Will we be able to use USB Tethering with our Milestones, or is our locked Bootloader gonna say NO once again?
Native Usb tethering works fine on Milestone since September (CM 7.1.0-RC15), thanks to mot_usb kernel module by Skrilax_CZ.
So I just conect Milestone to my Mac with the USB Cable and i am ready to go? Should I use an Application? Until today I've been using Wireless Tether app.
Thanks for clearing this up Pavel.
Just plug the cable in and enable tethering in settings (Wireless & Networks -> Tethering) and it should work out of the box. At least on my ubuntu laptops, dont know about mac.
Will the Linux Version work with ARM?
Since the Linux version needs to be compiled (i.e. running " ./configure " and " make " ) for each machine that its run on. Wouldn't that mean that it would work fine on an ARM machine, since it is configured for the individual machine its running on? Or am I misunderstanding something here?
Thank you for any info you can give, and God Bless!!

Anyone can answer me:X1 boot Andriod usb connect to PC no driver??? I use Andriod PC display need install XDA dirvers? Anyone can share me this driver.tks.
As far as I know the drivers will still be in git tree for the kernel, and they were turned off in builds for some reason around May 2010.
Even if they were removed you can recover them by going to the correct time in git and checking out that branch.
http://gitorious.org/+kovsky-linux-msm/linux-on-qualcomm-s-msm/linux-msm-xdadev or a number of other branches.
I assume you want a USB TCP/IP network, this was working under Linux to Linux. I did not succeed in Linux to Android, but that does not say it cannot be done.
use Linux/Ubuntu OS - No Problems with USB ))) or u can run VMWare and run port of linux and usb will work too
You must use the SDK-Windows Drivers..
You can install from the Android SDK (you must select-> USB DRIVER).

I try to connect my HTC Touch with my PC; windows 7 x64 but nothing happen
computer doesn't see the phone. Tried in recovery mode but doesn't connect. always loop with something like:
"usb: set adresse 2"
"android_usb gadget: full speed config #1: android"
etc
any help would be appreciate.
Since I do not have phone plan and want to use it as a personal agenda I really need to be able to sync it with my pc
thanks alot
Did you flash this phone to a newer kernel? If I recall, the .32 version kernels do not allow USB connectivity as of yet. You'd have to go back to a .25 kernel (and update the modules after flashing) in order to get USB working again.
Good luck!
hmmm sorry i'm a noob but...
do you mean the "windows kernel" or linux one? (android)
I use the step by step guide to install android (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636024)
I made this update too: http://www.htc.com/ca/support/touch-telus/downloads/
thanks for your help
Android.
Your .32 kernel will allow you to connect to a Linux PC, though, I connect mine to a 64-bit Ubuntu machine regularly to add music files.
Ok it work now with another NBH file...
ok, it work only in Recovery Mode
and since I wanna sync my outlook with Jorte I need to get USB in Android
BTW My astro doesn't work? Like if it was a demo.
is there a way to share the internet connection on a pc to our samsung galaxy mini?
via usb i mean
sorry, my english sucks..

I want the same app or way but for Linux (Ubuntu and Fedora Particularly ^_^).
for linux you can set up hostapd + dhcp3-server
- From PC: using the usb wiless and a software as the same Connectify/TPLink (goto connectify.me) to share internet
- From laptop (include wifi card): using shared ahoc wifi (your phone must be rooted) or install Connectify software to share internet
Hi Friends,
I am new to Android Development, so i created a simple app in Eclipse using ADT (On Ubuntu), now i want to deploy it on my Samsung Galaxy Note (ICS 4.03)
I have created the app using the correct api version (15), however i am unable to see my connected phone as a target to run my app on.
Upon further investigation i ran lsusb to check if my android has been detected, however i cant see the phone anywhere in the list.
I have set the USB Debugging Option.
My Question is, how do i detect if my android phone has been detected by Ubuntu, i can see that the phone is charging but how do i check if the mobile is ready to receive data in the form of apk's for deploying the app ?
Thanks,
Abhishek

Nice! Working for me
Please help
Clockworkmod Tether used to work on Kitkat but not anymore on Lollipop. Could you please help?
I'm sorry but why are you still on developer preview?
Thanks for asking. I am not on developer preview. I have lollipop 5.0.2. Do you have any ideas as to how to get wifi tether to work?

Step 1 Enable Adb
Step 2 navigate to where you have ADB installed
Step 3 Run ADB shell
Step 4 Run settings put global tether_dun_required 0
Step 5 Type Exit
Wifi tethering works for me on the Nexus 5. This should prevent your carrier from seeing tethering usage until the next android update of course. You pay for data and have the right to use it however you want to I think it wrong for Google or carriers to tell you differently.
Thanks Napster!
I got it to work while your message came in. It was the Avast antivirus interferering with the way Clockworkmod Tether on Win 7 communicated with Clockworkmod app on Lollipop 5.0.2.
Could you please let me know how to operate the ADB Shell? Where do I download it?
I wholeheartedly agree with your last statement. I'm on the magenta company based in Seattle, WA and thankfully they havent bugged me about it, but I want to stay under the radar, so I would like to implement your suggestion
