[Q] Issue with Samsung Battery Charger Stand - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got one of these today:
http://www.expansys.com.sg/samsung-holder-and-battery-charger-for-galaxy-note-5-3-224726/
I bought a spare battery as well and wanted to use this stand to charge my drained battery while using the charged up one.
Is anyone else using this? I charged the battery using the stand, the LED light went from red to green after about three hours. So I assumed that meant it was fully charged (100%).
However when I put it in my phone, it only showed a 95% charge. I tried it with another battery, thinking there might be something wrong with the battery, but same thing.
I'm bringing it back to Samsung tomorrow, but wanted to find out if anyone encountered the same thing?

Dead Battery?

The battery in my SGS will not charge. I have had the phone since September and have had the phone replaced in December, so the phone is 3 months old, but the battery is about 7 months old.
About a week or so ago the phone started to not charge well. It would take upwards of 6 hours to charge from about 50%. Last night I plugged the phone in and again, it took about 6 hours to fully charge and the charged tone went off (it woke me at 5:15 am). I unplugged the phone and within an hour the battery was down to 38%. I had it charging in the car for a couple of hours and it did not charge at all even though the charge indicator was on. When I got home I plugged it in and turned it off and it has been charging for a hours now but the battery will not charge at all.
My phone was on stock JL2 with the SpeedMod kernel, but I flashed it back to stock JL2 with the stock kernel when I got home.
Any ideas? Is it normal for these batteries to die after about 6 or 7 months? How good or bad are the batteries sold on eBay, the ones where you get two batteries and a charger for about $10? I'd hate to have to spend $40-$50 bucks on a new battery. I paid $500 for the phone and have had a lot of problems with it.
Thanks for any help,
Ian
Try to wipe battery in CWM. I hope it will help
I did wipe battery stats and it didn't help.
Maybe you can try this:
1) full wipe first (factory reset and flash new).
2) charge until full
3) use until it shutdown by itself
4) charge full again
That's what I would try before buy anything

The battery will not charge.
Battery will not charge try another battery to see if its the phone the charger or the battery is your only choice .

Thats a genuine battery .

What is the voltage range the SGS works at? My battery reads 2.99v. Should the phone still work at this voltage?
*Edit*
Well, I made a desktop charger from an old cell phone charger, a couple of brass nails and a block of wood. I charged the battery for about an hour and the voltage now reads 3.14v. I would presume the phone should work at this voltage since the normal voltage is 3.7v and 3.14 is less than a 20% drop.
I guess it's my phone that is no good. It's back to the service center for me.
Thanks,
Ian
Am other idea: You checked the charge cable?

Anyway, I stripped the wires on an old charger and connected it directly to the battery pins on phone and bypassed the battery and the phone boots, so I guess it's the battery.
Does anyone have any feedback on the eBay batteries. The ones you get two and a charger for around $10?

Battery Stuck at 50%

Anyone else having a similar problem or know of a way to fix it?
It takes a *while* to charge. Mine just hit 60%.
We shall see, been charging all day... anytime i take it off charging drops to 40ish%
Im using battstatt and it drops by 10 percent.....90.80.70 im gonna let thr battery die completely before charging and see if it changes

OK, I just saw this in another thread too... mine has maxed at 60%. Gonna le it rest, shut it off over night and put it on another charger. See what everyone says tomorrow!
Seriously guys, charge it from an outlet. It charges *really slowly* through USB.
anyone else go through the initial charge, recharge and have it at 10% 9 hrs later?

10 hours total on 4G? That's not terrible.
Charge via USB that is connected to your PC takes forever...but it does charge.
But if you unplug it and charge via the power adapter, it is much faster.
i charged mine via usb and the wall socket, wouldn't go past 50%.
I went to bed and plugged it in to teh wall charger (charge for ~7 hours), checked when i woke up, 50%
went to the verizon store and they gave me a new battery (started at 50%). plugged the phone in 2/3 hours ago, im still at 50%
my dad mentioned it could be a bad fuel gauge chip (he works at TI)
So for whatever reason, you have to use the charger that came in the box. I've had the same problem, but it was because I was using chargers from older Moto phones and HTC phones. Now that I'm using the actual Bionic charger, it's charging fast like it should.
Silly, but it apparently is the case.
I bought a wall charger that you take the battery out of the phone and charge.takes 2 hours with xtra battery 15 bucks mobiletech

From what I've read about newer handsets, the phone needs some time to figure out know how to convert raw readings into percentage of capacity. I believe, the phone figures out how much charge a battery has based on the voltage. And, I don't think the relationship is linear.
My battery seemed to be horrible the first day. Today, I've gone through 30% after 5 hours, with the screen being on for 35 minutes and wifi connected for just under two hours. I don't know if the battery is "breaking in" or the phone is reading the level differently, but things are looking better.

Bad battery????

Hi everyone, I need help finding out what is wrong with my Hero before I throw it out the window!!! I am having HORRIBLE battery life. I can unplug it and it's dead within 30 minutes at times. I am running the latest CyanogenMod 7 (GingerBread) 2.3 on the C Spire (Cellular South) network. I have recalibrate my battery to see if it would help but no change. I have also changed chargers but no change. I have checked to see if there is an app draining it but nothing is draining it no more then usual. This has been going on for weeks and when it started happening I had not changed anything on my phone. It just started happening out of the blue. Now I am having bigger problems out of it now that it is having trouble even getting a charge. For instance, when I plug it in sometimes it will charge and sometimes it won't. Sometimes it will start charging then stop. Like I said, I have changed chargers so I know it isn't a bad charger. Also the biggest problem now is that when I do get it to charge, it won't charge past 86%. It will stay there til I unplug it then it will drain down to 60% within 10-15 minutes, so now I can't even recalibrate the battery now to see if it will help. I thought well maybe my battery is bad but when I check the battery health in the settings it says Good. I do not have another battery to test it against. I also have freezing problems. Somethings it will freeze up and will not unfreeze. I will have to eventually take out the battery and reboot it. Then if I don't let it set for a little bit after I reboot it and I touch it during that time, then it will freeze again and I have to reboot it again. I really LOVE my phone, I have had it for a little over a year now! I have never had any problems like this out of it! PLEASE HELP ME!!! THIS PHONE IS DRIVING ME CRAZY NOW!!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
Anyone? PLEASE!
I just tried my sis in law's battery and no change. She has an HTC Hero also.
$5 on Amazon
Or
After a complete drain, Charge while its off overnight then turn on but into recovery so u can erase battery stats. Then reboot
Either way I'd still spend the $5 and u can probably find free shipping for black Friday.
U can also try a ROM called hero deck without adding anything. This ROM rocks on the battery life. Then for giggles put it in airplane mode with wifi off to see if it drains...
Good luck
V's CDMA Hero
It will not charge while it is off, that is another problem I'm having.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
It is not the battery cause I put my battery in my sis in law's phone and she played on it forever and the battery did not drain and it also charged fast. I put her battery in my phone and it drained fast and would hardly charge, just like my battery does in my phone. So it is not a battery problem, it has something to do with my phone. BUT WHAT?!?!
Just to rule out if something didn't went wrong during flash of CM7. Try a different ROM and see if it same issue.
I did, I tried the ROM vidaljs suggested. Still draining my battery!
What charger ru using?
Is it different than ur sisters charger. That could be the problem.
I use a blackberry charger that has the same power output. So verify that the wires are not damaged and if it's not the hero charger then verify the proper power output.
V's CDMA Hero
I have used HTC charger, Blackberry charger, and Garmin GPS charger all with the some result, slow to no charge. The main problem is it draining too fast. Last night I unplugged my phone, which was on 40%, walked next door to my sis and bro in law's house, which is about 100 ft away, when I walked in their house it was on 11%!
Any suggestions?
Well if u visually look into the female plug on phone.. does it look damaged?
If not perhaps it may just be damaged in another way.

It looks fine. I had a Hero before this one and the charger port did break but this one looks ok!
Well I have kinda solved my problem! I have the cable to my charger pulled tight and taped to the side of it and it is charging now, but it take literally all day and all night for it to get a full charge! It still drains FAST when unplugged! This still does not explain the fast battery drain and how it still won't charge on other chargers that I know work! Oh well, C Spire has a Holiday Sale going and I can get a Samsung Galaxy S for FREE, plus my $65 replacement fee since I have only completed 20 months of my 24 months! So $65 for a Samsung Galaxy S sounds like a good deal to me!!! This might be one of my Christmas presents from my hubby! I might get him one too! Gonna miss my Hero though! Good times, good times!!!
Right on.... ur issue still bugs me when j think about... but a new phone compared to the hero is awesome. I got the nexus S 4g last week for free except for taxes and activation and it is awesome.
So the galaxy does sound like a great plan and gift
Good luck

[Q] Phone completely dead, without doing anything

Last night when I went to bed, the last thing I did was to check if my alarm was set, which is was. The phone was in no weird condition, working as it was supposed to. I left the phone with the charger plugged in over the night.
Then I woke up this morning and couldnt get the screen on. First I just thought it was a SOD, so I removed the battery and tried to reboot it.. but nothing. Phone wont boot neither normally, in recovery or in download mode. Even when I connect the charger there is no activity on the screen, completely dead.
What could have happend? As I said the phone worked just fine last night and noone has touched it over night.
I was running paranoid android 0.3, with the kernel that is delivered with the ROM.
Any toughts? I have ordered a JIG from ebay, and im gonna try and see tomorrow if my friends JIG will work on the note, his JIG is for Galaxy SII.
Any reaction when connection it to a pc?
Or do you have a friend with a Note? Maybe you could try with another battery. I would do that.
/CK
No reaction to a PC, will try with another battery this weekend when I see my brother who also has a Note.
Seems weird tho that the battery would just die like that?
If I don't remember wrong, it's not a good idea to let the battery run dry depending on what rom you use. If it runs dry you cannot turn on the phone and the phone won't react to charger.
I would try with your brothers battery and see if there's any reaction. Or do you have a charger to directly charge the battery?
/CK
The battery was on 10% when I went to bed, with the charger plugged in.
How do you charge the battery directly? I could check at work tomorrow with a voltmeter and see if the battery is drained or not.
I checked my battery at work today with a voltmeter to see if it had any juice in it, turned out to be completely dead. 0 voltage.

Hey. I just had this issue today. I thought my phone got bricked without doing anything. I was using it then 10 mins later it won't respond when i took it out of my pocket..
I had about 80% battery when it died this morning. I tried to boot it to recovery or download mode but nothing....
I finally tried using my bro-inlaw's battery but still nothing...
I blew my battery contacts and pins... Removed the sim and sdcard then placed battery back.
Tried turning it on normally... It did! My battery was at 59% when it finally turned on..
I'm on PA v0.4 with white gnote unit.
I think it may have been the unit acting up, not the rom.
Any thoughts?

I checked with my brothers battery yesterday and the phone started without problems, also plugged in a charger and it was charging as it should.
Must have been my old battery that just went dead?

it could be the cause with your phone, but for me, no, because i'm still using the same original battery that came with the phone. and it's working without issues now.
However, I did a clean install of PAv.4 after it started working again just in case.
Weirdest thing happend, I tried to charge the phone again last night and all the sudden it worked.
So now I have two new batteries traveling to me from China that I no longer need

Faulty battery or faulty phone hardware?

So, a couple of weeks ago I went to bed with the Note connected to the AC charger while listening to music when sleeping. I woke up the next morning, only to find an EXTREMELY overheated phone that wouldnt boot or charge. Went to a local electronincs store and it turned out that the battery was dead so I ordered a new one. (Original battery, identical to the previous)
The first day of using the new battery I ran in to some strange behavior, the screen started to flicker as if the phone was running out of battery, the only problem was that there was atleast 30% of battery left. I have been experiencing the same kind of behavior ever since. The phone suddenly drains the battery, precentages increases or decreases when not charging, or the battery is suddenly empty at 15-40%. When I left for school today my phone was 100% charged, when I came home it was probably 50%, I listened to some music, after a while it read 15%, and before the song I was listening was done the phone started to flicker (as usual) and then turned off. I connected it to my PC and charged it for about 30 minutes, and when I turned the phone on the battery read 50%?? So basically I've experienced pretty wierd battery behavior all over.
The screen flickering has occured before when using low quality charger with battery stats at ca 1%, thats quite normal i guess?
I haven't been using low quality chargers on the new battery, nor did I under the incident that killed the previous battery, however, I've been using an original Galaxy SII charger with a 0,7A output, should be totally fine right?
I'm out of ideas what to try, I've tried to delete battery stats after a 100% charge numerous times, no change. Havent seen any battery drains from the battery monitorer. Currently using MIUI Vengeance CM9, havent experience battery drain earlier with this rom.
So what do you think? Battery, phone hardware or software?
try to clean the battery contacts at the back of your phone also clean out some dusts or lints on your usb charging port. Charge it back after to 100% and see if your still getting the same problem.
The same problem still occurs, thanks tip though.

It's unlikely its hardware related, but get a replacement battery from somewhere preferably stock, they're not expensive. It's not hardware, most likely duff battery.

Finally bothered to buy a new battery (again), and so far the battery life seems to be all good!
I guess I was just a bit unlucky by having the orginal battery break, and then receiving a faulty battery after ordering a replacement A series of unfortunate and confusing coincidents
