hi all ,when i 1st used a rom (any rom )there must be a friggin ton of problem ..so when i updated to GDX v21 i expected trouble, so yes it's a little buggy but i fixed / the problem just went away ..so theres just one problem which is a true , but then this problem is just presistant and i can't fix it ...=( so heres's the problem , the sd(8GB class 10 ) in my phone will say it's damage please format , so i did , but then the whole phone restarts without fixing the problem , so i tried 2 more sd card a 2gb class 6 and a 8gb class 10(?) micro SD card they all started fine but then it encountered the same problem , i faced this problem a week ago and i cant fix it , yesterday the memory was abler to be read and then today it says SD card error again.WTF??? i tried factory reset but it's still there use CWM and wipe dalvik and battery stats , no resolve i cant flash cause my sd card is dead , imma using PCC to flash my phone later but is it cause of SD card problem or isit my phone sd card reader is buggy?
details
-SE w8
-GDX v21
-MIcro SD 8GB class 10
-problem -SD card unable to read (says SD card is damaged) tried 3 diff sd card but all same
-well maybe a little off topic but my DSP manager seems to lags the phone badly when i turn on equalizer for speaker
Is your sd card kingston? I have the same problem, and found out that there is a compatibility problem with kingston 8gb.
SE claims to have solved it with an update but this is for stock rom users. So not me. I don't know if anything can be done and if any of our fantastic (slurp slurp) developers could help.

Not able to confirm again ...
There's a 8GB Kingston Class 4 in my X8 which is working perfectly fine since the last 7 months (GDX v021 on Stock Kernel).
However, as there's been another one posting about SD card problems who also has a Class 10 mSD ... I would rather say the phone seems to have a problem with Class 10 Micro SD cards ... given my Class 4 and some Class 6 (if you search the X8 section) work flawlessly.

The 2GB Class 6 _should_ work, given we have some posts around where people use a Class 6 mSD successfully.
But, as I said above, I would be cautious with Class 10 mSD's as there not only yours which gives trouble.
for some reason my phone is a magnet for trouble ...
I spoke to the guy that sold me the card and he told me to go by the store and try with either a kingston 8gb class 4 or an apacer 16gb class10 (that's what he has in store). I guess i'll try the kingston but i'll be away for a week so I'll have answers next week.

Same here mate. Perhaps we shouls start a club.
haha yea...we are really poor souls =(
damn it i tried my sister's sd card ( just to confirm my problem ) i connect it to pc and all is fine ...then i click turn off usb storage and it says blank sd card ...i guess i cant confirm it's the hardware problem
Just as a related note now that I checked back...
The other guy who had about the same SD card problems was using a Verbatim 16GB Class 4. Seems as the X8/W8 is somewhat picky when it comes to the brand (manufacturer) of a SD card and the related class.
As I wrote in that post - either try the card in your phone right there in the shop (if the clerk agrees to it) or strike a deal that you can return the card in case you have severe troubles due to compatibility issues.
as always thanks BJ! you helped me so many times! so yeah i called my dad to send it to the repairman but i doubt it's the sd card problem since the other 2 i tried also failed to read ...it could initially until i restart the phone or connect it to usb then it will get the warning..i suspect its the hardware problem

Ok so i bought this verbatim microSD 16gb class4...at first it worked fine on my xperia x8...but today it just decided to not be located at all...
On my pc the card is working properly with the card reader and i tried another sd on my x8, and it worked too..but the 16gb still wont be located...i tried everything from formating it to reboot etc...i tried the 16gb one on a x10mini but no luck either...
any recommendations?
oh and the shop said that they cant do anything cause this maybe my fault
Please help...
I had the same problem with 8gb class 4.
I did like what you did.
Finally it didn't work, I returnd it back to the store.
What I understood is: class 4 sd cards are not working on our x8.
because I asked the guys here and they were answering that they have a working sd cards on x8 but with classes like 2,8,10 not 4!

but i could use it for about 2-3 days...and the same happened with an 8gb card but i dont remember of what class..
any ideas anyone?
[UPDATE]
After many experiments i found out that my card was working with thsd card adapter that SE provided once...the one that is like a usb stick...but with a MicroSD to SD adapter,my card wont be located by my pc...
[UPDATE 2]
The card is working fine on my sony ericsson yari.
also i read through the forum that others are using class 4 and its fine..so i cant see why mine wont work...come on guys..you have fixed far more complicated issues...

If the adapter you refer to is really a mSD to SD adapter then your PC would do the right thing(TM). To read a mSD you need a MicroSD to SDHC (<--!!!!) adapter.
SD, SDHC and SDXC are three totally different standards not really compatible to each other.

Then there you have your confirmation that the card is actually working.
If the X8 and X10 is refusing the card, then you may have hit a incompatibility (EDIT: that's why it is important to either straighten it out with the dealership that you can return the card in case it doesn't work or that you can try the card right there in front of the eyes of the shop dude). The only way would be to swap the card with one of another brand (like Kingston or SanDisk ... I wouldn't buy Verbatim crap).
In theory the X8 should be able to accept mSD's up to 32GB.

Question is ...
- If you're running a custom ROM ... you tried another one?
- If you're running Stock ... you tried a custom ROM?
Also ... try putting the card into a _working_ mSD adapter and ERASE the partition that's on it. Then "Safely remove" the card reader / card from your PC and put the EMPTY (unpartitioned) card back into the phone. From there you have two options you can try ...
1. Try to partition and format (FAT32) the card in ClockworkMod recovery and see if it works now.
2. Boot up Android and format the card through Android (I think it's "Memory and Storage" in "Settings")
I tried with both stock and GingerDX...same result...im going to try this and post reply in some minutes..
nothing....i tried to partition with CWM..no luck....
I partitioned it with Partition Wizard..no luck again...
pfff...why it just denies to locate it?i was working just fine :S
I take CWM actually recognized the card even at its correct size.
The last thing you can do now is to look through logcat to see if the log holds any hints about why the card isn't recognized/mounted.
You better do that through adb as it's a medium pain in the rear to do that in the Terminal Emulator on the phone.
If you find something that could be related to the issue at hand post it here; maybe the error message carries something that would give a clue.
Heyy Friends i hav this issues for last 1 month now and hav tried around three 32gb sandisk micro sd card class 4 but i m still not able to get my card compatible with my phone
Problem : I bought a 32gb sd card 1 mnth back inserted in my spice mi 410 and installed aroun 15 gb of data from pc after which my mobile started to hang continously and i had to remove battary to start it evrytime thus i thougt of formatting it in my PC (Running on Windows 7 OS) with my mobile plugged in thru usb but after complete formatting i got the error as sd card blank or unsupported file format AND same thg happend with my 2nd SD card so i search a lot on internet thru which i found that MIUI rom which i m using might b causing the problem so i tried to use the sd card with mokeeOS and other roms but the problem of FC and hangs still persist with my third sd card and i m afraid to format it nw as it might become in accessible aftr format like my previous cards
Thus i wud really appreciate any help from u guys

Bro, im having the same problem with my 16g transcend sdcard, it hangs during restart and i have to takeout the battery and restart several times to get it up again, its so annoying. ive been searching the web for solutions but haven't really found anything concrete. will let u know if i get an info.
weird. Though I've had the problem you mentioned I never lost my SD card. It always would recognise if I inserted after the phone finished booting completely. Also I was able to format SD card from the phone itself. Now I've jumped to stock and never actually faced any problems

is it possible to insert the sdcard while the phone is on, does it support hotswap or wont it course any damage??
i think there is some problem with the hardware itself my 8gb class 6 card got corrupted after a month's use. .... now using 16 gb class 4, working fine now
Sent from my MagnumHD using Tapatalk
Can't say something wrong with the hardware, using 32GB Class 4 card since a month and am on Bumblebee 101-3 and not a problem, no reboots, no sdcard corruption, I think a lot depends on the ROM also, even whyzee is on stock with 32GB card as I understand, so there's nothing wrong with the hardware AFAIK
Donno guys i think their is some problem with the hardware of the mobile as the same card work pretty fine on my frinds galaxy s so i suppose their is sum problem with hardware
will visit spice service center and wud try to check if they can solve the problem will let u all know if service center ppl r able solve the problem...:/
finally the problem is solved AFAIK aftr giving my mob 2 service center they said tat it had sum software problem which they were able 2 identify nd solve
Thus for as per me it ws a software problem and not a hardware problem...
Pls I need to know which class of sdcard works best with mi410, I had a transcend 16gig class 4 but I frequently experienced freezing n boot loops until I take out d card m let the phone boot completely before putting it back.
But its been working fine with my class 4 Samsung 4gig sdcard, but its way too small so I decided to purchase a scandisk class 4 16gig cos I thought the transcend was faulty which I tried with other phones n its working perfectly, but this scandisk is giving the same prob as the transcend n its brand new.
So I want to know if our phone has a particular class of sdcard it works with or what's actually wrong.
The problem I experience are freezing and random reboots which most times gets stuck in a boot loop, I usually have to take out battery n memory card n then reboot n wait until its done before putting the card back in.
Please any advice or idea is welcomed
maybe
maybe our device is not capable to read 16gb sd cards. i only have 8gb and i don't see any problem. are you in a custom rom or in a stock rom?
I am using class 10 16 Gig card and I am not facing any problem like freezing, not booting or random reboot.
But I don't think it is related to class of memory card, check with some stable ROM..... which has no reboot problem.. may be then only decide to go get new card

Am running mokee limited edition from ck, which is very very stable.
I don't experience any freezing or reboot with the Samsung 4gig like I said its only with 16gig class 4. And I just bought a new one the day before I posted this SOS lol.

Thanks aben for the response, can you tell me the make n model of your sdcard?
I think everyones know about this mounting problem for sg i9000 user since update to JB..it would be great for those never had this problem since upgrade to jb but not for me having this problem..currently,i'm using kingston 16gb class 10 sd card on my i9000.i don't know this could happen because after upgrade to jb,my sd card showing blank sd card on notification bar and not supported something like that.i try to format it through my phone also doesn't work.i've been try other methods to solved it including partition my sd card but, result is still the same:crying:.and today i try to use my other sd card kingston 8gb class 4 and it working on my phone..i don't know why this could happen to my 16gb class 10 which more standard than 8gb class 4..anyones can help me to solved this?plz...
nope, i also got da problem recently, dont know da cause but changing sd was da method, as for me, any 16gb any class (tried 15 different sd with same value) but dont detect on phone, change to any 8gb or 32gb, working perfectly, tried adb, usb debug, partitioning (pc n cwm), formatting n lastly hit it with hammer , n still not detecting on fone. try any option available on xda n even LvL format not working. so i decide to buy a new 32gb for my fone.

Thanks anyway for ur advise and suggestion..for me,i believe our developers will solved this problem matter how.this cannot be because of the value of memory card i think, just like what u said try with different class.because when i was on ics before,my sd card working without any problem.the problem is maybe the android system for this model smartphone.or could this happen because of my memory card still on r/w protection?huh...i'm still looking for this solution.i won't waste my money again to buy new sd card.

Hello everyone, I would like to ask for your help.
About 1,5 month ago I acquired my XT1068 at the time it was on android 4.4.4. I installed my 16gb SDcard (SanDisk, class 4) and everything looks going well.
After one week I started experiencing some issues, sudden warnings "SD card has been removed suddenly". After that error, my SD is no longer recognized, unless I put it on the computer and format it (FAT32). Over the time, the problem is becoming more common.
Motorola released the official update to 5.0.2, and after the update the problem persisted. At this time I've already rooted my phone and using TWRP in recovery.
So I though it really was the SD card. I bought a new one, a Kingston 8gb class 10, and now the cellphone instead of simply dismount the SD, it keeps rebooting every time I turn off the screen. Here's a little list of thing I've already tried (all doesn't have affected the problem):
-Change the ROM:
Downgrade to 4.4.4 Stock
The Titan Prime ROM
MicroKAT v1.0
Shohat
-SD cards
16gb Sandisk class 4 (keeps unmounting)
4gb SanDisk class 4 (keeps unmounting)
8gb Kingston Class 10 (keeps rebooting on standby)
- Apps
SD booster
Link 2 SD
So, I don't have any ideas left, I goggled e visited forum of all kinds, doesn't found anything like my problem. This can be a hardware problem? Permissions?
I've thinking, there is a way to trick the system and change the internal storage/system partitions to the external SD? Maybe this solve the problem, i don't know...
Sorry my english, and thank you in advance.
Greetings!

I don't really know. I had this problem on my previous phone (SGS+, the unmounting problem). I solved it by buying an new sd-card... But since you have multiple sd-cards with the same problem? Occuring on KitKat aswell as Lollipop? Or your cardholder has a defect or you're buying very cheap sd-cards!
Bye the way, Link2SD is a great app for providing more space, but known to be a SD-Card killer due to the very frequent writes and deletes on the SD-card while opening and closing apps.
SD-Booster? Probably is the guilty one...

I only installed SD booster one time, and as soon I realized it don't solve the problem, I uninstalled it. Yes, every time I inserted the SD card, I've formatted it on the computer previously.
