Can someone explain Beats? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I understand that it is an audio processor, similar to SRS
But how expansive is it?... Is it just present in the stock music player?
Or
Is it a system wide feature, also effecting Google Music, Pandora, etc?
I don't have any music stored on my phone... I stream everything. So I'm curious if it's worth having Beats or if it is essentially just bloat, in my case.

Stock only, therefore, it's bloat in your case.

So it benefits what?

Thanks guys...
Now I know not to give any weight to Beats when looking at ROMs
That's a disappointment. But less bloat is a good thing.

exactly.
it 'benefits' the stock music player...by becoming another preset EQ...
honestly, a system wide EQ is a much better solution. apply EQ settings across the board.

Don't forget the cool boot animation and wallpaper you can legitimately run with it.

The headphones themselves make you look like a tool, however. They don't even sound good! You could get Sennheisers or Sonys that perform better for less.

Haha you see, me and you are in the minority on that one. The general public thinks beats make you look awesome. Sennheiser is nice. I have a pair of audio technicas that were only $130 and the clarity and bass kick the crap out of any pair of beats. Don't even get me started with skullcandy...

Are skull candys any good, I'm a noob when it comes to headphones.

No, neither are beats. Bose are a teeny bit better but still not great. Do a google search for "Head Fi" and go to the headphone forum. You will be enlightened.

Skull Candy and Beats are there just for aesthetics. Kinda like Apple :] KIDDING, nobody rape me.. god damn.
When you look for headphones, especially if you want some with good bass, look at the frequency response. You want ones that have a much wider response that starts low and tops out high.

Beats audio

Has anyone listened music on a phone with beats audio on it? My friend has it. And WOW can you tell the difference. I am patiently waiting someone to port it Droid x.
Well, the only time I had heard of Beats in the past was on a certain audiophile forum where some silly person benchmarked the original Beats headphones, and found that they had unbelievably bad sound quality.
For that reason I am disinclined to buy anything, let alone a high-end smartphone, that includes the Beats label.
personally i have beats on my laptop and i can tell you it is amazing. it makes crappy headphones sound amazing. By the way beats audio isnt the headphones that sound amazing, its the hardware. thats from personal expirence though so please dont get on my ass about saying that.
Have that software on my Sensation it adds a beat more of bass improving general sound, nothing else
Can it do anything a good eq can't do?
Sent from my SilverBullet 'HTCDesireZ running CM7'
Had the chance to listen to music on the Sensation XE ... nothing spectacular ... slight improvements on the bass and the music itself seems more balanced ...
voodoo sound.

Its an overhyped glorified EQ/Dynamics tool.
Its really starting to annoy me.
If people demand such "high quality" then why are they listening to poorly encoded mp3's on a phone in the first place....

Cm7 does have the dsp manager. And yes you can enable or disable beats on your phone

Since you are from India...i will advice you to play this app through Wi-FI.
Playing it on 3g might not work.
Minimum connection speed required is 2mbps
and recommend is 5mbps

oh well dude...we are in 2012 already and more over you are from developed country, still you are downgraded with 1 or 2 mbps connection? you got to be kidding me =/
Yeah sounds like a brilliant idea outsource your storage space to an unknown third party and you can maybe play your game when the conditions are right (wifi, 4g ect) and if you are lucky depending on your plan you won't get charged extra for it. MEanwhile if the server goes down or if they decide you have breached their terms and conditions you can get banned.
Heres an idea How about you "Download" "your" games to your device and you can play them at any time in any conditions FOR FREE!. seriously why have a phone at all? why not just carry around a dumb terminal with a big screen basic wifi and 3g/4gcapabilities and let some obscure server do ALL your data processing elsewhere?
THINK OF THE BATTERY LIFE!!!... (dumbserver for morons idea copyright hungry81. Patent pending.)
What are the benefits to this? Watch your friends play a mobile game? WOW! be able to "rent" a game when you can get the whole thing for $2.00? play against other people, despite the fact you can do that already?
Seriously the morons who fall for this crap ruin everything for everyone else. I can store my OWN data on my OWN devices. I do not need to help someone else make a profit by storing my data for me. People already rely on "The cloud" too much without this crap, honestly its just lazy.

Best over the ear headset?

I have a kicker set that I got for $50 and they are awesome...and come with a replaceable cord.
i was gona make this thread but i did tons of research and it all depends on how much you want to spend and what you want them for read reviews and even try some out if you have the chance. reviews are always 50/50 they still help though because someone elses con may be a pro to you or the other way around. one other thing i learned about headphones is that they make some that are open so check into that. closed is the route i will take when i buy mine in a couple weeks

Hate to be the buzz-kill, but re-sequencing loops from a sample library, does not a musician make..............
Anything with you actually playing an instrument ?

There is a difference between playing an instrument and producing music. You are saying that all techno/electro/dubstep/dnb/etc producers are not musicians if they don't play an instrument?
Just to add, I don't consider myself a musician. I do it just for fun.

Musicians play musical instruments, and I even include electronic stuff like drum machines where you at least need a sense of physical rhythm. If you use a keyboard and mouse then you're not playing an instrument at all so you're not a musician. Doesn't mean you're not producing music, but you're sure as hell not playing it.

No, not really. It's just that the manner in which you sequenced the samples doesn't really constitute an artistic statement, equivalent to that of a "Music Producer."

I have to disagree with you there. There's an almost infinite number of ways that you could layer the samples, have key changes, tempo changes. It's all expressive and therefore it is artistic. Bare in mind that a guy laying out a few hundred slices of toast in a cuboid shape was once on show in an art gallery. It's that subjective!
Also once you've finished laying out your tracks, just selecting a master volume and clicking "render" makes you a music producer. Does it make you a good one? You can't possibly say from just that statement, but you have produced music.
