Crossbones Kernel Information:
Current version: 0.1.5
Kernel is included in ROM and not available or supported as a flashable zip.
Source Code: https://github.com/C...ossbones_kernel
The kernel that's included in the Crossbones is a customized kernel based on Google's latest source (Linux 3.0.8). The idea behind this kernel is to provide a kernel that improves performance and the user experience but keep the stability of the stock kernel.
This kernel has been tested by all members of the team for over 48 hours and everyone has had the same result: nothing but excellent performance. This kernel is not even overclockable (yet) and honestly, doesn't feel like overclocking is needed. Every new feature added to the kernel is tested by all team members to ensure it does not affect stability and only improves the kernel. Our goal with this ROM and kernel is to have better performance and keep the stability of the stock ROM and kernel. Overclocking and undervolting will be added to the kernel eventually so if you're looking to overclock the kernel, flash a kernel that lets you overclock. However, we recommend trying our ROM with our kernel for a day and you'll see how good it is, guaranteed.
Kernel Information:
* LulzActive2 Governor
* SIO Scheduler
* Fixed bug with cpu frequencies being reported to sysfs
* Set noop to default scheduler
* Google's/Samsung latest base (3.0.8)
* BFQ I/O Scheduler (Set as default)
* SLQB slab allocator (Set as default)
* LagFree CPU Governor (Set as default and our favorite)
* BLN
* BLX
* BLD
* Voodoo
* CFS Autogroup scheduling enabled
* Other minor things I forgot I as wrote this (I'll try to take notes)
Credits:
* Google and Samsung for a great base and device
* Ezeekeel for all his awesome contributions and tweaks used in this kernel
* Paolo Valente and Fabio Checconi for BFQ
* Nick Piggin for SLQB
* supercurio for voodoo
* All the other devs that contribute into this great open source community. If I missed anyone and you feel you deserve credit please let me know
Other:
During our testing, some of us preferred using no-op as the default I/O scheduler while other chose BFQ. We suggest you test and be the judge

If you read through the NS4G thread here you can see what people think of my ROM
It's a stable beast on the NS4G. I had a tester go through the GSM version last night into this morning and everything seems okay. If there are any REAL issues, please report (ex. NFC not functioning, 3G not connecting, NOT google voice isn't setting up properly for me) on this thread.
I do not own the GSM Nexus S but since it works so well on the NS4G I don't see why there should be any different or special issues.

I bet the reason why I didn't get the reply is that you accidentally replied to someone who RT my original tweet. (Twitter is a PITA sometimes). If I would have known you would have tested before release, I would have responded very promptly. Follow me @Xbones_dev
Anywho, thanks for your help and support! If you have any real issues, please let me know and I'll get on it.
Nice to have something new

i'm pretty sure i tagged you in my tweet though. but well great rom!
Just install this rom and really fast and smooth without any issue. The bfq io and lagfree is great. Just missed Chinese traditional translation but it is not important that without it thanks!!!
Edit: This rom has near 0 or the smallest delay when open anything( eg. Apps and market link). This is the best experience that i tried many other ics rom. Hope the following update will not slow down the rom This rom is near the stock ics rom( it doesn't include galaxy nexus camera sound ). I really like this because too many features may make a rom slow..No translation just english us. I think it is the one thing ppl will care
Edit 2: 3G data collection is a bit slower than other ics rom

It would be great! And plz add HSPDA+ over 3g plz Then i will never have anymore request. And if you can release a flashable kernel in this rom from the next build(included overclock) would be great too Although i think this rom dont need to overclock that from op said but a plus option is better haha

CyanogenMod is a free, community built distribution of Android 2.2 (Froyo) which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.
This version is a release candidate, but you will find it stable for everyday use.
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>

* The CM team is not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, you getting fired because the alarm app failed, or anything whatsoever.

*/
This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Visit the CHANGELOG for a full list of changes and features!
All source code is available at the CyanogenMod Github!
Send pull requests with your changes!
INSTRUCTIONS:
- First time flashing CM 6 (or coming from another ROM)?
1. Unlock/root your device - http://unrevoked.com/
2. Do a Nandroid backup!
3. Update your radio if necessary
4. WIPE
5. Install the ROM
5. Optionally install the Google Addon
- Upgrading from earlier CM6?
1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
2. Install the ROM (your Google apps will be backed up automatically)
HOW TO REPORT BUGS OR PROBLEMS?
- Was it a hard reboot? Get me the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
- Was it a soft reboot or a "boot loop"? Run "adb logcat" and get me the full output.
- Pastebin links preferred
- Please use the issue tracker whenever possible!

i know you have an update but, cant you just stick to one thread! or update your old ones like to others?
edit:
ok... i thought i was the first one to post here... but anyway. same reason....
This update does not include the Android Market. I installed the latest apk but I keep getting FCs every time I try downloading an app. Does anyone have it working?

It seems as though there's only 3 languages supported in this version .. English (US) and two Asian languages.
I restored the original version for now, will test again this weekend.

The locales were removed to streamline the ROM and free up more space according to the changelog in the Chinese thread.
so what about working gapps???
So in the Chinese thread there's mention of "google suite of services":

Google translate gives me:

Maybe there is a script for the gapps (I know it sounds crazy), try looking under something like advanced settings and look for a list of scripts, maybe it's there
Edit: just installed it but all the scripts have Chinese names so i have no idea what they do
Previous ROM had way more info and patches and this one does not (and dont forget there is no market that works)
So I'm waiting for an update from the dev with more info and Fully English ROM
谷歌服务套件不用的童鞋可以自由关闭(高级功能-脚本)有此选项功能,son机器需要先开启aufs功能
From my understanding, it seems to say:
Those who choose not to use Google Apps Package can freely choose to turn it off (through high-level command in the script) as there is such a command in the options.
S-ON phones need to first enable the AUFS command.

The NightOwl CM rom series are fantastic so I make a few kernels for myself and to give more options for Note users to play with. I am quite happy with these kernels! :victory::victory::victory:
1. Forest-M-kernel for NightOwl CM13!
2. Forest-LP-kernel for NightOwl CM12
3. Forest-KK-kernel for NightOwl CM11 (second post)
Credit should go to @bauner who has done the hard and excellent job with the NighOwl rom and kernel. I only make minor kernel tweaks.

* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.

*/
What this kernel adds:
Change log:
- Remove kernel debugs to reduce kernel load. Logcat is kept so that you can make log.
- OC CPU to 1600 Mhz in P (powerful) version.
- Play with different toolchains. Currently using Uber toolchain. Will play with Hypertoolchain (to do)
- Play with GPU (to do)
- other minor tweaks
Instruction:
- Flash the kernel zip file in recovery
- Reboot, then use No-frills CPU control to set CPU frequency and desired governor/scheduler.
- Pegasusq/Row combo seems to be very good.
- Enjoy! :victory:

Change log V8_T
- Reduce aggressiveness of PegasusQ governor for stability.
Change log V7_T
1. Reverse CPU OC. Now us standard CPU 1400hz
2. Implement OC of OLED panel to 59hz and included the gralloc fix modules for those rom where the code has not been merged (credits to @GeeckoDev)
Changelog of Forest-KK-Kernel_V6_T:
1. Added trim support: to ensure smooth running and fast backup-restore. (credits to @Lanchon) More on trim look at this post
2. Merged FPBug fix: to fix the music stop bug by @Lanchon and @zeitferne. For details look at this thread
3. Rework GPU to three steps: 134-200-267 Kernel now run smoother and cooler than V5 while still handle heavy games easily!
4. Re-enable logcat function (which was disable in earlier version)
5. included OC CPU and Philz recovery as in earlier version
The kernel is extremely smooth and running cool! CM11 should be indeed stable now!
Change log for earlier versions:
1. Add Philz Touch 6 recovery version 6.30.8 (CWM v6.0.4.8)
2. Add option for OC CPU to 1.6 GHz (from V3)
3. Add OC GPU with 4 steps: 134-200-267-333 (from V5)
2. Disable all kernel debug and logging
3. Some other tweaks of config file
For me:
- It runs smoother, cooler and more battery friendly than stock version.
- With V3b and V5, OC to 1.6GHz the phone is fast and silky smooth! :victory: Heavy game also play smoothly now :victory:
- And you have the beautiful Philz Touch recovery which can also be used to flash any other KK roms.
Important note:
- There are 3 versions for CM11, Omni and Slim you need to use correct version for your rom.
- For those who want even better battery life, follow the simple but effective tips from @NoteboyTech here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/general/how-to-increase-samsung-galaxy-note-t2820862
Instruction:
- Flash the kernel zip file in recovery
- Give some time for kernel to settle and enjoy! U may want to to one manual trim after flashing for more smoothness!
My favorite settings:
- Governor/Scheduler: Pegasusq/Row
- CPU min 200 Mhz max 1600 Mhz.

Thanks! Very timely release as I'm currently having problems with overheating and severe lag and was about to replace the ROM.
Confirmed to be working on C-ROM v5.19 CM11 KK custom ROM. Too early to report any bugs (if any) but so far it appears to be a lot smoother than the previous kernel I used. Will revert for any issues found (again if any) but assume no news again from me means good news!
thanks bro i'll install it right now
---------- Post added at 10:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 PM ----------
working like a charm bro, no issue at all
(tested on CM11 build of 04/11)
keep up the good work :good:
This is what we are waiting for! Time for some testings. thanks forest.
Update:
Battery drain is mostly behaving like Forest TW/JB kernel which is promising. After 9 hours installed mostly 6 hours in deep-sleep, OC'd at 1.2GHz, & GSM in 2G/3G only lost 4% which for this device is pretty impressive considering that kernel should still be in settling stage.
Oh, and yes N7000 is not even warm while screen is continuously on. Otherwise, previous kernels would heat up device and cause lag then freeze. Pretty cool for an initial release! Thanks a lot @forest1971!
Seems to work fine on Carbon ROM too. Haven't tested for long, will report later if something goes wrong.
This probably works on any other relatively CM-based ROM, too. Like MoKee and PAC and Nameless. Probably.

working great on CarbonROM 0502. only the color mode setting (in Display -> Advance Display -> mode) not able to set to "Natural". I like that color mode. However, not a big deal. Overall feel the ROM running smoother. Camera working ok, dialer working fine. Thank you.,..

Hi forest1971,
Congratulations for this great work, I tested the kernel with 4.4.2 Mokee n7000 14/05/01 RELEASE and after reboot system UI has stopped
Currently I'm testing with C-RoM 6.2 and works great :fingers-crossed:
Tegrak Overclock Ultimate does not work I get error error:-2000. You can do something to work Tegrak Overclock Ultimate?
Thanks again :good:
Working great on Carbon ROM.
And +1 for the ability to OC if possible. We lost that long ago.
Thank you for still working on the N7000.

I've managed to squeeze a lil bit more battery out of phone and decrease the heat output (my phone was heating up bad) by lowering the default clock of the GPU. doesn't decrease performance at all (that I notice). new build coming Monday

Best Xposed modules you can have for this phone are xrenamer, sense 6 lockscreen mods, xsense and sense 6 toolbox. But in s6 toolox, you have to enable AOSP recent apps picker or you'll get constant android.media force closes.
Question:
Are there any certain necessary steps/precautions I have to take to flash this kernel using Flashify? My comp's broke so I gotta flash it that way
Edit:
Just flashed with Flashify, and my front facing camera still works!! So does my wifi, data, and as far as I can tell, everything else!!
But I don't have any of the embedded apps in my /System/app or data/app folders. Am I looking in the wrong /app folder possibly?
Are you sure it flashed correctly?
Screenshot Settings>About>Software info >More

Nope just rebooted and it didn't flash. My bad.
I somehow lost my recovery by flashing with Flashify. Guess I gotta find a computer and re-flash twrp...
I think I flashed the kernel to recovery partition.
Edit:
Re-flashed my recovery, flashed the kernel with Flashify, and it worked this time, since I flashed as a boot img not recovery img this time.
FFC seems to be the only thing not working

RZ Kernel aims for as stock experience as possible. It is made from Samsung's stock kernel with stability updates thanks to great guys who made ELS (exynos-linux-stable) branch
It also attempts to increase overall multitasking performance while maintaining good battery life with proper settings
Features
Adapted new Samsung EMS scheduler from Samsung 4.14 kernel (with 16ms PELT)
Gaming optimizations (reduce heat while maintaining performance stability)
Disabled battery-hogging WAKELOCKS
WireGuard and DriveDroid support
Security patch fixes adapted
Thanks to corsicanu for helping me with initial kernel support

Notices and Q&A
The kernel is based on tw10-android-4.9-q branch of ELS, which is currently at stable state from my experience
Other related features of the kernel were picked from other sources. Credits belong to the owner
The kernel's energy costs table is remade in favor of new EMS scheduler
Questions and Answers (Q&A)
Q: AnTuTu scores please?
A: This kernel isn't made for benchmarks so let's not talk about it
Q: My phone gets hot while using this kernel?
A: Short answer: It's your own issue, fix it yourself. Nobody makes a kernel just to burn your hands
Long answer:
Install Termux app from Play Store
Enable screen rotation, open Termux in landspace mode
Type this command: su -c top -d 2
A list of processes will appear and refresh with 2s interval. Find which process consumes the most CPU usage with [%CPU] column and the package name in ARGS column. You should see the culprit of your issue
Reminder: There is no such thing as "I have nothing in background but the phone still heats up". There definitely something happen and 99% of the time it's some of the rogue apps running in background
Q: Can you add X Y Z feature to this kernel?
A: I want to keep the kernel clean and simple. However, if the feature is really useful, I'll consider adapting it with proper performance check before releasing
Q: Installation procedure?
A: Simply flash the kernel with supported ROM and forget. No Magisk reinstallation needed
Reversed for future usage
Another kernel for S9 devices, awesome.?
Thanks
Updated initial release with latest defconfig base for DTC5 vendor

Hey. Will this kernel Work with dtc4 vendor?
Build kernel from scratch
I need help with building kernel outside of android build system.
I have downloaded sources from here: https://github.com/LineageOS/android..._universal9810 , installed cross-compiler, configured with "make exynos9810-starlte_defconfig", build with "make". For now I have file arch/arm64/boot/Image .
How to build correct dtb and pack it with the Image file to bootable image?
Thank you.
Second public build is coming, and this will be the final build of the kernel project!
We have been going through lots of ups and downs in the testing group, so here are the results
Changes:
Fixes zram on boot
Adapted a new kernel scheduler, supporting 32/64-bit task scheduling
Critical scheduler performance fixes
Adapted newer vendor support
As this is the final build of the whole kernel project, I'd like to say thank you to all supporters/developers who helped me improving the kernel. The whole project hasn't lasted long, but it was a great time. This and the RZ Kernel project for Exynos 8895 will also be abandoned, unfortunately
Once again, thank you for all your support!

Arigathanks! I've been using the kernel for quite sometime and I like how it's underclocked by default. What device would you be moving to?
Sad to see such a nice kernel getting abandoned.
What needs to be done to keep it updated and relevant? Would love to keep it alive.
Using this kernel with havoc os, all is good as a daily driver battery life with this combo is awesome

Perhaps you can clone my kernel repo and do something with it. The most contemplating thing is to handle future vendor updates from Samsung. The kernel might go unbootable on latest One UI at some point, so someone must be doing the stock defconfig update (that's the least requirement to boot One UI ROMs with newer vendor)
Hmmm....Usually I can verify that the kernel has been installed by checking it's build date. But it still shows the same like before. I'm running official LOS and flashed the kernel in LOS recovery. According to the log it went fine. Maybe it doesn't work with that recovery?
Edit: Ok, in TWRP it works fine.
Anyone tried using with the latest vendor / security patch? I'm on Alexis ROM 1.8 would love to continue using this kenel.

I tried it. Some tweaks not working like showing download speed and reverted back the old power menu (no emergency call) which is baked in the rom and the settings menu changes like 2 battery options in the menu. One is fixed at maximum power saving and cant change while another is on the device health or something which can be change. I also found that sometimes it ramps up the clocks without any reason i still manage to get 4.5-5.3hrs of sot with light usage. The chrome is unusable since it bugged out like its inverted color and cant see sh*t.

How was the standby drain? What twrp did you use? I used 3.4.0.0 of TWRP. The chrome is super dark and cant see. Can you confirm this or im an isolated case? Do you think its because of not using twrp 3.3.1.1 that bugged mine? Hope you can help me. Thanks!
