my stock music app
This wiped my stock music player. Now I dont know how to get my stock music player back Im on v20L btw. Stock GB ROM.
For V20L this one here could do the trick:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=825391&d=1324526066
It's the LG music player, that you can add to guestes ROM, but it should work for you as well.
how about for v20e?
Should work for V20e as well, I guess. But perhaps you should make a backup before you try...
Is there a difference between all the LG players?
I have yet to see any.
One thing for sure, I agree with Spica, I have tried plenty and the LG music player is by far the best. Simple, clean and fast.
I just wished it played FLAC files natively. And of course, that it could download missing artwork.
Is lg music player connected to framework like Samsung's?
Or I can install in any ROM (CyanogenMod)
Great
good
I think, AIMP good player for LG. Best sound!

Go to the cyanogen mod wiki and download the stable 5.08 nexus one image. Open it in 7zip and extract the music apk. I installed it and it works fine. I also removed samsung's sound player and music player through titanium backup and everything still works on my phone including ringtones and notification sounds

Are there by chance any other goodies that can be used from that build on the Captivate? I'm loving the music player.

Can you post a link? Also, how would I go about putting the music apk into the phone? Sorry, I'm still new to android phones
The link to cyanogenmod stable (2.1) for the nexus one is: http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/nexus/update-cm-5.0.8-N1-signed.zip
there are a number of apps (if not all) that can be straight copied over to our phones (or any HDPI device I believe) since the ROM isn't odexed. I personally use the stock music player and the deskclock utility (though trying to use settings or the music icon on this app causes it to force close).
to put any of these apps onto your phone, either read up on how to enable sideloading/non-market apps with adb OR use the Android Sideload Wonder Machine from Android Central: http://www.androidcentral.com/sideload-android-apps-all-you-want-sideload-wonder-machine
The music.apk file can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?lncllepwv1pr27b
again, you can remove the Sound Player and Music Player provided by samsung through titanium backup and everything will still work smoothly.

Thanks a bunch! Do I need to install cyanogenmod? I skipped that step and everything is still working fine
I just googled it, works fine for me. Much more functional, the samsung version doesn't let you explore your playlists, so I couldn't use it...
Stock works perfectly though.

no, you don't install cyanogen mod (there is no working cyanogenmod specifically for the galaxy s line yet). Simply install the apk through the android sideload wonder machine. You can pull out the apk's that you want FROM cyanogenmod and install them manually.
there are some apk's that you obviously shouldn't try with this same method (ones that are deeply integrated into the ROM like Dialer.apk or Contacts.apk) without a lot of background research into how to get them up and running smoothly (if it's even possible).
When I tried tunewiki I found it to be a little laggy when scrolling. Does the stock version have this problem on the captivate?

Get Eliot Stocker's Music Mod and Droid Shuffle. You will never need anything more.
Music.apk
I downloaded that music.apk file it was a zip unzipped dont see an apk file please tell me how to install that on my phone
@clownluv
you must be a troll...
Anyone notice something weird when scrolling through songs on the stock android music player? When I use the bar quick scroll to songs beginning with a letter, it would go to I -> O -> E
even though I'm on M or something else.
Yup it happens to me as well.
I think it has something to do with song names.

Me too. Other than this, this is a pretty good music player.
Hey guys,
I wanted the default music player. Since there is no music player in the Modego firmware. I really like it. Could some please upload it? In the form of a .apk or a clockworkmod zip or whatever is convenient! TIA.
Regards,
Kalpak Khemka.
the easiest/quickest way would surely be to extract ir from another rom.
just open another rom with winrar/winzip or your packer of choice and goto system\app and copy the music.apk from there yo your phone and install it.
I have a stock LG rom. But I don't know how to extract! Just use winrar?!
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
I had the same problem with the mondego rom. I switched to PlayerPro (I think it is better than the LG player).
If you really want the LG stock player, you can use WinRAR or 7zip. Just open it as an archive. Then browse to the app/apk folder and extract the app/apk.
I want to play .dm files in the sdcard. The Ennio Morricone's! And no audio player shows them. Do i need to remove the DRM on it? I really dont want all that hassle!
Hi Everybody
I installed cyanogenmod 7 to my SGA ,but I think the stock music player is better than the CM7 one. I deleted the music.apk and the music.odex from the system/apps and I moved the stock files (music.apk,music.odex) to here. I set the permissions to rw -r -r in both files. Then I rebooted my device and now the music player isn't in my app drawer. I don't know what I have to do. Any idea?
(In the future I would like to change the gallery to the stock one ,because it's lagging and very very slow Is it possible? )

hey everyone so i installed a new rom on my phone but i want its original widgets and i have been looking but the weather widget is the only on i find can some one plz give me a flashable zip folder with the music and calender and all the other thatnk you O and also can sum one teach me or show me how to put dsp manager on the thrill i have with this as well
Hey there!
Not sure about the original widgets, but DSP Manager is a bit tricky. I too love this audio control device. I used it when I originally installed Cyanogen 7 on my P925G. Was great, except now with the Gingerbread update, CM7 isn't so useful anymore.
Originally, I backed it up with Titanium Backup, but while restoring it worked, the equalizer caused it to crash constantly. So I wouldn't recommend doing that.
After a bit of digging around, I found a CWM flashable package for DSP Manager. Seems to be working great now. Check out the link below to get it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397429
Your phone will need to be rooted and have ClockworkMod installed to do it. But if it is, works great with no crashing. And makes my tunes sound great.
Hope this helps!
Thanks but i dnt get it can sum one make a video so i can see it or step by step detailed

Hi, I was using gingerxperia revolution rom run on stock kernel. It was a decent rom and the music player was awesome, mainly that you could change songs by shaking your phone.
Today I upgraded to nAa kernel and minicm7 I like this rom but the music player is way inferior. what should I do
thanks
