[Q] ME863 Market help - Motorola Droid 3

I got a ME863 the Droid 3 from China, and the guy i got it from said that in order to use the market I would have to install it from my SD card. So I did so and it installed no problem but now when I open the market is asks me to add an account to it I press yes and it just closes. So I am a little stuck on what to do now. Can anyone help?

I don't know if this will work, but I think there's a Google apps add on for the xt883 ROM, and you might try it to see if it works. You could always try rooting/flashing a recovery program to allow flashing a new ROM. I have no idea what is capable on that phone, though, hopefully our tools will work for your device

The ME863 SBF thread in the Android Development subforum has a Google Apps flashable package for the ME863.
I'm curious, what are the various version numbers of your ME863 ROM?

I'm not sure I am still very new to this but
System version 60.2.200.ME863ChinaRetail.en.CN
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband: u_36.2C.0E.x
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-g3df3a82

I don't know if that helps at all

I found the sub thread you were talking about and I tried to follow the directions that they had posted there but I get stuck at this part
ricardo.damico:
If you freshly flashed the ME863 rom to your phone (using RSD Lite), your phone should have the stock recovery. There are 2 links to the GMS file (the file name is ME863_update_r7.zip), which is shown in the very first post of this thread. Before thee link, it indicates the key combination to hold when powering up your phone to access recovery.
So to install gapps for the ME863 ROM,
1) Put that file (ME863_update_r7.zip) on your SD Card (preferably in the root/main folder)
2) Power on your phone by holding the X key and the power button. You will see the exclamation mark with the little green android.
3) Now hit both VolUp and VolDown buttons together to see the menu.
4) Use the VolUp / Down buttons to navigate the menu - choose "apply update from sdcard" and hit the power button once to select it
5) Scroll down to the file (ME863_update_r7.zip) and hit the power button once to select it.
This is what was posted and I try and follow the directions but when I go to install the ME863 update then is gets an error and aborts the installation I have tried it with the normal recovery and the safestrap boot.. So I don't know what to do

I've actually never tried it (I have the HK/TW retail model which does include the Market by default) but I thought it would work. What's the error you get?
It's possible it won't work because the package was built for the ChinaUnicom ME863 with the older system...
I'm actually just downloading the HK ME863 update now to 2.3.6, but it looks like your device already has it or the equivalent. Blur_Version.60.2.200.ME863.Retail.en.05 is the version I'm moving to.
I wonder if all the China retail devices already had 2.3.6 or if the production facility's been upgraded.

[Q] Newbie Question

Hi All
sorry if this is a stupid question
but i've just bought a nexus one from a friend which has a custom rom (MoDaCo Rom R22)
i take it is rooted, but my question is i would like to put it back to standard or another good rom u would recommend
so which rom do i get and how do i install it
thx for your time
If you want to switch to a new custom ROM:
First doublecheck that you're really rooted, check your apps and see if you have one called Superuser. If so, you are.
Second, see what custom recovery you're using. Turn off your phone. Once it's off, press the Volume Down button and then press the power button simultaneously. A white screen will show up, hit down a few times and let it run a quick little check and then select Recovery and hit your power button.
You should see either ClockworkMod Recovery or Amon_Ra. Next turn your phone on and hit the menu button and go to settings. Then scroll down to About Phone and then look at Baseband Version.
If the last numbers are 4.06.00.12_7 then go to
Code:
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Full_Update_Guide_-_Nexus_One#Flashing_CyanogenMod
and work your way down for the recovery version that you have on your phone, otherwise start at
Code:
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Full_Update_Guide_-_Nexus_One#Flashing_Radio
. This will install CyanogenMod 6.0, which is generally considered one of the better stable mods and a great first mod for someone who doesn't know a whole lot about custom ROMs.
If you want to completely reset your phone to its initial factory settings you can use a simple process suggested to me last night:
Emul8or said:
You can try the passimg method-
1. [download]
Code:
android.modaco.com/content/google-nexus-one-nexusone-modaco-com/300414/10-may-stock-roms-erd79-epf21b-images-zip-online-kitchen-optional-root-insecure-himem/
a stock image and rename it PASSIMG.zip
2. Place the file on the root of your sd
3. Power off your phone, then turn it on by holding VolDown and pressing Power
*It will start up in HBOOT mode and will prompt you to flash the PASSIMG.zip update

Note: I'm too much of a noobcake to post URLs, so hopefully someone can repost it or edit this to make the links easier.
I suggest just opening Nexus One Wiki (the topmost thread with the same name links to it), reading, and executing either the "Flashing custom ROMs" guide or "Unroot/Restore your Nexus" guide.
About custom ROMs - I suggest looking in Developer section, checking out a few, and settling on something you like.
And I don't suggest using ROM Manager.
thx for the replies i'll have a look
Why not ROM Manager? It would allow you to flash to a stock prerooted Froyo firmware. From there you can decide what you want to do next.
That being said, if you want to do anything more advanced, I suggest you become comfortable with navigating the custom recovery yourself, nandroid backups, adb, and all that jazz. Also you will want to verify if the bootloader is unlocked, or if the previous owner used a root exploit that didn't require unlocking.

[HELP] Can't open recovery menu

Hii all!
I've made a new post to explain thing better. My main problem is that I can't get into my recovery menu.
A few weeks ago I've successfully rooted my Milestone (bootloader 90.78 > vulnerable recovery From this post > Copied OpenRecory + update.zip (G.O.T. OpenRecovery) to my SD card) But then i wanted to install a custom ROM. So I thought it was good to start over with a clean phone, I followed the "[HOW-TO] Get your Milestone back to stock" guide. I downloaded the following .sbf "SHOLS_U2_02.36.0_UCASHLSMR2EMEAB1B806D.0R_PDS003_USASHLS00RTGB_P026_A019_HWp2a_1FF.sbf", flashed my phone with this .sbf, all went fine. Then the vulnerable recovery needed to be installed, I've tried several vulnerables. But after completed the install I cant get into the recovery, I'm stuck at the /!\ screen. Can someone help me?
Thanks
OLD POST:
[old]Hii all!
I have a really nasty problem here. I can't open the recovery menu, I'm stuck at the /!\ image, tried the two key combinations, but no one works.
I already rooted my phone and I wanted to install a custom ROM. But before this I wanted a clean/stock phone, so I flashed him to stock .sbf. Then I installed vulnerable to get into recovery menu >> doesn't work. OK. Lets install the bootloader again + vulnerable >> doesn't work. Can someone help me with this, I really want a custom ROM and root (again)
Thanks, eXtink[/old]
Flas G.O.T. ) cause it already has vulnerable recovery injected then install open recovery 3.3 and play

Hi, I also have this problem.
there is openrecovery 3.3? where can i get this.
The dev website only shows 2.1? is their site outdated?
Hi!
I'm suffering the same problem:
I tried with the phone as I got it (no flash nor anything) - Could enter recovery mode (Power + CAM) but no menu display with VOLUP + CAM at the same time nor first VOLUP and then CAM.
I tried installing openrecovery and also androidiani, but after flashing vulnerable recoveri 90.78 and starting in recovery mode the same problem, no menu.
I flashed G.O.T telus 2.2.1 and still the same problem
Any ideas?

A few points:
You should ALWAYS be able to get to the default recovery. The default
recovery is not useful for flashing ROMs, but if you can't get to it, you have serious issues.
The default recovery can be accessed by powering on the phone with camera pressed down until you see the exclamation/triangle icon/cell phone icon.
RELEASE all buttons. Then press VOLUME UP (leaving it pressed down) and hit the camera button again (once). It should INSTANTLY give you a recovery menu.
You should now be in the RECOVERY (not OpenRecovery). You should a small number of options : reboot, apply update.zip,etc.
If you have not correctly installed the Vulnerable Recovery, you won't be able to use the apply update.zip option to run Open Recovery, Androidiani, etc.
The following thread is the best guide to get a recovery installed. Follow it exactly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932196
The best recovery for Milestone is Androidiani. GOT recovery is OLD. OpenRecovery works fine, but Androidiani has more options for Milestone.
The general steps are:
1) Flash a GOT sbf using RSD lite. This installs vulnerable recovery
2) Download Androidiani. Put its update.zip in the ROOT of you SDCARD and put the OpenRecovery FOLDER (unzipped) also in the ROOT of the SDcard
3) Enter Recovery (as described above)
4) Choose Apply update.zip to get into Androidiani
5) Follow instructions for the ROM you want to use...
I hope this helps! It has worked on thousands of milestones. I see no reason for it to fail on yours.

Post the video and we can see if you have a problem.
Did you try starting from scratch using the appropriate GOT sbf?
The recovery gets overwritten by that sbf, so if this is succesful, any corrupted recovery problem should go away.

Try plugging your usb cable between your pc and phone, and then enter recovery

I flashed GOT Telus 2.2.1 full, at least I've got froyo now, but still no recovery menu. I also tried without SD and SIM to check if something could be wrong with them but no luck.
I'll make the video in some minutes (no sound, I'm at work. I tried to make it yesterday but my daughter thought it was better to play with the computer instead)
To eneter in recovery mod slide out keyboard and pres X button + power button and release them when you see the /!\ then apply update.zip

[Q] Broken Recovery Menu on Rooted Milestone

Hey everyone,
So this is definitely a noob problem and I would like to apologize in advance for taking up your time. I am extremely new to rooting and would be extremely appreciative of some advice!
I bought my phone (a Motorola Milestone) already rooted and running G.O.T. 2.2.1 back in November. I wanted to upgrade to the latest CyanogenMod 7 and, in my own stupidity, I followed a Droid tutorial instead of a Milestone tutorial. This led me to install Clockwork ROM Manager and flash their Recovery Menu - which, I've now learned, is not compatible with the Milestone.
So, I now have no access to the Recovery Menu (the phone simply boots up normally). I still have Superuser Permissions and can access the Bootloader.
What I would like your input on is the steps I should take to regain access to the Recovery Menu. I feel like, since I have root access, I shouldn't need to start from scratch (e.g. completely re-root the device), but I don't know for sure.
Is it possible to somehow just flash OpenRecovery? Or do I need to do all ofthe steps listed at addictivetips.c0m/mobile/how-to-root-motorola-milestone/?
I saw one tutorial for flashing a new recovery program (theunlockr.c0m/2009/10/15/how-to-flash-a-new-recovery-image-if-you-are-already-rooted/) and it seems easy enough. My only issue then is that OpenRecovery is not distributed as an .img file but rather as an "update.zip" and a folder.
Again, I'm sorry for using up your time with what probably is a ridiculously simplistic question. I require the phone for my work and the thought of accidentally bricking it is enough to give me pause from doing anything else. Suggestions would be really welcome!
You can flash GOT again which already has the Vulnerable Recovery in it... or just flash the vulnerable recovery itself.
Good luck.

The main issue there is that I never did the initial flash of GOT or vulnerable recovery (I bought the phone pre-rooted) so I don't know how exactly to go about that. In light of the end goal (I want to upgrade the phone to the latest CyanogenMod 7), what would be the least amount of steps to accomplish this?
I think if I could flash the recovery and then flash CM7 (with a backup of all my stuff somewhere in between) that would do the trick?
Can't you try that sbf flash thing? Or is that only for droids?

Try this:
1) Download RSD Lite - http://uploaded.to/file/pifx1b
2) Download Vulnerable recovery for MM - http://www.mediafire.com/?jzzjmmrvwkz
3) Unpack and install RSD Lite, then unpack vulnerable recovery.
4) Open RSD Lite and click on '...' button, chose sbf file with vulnerable recovery (unpacked in 3rd step).
5) Power on your Milestone in bootloader mode (power + d-pad up).
6) Connect usb cable to Milestone, RSD lite will show that phone is connected
7) Press start in RSD lite and wait until RSD lite end procedures (it will boot when process will be done). Shutdown phone.
8) Turn on Milestone by pressing power + x on the keyboard. It should get you to recovery mode.
Thank you for the detailed steps and the links! I REALLY appreciate them!
Once I've done those, I should then be able to do a backup through the recovery menu and flash the latest CM7 release? Or are there other steps I need to do?

When you will be done, download (from here - http://code.google.com/p/androidiani-openrecovery/downloads/list) and copy to sd card Androidiani Open Recovery (update.zip and OpenRecovery folder should be in / of sdcard, eg.: /sdcard/update.zip ; /sdcard/OpenRecovery).
Then (if you want to flash CM7) you need to download CM from here - https://github.com/downloads/nadlabak/android/update-cm-7.1.0-RC10-11.06.14-Milestone-signed.zip and GApps (http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip) and copy it to /sdcard/OpenRecovery/updates
When you copy AOR and CM7 to your sd card, you need to shutdown your phone and power it on with pressed power + x. It will take you to the recovery (screen with exlamation in background) and then you will need to press vol up + camera button. If you see blue menu, choose from option 'apply update.zip'. It takes you to AOR. From AOR menu choose Apply Update, in next step choose package with CM7 (update-cm-7.1.0-RC10-11.06.14-Milestone-signed.zip) and when update will be over do the same with gapps. Return to the main menu and do 'Wipe dalvik cache' and 'Wipe cache'. Reboot and CM7 should load now.
Awesome! This all makes sense. I will have time later this week to give it a try (I can't wait to update this phone, it has now decided that if I receive a couple calls and also a couple texts, it will freeze completely on me. Not impressed!) - thanks again!
Another simple question: When I copy over CM7 and the Google Apps, do I leave them in .zip format or should I unpack them first?

Both - CM7 and Google Apps should be packed and moved to OpenRecovery/updates folder.
Thank you for your awesome instructions!
I ran into a few hiccups (at first, I didn't have the USB drivers installed and then I ran into an issue where the com.android.phone process kept quitting so I did a complete data wipe on top of the cache wipes) but I now have CM7 installed and running.
However, I've run into a new problem: I have no network access! (cellular voice or data!). The only carrier the phone sees is WIND (I am on Fido). It previously had no trouble at all... I think it is because of the Baseband version?
I noticed that, with the flashing and everything, the baseband version has changed from 3GSMEPU91A_U_91.09.00I (which worked) to 3GSMEPU91A_U_91.09.04I (not a big change but maybe the cause of my problem?)
I know that the phone is not meant to be used on Fido but it was previously unlocked and working fine... Did I miss a step somewhere?
As of right now, my phone is useless to me so help would greatly be appreciated!
EDIT1: I did configure the Mobile Networks/Access Point Names settings (as per what I used before the format) so that is not the problem...
EDIT2: Under status, the phone does list my correct phone number but has the network as "unknown".
Have you changed the baseband to Canada in AOR? It's either that or Telus when flashing in AOR.
What exactly did you do with the APN? You shouldn't have any issues configuring it to Fido.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA Premium App
I hadn't changed the baseband in AOR - I thought I might have to but I didn't want to do anything that could be detrimental.
I just applied the "canada.zip" and, indeed, it looks like that did the trick!
As for the APN, I just put in the ones found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537829 as that is what I had to do to get the data working before.
edit: I've been playing around with the phone and everything seems to be working! (even the AMAZING "Create a 3G Wireless Hotspot" feature!) Honestly, I cannot thank you enough adamz667 and skadude66!

Wierd Boot Menu

Hey all,
I'm looking since over a week for a solution but without luck. I tried quite everything, I ended up in purchasing ROM Manager Premium. My problem is that I cannot boot into the clockword recovery mode, so I can perform a Nandroid Full Backup of my existing ROM. I am running stock firmware, nothing special. I just rooted my device and I also installed ROM Manager Premium. I clicked on "Flash Recovery" and of course I assigned superuser rights with the "remember" option checked. I tried:
- open the application ROM Manager and choose the second function called "reboot into recovery". result--> my device do a normal boot, nothing happens.
- I tried powering on the phone by first turn it off, then push simultanously Powerbutton+VolumeDownButton+HomeButton. Nothing --> it still boots on normal way.
- When I slide/open my droid3, and powering on my phone using the powerbutton+X-button then I am getting this explanation mark. Then I have to push simulatenously volup+voldown buttons and I see the stock boot mode of Motorola, where I can reset to factory defaults, and so on. This is the stock boot mode, isn't it?
- When I slide/open my droid3, and powering on my phone using the powerbutton+M-button on the keyboard, I am getting a menu with following lines:
Boot Mode Selection Menu (0A.53)
Vol Up Selects, Vol Down scrolls
Available Boot Modes:
Normal Powerup
Recovery
AP Fastboot
BP SBF Flash
BP Only
BP HW Diag & Boot AP
BP Tools
I can use the VolDown key to scroll and I scrolled to BP Tools and pushed the VolUp Button. But my device still boots up normally, I don't see any clockwork mod recovery menu or something like that. Damn it!
What am I doin' wrong? How can I access this Recovery Menu, so I will be able to perform a Nandroid Backup ???
Hope someone can help, it's really getting frustrating Any help appreciated. Thanks to all.
Droid 3 has a locked bootloader. Which bootstrap do you have installed?
Rom manager is kinda useless for the d3, most roms aren't on it. Safestrap is the bootstrap of choice for d3. Il find a link

Thanks for the link, but coulod someone anyhow tell me which menu I am booting in, when pressing M+Powerbutton ? is this also stock from Motorola ?
So, ROM Manager is useless .. means: I have to uninstall completely before doing any other stuff, right? I uninstalled ROM Manager and to be sure I rebootet my phone.
I downloaded this Safestrap version for my Droid 3 (Droid 3 :: v1.08 [ 2011-12-16 ]) and transferred it into my Droid3. Within my phone I open ES file explorer and tapped on this safestrap.apk and installed it.
I am using this how-to-instructions link for Safestrap by Hash Code. So far so good, I was able to perform a backup although I get a notice similar to "skipping /android.blabla no applications found". Hope this is ok. I verified the backup and md5 checksums seem to be ok.
I hope a have a valid backup of my stock ROM now

Yes you do, however the idea is that you should never need it, as you can't flash when safe mode is disabled, you have to activate safe mode. Because of this its pretty hard to mess your phone, as the stock rom never gets overwritten

I didnt understand perfectly yet how this safestrap/boot stuff works. I installed safestrap recovery, so far so good. I can access this boot menu as described in HashCodes HowTo. What happens if I enable safeboot in the menu? I am getting a warning that it cannot be undone. Why am I getting warned?I canceled it because I was not sure what to choose. Do I have something like a dual-boot menu when installing a custom ROM? That means I can install CM7 and also boot my stock Motoblur with all my actual settings and apps installed? And if I reboot the device I can boot for example CM7 and have a strict different system running with the apps and settings installed only on my CM7 portion?

Dualbooting is one (slightly inaccurate) way to look at it. I'm not sure which warning you are talking about, but i can explain a bit better. Safestrap is designed to keep a perfect copy of your original system at all times. As in better than a nandroid. So perfect that it is ALWAYS there. It is not modified in any way. Even if you flash something that you know will brick your phone, you can simply boot up safestrap and switch back to your original safe system.
This is different than dualbooting because it is not quite as easy to switch between systems as dualbooting is. As in you don't select one on start up and boot into the one of your choice at the same speed.

[Q] How to revert to stock rom

Hi all, i have a EVA-L19 that i recently was forced to flash to the NewWorld Rom after a broken corrupt partition.
I am trying to work out how to flash back to the official stock rom so I can try to unlock the bootloader and root the phone again.
Does anyone know how I should do this?
I've managed to download what seems to be the boot.img/recovery.img/EVA-L19_C185B130 Rom.
Since Huawei doesnt use odin like samsung phones, does anyone know how I can recover to stock? Hisuite doesnt seem to support a full recovery.
Thanks!
interested to know also
Me too.
Easier than it seems
Well, after many years on this forum I decided to register just ti give a bit back to the community, and because I myself have been struggling with this issue for a very long time (I am getting old and not so tech-davy anymore).
!NB: You will beed a micro-SD card, I personally could not find a way to do it without one, so bought one an hour ago - 8GB was the smallest they had. Ross are <3GB, but to be safe 4GB card is a good option.
So here is the process of flashing stock rom:
1. Download Suitable Stock Rom:
EVA L09: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/stock-rom-dload-file-p9-eva-l09-b136-t3382818
EVA L19: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/stock-rom-dload-file-p9-eva-l19-b162-t3410212
1.1 Unzip archive and place 'dload' folder (with .APP file inside) on the SD card.
2. If you have TWRP - Flash stock recovery:
2.1 Easiest way for me was to download a package here (two links in first post): http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/guide-root-huawei-p9-t3367800 - Thanks to djeloy!
2.2 Unzip package and go to "PASO 3" directory.
2.3 Unplug from PC (if connected) and turn off the phone
2.4 Hold Volume Down and connect to PC while holding Volume Down
2.5 Once phone is connected, it will turn on in download (or whatever that is) mode
2.6 Open .bat file in "PASO 3" directory and press 'Enter' key
2.7 Stock Recovery should flash and phone will restart
3. Flash Stock Rom:
3.1 Turn the phone off and make sure PC cable is not connected.
3.2 (While phone is off) Hold 'Volume Up' + 'Volume Down' + 'Power' keys - hold them long, until you see 'Rom Flashing'
3.3 Rom should be flashed now
Hope this helps someone

3.3 Rom should be flashed now
Hope this helps someone

.... I love you.
Keep getting extraction error when trying to unzip the file.
Any other links to stock rom?
Hey guys and gals,
@zandercook1 glad to be able to help
@warface, Unfortunately I do not come here too often, somboons made a thread with all the Stock Roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rom-stock-rom-eva-l19c636b168-t3419586 Might be that the archive was downloaded with some pieces getting corrupted, which resulted in extraction error? I used 7-zip program, maybe it will take a difference, although doubtful..

I've tried many different ROMs from different places. All fail with the same error.
It's got to be something wrong with my current ROM somewhere.
I need android 7 for my Eva dl00 , is possible?
