Volume keys skip music track on ICS - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
Before i begin, i wanna apologize if this question has already been answered, i'm new and not so good in searching.
Anyway, before TeamHacksung's ICS i've been using GalnetMiui, and a mod called Skip Volume Track, which basically changed the track using longpress of volume buttons without lighting up the screen.
There is a similar feature in PlayerPro music player, but it lights up the screen which won't shut down afterwards because of the contact with my leg through the pocket, so screen just keeps being on.
Do you have any suggestions, mods, advices or aplications which emulates this feature?
Thanks!

As of now there are none. Wait for the full implementation of CM9. Maybe that would bring some new features.

Then we wait. I just found this news, so maybe that feature will arrive with it:

much needed here, too!

Headset / Lockscreen Audio Controls

So after putting this issue on the back burner for a while I'm bringing it back up.
For a long time I had both the headset controls and lockscreen controls for audio working fine on both the stock rom and CM 5-6. Using both the iPhone headset and the Skullcandy Full Metal Jackets with mic/single button control. All was working great with the hero music player, pandora, grooveshark and last.fm.
At some point (around release #142) of updating the CM 6 nightlies both controls stopped working.
Fast forward to now, I have been running ASOP rom running 2.3 and just the other day did another complete wipe and installed CM 7. Still with a complete wipe of the phone and re-installation of these roms I don't have any control of the audio apps either by the headset or the lockscreen controls.
I've tried apps like headset button controller and other sorts of audio players but none work.
Now another note, I just tried debug mode in 'headset button controller' and it's recognizing all my button presses. long click, double and tripple clicks.
So, there's something with the commands not getting to the player apps.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated, it's a major pain in the ass when working out or riding the bike to have to stop/unlock/go to app... just to switch a song.
Have you tried long-pressing the volume up or down buttons while the screen is off?

yeah, I have that option set in the CM settings but that just raises and lowers my volume.
To add some info to the issue, I've been trying some alternate music players to no avail. So I'm figuring the problem has something to do with the os not passing the input commands to the audio apps...

Well after another cclean install I stopped the Google auto restoration of apps and started adding my apps back manually and found the problem to be with stitched radio. I'm going to send a message to the dev so he can fix the problem.

[APP] Link Ringer Volume to Notification Volume

In case other people were sad about the missing feature of linking their ringer volume to the notification volume in some roms...there's another app that has been around for quite a while that will do this for you.
It's called "Quick Settings" which will not only let you do this, but has some other nifty features worth checkin out.
Although I have recently switched over to Continuum (and am happy that this linking feature was brought back to where it was originally ) and it may not be useful to everyone, I thought it's worth throwing out there in case other people were still looking for this feature. The app is also tied to a long press of the search button.

[Q] Music Player - Long Press Volume To Change Track

Hello,
Can't find any option / thread that talks about this, on the SGN.
Is it possible to change tracks (next / previous) by long pressing the volume keys (either on the phone or on the headphones)? How? Third party app? Which?
I'm running ICS 4.0.4 LRG with SGS3 Music Player patch.
Thanks,
I don't think there's a system wide option for that in stock roms. It's present in CM9 and other custom roms.
You can however use it with PowerAmp on any rom, you need to enable it in the app's settings though.
+1 ^^
Its a mod, So it wont work with the stock music player, Theres a mod for it in the themes n apps section.
It also works with PlayerPro (what I use)
EDIT: Theres a few apps on the play store what might help, some are free some are paid https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...kPDICg&usg=AFQjCNHvRei_nrOsfmAxgPVXuIgOYQbBvw

I have installed Poweramp Music Player (Trial) but it seems that the long press is not working on the note. In the options I can only find options for the headset and, even enableing that, doesn't work. Maybe it doesn't work with the Volume rockers on the device itself, only with headset (I don't have here my headset to test).

Can you pinpoint me to the thread with that MOD? I've searched and couldn't find it.
That app is just for headset, also. I would like to use also de volume keys on the Note.
Its actually part of RocketROM, Its the tweakbox app that allows this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654838 But it only works for headphones, Why would you need to use the phones volume keys ? Your obviously holding the phone so you can just touch skip on the lock screen
And the soundpackage Mod with beats and walkman music app is https://dl.dropbox.com/u/69014495/SoundPackage_RocketRom.zip
Also, For your poweramp issue, To skip track you need to double click the play button (if you have one? I do on my beats headphones) Same applies to the stock music app too i believe (havent used it for a long time)

Well, I don't always use an headset with keys and its easier to put the hand in the pocket and long press the volume to change track than take it out, unlock the screen, go to the player and skip track.
Anyway I'll test tonight the original headset with the buttons, and PowerAmp.
Thanks.
haha when you put it like that I guess it is

[Q] How can I set the volume buttons as media controls?

In some CyanogenMod-based ROMs, holding volume up or volume down while the screen is off, and music is playing, will skip to the next or previous song. This is very useful if my phone is in my pocket and I want to go to the next song. But right now I'm using CivZ_Multi_Flex (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219353) which is based on stock, and doesn't have that feature. I'm wondering if there's a way to add it, so it behaves just like in CyanogenMod.
I also asked this not a long ago, got no answer. I don't think it's possible, only with media players that support that function.

[Q] How to change the music lockscreen button function?

I have my s5 mini for just a month and when I started using it, I was really pleased with the lock screen when playing music. There was a play/pause button and forward and back button. With the forward and back button I could swap between songs. But about 2 weeks ago the function changed and the forward and back buttons are now used to change the volume. This is really disappointing because I can simply change the volume with the hardware volume buttons on my phone, and if I want to go to the next or previous song, instead of just simply doing so from the lock screen I have to unlock my phone and do it there. Is there a way to tweak the settings of music lock screen? I have gone through all the settings and I don't seem to find anything. Please help!
I don't know how to return them back, just to say that I have the last firmware and the buttons are still present and work, so it will probably be related to some setting you made.
Did you make any changes to the music player or something like that?
(btw did you know that by double clicking the play/pause button on headphones you can skip the song also)

Well, I use Rocket Player. It's definitely the best music player I know. And yeah, I know about headphones (with Rocket player I can even go to previous song by clicking two times and go forward by clicking three times) but still I would love to have this function on the lock screen too. I have changed the settings of Rocket Player to fit my personal preferences. But I have never changed the lock screen buttons settings. All I have found there in the settings of Rocket Player is the look of Lockscreen and I have tried all of them, nothing changes the function.
