hey guys.i was just wondering abut note internal memory?! im sure is it sd card or is it not?what do you guys think?
maybe somebody knows how to replace that with a big card like 32gb or 64 gb.then all our memory problems would disapear?
is it possible?cheers!
its probably an internal memory chip that cant be replaced
Think it'll be quite risking to perform surgery on this awesome phone.

It would be quite risky, yeah. Why not just replace your external card for a bigger one?

Is there any way in which we can add a MicroSD card slot to the diamond?

I'm only specululating, but by desoldering the internal memory chip on the mainboard and resoldering to a micro-sd cardslot, it could be possible perhaps. I would bet, the interface is the same and the chip on the motherboard is nothing else, but an unhoused, normal micro-sd card - don't know it for sure of course.
But if possible at all, handling the tiny contacts of smd-chips is only possible with special equipement, a lot of experience and the risk of destroying the mainboard.
What about attaching microSD reader through extUSB?

That is possible. Discussed in another thread here.
So far, can only be used for flashing ROM, using an external card reader.
Diamond is missing drivers for accessing the card in WM6.1.
just bin the diamond
go buy a pro....
did you not know this before you brought it
Micro-SD
I saw a cable which is basically like the computer's usb extension cable but only shorter. It was under the phones category and my guess is that it should work and not just for flashing the rom!
So I'm looking in ebay now to get one of those little suckers and try it to confirm if my theory is right or wrong!
Laters guys
Hi Guys
Let´s face it. HTC could have build this device with a Micro-SD.
They are just learning from Apple. upgrade it slowly. next year, they surrely release a "upgraded" version, with a 5M camera and a MicroSD card, more Ram...

Joao

First of all, they could not have build this device with a micro-sd slot without getting thicker. And as the most of us want a thin and small device they made all right IMHO.
And why the hell should they learn from Apple??? How many PPC's did Apple build???
Like I said, I think they made a very good job with the Diamond.
So far....
I want a diamond with microsd
The touch pro is too fat for me (size and money).

Adding an SD slot would have added about 1mm to the thickness. Hardly a great amount in the grand scheme of things. However, it might have drained the battery even further, so maybe that's why it was left out.
Hi, I want a HTC HD7 but 8Gb are too little for me. I learned that we could change the micro sd card and i want to know if we can change this card with a card with more capacity. Thanks.
I believe that you can but the card have to be class 2 for it to work
Ok, thanks you and is anybody tried this ?

Yes, but Windows Phone 7 devices require you to open them because most of the devices do not allow swapping of memory so easily.

Yes I know, I have watched a video. I just want to know if it's possible or not and if anybody tried this ?
yep tried it. had 13 random cards 1 traveler, 1 hama and the rest were sandisk from 2 to 32 gb. all of them worked.
but attention: just look out for a friend with a symbian phone because this is the only way to reformat this cards if they dont work in the hd7!!!
and please dont do it if you just want a 16 gb hd7. only change the card if you dont have enough space on it.
you also have to hard reset the phone!
and mybee there are problems with the warranty!!!!
wrote an article about this but its in german

Hi I have a HTC HD 7 on O2 UK and it came with a 14gb memory....
Hello, I am not trying to troll or be rude. How is 8gb to little?
Alot of music/video?
Or are the applications doing it?
I order an 8GB venue pro and immediately regretted it so I was wondering.
because of this i wrote "and please dont do it if you just want a 16 gb hd7. only change the card if you dont have enough space on it."
i did it because i wanted to disassembly anyways
i thought the hd7 doesnt have a card slot :/

Hence, I said yes. Pay attention
You can swap memory with any Windows Phone 7 device. Some are difficult then others and you void warranty. Also once you switch memory, you need to perform (as a person stated before me) a hard reset.

Ok I understand so, you say that all the cards you've tried work? even up to 32 Gb? and I did not understand why you say not to do if I want a 16 GB HD7?
not with any wp7 device!
the sd card in the samsung omnia 7 as example is soldered on the board
Well then, most.

Might want to mention where you are located. Tmobile's USA HD7 came with 16gb. Buddy of mine swapped out for the 32gb Sandisk Class 2 without any issues.
Short Question:
The Korean Version seems to have an internal SD card with 16 GB, our phones have only 8 GB. Is it possible to upgrade it to 16 or 32 GB? Perhaps we can extend our storage for apps...
euhm i think its baked on the board somewhere. On the other hand. Why on earth do you need to enlarge it? The external SD card can hold 32G? Do you really need so much space on your phone?
Its an emmc chip and they are a ***** to solder and hard to get a hold of. Read the service manual to find out the exact part. They have the manual over at optimus2x.net
Oh one more thing, its a bga connection which means reflow work. There better not be any components on the other side of the board.

Ohh I've seen it in the manual. Soldering a new chip on the phone isn't an option for me.
Thank you!
it is possible to upgrade the internal memory of 32gb to 64gb?
Without buying a new phone? No
Yeah, that wouldn't work at all. If you even could, you would have to put a different chip on it and that would require so much work that it wouldn't be worth it.
Just wondering if anyone has tried a 256GB card with the Z3. I am running Oreo now and it rocks so was going to get a 128gb card to use as internal but well...why not go all the way to 256gb if it works, right?
If your question is still up to date, a Samsung EVO+ with 256GB will work fine. Accordingly, cards from other manufacturers should also work. However, I don't know whether it can be formatted as an internal memory.
I wouldn't do it either, because the SD card is much slower than the internal memory.

I am running 8.1with the sdcard as internal and while Oreo rocks I do think sdcard is indeed lagging but I thought it could be my slow card. So you mean that reading from any sdcars is slow with this device? Would be a shame since it has the 16GB limitations

I don't need the memory on the tablet anyway. I tried it some time ago on my Xperia Z3 phone with the app "A1 SD Bench" and the difference was already noticeable.
At the moment I keep it that way, that I have all apps internally and transfer pictures, music etc. to the memory card. My device is running like hell.
I may try that app again to only push bigger data and keep more important apps on then internal. I use the z3 as my daily phone. The way the industry is right now with those horrible (for me at least) aspect ratios 18:9 phones, I won't be buying a new phone for a LONG time lol
