I'm looking for larger dialpad buttons? I've seen a lot of crap all over the place which is more of a piece together and there is always SOMEONE posting with bad news... such as "can't uninstall it" or "smart dial doesn't work" etc...
Is there a fully functioning (even if I have to pay money) keypad (dial screen buttons) with big buttons on it?
Thanks in advance!
try netcom smart dialer 2.5 - not free
There is another called reTOUCHed_Dialer2. This has much bigger buttons and easier than the built-in layout.
I am hoping somebody will have one with a different skin, though. The straight black keys are not my thing.

The reTOUCHed Dialer can be "skinned" (and I've seen a few). If you look at Dutty's planned no. 7 rom that dialer will be in it, and it will have blue/green buttons. I think Schaps' has it with purple.
Basically the dialer mainly consists of graphics for the backgrounds and buttons. You just need to edit all of them in an grapics program and you can modify it to how you want it.
Here's the cab for the standard Touch looking one.
Hello all,
Is there any way to add an application button on the dialer skin, that could be launched during a conversation? For example, one could launch Vito Audio Notes directly from there, instead of having to go through Programs.
Unfortunately, Topaz does not have hardware buttons to map them and have a direct launch from there, so the next best thing would be if there was a way to add a software button on the dialer skin...

Regarding Vito, I was advised to use Calls Autorecord, so there is no need for a specific app launch button. Still, it would be interesting to know if there is a way to mess with the dialer buttons and map them to run an app.
Does anyone know of a keyboard app that will display a software keyboard while the physical keyboard on the MT3GS is extended? I am hoping to find a keyboard app that would display a number row and maybe a symbols row on the screen to be used in conjuction with the physical keyboard to make typing faster, so as not to have to mess with the function button. also it would be handy to have a software question mark key to be used as a temporary workaround on some of the ROM's on the forum that don't have all the keys on the keyboard working yet.
Wth.......... I don't think they have an app like that but I understand what you mean

Hello XDA'ers,
I am wondering what the reason behind why the buttons (camera, power, green, red, etc.) in Android on HTC Vogue map to the various tasks they do? For example, the camera button is back, but why not the red button? Is this something hard set in Android and cannot be changed or did someone specifically set it up this way for a reason?
Secondly I am wondering if I create a new "keylayout file" (source.android.com/porting/keymaps_keyboard_input.html) or modify the default one in /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl will I be able to change the mapping of these buttons?
Compared to the Win Mobile mapping, they button layout can take some getting used to,
but once you get used to it, it's actually a very cool layout, especially if you are right handed.
You can hold the phone in your left hand, and use your thumb to access the settings 'top button',
Use your ring-finger to always back-out or end an app
Green button for phone / initiating calls
Red button to end a call, sleep mode, or power off
I wish the d-pad had more use, but I'm always using the stylus, so barely use it.
Would love for the d-pad center key to maybe be the main power-off button.

I completely agree the current layout is a very cool layout indeed, but as I imagine most people on here like to tinker it may be interesting to know how to customize the button bindings.
I am not sure if its just a matter of changing the button layout file.
I looked at that qwerty.kl file in the android.tgz
It looks like its just a mapping file, and if you change the mapping, you change
buttons,
but doesn't that mean you're just re-mapping the button itself?
Not re-mapping its functionality?
I.e., if you remapped the camera button to the d-pad center, for example, then
the d-pad center would do all functions the camera button used to do,
and the camera button would do any functions the d-pad center would?
Seems like you'd actually have to change more code than just the .kl file?
i wrote this application for polaris, and with simple changes you can add the vogue setup...
Hi All
Currently Im using ICS Stunner - Beta 3 ROM...
My issue may sound funny but i need to know while messaging how to go to the next line (something like enter so that i can g to next line) as there are no buttons present.
I didnt find this enter key in most of the ROM's (Phone UI versions)
Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
There's an arrow...it's the last key (bottom right corner). Confusing indeed...as it doesn't make any sense, but that's the one you want to use.
but i have a smiley key right bottom last key
