Whats the best rom for now? - LG Optimus 2x

Hey,
at the moment im running nightlies latest version.
But im searching for something more stable, and maby faster.
Its hard to folow witch one is the best there are so many different once.
So Someone who tried most of em? With one is the best
Tnx allready!
Greetings

Hi I'm using Gueste 2.1 (with SR1 kernel, Go Launcher and the ICS theme from the subforum). Overall it's a great ROM, the battery use graph says i'm using it for 4 days (2G, 45min wifi, 25min calls and some photos) with 1 charge . That's insane, i've only managed to get 1.5-2 days with stock. Speed is better than stock, but it is not buttery smooth in Settings menu. I'm waiting for Gueste 2.2 with the new kernel, developer says it will be smoother. Hope i helped!

Well, instead of running cm nightlies you could try CM7.2 kangs those are better than the nightlies and also more stable.

You people that have the option to turn 3g off are lucky my network forces it so if its switched off i lose network coverage, they only allow 2g switch if your not in a 3g zone which is rare so my battery gets eaten in a day.

i agree eith you. cm 7.2 is real stable, but sometimes i got bsod. its real smooth and fast. im not turning off my wifi. battery life is not so good.imho

Hello!
Define best rom!?!
It is last but not least a question of taste.
All the latest ROMs (CM7.2-RC0-KANGs, MIUI 12+, custom roms based on stock source V20m and up) seem to be pretty stable…
All have their pros and cons.
MIUI has a UI concept similar to iOS – if you like that – go for it…
CM7.2 has a more vanilla approach of gingerbread…
…or a stock source based rom (i.e. Gueste2x) with the look and feel of the original LG stuff, but with more speed and less bugs…
All these latest roms will do for everyday use.
I like CM7 most but that is just my cup of tea.

oke peaple tnx for your reactions !

I'm currently using it right now. Its pretty good. But now it has been updated to version 3.2. Might go flash it tomorrow.
im running the 3.2 version
installed it 2 days ago
seems fine to me..
I was using darky's for a long time but since hes taken a break i've been exploring other rom's. I've been on simple honey 3.1 for about two weeks and really like. I have been getting outstanding battery life. On average two days of pretty heavy use, with wifi on and email sync. Been quite happy with it. It had a few bugs such as black on black text but 3.2 has fix that.
I can tell after some weeks of simply honey 3.1 it has strong points against other roms and some little bugs (ex. text on black) that seems to be fixed in 3.2.
Currently i'm 3.2 but battery life in 3.1 was better than every original, that's for sure.
Bye
Thanks I notice that battary life in 3.2 maybe little bit lower than the regular anroid Rom but this is a very good Rom I haven't noticed any bugs yet
rom has very little effect on battery relative to the kernel: Simply Honey 3.2 has excellent battery life because it utilizes the GTO kernel
it's still an excellent Rom but what differentiates various Roms from one another regarding battery use is the kernel they use
Maybe darix can do a battery re-calibration and see how's the new battery life. Should be better than normal rom.

galaxy S best rom for me?

hello, what is the best rom for me?
i use a lot the mobile every day... sometimes it's ten of the morning and i have only 70% or 60% of the battery...(when i unpluged for charge at 8 or 9 of the morning!!!!)
my battery need's to be calibrate, how can i do that?(when is full charged the battery start's at 97%..., and sometimes when i change the sim card, one is with 40% of battery, and the next moment, the other with for example 25%)
i use a lot of 3G and wifi(since 15 february i have used 3.75gb at wifi, and 8.01gb at 3g)
sometimes i use the videocalls, and play some games
i need a rom stable with wifi..
i use some app's with connection to the internet(messenger for example)
i send and receive calls, sms's and mms
i need a rom with long life battery...
thanks
I am new to custom ROM and Planning to install Teamhacksung's ICS Build 16.
Currently on Ginger Bread Value Pack.
Please suggest.
I am using the JW1 ROM.
My battery has been calibrated and comes off the charger anywhere from 97% to 100% (varies day to day).
I can get close to two days of use with the battery with moderate use (internet, facebook, Seesmic, Google+).
On heavy use days I end the day at about 40% battery left.
Which one is better, Teamhacksung or WeUI?
I've used official rom, Darky Rom, MIUI Mintberry and use Dark Knight 3 (ICS 4.0.4) now. You can try MIUI Mintberry. It is very powerful about battery. But I'm not sure about wireless that spends energy so much everytime.
The best is always the one that meets your needs, I'm using WeUI and is fantastic.
Sorry my bad English.
not bad dark knight v3
Go for team icssgs RC 4.2 and flash the semaphore 0.9.1 kernel it's amazing

and also Dark Knight 3 (now 4) see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510940 they are both good and stable for daily use.
My current favourite is Blue Lightning but this could change over the next few days!
It is down to personal preference but check out the comments on the relevant threads for best battery life etc. etc.

Depends on your tastes. For pure unadulterated ics go with elites v9.1 for more tweaking options go with roms based on aokp or codrnameandroid. For slim versions you can't go wrong with krarvinds slim ics

For rock solid stability, compatibility with the fewest quirks as possible, i'd recommend MIUI Mintberry.
It's GB based and has been running SOLID for months on my phone. Battery lasts for the whole day with intense use. Lasts 2 or even 3 with minimum use.
Everything i ever tried, worked. No lags, no quirks no workarounds needed, it just works (gps doesn't but mine never did, isn't rom related)
No crap "it's for your own good" excuse for the battery drain when charged to 100 and still plugged as seen in samsung roms (that's what sets this one aside for me).
Beautiful sms interface with one of the best notifications/popups methods i've seen. Ever.
Launcher needs to be changed though, i really like Go Launcher Ex. MIUI's lacks organization.
Phone is as fast as it gets. And this is FAST! I've tried almost everything around (ICS even) and this one comes nothing short of the fastest roms around.
well i think the best rom for batterylife is froyo 2.2.1
or try darky 9.5 or ultimate
they are the best roms for battery and they r all froyo
I think the best ROM I've used for battery life is Simplicity 2.2.1v2, that thing lasted for a couple of days. That ROM is based on GB 2.3.6. I've also heard good things about Gamerz but I haven't tried it.
If you want an ICS ROM I'd recommend Slim ICS. I'm running it with the semaphore kernel at the moment and can get 2 days of use out of it usually.
I have Dark Knight 3 with Devil2 kernel running perfect on my phone
Video calls? Skype or 3G network calls?

best gingerbread rom and kernel with great perfomance and battery life?

please share
is there any custom gingerbread rom with bloatware removed and big free ram? and a kernel with OC/UV? plus great game compability?
how about MIUI?
Have yet to find one to best DjangoMouche 1.2.1 its GB 2.3.4 its customized, with different themes to choose from and a good bunch of performance tweaks. everything has been running smooth.
games run well, things load fast
I'm using Gueste overclock v1.8.1 kernel but thats up to choice. i found it works great between 900 - 1300mhz. but above that its rebooted on me a few times.
You could try Temasek's CM7 Rom with it's own kernel, it has OC/UV and all that things.. Run's pretty smooth and stable but i can recommend you to use GO Launcher EX with an ICS Theme :good:

Currently on DJ 1.5RC1 and have to say it is truly magical. The feel of performance, smoothness and speed is just incredible.Always try to experiment with other GB roms and always drawn back to DJ ROM.DJ roms provide many choices according to our needs and customization as we like with transformation packs. So have to say this is the best choice i will ever have:cyclops:
Same here, Django Manouche, currently 1.5 RC1, but I am using latest spica kernel ;-)

Hi, this is my first post here. I have been flashing various roms and a few basebands and rils in my quest to get better battery life from my LG Optimus 2x. In the end. Most of what I have done is experimental and I can not say I understand much about versions and combinations. Last night, I read quite a few posts about the Django Manouche rom and downloaded all the three versions of the 1.6, the stock, the Spica and the Gueste.
Flashing led to boot looping on the Spica rom, powering off on the Gueste rom while on the stock 1.6s it ran OK, with some applications not running until I rebooted.
I came from a stock LG rom and was wondering if I need to change the baseband and kernel also, for these to work.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
I think these "best rom" threads are forbidden but I'll give my 2 cents anyway, in case I'm wrong:
for me the best rom is Gueste Hybrid revolutions 3.7, is a hybrid between stock Rom and cm7.2, and symbiosis kernel 1.3.
I get great performance, great battery life, great ram management. I can't really complain, I'm so satisfied that I'm not that eager to get ICS (at least not as much as I was before).
LG optimus 2x, rom Gueste Hybrid 3.7
@daas88. Taking your advice, I have flashed the same combination as you, just this morning. I have been very active on the phone since then, so I can't tell right away, if there is any improvement in battery life.
By the way, I continue to be on the 20i baseband.
I shall report back soon.
Temasek
Probably the cleanest install would be Temasek. A very stable CM7 build. It's sort of finished, and offers a great experience. Use it with Temasek's, Spica's or symbi0sis kernel.
I've tried DM and it's great, but this just feels cleaner.
gl!
I have been reading about the Temasek rom. What is your view on its battery consumption? That is something I am focussing on. The stock LG set up lasts for about 9-11 hours on my phone, with full 3G, about 4 hours of wifi usage and about 1-2 hour of music (Neutron music player). I have a battery pack that I carry with me to work, but it is a big bother.
So, basically, to me battery life is top priority. If I can extend it to 12-15 hours, I am home and dry.
I've used Temasek for a long period of time, and though I don't want to go back to gingerbread (currently on Paranoid Android) I do miss the battery life. With Temasek (or stock CM7) I would get about 32 hours of battery life: a day and a night. This with some browsing, playing music checking e-mail.
Overclocking would lose you some of that time, but the toggle2g app would win it back. :good:

Increased CPU performance, larger screen and stagnated battery technology will do this
As for battery life, I do miss my Nokia 3210!
A small update. I charged my phone to 100% yesterday evening at 7 PM. From then on till now, what I observe is that with the phone in standby mode, the battery consumption curve remains almost flat. But the moment I start using some apps, for instance the Number links game for 15-20 minutes, the battery level drops by 10%.
This is with the Gueste Hybrid ROM and the Symbiosis kernel.
Further update: The battery went to 14% and then I charged it. 15 hours. Some improvement. It may be too early to comment, but this set up seems to work superbly when the phone is on standby. When the phone is in use, the consumption seems to be high. Could it be improved by changing the BB or the ril?

Can someone recommend a stable rom ?!

Hi Guys,
I tried a lot of roms for the I9000. CM10, MiUI ... etc etc. I love both of them and i really appreciate the smoothness of JB.
However I have a big issue: Random Reboots !.
I constantly get these reboots (twice a day at least). Then I'm forced to unlock my pin and usally my battery indicator goes nuts like from 90% before to 6%..
It drives me mad, because most of the time I don't notice my phone rebooting in my pocket. This time I'm not reachable and my phone is useless to me.
Can someone recommend a more stable ROM ? Should i go back to Samsung Stock ? Oh my I hate lag and old Android OS.

Depends on what you prefer GB, MIUI, CM
I like GB and using Saurom v2, v3 is on the way soon as is really stable and can tweak it
Can't be helped. Even budget grade phones nowadays have duo core CPUs. If you want your phone to be completely smooth, you are stuck with GB. Ficeto Base Roms are pretty stable, but lag features that you would normally find in custom roms (it's called a base rom for a reason). Darky Roms are quite stable too, but it can lag heavily in 3D games during explosion scenes.
You don't have to use GB. I'm on SlimBean 3.1, it's stable, smooth and the performance is great. (Live OC 114, I/0 = Noop, Smooth UI)
Mackay 1.6.3 is fine in regard of smoothness and battery consumption. Try it out

[Discussion] - Best Custom Rom / Kernel

Hello Proud user of LG Optimus 4x HD,
Now that we have '' Unlocked Bootloader '' and our beloved phone is being looked after some '' Great Developers '' let's have a look at the ''Features, Functions and Disabilites'' about all this stuff being Developed around here. This thread is open to all who want to make suggestions or express his/her experience about any Particular Rom / Kernel.
So happy Discussing.

I am using the latest official CM10.1 Nightly build and play around it for 3 days. It is really great. Compare it with Stock LG 20B JB. I found
The pros-
1, The speed and response of UI, open up apps, web browsing and etc. improved a lot!!!
2, Less heat is generated
3, A lot better battery life.
4, A lot more control on everything.
5, Officially support FB home and it runs perfectly (You can even download it from the Play store)
6, seems it has better multi-tasking, at least it won't kill too many of the background apps (I have VLC direct running on background, I will always get killed on stock LG rom, but on CM10.1, it will still running while I am doing something else)
7, Better and more pretty UI.
The cons-
1, MHL output is not working correctly. (and it seems it will never work)
2, No custom ringer and notification sound.
3, All volume seems less loud than the stock
4, Media won't scan again while you unplug and plug the SD card back on.
5, Camera has less control and lower performance (HDR run slower that it really wait and take 3 slow shot to compose, no way to shut down the shutter sound, no ISO control and only +/-1 exposure control)
6, Too many option and control on setting, you might not have an idea what it really do....(maybe it is a pros for some ppls, haha)
It is just my opinion during these 3 days. Maybe some of them is just a bug or I just too new to this. Hope you guys don't mind. Even there is a lot of Cons, I think this ROM is very nice. Thanks. =)
Mike
Well I'm currently in the process of reverting to v10a. Call me crazy but if you're a gamer it's the fastest rom with 99% of games working great. Since then LG became obsessed with overheating and slowly degraded its performance. Now that I'm unlocked I'm going to see if it's possible to use proper clockworkmod on this rom, if it works maybe someone can port some custom kernel features. JB and cm10.1 are still great though and I plan to continue experimenting with them as more stuff is developed

I have also switched a lot in this last month or so but just in between Stock, CM10,1 and Werewolf Rom.
1. For me stock has the best battery results almost used phone for 40 hours or so still with some battery left and had absolute no problems at all with the baseband issue ( I hope xtribas and others who do have it get over it as soon as possible with the help of good development).
2. CM10.1 is great work and a build of devotion from its developers almost everyday comes a new nightly with some features and tweaks. Runs very smooth and till now have had not many bugs I would say some problem with baseband wakelocks here but not in Stock which I cannot explain why.
3. Werewolf's Rom one of my fellow Countrymen is Fantastic I really appreciate his work, time and efforts. It's an awsome Rom fast, stable almost reliable like stock. It will be best Rom after Stock I guess.
I am not a Gamer so sorry to all Gamers I don't know how is the Gaming Life on this Phone (with all due respect to @non4 and others, I hope you guys get best out of this phone with the help of our Clever Developing Team.) In between I do play games but on my Laptop ( Acer Aspire V3-771G, intel i7-3610QM 2,3 GHz, 16GB RAM, 1,2 TB HDD, NVIDIA Geforce GT 650M )
Happy Discussion Guys

Update: flashing clockworkmod on ICS gives the notorious security error, for it to work the ROM would have to be repacked to a flashable format like zaiben. And the eternity project kernel just got updated, based on feedback I may have to go back to JB already

After next time you revert to v10a (you seem to switch back and forth a lot ), would you mind packing up and uploading the files in /system/lib? I need them, but really would like to avoid having to flash back to v10a/h at the moment. It seems that LG's ICS builds are currently the only builds with properly working MHL and it is likely it has to do with the included tegra libraries.
I am even more interested in these files for v10h (although the relevant files may be the same), if anyone has easy access to them.

Hi there @non4 can you please explain some main differences between some of the Roms and Kernels you have tried so far, which is good and in which way like battery life, usage, and which is not so good and needs to be looked at? I ask you because I think you have switched around a lot (sorry if I am wrong) and have tested directly from some of the Great Develeopers around.
Just a small submission of your experience would be enough
Thanks

v10a stock: pure speed, awful battery
v20a stock: Better than v10h, but not as fast as v10a
v20a with iodak kernel: Good battery, close to v10a performance
v20a with kholks kernel: Fastest experience but currently too buggy
CM10.1: Faster in some games, but slower in others, battery OK and some nice features
CM10.1 with werewolf kernel: Solves some of the lags at cost of battery
PACMAN: Not a gamers ROM but fun to play around wit
ZAIBEN: Just like stock without the bloat
That enough??

Have you tried the latest CM10.1 nightly? I just flashed it last night and I had no issues with Deep Sleep, Runs very Smooth and Battery Life is Good. Last night I unpluged it at round about 10:30 PM and today Morning at 9 I just lost 2% of battery so I think its not bad 0.2% overnight.
I guess I will try this:
v20a with iodak kernel: Good battery, close to v10a performance
and I am gonna try
Iodaks Kernel with CM10.1
and lets see what comes out. I have a long weekend to play with because Monday is Holiday here in Germany

When I see some optimization to the I/O speed which will hopefully fix the remaining stutters then I will try, I CBA with moving my stuff to the right folders and restoring all my apps . Try its a good combo! Nice core usage and performs like kholks old 3.1.10 alpha

I have flashed the iodak's kernel with latest CM 10.1 Nightly and I must say it's a great Combination from Developers and Battery life is nice as well. Have a look.

v10a stock: pure speed, awful battery
v20a stock: Better than v10h, but not as fast as v10a
v20a with iodak kernel: Good battery, close to v10a performance
v20a with kholks kernel: Fastest experience but currently too buggy
CM10.1: Faster in some games, but slower in others, battery OK and some nice features
CM10.1 with werewolf kernel: Solves some of the lags at cost of battery
PACMAN: Not a gamers ROM but fun to play around wit
ZAIBEN: Just like stock without the bloat
That enough??

Hey Thanks for this Summary... I was waiting for something like this to decide if I go into CM10.1 or Stay in Stock with a Different Kernel :good:
I think best kernel for now is the stock kernel because the custom aren't ready 100%

I have used nightly and iodak's combination for couple of weeks and I am very happy with the using experience. Battery life is much better than stock and gaming is no laggish. Currently I am using Arararagi's unoffical version so I can still use LG's quicknote and Memo which are only things I want to use from the stock. thanks for Arararagi, make me love CM more. Werewolf kernel also great but I found iodak's better for me. Any way you won't regret to move to CM.
Official jb rom and ioak kernel at the moment. I like lg keyboard and the battery drain is less than cm.
