Hey guys, do not flash the OTA update manually with CWM, it bricked my tab an will most likely brick yours too.
Make sure your tab is stock 3.0.1 and wait patiently.

To clarify, I'm taking about the OTA zip from Google, not the cwm backup.

Is this what I should do:

Tbh it's not such a crazy thing to think that the OTA was ok to flash with CWM.on the galaxy nexus that was fine to do.
But I learned my lesson and I'm starting to understand the reasons why

Just wondering if anyone has had any success in unbricking their tab yet. I was reading through old forum posts and there was a thread where fricorico had flashed a transformer rom and couldn't load fastboot or download mode. He said that he managed to get his tab into apx mode and could then eventually get the tab back up and running.
I can't post a link because I'm on the xda app but our forum isn't too big to find it and try. Also, not sure what or how to get into apx mode though so this post may be literally useless to most people. But maybe someone knowledgeable will remember something as a result.

hey OP, i followed your video last night and after a few unplugs, task kills, etc. finally rooted my device.
i also followed your step to not flash CWM when rooting, but realize I might want to do that now. is it just as simple as plugging in the device again, then changing the option to CWM and clicking Root in wugs tool?
TIA.

That is a fantastic question. I will attempt to do this and get back to you with a response.
I have always rooted my phones after their warranty period has expired. I was waiting to do this with my N7 also but I see the toolkit had the option to return to stock and relock the device so I assume there is no warranty issue. Also rooting has come a long way and gotten much simpler than 1 to 2 years ago when I was rooting my G1, think will be rooting my N7 this weekend

Hi. I recently bought a Motorola Atrix HD. I am a new Andriod user. I came from ios but I saw jelly bean and made the switch. I don't know anything about root or installing ROMs. I do know the Atrix has a locked bootloader and that means it is hard to customize. I was wondering if anyone could show me step by step on how to install ROMs root and more. If there are any videos for the Atrix that would be helpful. I would also like to know how to install BataKang. Thanks
Sincerely, n00b

Installing the jellybean leak is simple, but more complicated if you want to be rooted on the jelly bean leak. Here is the guide I used to do it, worked great
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976956
If you are already rooted on stock ICS, pick up the guide in between steps 10 and 11 where it says "Edit: Neroga's post about retaining root is easier to follow." and work your way down.

It looks like your command prompt can't find adb.exe, best guess would be that run.bat isn't being run from the same folder as adb.exe!
1) make sure you extracted "motofail2go_windows.zip" so that you have a plain folder called "motofail2go".
2) make sure you double click "run.bat" from the motofail2go folder
-possibly try right clicking on "run.bat" and selecting "run as administrator" instead of just double clicking... not sure if this is necessary but it can't hurt!
I'm not good at explaining let me just get you a screen shot ...
Before you do those steps:
1) make sure drivers are installed
2) connect phone to computer via usb cable
3) enable usb debugging
4) leave your phone turned on, sitting idle: locked or at the home screen ect.
God bless
Oh, also did you do what it said to trigger the bug report? Triggering a bug report is a normal part of the procedure, it prompts you to generate a bug report even if it worked fine. After completing the bug report it should continue the rooting process.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THAnk youi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't worry. The Nexus 7 is almost unbrickable (can't break it by messing with the software).
You should definatly root it, and when you get the knowladge of what you are doing get a custom recovery, and flash a new ROM, maybe a theme. Trust me you just got a device running android. It's never ending fun. :highfive:
Here you go. http://xda-university.com/.
That site will help you learn what you are doing.
U can try wugfresh toolkit. That's what i used and has the instructions with it. You will need to have adb set up. there video on YouTube showing steps to set it up with the nexus 7As for roms i have smoothrom installed u can change your theme with theme manager. U can download the themes from playmarket or on the xdA website.

Woah! Is that a brick? Nope. You can still go to the recovery partition and reflash a different kernel. Or you can boot to the bootloader and use fastboot to flash a new kernel. If you were bricked you would never be able to use your device again.
