Hello there!
I have a Note on the way, i am just wondering if you had advice to give, good screen protectors, cases etc, just really anything you think would be useful for me to know!
Thanks
Oliver
Well, If you are really a phone dropper as I am you'd better buy a one of the Zenus cases http://www.zenuscase.net/galaxy-note.html
No I'm not a big phone dropped at all. Although reccomendationfor good looking case are welcome!

WOW!, Just been into a local phone shop and played with a demo note model, even more excited than i was before, pictures and such just dont do it justice!
But seriously, is there anything i should be wary of!
also what is a nice, protective but fairly compact dairy type case for it?
and a screen protector that wont take away from the s-pen?
Thanks Guys!
My first case choice was the noreve posted in the accessories area of the note forums. But noreve does not accept discover or paypal so I ended up going with Zenus, which there is another thread about in the accessories forum.
This device is very thin and has a large glass surface, so getting some sort of insurance on it is probably a good idea.
As far as screen protectors, anything that you put on the screen will slightly alter the input, but I just decided to go with a protector with good reviews on amazon and I am pleased with the fit and clarity, and the s-pen still works great. Don't remember the brand, but it was not steinheil/sgp, although i hear their ultra crystal protectors are the best.
Thanks, i have got insurance for it, hmmm, i'll have to look for those threads and i'll have to look atscreen protectors aswell.
Thanks!
i would tell you to add a good screen protector and if possible go get the Samsung leather case for this..
In India presently they are giving it for free with the phone

Does anyone have suggestions for a good case with a belt clip? Also, who makes the best screen protectors?
Come on now, somebody talk to me.........
In my opinion the BRANDO Workshop protectors are by far the best - I've used them for years now on many PDA's from my old SX45 (Cassiopea/Phone clone), through A920/A925/A1000, then onto my XDA Exec and now my Ameo.... they have two styles, Ultraclear and Anti-reflective... one is clear as glass the other is smooth and anti reflective but not quite so good out in sunshine.. you take your pick. They can be removed and washed too and put back if you feel the urge!
As for the case!
See this thread now active about the Tuf-as-Nuts case. I have one and it is fine.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll check out the screen protectors.
Looks like there's nothing even close to the Nutshell leather case. Its awesome.
Also, who makes the best screen protectors?
Boxwave is another one you Can take on and off and wash. It comes with a shammy cloth and schmoosher. It comes in crystal clear and clear touch. It has only been available for the Athena since Oct '07 as I was the one that sent in the sizing, whining to customer support after buying a couple other name brand protectors and being dissapointed..
who makes the best screen protectors?
Specifically. 1 tried Brando--
Item Code :SAGSP030400
Item :BW PDA Screen Protector (HTC Advantage X7500)
And I still have the reciept to prove it. So I know whereof I speak, though everyone has their preferences. Didn't like it (brando) or ppc tech for that matter, quite as well as the (cleartouch) boxwave one.
I still love my Nutshell case, well worth the cost.
So, are there any good cases for the N7 that can be bought in the UK? I want something that doesn't add too much bulk; I prefer TPU/silicone cases that cover the back (Like the Switcheasy Colors series for iDevices). Also, does the screen even need a protector? I'm very nitpicky about scratches so if someone could help me out that'd be great.

The screen is scratch resistant, although it still can get scratched - so I would say get a decent quality screen protector for it. You can get a silicone case off eBay that's shipped from the UK that is similar to the Switcheasy stuff.
Only thing is I'm not sure which screen protectors are decent to be honest. I don't want another ZAGG one.
I'm keeping an eye out too.
I hate all the thick, fake leather, chinese ones that cover round the bezel.
Anyone know of any good screen protectors that can be bought in the UK? I like the wet apply ones but the ZAGG on my iPod had a little too much 'drag' for my liking.
Best skins ever you can't go wrong quick shipping as well us though.
Those XOSkins look really nice but I believe they're US only as well
I've got the terrapin dry application screen protector and the S line gel case (in clear). Both are widelty available on eBay UK for next to no money. All good
Hi. I got my nexus 7 32GB fo Xmas and i am really happy with it. But i need a case and screen protector, especially the case. It must be slim, and with stand/sleep function. Dont need anything more. So the best case would be similar to ipad smart cover for me. It must be an good quality product. And not so expensive
I need a screen protector too, as i scrached my galaxy nexus so badly, at i dont trust "scratch resistant glass" anymore. So i dont want to do the same thing to my tablet. Screen protector must be an good quality product.
Well, i can only buy from ebay. As in Denmark i can't see some screen protectors or cases for my nexus.
Price - max 35$.
I could choose case my self, but i dont know if they are good quality. Same for screen protector.
So i ask in this forum, at maybe you bought some of these cases, and how is quality of them.
So please, help me choose.
Thank you!
If you want a case similar to the smart cover, go buy an iPad mini and a smart cover. Problem solved
If I helped out, hit the thanks button.
There are plenty of types of case for the nexus 7 out there. I found that the main 2 are the silicon cases that cover the back, or the PU leather ones.
Now, I bought a PU leather case from a seller in China through AliExpress.com and it was fine; seller is a bit slow at dispatching it, but it gets there fine.
I bought mine with a stylus and screen protector - stylus is top notch, screen protector isn't very good at all (ended up buying one from eBay)
The company also sells just the case, which can be found here
You can look in his store for the other product (the one I bought), or click here
Case quality is very good, no problems with it. Just make sure to firmly close the tab inside it so that it doesn't move about. Can also expect a chemical smell for a day or two.

Yep, I heard these are junk. Boxwave posted their entire stock of accessories discounted on Slickdeals website. There are hardly any reviews about these screen protectors, and whatever they have on Amazon is rated low.
I will like to have my own opinion on their quality. I will gladly pay 3 dollars for that

I went through half a dozen of cheap ebay screen protectors from different sellers hoping I will find that diamond in the rough Didn't happen. I even tried premium ones, like Spigen. Now, I'm on iSmooth and appreciate it more No matter how many reviews you read/watch, you make the final call on what you like!
I think a diamond in the rough is tech armor. I really like it and Recco it. I an a sucker for good deals on screen protectors though.

So, if you found tech armor to be the best, why do you continue searching for other ones, and I assume testing them out? I'm in kind of in a same boat, went through a bunch where some were too thin, others too thick, some left s-pen marks, others had annoying rainbow effect, and some didn't stick as well. Now, I settled on iSmooth and don't want to remove and reapply anything else. Even with my last "final" install I didn't clean up phone screen 100% and probably left a tiny area around home button oily where I see sp didn't make a good contact (my fault). But I just don't want to rip it off, clean the phone and re-apply it again. I too love good deals, but don't want to keep reapplying new sp. Now, got UAG case on order and that one comes with its own screen protector which some say is a good quality. Plus, Scott/JLG mentioned in another thread he will be coming up with dry install sp... It never stops lol!!!
I like screen protectors. Cell phones and screen protectors are my hobbies. My favorite one that requires soap water is phantomskinz and I have tried them all. I just got into these dry installs a I am very impressed. I like to test them out and I keep going back to tech armor
one quick question, does this sp cover the whole phone, or leave a few sections such as top or bottom.
alas...the code is no more..
There was a problem

Hi all
I just ordered a Note 2 and, by all the comments on cases around here, I wonder if I should hurry to also get a case.
But the point is: is it really necessary?
- A case makes this big phone even bulkier.
- A case can compromise ports access, external audio quality and the gps/nfc/... receptions
- A good case can cost a lot of money
- I won't find a case around the corner (at least, here in Brazil). I must buy it online, maybe pay for shipping and wait for like a month for it to come to me.
Hey, I don't want to be critical to the ones who feel important to use a case. Just want to start some discussion here
My point of view:
I'm retiring an old Motorola Defy. It has never used any kind of case or screen protector and its condition is quite good. It is always in my pocket (a lot of times sharing the space with a bunch of keys) and it has fallen to the ground some times, from like the pocket height for instance.
I know the Note 2 is a different phone, so thats the point of the question. I've never had another Samsung phone, so I may not have the right idea about the durability of it.
So, I'm looking forward to your thoughts and experiences on using (or not using) protective cases for the Note 2.
I would prefer not to have one, but I would mostly get one if this really happens that Samsung did a fragile phone and it is important to get external protection.
100% need a case. I got my note 2 weeks ago and bought a genuine Samsung case which is skim anyway. Protects the screen and back from scratches. Plus no case makes it slippery and one drop will mean destroyed phone. Good luck mate!

Hi Brayden87, thanks for the reply.
I've seen the samsung case on the Note 1. It really is slim.
It actually is so slim I wonder it really does protect the phone. Would you say it can make the difference upon a drop?
This is one I would like to get... probably easier to find too.
For the love of god get a case. I have a cover for that it a back plate with a leather flap that goes over the screen, and a screen protector. My wife has a full case for hers.
I dropped my. Screen smashed. She drops hers a few times not one scratch.
After I get a DIY new screen off amazon. Im buying am otter box. (Rogers send broken screens to samsung and costs $280. Or a DIY is only $16)

Hi plugsmustard.
Very interesting experience. It seems that this phone is really more fragile than my Defy. I don't doubt that, it is so much larger and thinner, it looks like it may brake easily. Its just that Samsung should be salling a phone that is fairly resistant to the day-to-day misshapenings...
But these otterbox are very expensive and would have to find a retailer that ships to Brazil. Can I trust Ebay sellers?
Isn't it too bulky?
What are the least requirements for a good protective case?
Note 2 size is big so I do not want case for it. Only a carbon back cover for better handling and protect camera. When bezel is scratched, I replace it for 5$. Perfect way for me .

You can purchase knock-off Otterbox cases from eBay, as well as others such as the Griffin Survivor case (fake, but still provides great protection) Casemate Tough and the Urban Armor Gear Note 2 case, etc.
Above-mentioned cases have been thoroughly reviewed by the one and only Vectron, and are viewable here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192333
I got the body glove tpu... slim and sexy. Dropped my phone about 4ft high and didn't get any damage. Of course could be just luck. Phone is big and slick without a case. I would get a slim tpu type of case if you are worried about bulk. It gives a little more protection than naked.

For the love of all that is good and holy, get a case. And you don't need to go crazy buying an expensive one or waiting forever for a HK distributor. I own a bunch of cases because I love to swap 'em out, but my go-to case (and one of the least expensive cases I've bought is the Duzign Sentinel from from eBay that I got for $7.00 from a seller named senyx. The auctions are non-stop and I often see them ending at the opening bid of $7.00, like when I got mine. Shipping is free and the seller is in CA, so you get it quickly:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Duzign-Sent...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item20d25bad89
It's been discussed on other threads, but this one has a cool H.R. Giger alien look to it, offers awesome protection, and it has, in my opinion, the best TPU inner layer of any case (it's got a nice thick lip to protect the screen of your Note 2 in case of an unlucky fall). Heck the TPU is a great case by itself, and the outer shell comes with a kickstand for horizontal viewing. the Sentinel is identical to the Cruzer Lite Spi-Force case which sells for about $20. Just don't get the black/white as the white does get dirty pretty quickly. Mine is black on black and besides my UAG and bamboo cases, it easily gets the most compliments.
That is my .02 . . . hope it helps.
Not that it's particularly delicate, but it is particularly expensive.
If you don't buy a case, I expect the first bit of damage to trigger a new thread "Scratched by $600 phone! Damn!"
Hi everybody.
Thanks for all the opinions. These Duzign Sentinel do seem quite robust and not that bulky. The looks are quite odd (comparing to the original sober looks of the phone) but are not that bad...
That is the kind of price I would pay without feeling that I am paying a lot to have a bulkier phone.
I wont bother much if the bezel gets scratched. My main concern is the screen integrity.
I do have one year warranty (which I do not know if covers external damage :/) and, if something happen, I could always go DIY to try to fix it. The biggest problem would be the phone become useless for weeks :/
I do agree that it is important to feel safer with such expensive phone.
At the other hand, is hard to believe that Samsung, which is leading against Apple in such quality fight, still delivers such a fragile gadget and even dont provide a reasonable protection option as an accessory. That is very awkward.
Case-mate Tough seems very nice and is found at US$ 10.99 on Amazon. Too bad it doesn't ship to Brazil.

Any other suggestion of worldwide retailers? Ebay?

Haha . . so true. I know it's dorky, but I remember my grandmother always telling me: "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Well, in this case, a $10 case is worth a $100 deductible.

Actually cheaper through Case-Mate because shipping is free if you have Amazon Prime. This other seller requires a $3.99 surcharge. Still, $14.64 is a good deal. Returns or problems would probably be handled much better through original retailer, as well.

Good question. I had the flip case but it sucks and I dropped my phone twice and got two nice dents. I ordered a simple case for like 5 bucks just so the back doesn't feel slippery and what not. I do not use a screen protector, it'll be fine.
I bought the seidio active case and a glass screen protector before I even bought the note ii. This is a very expensive phone, I wouldn't use it and not buy some kind of protection. Seidio has an updated case call surface case but it didn't work with the glass screen protector cause the inside hard case would rub against the screen protector and push it up.The active case work great it's very slim and has a holster. Well long story short, I dropped my phone many times and nothing has broke or cracked. My job is physically demanding and its easy to bump or drop. Alot of my coworkers has cracked screens or has broken there phone.

I think you're confused with another case, I have the protective cover+ and it's probably 2-3mm thick. Adds barely any thickness to the note 2 and looks awesome. Cost me $30. I didn't want a big case and this one is perfect for me. Covers everything you want covered.

Very interesting indeed. And very nice looking bumper btw. This metallic bumper wouldn`t interfere on the device antennas?
I will consider these as well... I wonder how they compare to full body cases such as Duzign Sentinel, Speck Candyshell or Case-mate Tough.
I didn't feel like I needed a case at all. Till I dropped it. Twice. The rear cover went flying and so did the battery. Phone held up flawlessly, but i didn't like the flying parts. So I bought a cute Incipio case from androidcentral.com
