Hello everybody.
As said in the title, my question is :
With Amoled, is it possible to have a lit dead pixel ?
Thank you for your answers.
Have you tested on your phone for dead pixels ? or just speculating ?

Dead pixel means permanently unlit.
Stuck pixel means permanently lit.
is there any way to fix stuck pixels?

By running an app such as Pixel Curer or Dead Pixel Detect and Fix located here:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.xllusion.app.pixelcurer&feature=related_apps
Or
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.htc.chris.blackspotdetect&feature=also_installed
Though removing the dead/stuck pixels is not guaranteed it's worth a try running the above programs.
The only other alternative is buying a new screen.
Best of luck.

I am speculating because I'm planning to have my screen changed because of banding issue, but I would not like to have a stuck pixel on the new screen.

I personally would not risk it....bandings are not as bad as dead pixels.
Dead pixels, sure. But I wouldn't expect an AMOLED screen to be able to have a stuck pixel, in the traditional sense. It it had a pixel that stayed on, I would expect that to be an electrical issue, via a short somehow causing a pixel to get charge when it shouldn't. Stuck pixels on LCD screens are essentially a mechanical issue. The apps that fix them do so by switching those pixels rapidly until they get "unstuck". There is no mechanical action to an AMOLED screen. If a display somehow had a pixel that was always lit, I don't see how any app could fix that.

Banding is generally a software issue, not a hardware issue.

Only had the phone for a few weeks. I see one minor blue dead pixel. Kinda of hard to notice but my OCD caught it.
Anyone else experience dead pixels?
So because I have one does that mean that more will come? :O
Guess I'm the only one?
I've had one dead pixel but I don't even notice it anymore. Maybe that pixel was reborn lol.
If you're lucky you might be able to return it and get a replacement.

Explains how mine sort of fixed itself.

Download jscteenfix from the market. It may help get your pixel unstuck. Good luck!

Sweet; I'll try it out.
I don't have any dead pixels, but I have a minor screen defect that is similar to what a stuck pixel looks like, but it is only visible from certain angles and under certain lighting conditions, so I decided to live with it. It kind of looks like the distortion that happens when a drop of water gets on a screen, but only about the size of a pixel.
Can you run Dead Pixel Tester app in a dark room and check for any.

My first unit head a stuck green pixel. Swapped it out and got a handset with zero stuck or dead pixels.
The new handset does have a hot pixel on the camera sensor, however, but I might just live with that since it only shows up in low light shots and is located at the edge of the photo.
No dead pixels. No stuck pixels.

Hot pixels tend to disappear through time anyways same with stuck pixels. The one we should be worried about are the real dead pixels.
People tend to mistook stuck pixels with dead pixels.
Dead Pixels = Always black in color
Stuck Pixels = usually not the same color as the other pixels(Sometimes it's changing colors rapidly)
But they just fix themselves through time.
I had a dead pixel on my developer edition :-/ sending it back.

Really? I didn't know that hot pixels (camera sensor) can fix themselves. I was always under the impression that these get "mapped out" at the factory, but then other hot pixels can develop after the fact. I do recall that my Nikon D300 developed a hot pixel, however I haven't checked to see if it's gone.
Hi,
I have noticed that i have few dead or stuck pixels on my htc one camera. There are few pink or purple pixels that are shown on my screen while i use camera and they are on photos too so i am thinking that there is problem with camera senzor. Is there anyone else who is having this problem, and would HTC accept my claim and give me new headset.
Here are the pictures that are showing my problem.

Definitely a hardware problem. Set your device back to stock (unroot, S-on,..) and send it back to HTC!
interestingly, I was posting about a similar issue yesterday. However, in my case it's a bright pixel, I think, that only shows on camera app. Just make sure your bad pixels really show in pictures as at first I thought that that was my case too, until I discovered that, camera turned off, the bright pixel slowly fades away..

try to zoom in to see if pixel moving, if do means is a defective camera
The pixels are moving so it's definitely a hardware problem but i want to know would HTC repair my phone or give me a new one because i don't want unibody phone that has been opened.

Just wondering if the green tint issue synonymous on Samsung 2020 panels has continued its trend onto the S21U? Asking for a mate.

Hi.
Haven't noticed any green tinting on my panel yet. Even on the lowest brightness. There is a teeny tiny smidge of motion smearing at the minimum brigntness when scrolling dark web-pages, but that's about the only fault I can find with the screen so far.

I had the S20 (6 different devices). All had a green/red tint issue. The S21 Ultra has a much better display. Mine at least.

Yeah. One of my Note 20 Ultras was more green tintish than the other. I couldn’t stand it, the Oneplus 8 pro also had it slightly. As did the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Thanks for sharing your experience.

You can change the colour temperature anyway under display settings. If you get a display with green tint just turn down the green and up the red.

I had the screen show a like a green background for split second , does this mean the screen is starting to get faulty or is it a software issue? I had this phone since launch (for about 4 months now)

If it was a one-time occurence, it could be due to anything. Difficult to diagnose it based on a split-second incidence. If it doesn't happen again, don't worry about it. But if the same issue keeps occuring, then it may be worthwhile investigating.

Its a one-time thing for now, but it got me scared. especially since I am currently having another issue with the phone (its crashing and rebooting randomly).

I saw your post in the other thread. This wouldn't have been a cause of concern in isloation but if you add your reports of system crashes and erratic behaviour, there may be something serious wrong with your phone under the surface. Would'nt be the first time this has happened to someone (at least not me).
This is exactly the kind of situation warranty is for.
I cannot profess to know what you should do next but i can only tell you what I would do faced with your situation. And that is to head to the nearest service centre and explain the issue and ask for a resolution. If that fails, escalate it upwards.
Looks like I jinxed myself by creating this post before receiving my device. Since I got it yesterday it has a very aggressive green to pink tint when slightly tilting the viewing the angel. I sent it back. The lord taketh away green tint and replaced it with this LOLzzz.
Hi, so I recently got a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Exynos phone and shortly afterwards it started showing discoloration with green tint and lines all over after a while and would stay that way unless I leave the phone unused for a while, in which case, they would go away temporarily before reappearing a while later.
I tried using two apps: Towsemi (on Google Play store) and PWMfree (which I found here in XDA) to fix this, and while both get rid of almost all the problems ('almost', because some green still remains but it's tolerable), the intolerable part for both is that anytime I play a video, the lighting would look all Blotchy, if that makes sense. As if the video got compressed and it's quality got crushed such that there's no smooth gradients from bright to dark, but rather pixelated blacks and whites.. I'm asking if that's fixable.
Like is there another app for this green tint problem that doesn't crush image quality this bad in videos?
Thanks!

Is it stock?
It sounds like a hardware failure either display or mobo.
Is the battery in good condition?
Does it happen with the charger connected?
