[Q] Upgrade the android version for xperia x8 from 2.1 to 2.3

hi.....I have Xperia x8 with android 2.1
Is it possible to upgrade it to 2.3???? If possible,then plz tell me how can i upgrade it.........

It's possible but only with upgrading to custom ROM (xgin, racht's ROM's). No official 2.2/2.3 ROM for x8 from Sony Ericsson ;(

You can use xgin, racht's roms, kuyaDroid etc. They can be found in the development section.

there are some broken functions. Pls read the log in every ROM.
e.g
So far camera in all 2.3 ROM is just VGA.
If you want 3.2 mp camera, you have to go for 2.2 (like froyobread, floyo etc)
p.s. if you can find ROM with 3.2 mp camera, please let me know.

yes u can upgrade it..but not officially though..i recommended using kuyaDROID (android GingerBread 2.3)..but the only thing is the camera..only works with VGA quality..anything else works fine.. ^^

Why? It's smooth (like CM6 in menu scrolling, flinging, it's not choppy like other GB roms.)
And wait for v4 (it will use FreeXperia WiFi libs and GPS fixed)
Also if u are familiar with FroyoBread it will have all the special features included.

GingerDX v17 or GingerCruzt r7.4 actually are both good choice to upgrade X8 at 2.3.x, but FroyoBread 023b (with android 2.2.9) is another good Rom!

GingerCruzt instead of GDX because its more stylish and it has that Stock SE style.

I've installed GingerDx v019 and it's working great for me. Just I can't install alfs kernel . When i go to the flash tool it says turn on USB Debbuging and Unknown resources ,and when i do that it says it again...
Anybody help?

Yiu need to unlock your bootloader first, than enable those settings in Settings.

hey all,for me it is minicm9 and ICS nAa kernel.it is a little buggy,but if you look it is the second version released,it is goddamn good.games work great,swap to 128 mb,and oc to 690 MHz.love it

Use MiniCM9
Active developer, Good performance, Not buggy. Updates always available.
But if you insist on GB use MiniCM7, Development stopped but it is a Release-Quality build.

everything is great at my phone,but at the repair shop they didnt mount the graphics card right so anything that needs 3d has screen shutters all over the screen.but minicm9 has more beautiful gallery and it doesnt require 3D !!!!

Wanna ask, what's the best ROM for nAa-11 now in your opinion? I used GingerXperiaRay V004 before, but then cannot change the default launcher (360 launcher). Then I try Xperience V4.0, but when I install widgets, it doesn't show in widget option. Are there any suggest for better ROMs than these? With overall functions of course As for now I still use Xperience ROM but already back-up both ROMs. How about ROMs based on Cyanogenmod 9? Any recommended ROM available now?

I was testing GingerXperiaRay V004 for some time too and I could change launcher without any problems Don't know why You can not.
From very long time I'm using iROM. First was iROM v004 on top of nAa kernel 8b and 9. But know I'm using iROM v005 on top of nAa 11. It's MiniCM7 2.1.9 ROM with better look and some changes. For me it's great

Of course it's MiniCM7-2.1.9 download it from the official site for cm

I thinks GingerXperiaRay really smooth,fast, but it still have some problem about Status bar because it based on MiniCM 2.1.8, i hope nobodyAtall will fix soon and GingerRay will have a good version 5

If you want cm9 based rom then there is Paul's ics. But for everyday use minicm

For me PrimeM1 with nAa 11 with home launcher nozomi everything stable and fast...
but wifi or usb theter i dont know coz i dont use them

Yeah, PrimeM1 and nAa 11 work well together.

Well the best roms are 2 for me PrimeHD M1 By HAKA and MiniCM7 by nAa cuz allmost all roms are based on it

Although there are some bugs:
1) USSD not working, but when you install the "fix", then messages are not working (this is what happen to my gf X8)
2) wi-fi tethering (I don't use it and I didn't tested it, although there is a fix for that too)
3) FOR SOME: wifi. I said "for some" because I think it's working afterall but many people might have done the same mistake like I did. After installing the rom, wifi was working ok, but I noticed Android system taking more than 50% of the battery, so I wiped the battery stats and the wifi stopped working (this means that you can connect to the network, but you cannot browse the web, it will not load any pages, etc). Now, after reinstalling the rom again (maybe the 4-5th time), wifi is ok but still no fix for USSD AND messages (together).

My personal favorite has to be Xperience v5 deodexed..
It's fast, very fast.. Games are far smoother than any other rom i've tried..
AndroVDR works perfectly so I can stream my livetv and satellite to the phone..
Calls are clear, wifi great, data great.. I must say I'm impressed with the quality compared to previous versions which i found to be really slow and clunky..
There are some great roms here, I've tried nearly all of them, but a few stand out above the others.. Xperience v5, PrimeHD, CM7 2.1.9 and S-Rom..
These, in my opinion, are the best roms for the nAa kernel..
For the best experience with ANY rom start with a clean sd card..

[Q] GingerDX Go Launcher Ex problem

Hello, I installed GingerDX v19 on my phone. It was everything ok for a while but then I started to have issues with GoLauncherEx... it crashes and I have to terminate it. Also, its getting slow... is it cuz this ROM is not good for my phone?

No, it's because Go Launcher ex is heavy for our phone (that's what I think..)
You should know though that everyone's phone is different so I see all kinds of launchers preferred..
I'd suggest Launcher Pro since it's the only one that I have kept all this time, with minimum amount of problems.
I have GingerDX 19 as well.

Dude just use supercherger v6 ...afrer dat u will not get ny lags,waiting.or anything while going to ur home screen.....even u can enjoy multitasking !!!
Search the forum for supercharger v6....someone has given a visual.tutorial also on dis!!!
This will resolve all ur problem on lags ... Nd it is sureshort u will not face nd difficulties on doing anything in ur phone

I have GingerDX v22 Alfsv8ICS with Adreno Libs and Go Launcher Ex works wonderfully, even with "heavy" themes as MIUI for CM7. Try updating.

but i do not like the graphics of gingerdx , i know it is fast but dot like the theme
can u provied the link of best arc launcher with stock xperia icons for gingeredx???

I use third party themes (LunarUi, SEsify, Miui for CM7, UpwardSpiral's themes, GingerBlur...) and i dont get any lag at all, and combined with Go Launcher, GDX looks pretty much like Arc Rom, except Go Launcher doesnt lag. Arc Launcer does.

clear data in cwm and reinstall games

You can use easy task manager app to clean cache. And another suggestion to u for installing a light custom rom for gaming like gingerdx, kuyadroid 4.5.4,fde4+

I have tried almost 7-8 roms on my x8....ginger xperia is till now working bettre for me...
Suggest any other rom with gingerbread with stock kernel only as i dont want to unlock my bootloader

hey bro,
Just clear all the cache's and do a full wipe (atleast 2 times) when u install new ROM
If the problem still persists, get a light and faster rom or even flash a good custom kernel! (as u said u have custom kernel)
Try GingerZaraki, FDE +4 or even GingerXperia has got good performance with games
and for a good performance and fps, OVERCLOCK ! best is 729 Mhz (remains stable)
