[MOD] Stock Gingerbread 2.3 Launcher - LG Revolution

Something I found and installed on my Revo. Installs perfect and most of the LG widgets work too. I used adb to push it to my phone...
adb remount
adb push Launcher2.apk /system/app
I am not responsible if something happens to your phone.

Is this the same as gingerhome add on that you can flash over gingervolt? Also what does adw remount mean?
Edit: Ok I think I understand what it is and how it works now I just had to do some thinking and some research.

Its not Gingerhome. This is the AOSP launcher for Gingerbread. adb remount remounts the /system folder and allows you to write to it.

Sweet!!! I look forward to trying this one!

This is the launcher that was in GingerVolt 1.0 and 1.1. You can install it from the market. Just a little easier way for ya.

[Q]Modified Touchwiz.zip

Is it possible for anyone to create a .zip file for installation of the modified Touchwiz transparent launcher. I have tried to follow the instructions have been unsuccessful. Any help is awesome. I am running clean DJ05 deodexed. Thanks.

Really? All you have to do is move the .apk from the sd card to your /system/app directory with any root capable file manager. Or adb push. Takes less time than it did for me to swype this.

Which Rom are you running and did you have the touchwiz.odex file also. I have been able to do everything else but this one

I'm pretty sure there was a .zip file in the thread about the vibrant dock. You can't change the dock for the fascinate launcher. Its a .xml file edit or something like that.
I would like a transparent dock aswell but the vibrant launcher is as close as were gonna most likely.
Would also be nice to have a themed twlauncher as I prefer it over other launchers at this point. :/

I did too but I would rather have the ability to uninstall apps from the launcher and set the home screen to what I want it to be. The Vibrant launcher doesnt allow those things...
Thanks everyone for the input. I will look for the vibrant launcher well.

Stock mms.apk needed

It seems I can't flash to 2.3.1 GRH78 because I get "assert failed apply_patch mms.apk" while applying zip through recovery.
I am using rootboot.img from koush.
The mms.apk is the custom app w/black background.i think the update is trying to patch the original mms.apk and failing.
Has anyone encountered this issue? Can someone post original mms.apk
Thanks

I ran into the same problem earlier today. I used the mms.apk from Cyanogenmod to try and fix my blurry MMS issues.
I think I'm just going to flash Paul's ROM tomorrow when he includes the OTA.
Here you are!
I had the same problem too with the black Mms.apk. So, I reverted back to the stock Mms from Supercurio's system dump, then, I just used adb to push it and solved my problem.
Well, looks like it's easier to find the Mms.apk ^^^^

I can't seem to install the stock mms.apk.
adb install attached Mms.apk
I get "Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE]" I have more than enough storage.
I also tried doing adb install Mms.apk and I get
"Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]"
Any ideas?
I also tried to to push to /system/app and reboot but that didn't work. Does it have to do with me missing Mms.odex file?
Another way is to used Root Explorer or DDMS File Explorer in Eclipse. I've included a screen shot. If you don't already have Eclipse setup you can find How too - HERE to setup.
Wipe and flash Paul's gingerbread ROM and then push black mms and gmail again. You don't lose root, you get 2.3.1 and a few other goodies like ext4 performance tweak
.
I'll try that .
i ended up flashing the stock nandroid with 2.3.1 , rooting and keeping the regular mms and gmail.
Thanks

I just added paul's Rom. Wow, it flies!
I was a bit hesitant to add a custom mod with the nexus s because it's already fast n gingerbread is nice on top of the fact that I was tired of Rom a week.
But thanks it's awesome

App to update xoom for root

I made this small app to download and install the latest update for the xoom for those of us that are rooted. It's very basic but works. Hope my 30 min is worth while
After install re-root by:
adb remount && adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
thanks
This will help many! Thank you.
Thanks JRummy worked like a charm
App worked like a charm for me. Took me a while to get adb loaded on my wife's laptop but otherwise smooth as silk..
3.0.1 and rooted and running at 1504.
Thank for the app!

saved me some time thanks a lot
Do we have a re root process yet after updating?
Wow! Thanks a ton, that was absolutely painless.

Wish I could make the program in 30 min...even a month. I tried to teach my self how to make apps but no luck. Not something my brain can learn as easy as other computer stuff

Worked like a charm. But I'm not near a computer for a couple days. Any way to re-root from the xoom using terminal emulator or the like?
Didnt work for me, same issue as the OTA update.
Xoom reboots, for a few seconds theres the android with the cogs, then suddenly it turns into download mode (android with ! triangle).
A few minutes later the xoom reboots and im back where i started... could it be my renaming lots of files in the /app folder?

That is exactly your problem.... you renamed system apps. Change the names back to the original and you should be fine.
Ended up flashing stock again and the update works. But was it the kernel or the app renaming i wonder... quadrant scores are seem lower than before 1700.

Not sure if this is 100% necessary.
I'm in Germany (thanks, Army), and came home to an update notification on my Xoom. I got excited about SD functionality and Flash, so I updated without thinking.
With the official 3.0.1 update, the only thing that I noticed was that SetCPU wasn't functioning due to loss of root user priveleges. I re-flashed rootboot.img (might have been unnecessary), and fixed the permissions on the su binary.
Maybe this is more of a problem for those of you who are stateside, but can anyone else confirm that this issue is as minor as the "fix?" Since we still need to drop down to a terminal, we might as well accept the update then fix permissions. I think maybe a script that combines these two tasks would better serve the community.

[Q] Where is superuser.apk in revolt 1.4

Does anyone know where this is? When I rooted from stock to decrap, it was in system/app. I removed it to unroot after switching to decrap. I re-rooted and switched to Revolt 1.4 and now I need to either change the app name or remove it so I can use Good for Enterprise for work email. Thanks for your help.
It is in /system/app

[APP] ICS Launcher With 3/7 Home Screens

I find it very annoying that the stock launcher comes with 5 screens and you are completely unable to add or remove any of them. I have never needed or used more than 3 screens so it is quite inconvenient to have a launcher with 5 screens that I cannot edit. So, I decompiled the stock ICS launcher and edited the layout to contain 3 screens. I would add an option to edit the screen count in the app itself but I have not compiled ICS on my computer and I do not plan to do so (at least until I upgrade my RAM).
I have also uploaded a version with 7 screens. I tried to allow screen rotation as well but ran into some issues when editing the AndroidManifest.xml. I'll see if I can get it working though.
Download 3 screens: http://www.multiupload.com/ZE4AY4IUM2
Download 7 screens: http://www.multiupload.com/ECCSUYTKI8
To install (rename to Launcher2.apk)
via adb:
Code:
adb push /path/to/downloaded/Launcher2.apk /system/app/
via root file manager:
- copy modified Launcher2.apk to sdcard. Copy from sdcard to /system/app/ and overwrite existing Launcher2.apk

I had some trouble too but realized you need a modified apktool.jar. I got it from the issues page on apktool. Here's the link: http://www.multiupload.com/YWJHOSZ7GJ
Just replace your current apktool.jar (I am assuming you use apktool) with this one.
Awesome, thank you much!

You also need to update your SDK package and pull the newest aapt.exe from the platform-tools folder and place that in APK Manager along with the updated APK Tool.
The new apktool gets you decompiling but you need the aapt.exe to complete the package so you can re compile....

ordinarily, you would fix permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot
or if adb:
adb shell chmod 644 /system/app/Launcher2.apk
adb reboot
.. or reboot into recovery -- advanced, fix permissions. But I was having trouble with FCing after. Anyone else? I'm gonna give it another go. Realllly need 2 more screens

Ok, I just tried this again. I dl the file on my pc. Renamed to launcher2.apk. pushed it to my sd card. Opened root explorer. Copied file. Went to system/app. Enabled r/w. Hit paste. Overwrite. Reboot into recovery. Advanced/fix permissions. Reboot. Still nothing. Am I doing something wrong here? Btw running cm7 nightlies 174.
