I do have 200mb of data on my plan, running Mosaic 8, and up until recently everything was fine
I primarily use wifi, but the day after Christmas I saw my data stopped working...
If anyone has any suggestions to get it working again, I would appreciate it
Try: Settings, wireless and network, mobile network settings, access point names. Then hit menu Button and reset to default.
May wanna try flashing a modem, or a few.
Thank you very much! I figured from reading around it might be something with my APN, but I knew little about that subject. Plus, I forget to try pressing the menu button on the settings menu
But thank you for your help, the "default" and a reboot fixed the issue!

Well i dont have a data plan and only want to use wi-fi when available. Should i delete the gprs settings or is there a program to disable it. I ask this because im afraid of it useing the internet and not wifi. Is there a way to do this. I tried and searched no results
thanks
Do the following to remove any data connections, other than wifi
Do the following..
Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks >
(CHOOSE YOUR CONNECTION FROM THE DROP DOWN LIST).
Choose the one you want. Example MEdia Net
(After Selecting)> Edit > Click and hold on the item next to radio button (example MEdia Net).. when the popup screen (similar to windows right click) comes up click on delete. Then do the following. >> General Tab > Click the button "Delete Settings".
Repeat the steps for other items listed on the drop down list...
NOTE - You cannot delete settings for My ISP & Work Network. Which is fine.
Hope that helps.
P.S - If you ever need the settings back again.. run the Connection Setup Wizard again

Or use Modaco Nodata, which allows you do enable/disable in 2 clicks.....
Bookmarked.
I do it every time I flash, but I always have to re-figure it out.
Thanks!
wow, search could have told you this in no time flat.
I used to have a regular poo poo samsung phone with that irritating buttonmin the middle to connect. Every time I accidentally pressed it, it would try to connect, and I would cancel immediately. Much to my dismay, I still received connection charges just for trying to connect. Fed up, I called ATT, told them my situation, and requested the ability for my ACCOUNT to use internet be blocked--since I didn't appreciate 6-10 bucks in connection charges (sinceI didn't have a plan). They removed it (not just from my phone no., but from all phones on my account) , and anytime I pressed the button, the connection failed. Upgraded over to a tilt, with the same sim card, any media NET connection fails, since any connection is disabled. Ofcourse, removing the bloatware really helps.
Use Modaco Nodata. I am a wifi only. Here @ work, and @ home. So, no data really needed.
I have NO data plan and its the 1st thing I install. It has NEVER allowed any data, and its a toggle. No other setup required.

Wifi does eat batteries though.

I believe the KasierTweak app has the option as well. Of course if you had just searched in the first place I'm sure you would have had your answer several hours ago.

ONLY ONE way to Disable Media Net (AT&T)
The ONLY way to disable Media Net from At&t is to call them and get a WIX block placed on your account. The downside to that is you lose the ability to send/receive picture messages; regular text messages are fine.
I've tried changing connection settings, band settings, etc...
I've tried turning off 3G.
I've tried NoData.
My Touch Pro 2, WM 6.5, keeps connecting to Media Net.... Until NOW, when I had the block placed on my phone account.
I know this is an old thread, but I've been doing intensive searching on the matter, and this page keeps popping up; so I'm posting to let anyone else who's looking know.
IF ANYONE OUT THERE COULD DEVELOP A PROGGIE TO FIX THIS, I'D BE MORE THAN WILLING TO DONATE FOR IT!! (And I'll bet many others would, too!)
I currently have something on the phone not allowing 3g access. I can't seem to figure out what it is, but I believe I narrowed it down to an App. I did a wipe and clean rom install and 3g was working fine. I did a titanium backup restore of all apps with data and now 3g isn't working again. Anyone know of an easy way to pinpoint what is blocking my 3g? I tried ending all tasks in advanced task manager, but I'm guessing the phone would need a reboot to bring back 3g?
Have you check you settings-wireless & networks-mobile networks-use only 2g networks?
ya I tried using only 2g network, I even tried researching the network and it finds tmobile in the settings. I even went as far as getting a fresh sim card prior to wiping the phone. Somehow after an app/data restore from titanium back up, tmobile internet no longer works still. It's why I wiped in the first place.
1) Double check your APN settings in settings > networks > mobile networks
2) In dialer, dial *#*#4636#*#* > choose phone info > scroll down > verify that 'set preferred network type' reads WCDMA preferred.
3) Also in settings, make sure you didnt set 'use 2g only'. Same location as #2 above
Thanks for your help. I actually just did a nandrestore from an image I had that was a week old and internet came back, so it has to of been something I done within a weeks time. I just hope I don't end up hitting the app that stopped it, if I think it was one, because thats the only thing that makes sense to me.
I have your same problem could you be so kind as to attach the img you put so I try too? thanks

Then you will have his phone.
you mean....?
i Think i have a similar problem... I turn 3g on and after half an hour i cannot access the internet anymore... The sign in the notification area shows the "sent arrow" blinking but the receive arrow does nothing... I have apndroid to control my 3g usage... I unistalled it, did a reboot but again the problem persists... Do you have anything in mind???
I forgot to mention that the exact same thing happens with 2g network as well

When someone does a nandroid backup, it backs up all the data on the phone. All of it, if you restore it to your phone, you will be logged into google as him, you will have all his contacts, messages, settings etc. If one of you downloads something, it may download on both machines. The only way to fix it would be to wipe both of them.
i have the same problem. two days ago its working fine. i just turn on turn off the wifi and it just works again.
Can also try turning the airplane mode on/off. This problem occurs if you use APNdroid or similar, or toggle mobile connection on the Desire ROM.
tired of trying and try to wipe, reset, several rom, so I decided to send it to HTC in England ... and the problem is which has the bootloader unlock my ...
so im leaving the country in a few hours and taking my G1 with me, been looking at solutions to effectively disable ALL mobile data, without affecting Voice. basically i'll be using a PPD SIM and dont want random data charges munching my minutes.... all sense roms have this option built in, but heres a few problems, 1.5 has no nav in maps, and i plan on using it over WIFI, 2.1 sense is just too batt hungry and unstable to possibly wind up lost in a foreign country where i speak 0 words of the native language.
from what ive read APNdroid doesn't quite do it.... is there any way as root i could effectively "break" the data connection?
or alternatively does anyone know of SoftBank in Japan offers ultd Data for PPD SIMs? if so how much? and any ideas weather i'll be able to get 3G or only EDGE with my T-mo Radio
try dialing *#*#4636#*#*
then "Phone information"
menu button
"More"
"Disable data connection"
Do the same to turn it back on.
id read about this fix as well, however it appears it doesnt hold across reboots, ima be here for a couple weeks, i need a more permanent solution...
is there no way to physically remove the drivers that control the mobile network via ADB or maybe pull it out of an update.zip before flashing?
I think the option below it is "disable on boot". You could try that.
change the APN settings, or get a program called quick settings from the market. either way is a quick fix.
the set on boot option will reset its self after the WiFi is cycled... and of course without data i'll be using wifi as much as possible.... so far APN droid has served me pretty well, however i've still cought glimpses of that 3G icon, so if anyone has any ideas im all ears
i remember some early Haykuro ports that had improper Radio drivers and had no data connection, so if anyone knows what files those would be thats really the key im looking for
bump/update
the only time i see it trying to pull data when the APN is disabled, auto sync is off, and bkgrnd data is off, is in one of 2 cases, immeadeatly after i cycle off wifi, i see the 3g icon for a split second, and sometimes when im in Market uninstalling something
ive come to the conclusion its probably easier to just leave WiFi on and not touch the market unless ive got a WiFi signal, but now its almost a matter of i know that theres got to be a way to do it (seeing as with Root, i should be able to "break" just about anything) and its eluding me....
if anyone has any clue as to what files control the data "drivers" or whatever, im sure i can take it from there, just need a push in the right direction (or directory, lol)
Go to APN under Networks and just delete all the APNs.
Alternatively you can make a new one with bogus information and select it.
... did you even read my post.... that was my first try, days ago...
Hi....(I am new here)
So what happened was I factory reset my phone before upgrading it to froyo. Now everything seems to be working in order, making calls, receiving texts, wifi all good. But no data internet (3G or 2G). The phone was rooted before and installed a lagfix (OCLF ryanza).
I have tried settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks and tried all options there and rebooting phone several times but nothing worked. Please help. thank you.
Take a look at your APN settings, mine disappeared. Press menu then restore if it's blank and they should come back!
it worked.
totally missed that one.
thank you.
I tried enabling mobile data in my Samsung Galaxy S plus, but no 3g indicator poped up. So i checked the apn settings and I see that no settings are there at all.
I tried making a new apn settings or even make my provider send me the apn settings themselves, but the settings won't be saved (the list remains empty!)
Any solutions for that?
That's what i'm saying mate. Although i hit save, the list remains empty...
Hi.
Same situation happened to me on my Samsung Captivate (googling solutions led me to this post!).
I think I was able to get my 3g issues to fix after I toggled airplane mode on and off. After doing that, the 3g label showed up on the menu bar, and I had 3 options available to me in the APN settings. Also, the Data Usage tab began to show stats for Data, and not just wifi.
TRy deleting or replacing the "apns-conf.xml" file found in System/etc.

I would do that also just to be sure, but i haven't rooted the phone yet and I hope I don't have to (although I will sooner or later )
I would not know why it is like that, maybe someone more technologically-savvy could figure that out. haha
Just make sure to toggle airplane mode everytime you reboot your phone, because this "fix" is not permanent
will have that in mind fermata_. Thanks again
