I usually share my Internet connection through Connectify and my HD2 had no problems connecting at all. However I am unable to detect the signal even on my Gnote. Does anyone else have this problem?
Make sure there is an access point when u connect using connectify.

Well, I've been using WMWiFiRouter on my mogul for a few weeks now, but I switched to AT&T because I am relocating to Fort Lewis Washington and Sprint doesnt have service out there.
Anyways, I installed it onto my Tilt and it connects and says everything is fine, but when I connect to it on my laptop, I dont get the internet.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I dont even know where to start.
Thanks in advance
i have a similar problem. i have an old netgear NE102 with open/disabled encryption and static assigned IP. my Kaiser will see it, connect to it. but i can't ping anything on the network. i bought a brandy new netgear, and it seems to work (haven't finished the switch over yet) i got one screen of google before i had to shut it down..
I dont really understand how that is similar... But that's just me.

Pshew *whipes brow*
Has anybody gotten this to work on an ATT Tilt?
No matter what I do, it just refuses to work. I used to use it all the time on my Mogul.
But the problem used to be that I could connect to it on my laptop, but wouldnt get internet. I gave up on it for a couple months. Now I go to try it again and I am not even picking it up on my laptop at all. I just don't understand.
Thanks in advance.
Works perfectly for me, although I'm on a cooked ROM.
So am I. Still nothin.
hey can u tell us whats going on exactly?
My wouldn't work on Qmobile 1.2 but does work on L26... Go figure.

It's in the first post. I am not even picking it up on my laptop.
Bear in mind the WiFi signal is a 802.1b connection instead of the more recent 802.1g so make sure your laptop is searching for both bands.
Also, try and see if others can see your wireless network.
Does anyone know if this follow scenario is possible?
I want to connect the phone up to my computer via BT or the USB cord, and then the phone will connect via WiFi (802.11b/g) to a wireless router. Can this be done?
Thanks in advance.

Yes. It can be done with a program like wifi internet sharing. I have not used it myself, but NRG has it in his newest rom. You will want to link up with the usb cord because anytime I have wifi and BT going at the same time (internet wifi and BT headphones) there is a conflict. I have also heard that it isn't a great program, but you can find out for yourself. Hope that helps.

Here ya go!
I have to say that it does work. Im using NRG latest Energy rom, july 29, and i can share the internet from my fone to the laptop through wifi and connect the laptop to the internet. basically the fone works like a router... or u can also connect and share internet through usb... it seems to work just a lil bit faster.
I'm not sure how else to explain this. I'm NOT looking to use the cell phone's data plan. I AM looking to use the phone as a usb wireless (802.11b/g) adapter for the computer.
Anything like this?
The Wifi internet sharing is attempting the use of the data plan (no good for my situation).

use WIFImoster...
its wifi to usb mode is awesome. it will try to pick up a free hotspot first, but you can manually connect to a wpa/wep secured network and then launch it, works like a champ everytime.

u can always try to "obtain" a copy of wmwifirouter
This is just my opinion. It might be wrong!
If you've a computer that can connect to your cell phone with Bluetooth.
I'm quite sure that the computer must have Wifi function also.
Why you want to do some easiest thing to be much more complicated!
@navi_mapper:
Not always; I've seen some laptops with a Bluetooth only card, a WiFi only card, and Bluetooth/WiFi combo cards.
It likely the purchaser may not have chosen a combo option or the laptop came with Bluetooth only. Worst case, the laptop may have shipped with a legacy WiFi device and is too costly to replace.
Cheers,

PC Desktops rarely have wifi on the internal mobo. Also, I want as many options as possible with this phone. It's the best yet!

Note that there are early versions of WMWifiRouter (up to V.91, IIRC) still available that were released without encumberance. While it might not be Chainfire's preference, it's not exactly discussing "warez" to use an older version. Granted - the person you're cautioning seems to be insinuating that you get a cracked version...
I recommend paying for it, though - the supported paid version is a lot more reliable (and you can actually uninstall it without borking your network setup). It also offers a very nice USB-to-Wifi interface. I think the free ICSControl offered elsewhere on this forum does the same (USB-to-Wifi), but in my brief experience with that program it was not as reliable as WMWR.

Thanks. Didn't know that about the older versions of WMWR. I may save up for the $30 that it'll drain my treasure horde.
wifi router not seen by some computers
any ideas why wifi router works on some of my computers but not others. I am using it right now, but my computer downstairs does not see it at all. Have same issue at work some computers see the wifi signal some do not. Seems to be a windows security setting? Works great on computers that see it.
is it only for windows? if its possible for mac, is there anything that has to be downloaded? thank you in advance...
bump. any help is appreciated
Yes it does. I've personally done it with my iMac. No additional software needed.

Just to make sure, you've got it enabled in your phones settings right? When I get home ill take a look at my mac to see what settings I have enabled.

Im terribly sorry, I feel like such an ass. Turns out I confused the USB with the Wifi Tether. I mixed up what I did with my PC and my Mac, sitting right next to each other. But here is what I found.. did a little searching because I lead you on.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416912
Theres a couple programs that might be able to help you accomplish this. Might as well give it a shot.. but if it doesn't work out tethering over wifi is what I use.
Sorry again, mate.

Read this you need to set your APN for data connection to work, you can put any name and APN type Internet and it will work or follow this
and view this you don't need to wait for answers, if you know how to use the search button.

What I was talking about was non data connection troubles but hotspot trouble
Data works BUT just on the mobile, when I try to use it as a router (through hotspot) other devices can't get any data, but data still works on the mobile...
I've tried to get information about this trouble but didn't find nothing ...
Hope you can help me

No problem, the devil is in the details, its because you don't explain, what your problem is, XD members might just feel, that hey the answer is out there and you need to search for it.
Hotspot may not work on all devices, so try using a compatible maybe Android Router ver 2? ( have not used them, so you need to test it out) or any of this, IF one is not working , try another. most likely for routers to function, correct setting must be in place and clients must be authorized.
